Foreman William 'Bill' Reger
Foreman William 'Bill' Reger, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born February 16, 1926 in Wendel, WV, a son of the late William McKinley and Eva Blanche Reed Reger. On August 22, 1974 he married Patricia L. McDaniels who survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Nancy Jones and husband James of Buckhannon, Brenda Syrek and husband Ed of Myrtle Beach, SC, Francine Love of Buckhannon, Jacqueline Fuller and husband Marc of Buckhannon and Amy Suzanne Reger of Buckhannon; one son, Bobby Reger and wife Darlene of Myrtle Beach; three granddaughters, Deon Hoover of Buckhannon, Hanna Reger of Myrtle Beach and Leah Fuller of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Bobby Lee Reger, Jr. of Myrtle Beach and Matthew Fuller of Buckhannon and four great-grandsons, Tommy Boone, Jr., Nicholas Hoover, Zach Hoover and Mikey Hoover all of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Berdina Veith; three daughters, Doris Jean Reger, Charlotte Casto and Mary Jane Reger; one son, Billy Ray Reger, two brothers, Parley Glenn Bob Reger and Gerald Reger, two granddaughters, Mary Joe Reger and Leanne Wodzinski. Mr. Reger was a truck driver for Inter City Transport and Motor Company. He attended the Church of God. He served in the US Army during WW II in the 8th Calvary. He was part of the occupation of Japan and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the Buckhannon VFW # 3663, Life member French Creek Chapter # 36 DAV, Knight of Pythias, D.O.K.K. of Clarksburg, volunteer for the VA Medical Center. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW # 3663, Frank B. Barlett Post # 7 American Legion, and DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Lairl Rice
Richard Lairl Rice, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, June 15, 2007 at his home. He was born May 26, 1932 in Tallmansville, WV, a son of the late Dewey A. and Nina M. Carter Rice. On September 2, 1951 he married Lois Jean Armstrong who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jerry W. Rice of Charleston, WV, Richard L. Rice of Brownhill, PA and Randy G. Rice of Tallmansville; three granddaughters, Erinn Rice, Erica Rice, Christan Marie Bailey; three grandsons, R.W. Rice, Richard D. Rice and Randy Neal Rice; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Hornbeck of Tallmansville and one nephew, Steven Hornbeck of Tallmansville. Mr. Rice was an Electrician, a member of the Way of Holiness Church, the Buckhannon VFD and Upshur County EMS. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Murrell and Kevin Hanifan officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richards Honor to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund, c/o Patty Strader, 44 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Lynn Reed
Michael Lynn Reed, age 42, of Weston, WV died Monday, December 31, 2007 at his home. He was born October 13, 1965 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of Charles L. Reed who survives of Buckhannon and the late Ruby Edna Collins Reed. In addition to his father he is survived by two brothers, Gary Reed and wife Beth of Preston County, WV and Randall Reed of Burlington, NC. Michael was a caregiver for Res-Care and a Christian by faith. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery at Hodgesville, WV the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Erma Ruth Reger
Erma Ruth Reger, age 82, of 301 Wilson Lane, Elkins, WV, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Colonial Place in Elkins. She was born August 30, 1925 in Upshur Co., WV a daughter of the late Eddie and Erma Post Peters. On March 16, 1948 she married James M. Reger who died July 16, 2006. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Edward and Bayard Peters and two sisters Gertha Monroe and Roberta Allen. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Heatherly of Buckhannon, WV; four sons, Thomas Reger and wife Rebekah of Stafford, VA, James A Reger and wife Barbara of Buckhannon, Jack L. Reger and wife Charla of Belington, WV and Jerry L. Reger and wife Judy of Raleigh, NC; seven grandsons, David Heatherly of Charlotte, SC, Thomas Reger of Dallas, TX, Jason Reger of Beckley, WV, James Reger of Stafford, Ben Reger of Buckhannon, Colin Reger of Belington, and Teddy Reger of Raleigh; four granddaughters, Kristie Wamsley of New Market, VA, Shelley Osburn of Buckhannon, Amanda Reger of Buckhannon and Whitney Reger of Belington; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Peters of Stow, OH; and one sister, Bonnie Bennett of Canton, OH. Mrs. Reger was a homemaker and attended Christian Mission Alliance Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held 7 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Bohman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Friendship Cemetery at Berlin, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred C. Rexroad
Mildred C. Rexroad, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, March 31, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital NCF. She was born April 28, 1921 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Earl and Arti Poe Nutter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John M. Rexroad who died on August 18, 1954; one son, John E. Rexroad; two sisters, Linda Nutter and Anna Jean Nutter and one brother, Edward Nutter. She is survived by three sons, Randy E. Rexroad and wife Charlotte of Moundsville, WV, Stephen K. Rexroad of Buckhannon and Stanley T. Rexroad of Buckhannon; one step-son, David Linger and wife Barbara of St. Paul, MN; three grandsons, Shaun Thomas Rexroad of Buckhannon, John Stephen Rexroad of Buckhannon and Franklin J. Rexroad of Moundsville; one granddaughter, Chelsea Catherine Rexroad of Morgantown, WV; one sister, Frances Sidars of Bridgeport, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rexroad was a homemaker, a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, a former member of Chapter # 18 Order Eastern Star, BPOE # 1736 Ladies Aux. Friends will be received Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond O. (Coke) Reed
Raymond O. (Coke) Reed, age 86, of Adrian, WV died Wednesday, May 07, 2008 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon, WV. He was born on June 14, 1921 in Tallmansville (Hesper), WV, a son of the late James R. Reed and Lucy Bryan-Reed. On May 3, 1946 he married Josephine Smith, who preceded him to their heavenly home in 2004. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Oren Reed; one granddaughter Ann Znidarsic; eight brothers, Claude Dutch Reed, (infant brothers) Willie and Opie, Ralph Reed, Joseph Reed, Coy Reed, Albert Reed and Waymond Pat Reed and two sisters, Vada Pearl White and Vera Merle Dot Heavener. Surviving are two daughters, Elnora Bowles and husband Clarence Buddy of Hopewell, VA and Mary Lou Hyre and husband Frank Buster of Rock Cave, WV; one son Ronald Lee Reed and wife Debbie of Westerville, OH; three granddaughters, Lorna Amos of Prince George, VA, Tina Tanner of Chesterfield, VA, and Kathy Bowles of Hopewell, VA; two grandsons, Jason Cogar of Selbyville, WV and Joshua Reed of Westerville; ten great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren; three step-granddaughters, Jamie Plymale and husband Chad of Philippi, WV, Cara Degarmo of Westerville and Tina Harman and husband Allan of Elkins, WV; two step-grandsons, Mitch Hyre and wife Linda of Grand Camp, WV and Anthony Hyre of Charleston, WV and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Reed worked as a coal miner for over thirty years. After leaving the mines he worked in maintenance at WVWC until his retirement. Mr. Reed was a descendant of early Upshur settlers James Tenney and Thankful Shipey and like many of his ancestors had a strong love for family and country. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 34 months in the South Pacific during WWII and was a life member of the VFW Post 3663. His pride of country and service were witnessed by many and old soldiers stories will be missed. He was a Presbyterian by faith and had a strong sense of right and wrong and a deep faith in our heavenly father which he passed on to his family. Friends will be received Friday, May 9, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery in Buckhannon. VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Zenna Fidler Ratliff
Zenna Fidler Ratliff, age 97, of Morgantown, WV passed away November 17, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Emma Jean Cross, where she had resided for several years. She was born May 23, 1911 in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Burton and Ora Davis Fidler. She married Hughart Jake Ratliff on May 16, 1927 in Upshur County. She was a homemaker for many years as she and the children traveled with her husband as he moved to various communities in Barbour, Hardy, Nicholas, Randolph and Upshur Counties to manufacture rustic rail fence. She later worked as dietician and cook at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins and in Buckhannon as a cook at WVWC Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house, Oxford Supper Club and the Fraternal Order of Elks. She attended Woodland United Methodist Church in Morgantown. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by loved ones, friends and neighbors. She is survived by her children Ruth Kathryn Kate (Armand) Ricottilli of Kingsville, WV; Billy J. and Margaret Ratliff of Buckhannon, WV; Jimmie L. and Anna Dell Ratliff of Buckhannon, WV; twin daughters, Ima Jean (Carl) Goodwin of Buckhannon, WV and Emma Jean Cross of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Don and Sue Ricottilli of Kingsville, Diana (Ratliff) Bargeloh of Buckhannon, Steve and Marty Ratliff of Buckhannon, Glen and Melanie Ratliff of Coalton, Pam (Ratliff) and Greg Yeager of Belington, Carl Jr. and Mary Goodwin of Buckhannon, Neal Goodwin of Parkersburg, Doug and Lou Ellen Goodwin of Morgantown and Kevin Goodwin of Buckhannon; eleven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister Icie May Carpenter of Cocoa, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Harold Fidler and Hurlie Fidler; three sisters, Thelma Cummings, Flo Royer and Ottie Milantoni; three grandchildren Richard Rowe Cross, Jr., Linda L. (Ratliff) Ferrell Carpenter and Armand Nicholas Nick Ricottilli, Jr. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 10 AM 1 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Sherman Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert R. Reed, Jr.
Robert R. Reed, Jr., age 47, of Elkview, WV died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Elkview. He was born November 9, 1961 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of Randy Reed of French Creek, WV and the late Beverley Lundell Reed. On June 22, 1985 he married Lisa D. Cutright who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Robin Reed of Elkview; one son, Justin Reed of Elkview; three brothers, Rodger Rusty Reed and wife Jeannie of Newton, WV, Richard Reed and wife Pam of Houston, TX and Ronald Reed and wife Carolyn of Massillon, OH and several nieces and nephews. Robert was a Loan Officer and a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Charleston, WV. Friends will be received Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Ron Nikodem as celebrant. Burial will follow in the French Creek Presbyterian Cemetery at French Creek. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Loretta Ray
Loretta Ray, age 70, of New Castle, DE died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 under the care of Heartland Hospice in Wilmington, DE. She was born June 16, 1938 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late William and Mamie Wamsley Tenney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Paul Weaver; one daughter, Debra M. Weaver and three sisters and one brother. She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Jones and husband Carl of Bear, DE; one brother, David Tenney; one sister, Carolyn Wondolowski and several nieces and nephews. Loretta was employed by the General Motors Corp., Boxwood Road Assembly Plant retiring after fifteen years of service. Darlene and Carl would like to extend their deepest thanks to Karen Triance for the loving care given to Loretta. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Monday, March 23, 2009 from 9:30 11 AM the funeral hour with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Charlotte Ann Coulthard Reed
Charlotte Ann Coulthard Reed, age 72 of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Reed was born August 29, 1936 in English, WV, a daughter of the late Alvie T. and Ann Baisden Coulthard. She was a graduate of Big Creek High School in War, WV Class of 1954 and later graduated from Concord College with a Bachelors in English and taught English at Bartley Junior High School, Bartley, WV. After earning a Masters in English from WVU, she taught at Bethany College and then at WVU. On September 2, 1961, she married Dr. Joseph B. Reed from Burlington, WV. Her career includes work in public, university, and medical libraries. Moving to Buckhannon in 1966, Mrs. Reed raised three children, was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and worked as Office Manager and trouble shooter for her husbands medical practice. She gave the gifts of patience, wisdom, creativity, and a calm sense of humor and will be dearly missed and remembered by all. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Karen Elaine Reed Hallowell and husband Thomas Bowers of Lebanon, PA and Betsy Gail Reed Noullet and husband John Patrick of Mt. Gretna, PA; one son, Jonathan Ben Reed and wife Michelle Londel DeLaGarza of Frisco, TX; one grandson, Caleb Joseph Reed; one step grandson, Clint Jordan DeLaGarza of Flower Mound, TX; one brother, James Alvie Coulthard of Chatam Hill, VA; one uncle, Robert Coulthard of Sugar Grove, VA; and one aunt, June Overbay of Chilhowie, VA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Brenda June Hardy. Memorial services planned for Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Buckhannon, WV and Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Goodman Chapel, Chatam Hill, VA. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the First Presbyterian Church (13 S. Bland 'Nub' Raikes
Bland 'Nub' Raikes, age 93, of Rock Cave, WV died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born July 23, 1916 in Frenchton, WV, a son of the late Hoy Jasper and Ressie Phillips Raikes. On September 30, 1946 he married Violet Tressie Strader who preceded him in death on July 31, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Odbert Jake, Merwin Merb and Harold Bucky Raikes and one sister, Regina Helmick. He is survived by one son, Roger B. Raikes of Rock Cave, WV; two daughters, Cheryl Susan Post and husband Kevin of Hodgesville, WV and Robin Gay Chidester and husband Dale of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Kelvin Post of Hodgesville and Dustin Chidester of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Ieshya Claypool and husband Russell of Hodgesville and Miranda Chidester of Elkins, WV; three great-grandsons, Damien Claypool and Ashton Post both of Hodgesville and Gavin Chidester of Elkins; a step great-grandson, Chace Cogar of IL; one brother, Hoy Junior Raikes of Cedar Hill, TX and one sister, Oneta Reger of Mansfield, OH. Mr. Raikes served in the Army during WW II. He worked for Upshur County in maintenance and as a mechanic. Friends will be received Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Eugene Helmick officiating. Burial will follow in the Waterloo Church Cemetery at French Creek, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B.
