Deloras Elaine Reddecliff
Deloras Elaine Reddecliff, age 71, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015. She was born May 23, 1944, in Cumberland, MD, the daughter of the late Clifton Junior and Eula Mae Mace Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Reddecliff, with whom she worked for many years in his law practice. She is survived by her brother, Stephen Brown and wife Kelli of Cross Lanes, WV; two daughters, Kelli Marteney and husband Paul of Parkersburg, WV and Gwendolyn Reddecliff-Getto and husband Todd of Morgantown, WV; two grandchildren, Alexander Adams of Morgantown and Isobella Marteney of Parkersburg; one nephew, Timothy Brown and wife Emily of Wintersville, OH and one niece, Jennifer Morris and husband Chris of Charleston, WV. Deloras was a 1962 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, where she taught after graduating from Glenville State College in 1966. She was a licensed social worker and retired in 2013 from Central West Virginia Aging Services in Buckhannon. A graveside service will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Weston Masonic Cemetery in Weston with Pastor Holly Hoover officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Calvin Herbert Rice
Calvin Herbert Rice, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital in Gassaway, WV. He was born December 18, 1928 in Canaan, WV, a son of the late Clarence W. and Dorothy E. Gregory Rice. He is survived by his wife Virginia Pearl Price; one son, Rickie E. Rice of Rock Cave, WV; two daughters, Karen Persinger and husband Clay and Christina Gaudet and husband Brian all of Buckhannon; three step sons, Ronald P. Williams and wife Sandra, Michael Williams and wife Tracey and Brian Williams all of Buckhannon; one step daughter, Cynthia Stevenson and husband John of Baltimore, MD; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Ernest Rice both of Morgantown, WV and two sisters, Edna Friend of Lorain, OH and Maxine Farrar of Freedom, PA. In addition of his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Rice and one sister, Virginia Wilfong. Mr. Rice was an office worker for Moore Business Forms. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church. Mr. Rice was the Past Governor of Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598. He was an ardent supporter of Buckhannon Upshur Athletics and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participating in the sports. A Special Thank You to the Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Doctors, Nurses and Staff. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 11 AM-1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery at Canaan, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Violet 'Tressie' Raikes

Violet 'Tressie' Raikes, age 90, Rock Cave, WV, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born July 5, 1917 in Canaan, WV a daughter of the late Parley Harrison and Effie Gay Haymond Strader. She is survived by her husband, Bland Raikes; one son, Roger B. Raikes of Rock Cave; two daughters, Susan Post and husband Kevin of Hodgesville, WV and Robin Chidester and husband Dale of Buckhannon, WV; two grandsons, Kelvin Post of Hodgesville, Dustin Chidester of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Ieshya Claypool and husband Russell of Hodgesville and Miranda Chidester of Elkins, WV; two great grandsons, Damien Claypool and Ashton Post both of Hodgesville; one step great grandson, Chace Cogar of Illinois; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Dowell; and one brother, Ted Strader. Violet was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received 4-8 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, with the Reverend Eugene Helmick at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Waterloo Cemetery at French Creek. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles A. 'Buck' Ridenour

Charles A. 'Buck' Ridenour, age 86, of Fairmont, WV died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at his home, under the care of Hospice Care of Marion County, WV. He was born January 9, 1920 in Philippi, WV, a son of the late George William and Elizabeth Auvil Ridenour. On June 30, 1969 he married Marguerite Floyd who preceded him in death on October 3, 1997. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Ridenour and Ernestine Yost and one brother, James Emwood Ridenour. He is survived by one sister, Imogene Ridenour of Fairmont; one nephew, Danny Henderson of Florida; two nieces, Nancy Benson and Debbie Ford both of Fairmont; three great-nieces, Beth Starcher, Diana Benson and Billi Jo Volek all of Fairmont; three great-nephews, Claude Benson of Rivesville, WV, Scottie Benson of Virginia and Jason Ford of Fairmont; ten great-great-nieces and nephews and several close family and friends. Mr. Ridenour was a School Teacher for the Upshur County Board of Education. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Fairmont. He served in the 82nd & 13th Airborne during WW II and was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663. Friends will be received Wednesday, October 25, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion & DAV Chapters 5 & 36 will conduct Military Honors at the Graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Nicholas W. Rongyos

Nicholas W. Rongyos, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, November 23, 2006 at his home. He was born April 12, 1912 in New Haven, CT, a son of the late Nicholas and Anna Henroy Rongyos. On November 15, 1946 he married Maxine Ellison who preceded him in death on March 5, 2003. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Thelma Harvey; two brothers, George and William Rongyos and one sister, Elizabeth Guy. Mr. Rongyos is survived by one son, William Beckner and wife Martha of Buckhannon; one daughter, Emma Lee Cadman of Buckhannon; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Judith Edwards of Bennington, VT and one nephew, Samuel Guy and wife Gail of Hamden, CT. He was a factory worker, a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church of Hodgesville and a US Army Veteran of World War II. Friends will be received from 7-9 PM Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mona Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters #5 & 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dale Flint Riggs

Dale Flint Riggs, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, July 30, 2007 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1929 at St. Marys, WV, a son of the late William Porter and Rhoda Ann Flint Riggs. On June 23, 1953 he married Carolyn Rosalie Lantz who preceded him in death on July 29, 1993. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister Sarah Davis. He is survived by two sons, Mark Riggs and wife Margaret of French Creek, WV, and Gregory Dale Riggs and wife Cheryl of Buckhannon; three daughters, Susan Arey of Buckhannon, Robyn Simons and husband John of Buckhannon, Jane Riggs of Bellefontaine, OH; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dale attended the Faith Tabernacle Church of Buckhannon and was the owner of Galloway Coal Company Inc., and Ann Lorentz Coal Tipple and was involved with various Oil and Gas Businesses. Dale was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598; Elks BPOE 1736; he started the 1st WVU Mountaineer Club in Upshur County, was an avid WVU Mountaineers fan, he was a member of the Buckhannon Chamber of Commerce and named Upshur County Citizen of the year twice by the chamber, he was named Republican of the year by the Upshur Co. Republican Executive Committee, a member of the Upshur Co. Humane Society and to this date has donated the shelter and the land for this organization, he won the Strawberry Spirit award by the WV Strawberry Association, a charter member of the Progressive Bank NA, served as chairman and then director for progressive bank, Served on Region 7 Aging service board of directors, was elected to the 38th district of the WV House of Delegates in 1988 and served until the year 2000, Friends will be received 2-9 PM, Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Poling- St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Faith Tabernacle Church with the Reverends Lester Boylen and Jimmy Russell officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Delmas J. 'Red Dog' Riffle, Sr.

Delmas J. 'Red Dog' Riffle, Sr., age 59, of Buckhannon, WV the Hodgesville Community Area. Died on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long battle with Black Lung. He was born September 24, 1947 in Gilmer County, a son of Annabelle (Spore) Riffle Lipps of Buckhannon and the late Sherman Riffle Sr. Mr. Riffle worked at surface mining for years and was a truck driver, liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed having his children and grandchildren around. He is survived by his wife, Sandra F. (Cooper) Ogden Riffle, whom he married February 13, 1993. Also surviving are three sons, Delmas J. Riffle, Jr. and wife Judy of Buckhannon, Anthony J. Riffle at home and Omri N. Ogden of French Creek, WV; two daughters, Donna M. Ward and husband Rick of Buckhannon and Abigail F. Jeffries and husband David of French Creek; ten grandsons, Joseph G. Riffle, H. Herschel Riffle, Delmas J. Riffle, III, Steven J. Riffle, Jacob D. Ward, Richard Hawkins, Douglas Hawkins and Daniel Sprouse all of Buckhannon, William N. Ogden of OH and Ricky Ward of NC; eight granddaughters, Francis N. Riffle, Shiloh M. Sprouse and husband Robbie, Sierra L. Lowe, Zerrick A. Riffle and Chance D. Ward all of Buckhannon, Ryleigh K. Jeffries of French Creek, Lillian F. Ogden of OH and Dana Ward of NC; one grandchildren on the way and two great-granddaughters, Madison S. Sprouse and Felisha N. Richards both of Buckhannon; fourteen brothers, Woody Riffle and wife Barb, Dan Lipps and wife Myrtle, Bernie Lipps and wife Mary Jane and Blaine Lipps all of Buckhannon, Roscoe Crow Lipps and wife Debbie of Century, WV, Ernie Lipps and wife Janet of Gassaway, WV, Danny Lipps of IL, Denzil Riffle and wife Cherri of Lost Creek, WV, Johnny Montgomery and Sue, Stanley Riffle, Sherman Riffle, Jr. and wife Karen, Michael Riffle and Genia all of Weston, WV, Martin Riffle and wife Judy and Joseph Riffle all of Buckhannon; seven sisters, Mary Perrine and husband Jack, Faye Lipps and Sam all of Buckhannon, Anna Mae Second of Clarksburg, WV, Helen Davidson and Roy of West Milford, WV, Judy Riffle and Ronnie, Lorraine Eagle and Mitchel all of Lost Creek, WV and Diana Wooten of Missouri. Also his adopted family of Teter Community, son Robert and daughter Sarah Williams, Grandchildren, Wesley Robertson, Sarah, Raymond and Zelphia Johnson; and special neighbors and friends, Seneca Criss and John MacEwan. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Riley Lipps, one sister, Barbara Cottrill and a infant sister, Anna Mae Lipps. Friends will be received Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Sunday June 10, 2007 with Pastor George Jenkins and the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Veda Johnieve Queen

Veda Johnieve Queen, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at New Hope Room & Board in Hodgesville, WV, while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. She was born May 13, 1925 at Gum Mountain, WV, a daughter of the late John Raymond and Celia White Queen. On July 3, 1943 she married Forrest Dale Queen, who preceded her in death on October 18, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Reppy; two brothers, Robert (Bob) and Earl Queen and one sister, Madge Streets. She is survived by one son Bobby Dale Queen and wife Alice of Milford, DE; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ludie Queen of Buckhannon; special niece, Iris McLain of Buckhannon and several other nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church at Hodgesville. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman and was well known for her paintings and craftwork. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. Entombment will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Mausoleum. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Zola Geraldine Queen

Zola Geraldine Queen, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV the Hodgesville Community died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at New Hope Room & Board in Buckhannon. She was born December 3, 1915 in Charity Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Sherman and Anna Lee Douglas Karickhoff. On March 2, 1935 she married David Kyle Queen who preceded her in death on July 9, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, David Waid Queen; three brothers, Myrle, Carroll and Brennie Karickhoff and two sisters, Marie Queen and Georgia Harris. She is survived by one son, Leo Gene Queen and wife Dawn of Buckhannon; one grandson, Michael Allen Queen and wife Amy of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Debora (Queen) Miller of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Travis Miller and wife Kathleen of Buckhannon and two great-granddaughters, Leslie Reese and husband James of Petersburg, VA and Maggie Queen of Buckhannon. Mrs. Queen was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Bowser officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery.
