Jerry L. Kyle

Jerry L. Kyle, age 54, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born September 24, 1952 in Elkins, WV, a son of Virginia C. Zickefoose Kyle of French Creek, WV and the late John W. Kyle, Jr. In addition to his mother he is survived by two brothers, John W. Kyle, III and wife Cathy L. of Nutter Fort, WV and Robert P. Kyle of French Creek; one sister, Patricia Ann Kyle of Parma, OH and two nieces, Samantha Russell and Jessica Russell both of Parma. Mr. Kyle was a truck driver. He was a member of the Madison Ave. Baptist Church of Cleveland, OH and a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598. Friends will be received Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery at Rock Cave, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lloyd E. 'Possum' Kelley

Lloyd E. 'Possum' Kelley, age 74, of Tallmansville, WV, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at the St. Joseph's Hospital NCF in Buckhannon, WV. He was born May 15, 1932 at Tenmile, WV, a son of the late Lonnie and Gertie Reed Kelley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. On February 4, 1956 he married Ima Jean Hamilton who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donnie Hamilton and wife Brenda of Ellamore, WV, Kennith Kelley and wife Kay of Buckhannon; four daughters, Judy Gray of Fairmont, WV, Connie Zickefoose of Elkins, WV, Pam Moran and husband William of Romney, WV and Carrie Zickefoose of Volga, WV; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Kelley of Red Knob, WV and Daniel Kelley of Warren, OH and one sister, Sarah Riffle of Lick Run, WV. Mr. Kelley was a coal miner for Badger Coal Company. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Tenmile Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael George officiating. Family and friends are invited to the Tallmansville Fire Department after the service for a meal. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edith Janice Harrison

Edith Janice Harrison, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born June 16, 1939 in Farmville, VA, a daughter of Ida McKinney Lacks of Keysville, VA and the late George Moody Lacks. On December 23, 1956 she married Laco D. Harrison who survives. In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by one son, L. Kelly Harrison and wife Karen of Columbus, OH; three daughters, Terry Chapman and husband Don of Fairmont, WV, Susan Dumas of Cincinnati, OH and Diane Alderman and husband Jim of Crawford, WV; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one brother, George Moody Lacks, Jr. of Keysville. Mrs. Harrison was a homemaker. She was a member of the Buckhannon Lions Club and the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Friends will be received Friday, November 2, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the LDS Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the LDS Chapel with Bishop Cecil Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park at Tennerton, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Lea Harris

Jean Lea Harris, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, WV. She was born April 27, 1929 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Lloyd Lee and Leda Kiddy Waugh. She is survived by her husband William E. Harris of Buckhannon; one son, James Lloyd Harris and wife Barbara S. of Belpre, OH; two grandsons, Jonathan William Harris and James Patrick Alexander Harris both of Belpre and one sister, Carolyn K. Gregori of Youngstown, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Norton Waugh. Mrs. Harris attended the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon, WV. She was a retired teacher from Harrison and Wood County public schools and was Past President of the Parkersburg Branch of the American Assoc. of University Women and Chapter L of PEO. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alpha Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Alumni Organization of WV University. She was educated in Berkeley and Braxton County Public Schools and graduated from WV University in 1951. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Heavner Cemetery with the Rev. John E. Harris officiating. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon at 2 PM Saturday, July 28, 2007. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Clarence Shorty Hawkins

Clarence Shorty Hawkins, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. He was born May 9, 1918 in Holly Grove, WV, a son of the late James Hubert and Jennie Viola Nethkin Hawkins. On October 13, 1941 he married Hallie A. Boggs who preceded him in death on February 18, 1996. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Sheri Burnett and husband Sidney of Shinnston, WV; one son, James Farrell Hawkins and wife Karen S. of Fort Myers, FL; one grandson, Brian James Hawkins and wife Julie of Baxley, GA; four granddaughters, Leslie Edvenson and husband Sean of Punta Gorda, FL, Cristy Buffington and husband Robbie of Bridgeport, WV, Kelley Coulter and husband James of Shinnston, WV and Andrea Burnett of Shinnston, WV; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Hawkins of Baxley and five great-grandsons, Brett Hawkins and Drew Hawkins both of Baxley, Micah Edvenson and Seth Edvenson both of Punta Gorda and Conner Buffington of Bridgeport. Mr. Hawkins was a machinist, a member of the K of P Lodge # 54 and attended Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hampton Church Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwin E. "Bud" Hall

Edwin E. Bud Hall, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, January 13, 2007 while under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg. Bud was born September 22, 1927 at Hall, WV, a son of the late Arthur and Aurille Galhier Hall. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patrichia Stump Hall of Buckhannon, whom he married April 18, 1957. Also surviving are three sons, Teddy A. Hall and fiancee, Susan Fallen of Buckhannon, Ricky D. Hall and fiancee, Karla Landry of Titusville, FL, and Rodney A. Hall of Woodstock, Ga.; one daughter, Vickie Jones and husband Blair of Woodstock; two granddaughters, Ashley Hall of Miami, FL and Kallie Jones of Woodstock; three grandsons, Ryan Hall with US Army, Brett Jones of Woodstock, GA., Christopher Hall of Houston, TX; one geat-grandson, Christian Hall of Houston, TX; one brother, Joseph Hall and wife Virginia of Buckhannon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Wentz, Mary White and Evelyn Karickhoff and one brother Harry Hall. Bud served in the US Navy during WW II. He retired from Metropolitan Stevedore Co. in Los Angeles, CA. after 26 years as a Longshoreman. He was a member of Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM, El Beckel Shrine of Anaheim, CA, Machinist Union # 1484 Los Angeles and was a member of Betheny Baptist Church at Hall. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, square dancing and spending Saturday morings with his nephew Bob Grill at his garage. As per his request, Bud will be cremated and a memorial will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center, 5 Florida St. Buckhannon, WV, Peoples Hospice, Box 1680 Clarksburg, WV 26202 or Davis Memorial Hospital, Reed & Gorman St. Elkins, WV. Artie Gale Hamilton

Artie G. Hamilton, age 93 of Warren, OH died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at St. Joseph's Health Center in Warren following a short illness. He was born June 17, 1913 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Eldridge G. and Julie P. Linger Hamilton. In 1953 he married Myrtle E. Warschefsky who preceded him in death in 1982. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Tina Hamilton Allman. He is survived by one son, Charles Hamilton, Sr. and wife Marialaina of Howland Township, OH; four grandchildren, Charles, Jr., Angela, Bernadette and Desiree and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Nevaeh. Mr. Hamilton was a former resident of Monroe, MI and moved to Warren in 2003 from Buckhannon. He served in the US Navy during World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars for action in the Solomon Islands, Guam and Okinawa. He was employed by Copperweld Steel Corp. of Warren and as a melt shop foreman for McLouth Steel Corp. in Trenton, MI for twenty-six years. He volunteered at the Upshur County Senior Center, enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling and was a member of the Lakes-Weekender Travel Trailer Club in Michigan. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Tallman officating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Lou Hall

Betty Lou Hall, age 76, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, November 27, 2006 at her home. She was born October 26, 1930 in Winchester, VA, a daughter of the late Royal A. and Mary Jane Mesner Unger. On November 15, 1952 she married Robert Hall who preceded her in death on March 8, 1984. She is survived by one step son, William Robert Hall of Chicago, IL; one sister, Marguerite M. Hollen of Myrtle Beach, SC; three brothers, Lewis C. Unger of Houston, TX, Richard R. Unger of Buckhannon and Don S. Unger of Ruther Glen, VA; three nephews, Charles Unger of Ruther Glen, Don S. Unger, Jr. of VA and David Unger of TX and three nieces, Rebecca Bumgardner of VA and Linda Unger and Susan Collage, both of TX. Mrs. Hall was Secretary for Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a member of that church. She also donated to the VFW, DAV and American Legion over the years. Friends will be received from 4-8 PM, Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Fay Harris

Fay Harris, age 49 of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born August 26, 1957 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Denver Ray and Wilma Imogene Bailey Kesling. On July 16, 1975 she married Steven Harris who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Dotti Dietz and husband Joshua of Ft. Ashby, WV; two grandsons, Dakota and Kaden Dietz both of Ft. Ashby. Mrs. Harris worked at Mountain State Printing as a floor boss. Friends will be received Monday, November 27, 2006 from 6-8PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at the Kesling Cemetery, Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 10 AM with the Reverend Paul E. Dietz officiating. Burial will follow in the Kesling Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Aletha Mae (Judy) Edwards Heater

Judy Heater passed way peacefully at 6:25 AM Monday, February 4, 2008 at her residence of 47 South Florida Street, Buckhannon, West Virginia after a six month illness with lung cancer. She was attended by her daughter and one of the wonderful home health care providers as she crossed over into the arms of our Lord. She was receiving services through the St. Joseph's Hospice Program while remaining at her residence after treatment ended in mid November of 2007 at the Mary Babbs Randolph Cancer Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Mrs. Heater was born in Orion Township., Richland Co., Wisconsin on September 24, 1925 and was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Loomis of Lansing, Iowa. She attended a Roman Catholic school until transferring to and graduating from Lansing High School and Iowa State Business College. She met and married George W. Heater of Weston, West Virginia while he was stationed at Camp McCoy. They married on July 27th, 1944 in La Crosse, Wisconsin and returned to West Virginia until he deployed over seas during WWII. Mrs. Heater and Col. Heater moved to Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1947 where he worked for the West Virginia National Guard USPFO. They moved to Buckhannon, West Virginia in 1961 due to the transfer of that National Guard Office. Ret.)Heater passed away on May 23, 1992.
Mrs. Heater is survived by one daughter, Sarah Jane Heater Huffman and her son-in- law Col. (Ret.) Jacob C. Huffman, Jr. They also reside in Buckhannon after their retirements. She has three grand daughters and their spouses: Sarah Cristin Dukehart and her husband Paul of Pennsylvania; Julie Anne Pargoe and her husband Brandon of Virginia: and Laonna Dawn Rauser and her husband David of Virginia. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Taylor Dukehart, Ellis Dukehart and Isadora Dukehart of Abbottstown Pennsylvania: Kane Pargoe and Trent Pargoe of Falls Church, Virginia; and Lance and Cora Rauser of Bristol, Virginia. Her sister and brother-in-law are Betty and George Linn Bland of Weston, West Virginia. She has one niece-in-law Mrs. Linda Heater from Missouri and 2 grand-nephews; Brian and Jonathan Heater, also of Missouri. She has 3 nieces and their spouses: Linn Marie Buell and husband Lee of Florida; Ann Luzader and her husband Danny of Belmont, West Virginia: and Janice Bland and her husband David Pineta of Buckhannon, West Virginia. She has one surviving nephew, Dr James Bland and fianc Christy of Florida. Her great-grand nieces are Whitney and Laureen Bland and Mary Luzader Kelly and her husband Jonathan. Her great-grand- nephews are Jonathan and Matthew Buell; and Nathan and Amy Luzader. Her great-great grand nephew is Gunner Luzader. She has two step grandsons: Jacob Camden (Cam) and William Craig Huffman both of West Virginia.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her mother-in-law Mrs. Clyde Heater of Weston, her nephews Jack and Michael Heater of Missouri, her brother and sister-in-law James and Eleanor Heater of Missouri. She is also predeceased by one Grandson, William Alexander Holdt.
Mrs. Heater enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, reading, gardening, working crossword puzzles, visiting with family and Friends, and her worship with church. She was particularly fond of visiting the seashore.
Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Kanawha St. in Buckhannon on Thursday February 7th 2008 from 6-9 PM. Funeral will be at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Weston on East 2nd St. at 11:00 AM Friday February 8th, 2008. Following the communion service, internment will be at the Weston Masonic Cemetery on Rt. 33. Following that service, all friends and family are sincerely invited to the Home of Mrs. Judy Heater at 47 South Florida St. in Buckhannon for a reception.

John Daniel Danny Hess

John Daniel Danny Hess, age 56, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home under the care of Peoples Hospice. He was born April 28, 1951 in Hampton, WV, a son of the late John F. and Ruby F. Westfall Hess. On June 28, 2003 he married Beverly Ann Hess. Also surviving are one son, Joshua David Hess of Fairmont, WV; one daughter, Rachel Abel and husband David of Buckhannon; first cousin, Doyle Bud Dean of Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Jadah and Donovan Able both of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Daniel Hess and four brothers, William L., Howard H., Robert L. and Denvil L. Hess. Danny was a Sheet Metal Tech for Bombardier Air. He Attended The Way of Holiness Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received Tuesday, October 30, 2007 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Church Cemetery at Hampton, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jackie O. 'Jack' Helmick

Jackie O. 'Jack' Helmick, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at his home. He was born November 6, 1938 in Buckhannon, a son of the late John Carl and Regina Raikes Helmick. On July 12, 1958 he married Karen S. Ervin who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pam Smith and husband Gary of Jane Lew, WV and Barb Helmick of Buckhannon; one son, Rex Helmick and wife Debra of Weston, WV; two grandsons, Clinton Helmick and wife Meagan of Weston and Tim Holt of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Sara Robinson and husband Paul of Weston; one great-grandson, Emmanulle Paul Robinson III of Weston; six brothers, Rev. Eugene Helmick of Buckhannon, Bobby R. Helmick and wife Patty of Buckhannon, Kyle Helmick and wife Ruby of Buckhannon, Lyle Helmick and wife Genevive of Buckhannon, Larry Helmick of OH and Steve Helmick and wife Debbie of Buckhannon; two sisters, Mona Helmick and husband Jim of Buckhannon and Peggy Ball of Buckhannon; one sister in law, Gloria Helmick of Buckhannon; mother in law, Virginia Ervin of Buckhannon; brother in law, James Ervin and wife Vicky of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and a caregiver, Juanita Andrew of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jim Helmick; two sisters in law, Vada and Betty Helmick and a father in law, Leon Ervin. Mr. Helmick was a truck driver for Nexus Drilling and a Christian by faith. Friends will be received Friday, April 6, 2007 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Hulme and the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Eula Dana Hinkle

Eula Dana Hinkle, age 103, of Tallmansville, WV died Friday, March 23, 2007 at Nellas Nursing Home in Elkins, WV. She was born January 18, 1904 in Queens, WV, a daughter of the late Hayden and Barbara Ella Simmons Sloan. On June 27, 1925 she married Eddie Hinkle who preceded her in death on July 31, 1976. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Elmer G. Hinkle; one daughter in law, Shirley Westfall Hinkle; five sisters, Virgie Zickefoose, Donnis Lininger, Dacie Cutright, Delma Cutlip and Delcie Sloan and three brothers, Duard Sloan, Darrel Ted Sloan and Damon B. Bill Sloan. She is survived by one son, Eddie Junior Hinkle and wife Zana Lee of Buckhannon, WV; two daughters, Louise Kovach and husband George of Clarksburg, WV and Delma Buckley and husband Don of Greer, SC; four granddaughters, Sherry Hess of Mineral Wells, WV, Kimberly Linger of Buckhannon, Lori Bell of Greenville, OH and Tracy Bunger of Sidney, OH; four great-grandsons, Christopher Heavner of Mineral Wells, Patrick Heavner of Mineral Wells, Austin Bell of Greenville, and Jace Bunger of Sidney; one sister, Doris Snodgrass of Gandeeville, WV and one sister-in-law, Mary Sloan of Jane Lew, WV. Mrs. Hinkle was a homemaker and a member and former youth Sunday School Teacher at Harmony United Methodist Church in Queens. She was well known for her love of flowers, gardening and her needlework and quilt making. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Zickefoose officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery at Queens.
