Bella Sprague
Bella MacTurk McDiarmid Maine Sprague, age 96, of 26 Meade Street, Buckhannon, WV, passed away with cancer Tuesday morning November 7, 2007 at Holbrook on the Hill under the care of St. Joseph's Hospital Home Health and Hospice. She was born July 9, 1911 in Hailesboro, NY. She is the last surviving member of her family. Surviving are her children, Hugh C. Maine and daughter-in-law Barbara Mack Maine of Belleville, IL, a daughter, Kay Maine Sienkiewicz and son-in-law Edward C. Sienkiewicz of Buckhannon, WV, a son Bruce H. Maine and daughter-in-law Beverly Bennett Maine of Swansea, IL, a step-daughter, Jane Sprague Mintz of Hayesville, NC and a step-daughter-in-law Edith Sprague of Gouverneur, NY. She has seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 22 great step-grandchildren, 6 great-great step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Maine of Hermon, NY, Chester Haile Sprague of Gouverneur, NY, a stepson Donald F. Sprague and step-grandson Stephen Henry Sprague of Gouverneur, NY. She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Mrs. Belle Spilman of Gouverneur, NY, Mrs. Ellen Davey of Fulton, NY, Mrs. Mary Eirich of Herkimer, NY, Mrs. Martha Stronach of Hailesboro, NY, Mrs. Jessie Bench of Ogdensburg, NY and Mrs. Bessy Jemery of Hailesboro, NY, three brothers, Robert C. MacTurk, Thomas MacTurk, and William MacTurk of Hailesboro, NY. Mrs. Sprague was employed at Nathan Franks Department Store and manager of the Princess Shop of Ogdensburg, NY. She was also manager of the Surprise Store in Gouverneur, NY. She moved to Buckhannon in 1968 to reside with her daughter and family. She was employed at Shannons and Stone & Thomas Department Stores in retailing. Mrs. Sprague was a member of Ogdensburg Business and Professional Womens Club, The Buckhannon Business and Professional Womens Club and Teters CEO Club. In her earlier years, Bella enjoyed playing bridge, was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed working with crafts and crocheting Afghans. She always kept in touch with her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, good friend, neighbor and great role model for her children and grandchildren who loved her very much. At the request of the family, her body was donated to the Human Gifts Registry at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV. A memorial service will be held next summer in Gouverneur, NY and a burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Rosenbaum Family House, WV University Hospital Medical Center Drive, PO Box 8228, Morgantown, WV 26502-8228, St. Joseph's Hospital in care of Hospice and Home Health 1 Amalia Drive, Buckhannon, WV 26201 or Upshur County Humane Society, PO Box 2292, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Keith Franklin Woody
Keith Franklin Woody, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born September 26, 1935 in Holly Grove, WV, a son of the late Donnel E. and Pauline G. Bennett Woody. In addition his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Donnel Junior Woody, Edwin Woody, Russell Tom Woody and Glenn Woody and two sisters, Guilda Bragg and Ruth Schwaerzle. He is survived by two sons, Timothy A. Woody and wife Pamela of Buckhannon and Mark A. Woody and wife Kathy of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Sarah E. Woody of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Matthew K. Woody, Daniel K. Woody, Chase A. Woody and Shay T. Woody all of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Dominick A. Oliverio of Buckhannon; companion, Glenna R. Bowser and family of Buckhannon; two brothers, Jimmie R. Woody and wife Justine of Buckhannon and Dale F. Woody and wife Karen of Buckhannon and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Woody was an owner and operator of Woody Lumber Company. He attended the Tallmansville Baptist Church was a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks and one of the founders and co-owners of Woody Lumber Company. Keith enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends and going to the country. Friends will be received Friday, July 13, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He will lie in state 1-2 PM the funeral hour Saturday at the Tallmansville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Lewis and the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ernest 'Okie' Tenney
Ernest 'Okie' Tenney, age 69, of French Creek, WV died Monday, August 31, 2009 at his home. He was born on February 17, 1940 in Alton, WV, a son of the late Clarence and Lessie Westfall Tenney. On November 21, 1972 he married Myrtle Shoulders who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother Herbert Butch Tenney and one sister Vonnie Bib Burr. He is survived by one son Hank Tenney and wife Melissa Smith Tenney of French Creek; three grandsons, Hakan Tenney, John Corley, II and Tristan Corley all of French Creek; four granddaughters, Hannah Tenney of Buckhannon, WV, Cher Corley of Moorefield, WV and Leslee Corley and Mikki Merriman and husband Mark all of Buckhannon; one great-grandson Hunter Merriman of Buckhannon; four brothers, Garnett Buck Tenney of Sago, WV, Roger Peanut Tenney and wife Kay of Selbyville, WV, Delbert Tenney and wife Mary of Union, WV and Vacel Tenney of Warren, OH; three sisters, Diane McCartney and husband Richard of Big Bend, WV; Stella Virginia Cubie Black and husband Lawrence of Mt. Carmel, WV; and Lora Hamner of Tallmansville, WV and several nieces and nephews. . Mr. Tenney worked for the Street Department in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Friday, September 4, 2009 from 9 to 10 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday 10 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Bend Church Cemetery in Sago, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Arnold Stanley
Patricia Arnold Stanley, age 58, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Meadowview Manor Health Care in Bridgeport, WV. She was born June 1, 1949 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Gay Arnold and Helen B. Tomey Kern. On March 2, 1987 she married Gerald Valton Stanley who preceded her in death on March 4, 2007. She is survived by one son, Nicholas A. Stanley of Buckhannon and a special friend, Ray Lynch of Elkins, WV. Mrs. Stanley was a beautician. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert 'Bob' Edward Stout
Robert 'Bob' Edward Stout, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV, (formerly of Salem, WV) passed away on October 6, 2008, at home, with his wife, children, and two special nephews, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 28, 1923 in Lightburn, WV to Erma Meredith Stout and Zelphia Mary (Seckman) Stout. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Sarah Louise Ash, whom he married on October 25, 1947. Also surviving are his son, Robert Edward Stout Jr., and wife Karen of Scott Depot, WV; two daughters Linda L. Johnson and husband Brent of Pittsburgh, PA and Shelia L. Moss, and husband Marlin of Charleston, WV; six grandchildren, Kimberly Reilly and husband Kevin of Pittsburgh, Charlie Moss and companion Michelle Hager, Alicia Pluebell and husband Michael, of Pittsburgh, Samantha Stout of Scott Depot, Carrie Combs and husband Matthew of Charleston and Robert Stout III of Scott Depot. Three great-grandchildren Sarah and Hanna Reilly of Pittsburgh and Cindy Hager of Charleston. Also several special nieces and nephews who are loved deeply and are a very important part of the Stout family. Mr. Stout was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Mr. Stout was a graduate of West Union High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Salem College. He also served four years in the United States Army, serving his country as a World War II veteran. He received several awards including three Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal. Mr. Stout retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company in 1985 as a manager after 36 years of service. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #156 AF&AM, The Moose, Elks Club, VFW and the American Legion. Mr. Stout was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening and was an avid WVU fan. Mr. Stout was a wonderful man who never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be missed greatly, but his memory will live on forever through his family and friends. The family would like to thank St. Joseph's Hospice, especially Harold and Connie, for their help and kindness. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 95 S. Kanawha Street, Buckhannon, WV from 4-8 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2008 and at Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main Street, Salem, WV from 2-8 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2008. Interment will be Friday, October 10, 2008 at Center Point Cemetery following a brief service at the Center Point Christian Church at 2 PM with the minister Roger Fontaine officiating. Clarksburg Lodge # 155 AF & AM will assemble at the church at 1:30 PM for the purpose of attending and conducting Masonic graveside rites. Doddridge combined military organizations will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eva L. Harris Trusler
Eva L. Harris Trusler, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, March 23, 2007 at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice. She was born August 31, 1926 in Swamp Run, WV, a daughter of the late George Wesley and Geneva Goodwin Harris. On August 31, 1947 she married A.G. Trusler who preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. She is survived by two sons, A.G. Trusler, Jr. and wife Marjorie of Buckhannon and Roger L. Trusler of Marlinton, WV; one grandson, Arthur G. Trusler, III of Morgantown, WV; two brothers, Junior Harris and wife Wanda of Maryland and Larrel Harris and wife Jean of Buckhannon; one sister, Shirley Dean and husband David of Buckhannon; four special caregivers, Angie Moore, Sandy Adair, Stephanie Pryor and April Sands. Mrs. Trusler was Owner and Operator for Buckhannon Livestock Restaurant. She was a member of the House of Praise and North Buckhannon United Methodist Church. She also worked at Martin Marietta as a head aircraft riveter during WWII. Friends will be received Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. George Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Harry Cook L. Westphal
Harry Cook L. Westphal, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV formerly of Rochester, NH, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born July 18, 1924 in Rockford, MN, a son of the late Rudolph and Alice Straight Westphal. He is survived by three daughters, Donna Marden and husband Thomas of Rochester, Gail Frye and husband Buck of Buckhannon and Deborah LHorty and husband Edward of Salem, MA; one son, Glenn Westphal and wife Colleen of Glenville, NY; two grandsons, Richard Watson of Salem and Shaun Watson of Coppell, TX; three granddaughters, Kristal Kaylor of Rochester, NH, Stacey Carraro-LHorty of Salem and Jacklyn Westphal of Glenville; two great-granddaughter, Coral Carraro of Danvers, MA and Kaylie Dodge of Rochester; one great-grandson, William Dodge of Rochester; brother, Willard Kritlowe of Howard Lake, MN and former wife, Irene Westphal of Salem. Mr. Westphal served with the US Navy during WW II, was a Union Brick Layer and was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge and the B.P.O.E. Funeral services will be announced at a later date in Salem, MA. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia Avanelle 'Toots' Storti
Virginia Avanelle 'Toots' Storti, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Serenity Care in Buckhannon. She was born December 27, 1914 in Barbour County, WV, a daughter of the late Edgar W. and Lillian Rennix Thacker. On June 16, 1951 she married Oresto Jack Storti who preceded her in death on August 11, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, James W., Delph and Wayland Thacker; one sister, Lillian Maxine Thacker and one nephew, Neale Thacker. She is survived by one step daughter, Rosalie Spangenberg of San Jose, CA; one step son, Vincent Storti of San Francisco, CA; two nieces, Kay Thacker Winebrenner of Amherst, OH and Phyllis Thacker of Buckhannon; two nephews, Bobby Thacker of Florida and Eddie Thacker of Katy, TX; seven great nieces, Debbie Thacker-Wilfong of Buckhannon, Tina Mullendore of Blacksburg, VA, Jersula Thacker of Florida, Kristie Tomes of Richmond, VA, Roberta Kay Thome of Elyria, OH, Angie Barnes of Amherst, OH and Valerie Davoli of Indiana; three great nephews, Steve Thacker of Buckhannon, Christopher Thacker of Louisiana and Neale Winebrenner of Lorain, OH; two great-great nephews, Nick Wilfong of Buckhannon and Douglas Mullendore of Blacksburg and one sister-in-law, Kitty Davidson Thacker of Charleston, WV. Betty Jo Tenney
Betty Jo Tenney, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, February 27, 2011 in Buckhannon. She was born May 31, 1931 in Adrian, WV, a daughter of the late Willis R. and Waneta V. Knicley Riffle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle F. Tenney; two infant children; one brother, James Riffle and one sister in law, Johanna Riffle. She is survived by one daughter, Kelley Ryan of Buckhannon; one son, Mark F. Tenney of Lexington, KY; one grandson; five granddaughters; two sisters, Nancy Casto of Buckhannon and Barbara A. Darocha and husband Jacob of Fairmont, WV and two brothers, Fred Riffle and wife Joanne of French Creek, WV and Roger Riffle and wife Pauline of Copley, OH. Mrs. Tenney was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Friday, March 4, 2011 from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Flynn and the Rev. Stella Moyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. Cynthia Ruth Spencer
Cynthia Ruth Spencer, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born July 27, 1927 in Saxman, WV, a daughter of the late Ira Sanky and Bessie Bennett Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Alvin Cogar; two brothers, Hartzel Shake Spencer and Virgil Spencer and three sisters, Geraldine Susie Skidmore, Ruby Elaine Spencer and Nada Mae Spencer. She is survived by one sister, Nelma Jean Gleason of Albuquerque, NM and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spencer was a homemaker. She attended the Liberty In Christ Church and was a member of the Buckhannon Senior Center. Friends will be received Monday, November 3, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday with Pastor Holly J. Hoover and the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery on Fenwick Mt. In Richwood, WV. Patricia A. Woofter
Patricia Ann Woofter, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at her home while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. She was born April 16, 1942 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Benjamin Wilson and Ethel Moreland Wilson Ogden. On October 3, 1975 she married Thomas Gerald Woofter who preceded her in death on May 9, 2014. She is survived by two sons, Shaun Woofter and wife Caryn and Tommy Woofter and wife Ashlee all of Buckhannon and three granddaughter, Sierra, Electa and Addison Woofter all of Buckhannon. Mrs. Woofter was a Bell Atlantic Operator. Friends will be received Monday, September 22, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Kesling Mill Cemetery at Kesling Mill, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
