William Howard Teter
William Howard Teter, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Holbrooks Nursing Home. He was born July 23, 1913 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Claude Wesley and Grace Reeder Teter. On May 27, 1935 he married Tina Louise Smith who preceded him in death on September 25, 1991. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert B. Teter. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Canfield and husband Ed of Buckhannon; three sons, William C. Teter and wife Lou Ella of Buckhannon, Thomas R. Teter and wife Judy of Buckhannon and Jerry Lee Teter and wife Teresa of Buckhannon; five grandsons, William D. Teter of Chester, SC, Timothy L. Teter of York, SC, David Canfield of Levittown, PA and Allen Canfield and Jacob Teter both of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Vickie Mason of Fincastle, VA and Jessica Teter of Mesa, AZ; two step-grandsons, Steven and Derick Loughlin both of Salsberry, NC; one step-granddaughter, Sasha Loughlin of Statesville, NC; thirteen great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mary Avis Shreve of Buckhannon and Wilda McGough of Columbus, OH. Mr. Teter was a roofing contractor and a member of the Reger Chapel United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Ogden and the Rev. Arthur Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Zola Hyre Smith
Zola Hyre Smith, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Nellas Nursing Home, Inc. in Crystal Springs, WV. She was born September 19, 1919 in French Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Hugh and Clara Haynes Hyre. On January 25, 1947 she married William E. Smith, who preceded her in death on July 14, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Underwood, Mary Mabel Hyre and Dorothy Orndorff. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila K. Johns and husband Howard of Buckhannon; one brother, John M. Hyre and wife Eloise of Warren, OH; one sister, Ernestine Carpenter of Warner Robins, GA; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Stealey of Titusville, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. She was a member of Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion Auxiliary, Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 Ladies Auxiliary and the National Association of Retired and Veterans Railway Employees Inc. Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley and the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7, DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Allen Smith
Thomas Allen Smith, age 22, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, December 21, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born April 24, 1985 in Elkins, WV, a son of the late Vicky Smith Landers. He is survived by his grandfather, Garfield Allen (Tom) Smith of Buckhannon; grandmother, Helen Sue Smith of Buckhannon; one brother, Howard Landers, II of Buckhannon; two sisters, Karen Sue Smith of Buckhannon and Joanna Lea Landers of Buckhannon; step grandmother, Virgie Landers of Buckhannon and two aunts, Ellen Tenney of Buckhannon and Madaline Bowman of Salem, WV and several aunts and uncles. Friends will be received Sunday, December 23, 2007 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpson Cemetery in Roanoke, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Debra L. Sands
Debra L. Sands, age 49, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at her home. She was born November 7, 1958 in Illinois, a daughter of Audrey DeVore Bonadore of Kenosha, WI and the late George Bonadore. On March 16, 1976 she married James Mike Sands who survives. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jennifer R. Sands of Buckhannon; one son, Dylan J. Sands of Buckhannon; three brothers, Brian Bonadore of Kenosha, Mike Bonadore and wife Judy of Kenosha and Steve Bonadore and wife Judy of Albuquerque, NM and two sisters, Sharon Bonadore of Kenosha and Brenda McKee of Kenosha. Mrs. Sands was a homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church of Hackers Creek, WV. Friends will be received Saturday, December 29, 2007 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mona Jackson and the Rev. Oren Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Sands Family Cemetery on Hackers Creek. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Richard Thornhill
Kenneth Richard Thornhill, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born April 8, 1923 in Camden, WV, a son of the late Zackeria Henry and Stella Jane Smith Thornhill. On March 1, 1948 he married Mary Josephine Lake who preceded him in death on June 26, 2000. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard, Alpha, Alva, William Henry and Paul Thornhill and one sister, Opal Thornhill. He is survived by one son, Rev. Donald Butcher and wife Pamela of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Traci Allison Dunmire and husband Todd of Hurricane, WV; one grandson, Brock Alex Butcher of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Allison Claire Dunmire of Hurricane; one great-grandson, Cameron Todd Dunmire of Hurricane; one brother, Clarence Edward Thornhill of Clarksburg, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Thornhill was a Stock Room Clerk for Moore Business Forms. He was a member of the Wayside Southern Baptist Church. He had gone through the CCC Camps, Camp Bower, Camp Panther and Camp Lewis before enlisting in the Army in 1942-1945 and later served with the US Air Force. He was part of the Omaha invasion and a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion. Friends will be received Sunday, April 29, 2007 from 3-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanee Dodie Nikole Tenney
Wanee Dodie Nikole Tenney, age 36, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born July 15, 1972 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of Carole L. Fowler Overfield of Buckhannon and the late John Wesley Overfield. On June 29, 1991 she married Randy Tenney who survives. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by three daughters, Morgan Nikole Tenney, Cassie Leanne Tenney and Emily Hope Tenney all of Buckhannon; one sister, Tina Shaver of Buckhannon; two brothers, Robbie Shaver and wife Lee of Buckhannon and Rod Shaver and wife Rosa of Buckhannon; a special uncle, Jerry Fowler of Girard, OH; special nieces, Kayla Long and Jordan Shaver both of Buckhannon; special nephew, Seth Shaver of Buckhannon; mother in law, Rosemary Tenney of Buckhannon; three brothers in law, Lenney Tenney and wife Carole of Buckhannon, John Tenney and wife Flo of Buckhannon and Chris Tenney and wife Lisa of Buckhannon; two sisters in law, Diana Gregory and husband Jim of Buckhannon and Mary Hawkins and husband Randy of Buckhannon and five nieces, Carly, Samantha, Amanda, Stephanie and Addison all of Buckhannon. Dodie was a Secretary at the Intermediate School in Upshur County and a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church. Friends will be received Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the Sand Run Baptist Church. Funeral will be held 2 PM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles R. Sheets
Charles R. Sheets, age 64, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at his home. He was born July 31, 1943 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Charles and Erma E. Robinson Sheets. On April 11, 1969 he married Dorothy A. DeBarr who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jill Ann Wood and husband David of Weston, WV and Ginger Himes and husband Martin of Buckhannon; three sons, Rodney Lee Sheets of South Hill, VA, Nick Sheets and wife Kim of TN and Mike Kelley and wife Melanie of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Michael Kelley and wife Carissa of Buckhannon, Tyler Wood of Weston and Cameron Sheets of South Hill; four granddaughters, Jennifer Hatfield and husband Billy of Buckhannon, Leslie Sheets of Buckhannon, Elizabeth Sheets of Buckhannon and Teshia Williams of Elkins, WV; one great-granddaughter, Helena Hatfield of Buckhannon; three brothers, Ronald Sheets of Buckhannon, Jimmy Sheets of Jane Lew, WV and Danny Sheets of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sheets was an Assistant Supervisor for Department of Highways and a member of the Tallmansville Baptist Church. Friends will be received Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery at Ten Mile, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Michael Tenney
Larry Michael Tenney, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born August 27, 1942 in Randolph County, WV, a son of Mamie L. Smith Tenney of Buckhannon and the late Ura O. Tenney. In addition to his mother he is survived by one sister, Barbara Lipscomb and husband Mac of Reedsville, WV; one brother, Garry Tenney and wife Alice of St. Petersburg, FL; a nephew, Ryan Lipscomb of Reedsville and several aunts and uncles. Mr. Tenney was retired from the US Army with twenty years of service, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a Methodist by faith, a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 and the Library Club. Friends will be received Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He will Lie in state from 12-1 PM the funeral hour on Friday at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church with Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapter # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Bernice Leona Tomey
Bernice Leona Tomey, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. She was born February 11, 1934 in Gilmer County, WV, a daughter of the late Maise and Pearl Young Furr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Helen Carr and Wahneta Powell. She is survived by one daughter, Lori Dawn Ward and husband John of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Katherine Jean Ward of Buckhannon; one grandson, John Charlton Ward, III of Buckhannon; two sisters, Verlyn Rexroad of Buckhannon and Murl Smith of Cincinnati, OH and three brothers, Guy Furr of Medina, OH, Kenneth Nelson Furr of Lodi, OH and Larry Furr of Weston, WV. Mrs. Tomey was a schoolteacher for Upshur County Board of Education and a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Velma Sue Shoulders
Velma Sue Shoulders, age 65, of Adrian, WV died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She was born July 21, 1942 in Linn, WV, a daughter of the late Archie and Ethel Carr McHenry. On August 3, 1963 she married Elza Kyle Shoulders who preceded her in death on November 12, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Jackie and Larry McHenry and one sister, Virginia Carte. She is survived by one son, Russell Shoulders and wife Kristine of Buckhannon; three grandson, James Hebb, Joshua Black and Adam Shoulders all of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Kristen Hebb, Katie and Amber Shoulders all of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Faith Hyre of Buckhannon; three brothers, Junior McHenry of Cross Lanes, WV, Eugene McHenry of Akron, OH and Wayne McHenry of Lost Creek, WV and one sister, Marie McHenry of Duck, WV. Mrs. Shoulders was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. Friends will be received Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Church Cemetery in French Creek, WV. Florence Maude Kimble Tenney
Florence Maude Kimble Tenney, age 92, a resident of Buckhannon, departed this life September 23, 2008. She was born June 9, 1916, a daughter of the late Wilbert Issac Kimble and Bertha Kathern Trussler Kimble. She married French Tenney on April 14, 1933. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1998. Surviving are one son, Denver N. Tenney and wife Joan of Indian Land, South Carolina; one daughter, Sylvia Kister of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Lorna Hollen of Charleston, WV and Florence Tenney and husband John of Buckhannon and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Tenney of Buckhannon. Preceding her in death was a grandson, Marvin Tenney. Also surviving are two brothers, Othie Kimble of North Ridgeville, Ohio and Riley Kimble of Elyria, Ohio and one sister, Annie Fletcher of Philippi, WV. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were four brothers, Albert Red Kimble, Clarence Kimble, Wayne Kimble and George Kimble and three sisters, Lora Kimble, Icie Mahaffey and Marquerite Hawkins. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a member of Tallmansville Baptist Church. She had many friends and loved ones in Christ. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis, the Rev. Othie Kimble, Jr. and the Rev. John Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park at Tennerton. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
