Ralph Edward 'Eddie' Shreve
Ralph Edward 'Eddie' Shreve, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born January 28, 1945 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Enoch Ralph and Ina Lee Tallman Shreve. On November 15, 1963 he married Carolyn Joyce Hawkins who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl McCord and husband Roger of Bellevue, NE, Debra South and husband Michael of Plattsmouth, NE and Terri Woods and husband Doug of Warrenton, VA; two sons, Robert Bubba Shreve and wife Melanie of Buckhannon and Christopher Shreve and wife Shalom of Bellingham, WA; five grandsons, Josh McCord of Omaha, NE, Tyler and Coleman Shreve both of Buckhannon, Matthew South of Plattsmouth and Enoch Shreve of Bellingham; five granddaughters, Erica McCord Emington of Portales, NM, Clara Woods of Warrenton, VA, Michaela South of Plattsmouth, Jennifer Woods of Warrenton and Scarlet Shreve of Bellingham; one great-grandson, Brennan Emington of Portales; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Emington of Portales; one brother, Bobby Shreve and wife Linda of Buckhannon and three sisters, JoAnn Hawkins and husband Glen of Rock Cave, WV, Patty Bennett and husband Darrell of Buckhannon and Jodie Moran and husband Terry of Lexington, KY. Mr. Shreve was a drywaller and co-owner of Shreve Drywalling founded by his father Ralph Shreve. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved music and fishing. Friends will be received Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Lou Smith
Mary Lou Smith, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and great friend, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born September 1, 1938 in Bergton, VA, a daughter of the late Waldo Barnes and Margie Dove Halterman. On July 9, 1958 she married William Hartsel Smith, Jr. who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Roger William Smith and wife Cheri of Weston, WV and Jerry Hartsel Smith and wife Monica of Berne, IN; two daughters, Karen McDavid and husband Ricky of Sinking Spring, PA and Donna Creel and husband Ronald of Luray, VA; three grandsons, Steven Creel of Hawaii, Christopher McDavid of State College, PA and Jacob Smith of Berne; five granddaughters, Tami Byron of Newport News, VA, Crystal Creel of Manassas, VA, Jamie Blomberg of Madison Heights, VA, Nicole Creel of Luray, VA and Elizabeth Smith of Berne; four great-grandsons, Gavin and Aidan Byron both of Newport News and Michael and Zachary Blomberg both of Madison Heights; one sister, Lillian Virginia Elliott of Keddysville, MD; one half sister, Wanda Estes of Daytona Beach, FL; and one half brother, Herman Halterman of Bergton, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Barnes and James Franklin Halterman. Mary was a legal secretary and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Friday, January 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she will lie-in-state from 2-3 PM the funeral hour with Pastor Rick Cutright officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Evelyn Shreve
Dorothy Evelyn Shreve, age 87, of Volga, WV died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Holbrooks Nursing Home in Buckhannon, WV. She was born December 11, 1923 in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late Harry F. and Daisy Bolinger Poling. On June 30, 1962 she married Wilson T. Shreve who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Linda Dowell of Volga; one brother, Donald F. Poling and wife Alice of Crossville, TN; special nephew, Philip Gerkin and wife Sylvia of Strongsville, OH; two sisters in law, Verla K. Lamb of Elkins, WV and Wanda Harris and husband Junior of Hughesville, MD and two brothers in law, Paul Shreve of Spring Hill, FL and Robert M. Shreve of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Paulene F. Flanagan. Mrs. Shreve was a member of St. Johns Methodist Church in Grafton, WV. She spent most of her career in Grafton, graduating at age 16 and working for the Air Service Command during WW II. After the war, she became a legal secretary working for various lawyers as well as being court stenographer in Grafton. She retired in 1985 from Equitable Gas Company. Dorothy was a member of the Philippi Lodge # 44 American Legion Ladies Aux. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sue Lowther officiating. Private burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Philippi, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Alzheimers Foundation, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Lynn Skidmore
Gary Lynn Skidmore, age 66, of Jane Lew, WV died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his home. He was born June 30, 1944 in Sutton, WV a son of the late Aaron W. and Agatha Woods Skidmore. On February 17, 1975 he married Carol Arlene Daugherty who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Arden Lynn Bucket Skidmore and wife Wendy of Lost Creek, WV; two sisters, Joy Stutler and husband Jerry of NC and Treva Sirk and husband Randy of VA; four nieces, Kay Cantrell, Janet Dear, Ann Stutler and Danielle Morris; and two nephews, Aaron Sirk and Mark Kidd. Mr. Skidmore was a Christian by faith and a Funeral Director at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Vietnam and was active as a scoutmaster of Troop #72. He was a Charter member of the East Lewis County Lions Club and a member of the WV Funeral Directors Association. Friends will be received Friday, March 18, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dwayne Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the Friendship Cemetery in Jane Lew where military honors will be conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ula Estelle Sams
Ula Estelle Sams, newborn daughter of Nathaniel Loyd and Callie Cronin Sams of Buckhannon, WV was born and passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Isaac Smith Sams of Buckhannon; maternal grandparents, Terry and Linda Cronin of Buckhannon; paternal grandmother, Sue McCue and husband Dave of Parkersburg, WV; paternal grandfather, John Sams of Parkersburg; maternal great-grandparents, McKinley and Marjorie Luther of Buckhannon; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Cronin of Pittsburgh, PA; uncle, Tim Cronin of Washington, DC and aunt, Jennifer Fenton and husband David of Williamstown, WV. Ula Estelle weighed 5 lbs. and 11 oz. and was 19 inches long. She loved long walks, shower time, ice cream and dancing along to her father playing music. A private family graveside service was held at the French Creek Memorial Gardens in French Creek, WV with Angela Gay Kinkead officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 1 Amalia Drive, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Elsie L. Smith
Elsie L. Smith, age 61, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg, WV. She was born February 19, 1950 in Sand Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Glen Wesley and Mamie Mae Fisher Knight. On March 31, 1967 she married Paul W. Smith who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Robin Diane Wilson and husband Alvin of Gaines, WV, Janice Day of Buckhannon and Glenda Lewis and husband Lynn of Buckhannon; two sons, Paul B. Smith and wife Melissa of Buckhannon and Joseph Smith and wife Bula of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Nathan Day of Buckhannon, Justin Wilson of Gaines, WV and Keagon Lewis of Buckhannon; six granddaughters, Courtney Smith, Kelsey Day, Taylor and Casey Smith, Alexis Lewis and Xylia Lewis all of Buckhannon; four brothers, Charles Knight of CA, Dale Knight and wife Rose of Buckhannon, Gale Knight of OH and Gilbert Knight of Buckhannon; two sisters, Virginia Moore of TX and Myrtle Shipman and husband John of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Kenneth and Bud Knight and four sisters, Susie Goodwin, Hazel and Mildred Knight and Judy Heater. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping and spending time with her grandkids. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 11 AM until 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Francis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Rupert Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Mattie Grey Shobe
Mattie Grey Shobe, age 95, of Buckhannon, WV and formerly of Heaston Road, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the home of her son William Fred Shobe. She was born February 1, 1916 in Cave Run, WV, a daughter of the late Henry F. and Victoria Davidson Siron. On May 18, 1933 she married Hugh Shobe who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Maxon and Cecil Siron. She is survived by two sons, William Fred Shobe and wife Nancy of Buckhannon and David Shobe and wife Becky of OK; one daughter, Doris Moss of OH; four grandsons, Aeric Smallwood of OH; Samuel Smallwood and wife Terri of WV, Troy Shobe of WV and Christopher Shobe of OK; two granddaughters, Suzanne Shobe-Myers and husband Jerry of Heaston Road and Sarah Shobe-Waquespack of LA; great-grandson, Caleb Myers of Heaston Road and two sisters, Ruby Schoch and husband Bernard of FL and Opal Blair of MD. Mrs. Shobe was a homemaker. She was a member of the Straight Fork United Methodist Church, a 56-year member of the Straight Fork CEOs. Grey loved the Lord and accepted him as her savior when she was a child. She loved to quilt, crochet, cook and garden. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 2-3 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Kara Phillippi officiating. Burial will follow in the Straight Fork Church Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marcelene A. Sapp
Marcelene A. Sapp, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born July 21, 1926 in Taylor County, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Hurbert and Lula Orrell Demoss Saucer. On November 25, 1954 she married Eugene J. Sapp who preceded her in death on December 19, 2011. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dorsey, Willis, and Thomas Saucer and three sisters, Hazel Nye and Martha Louise Saucer and a twin sister Cathleen Cooper. She is survived by one son, Timothy Sapp of Buckhannon; one daughter, Sheri-Lyn Sapp of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sapp was a homemaker and a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church. She graduated from Salem College. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Seventh-day Adventist Church. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday at the church with the Pastor Rick Cutright officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Virginia Scott
Virginia Scott, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born February 24, 1919 in Beverly, WV, a daughter of the late William M. and Edna Thomason Wilfong. On December 28, 1941 she married William Coy Scott who preceded her in death on January 23, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five sisters, Viola Cutright, Gail Lewis, Laura Cutright, Dove Bonner and Nettie Simms and three brothers, Cecil, Laco and Martin Wilfong. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Scott was a Beautician and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. She was devoted to the neighbors, family and the church. Friends will be received Monday, February 4, 2013 from 4-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Tuesday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwin Steward Smith, III
Edwin Steward Smith, III, age 53, of French Creek, WV, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born May 10, 1959 in Mt. Holly, NJ, the son of Edwin S., Jr. and Joan Williams Smith of Pine Hill, NJ. On July 9, 1999 he married Tammy L. Heckman who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tarah Smith of Pine Hill and Dottie Jordan of Buckhannon, WV; one grandson, John Jacobs of Berlin, NJ; two granddaughters, Malia Jacobs of Berlin and Savannah McCartney of Buckhannon; one brother, John Smith of Pine Hill; two sisters, Debra Smith of Ventnor, NJ and Denise Kale of Elk Township, NJ; and his father and mother in law, Jack and Dorothy Petrosh of French Creek. He was a carpenter and a member of Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598. Friends will be received 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon.
