Claude Earl Williams
Claude Earl Williams, age 88, of Ten Mile, WV, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at his home. He was born July 2, 1920 in Alton, WV, a son of the late Everett Leroy Williams and Creta Mae (Hollen) Mayer and step father Edmund Joseph Mayer. On February 2, 1946 he married Lula Eileen Sue Tallman who preceded him in death on July 30, 2008. He is survived by four daughters, Susan Petree and husband Pete of Ten Mile, WV, Marcia Cross and husband Albie of Fairmont, WV, Jenelda Puzzo and husband Dan of Woodstock, IL and Sandra Carney and husband Ed of Abingdon, VA; one son, Mark Williams and wife Twila of Tallmansville, WV; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; step sister, Norma Jean Smith of Berlin, MD and half sister, Carol Ann Lanham of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step sister, Evelyn Elizabeth Kagle. Mr. Williams was an electrician for Union Carbide. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and winemaking. He was a member of the Ten Mile United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was also a member of the Tennerton Lions Club, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM of which he was Past Master, the Upshur County Shrine Club, Osiris Shriners, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Beni Kedem Temple Patrol of which he was Past President. Friends will be received Friday, January 30, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with son-in-law, Daniel A. Puzzo officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery at Ten Mile, WV. Honorary Pallbearers will be the nine grandsons. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1645 W 8th St., Erie, PA 16505. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Stephen Ralph Workman, Sr.
Stephen Ralph Workman, Sr., age 57, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Charleston Area Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1951 in Madison, WV a son of Irene Workman of Seth, WV and the late Benjamin Benny Workman. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one brother, William Workman. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Andrea Workman, two sons, Gunnery Sergeant Stephen Ralph Workman, Jr. of Jacksonville, NC and Gunnery Sergeant Shawn Ray Workman and wife April of Plato, MO; one daughter, Consuela Lynn Keener and husband Jason of Summersville, WV; one very special stepdaughter, Jami Allison Cook; eight grandchildren, Stephen Ralph Workman III, Carissa and Brooke Thompson of Ashford, WV, Shawn Austin and Hunter Workman of Plato, Michael Monhollen and Colten and Jace Keener of Summersville; one great-granddaughter, Keira Stewart of Ashford, WV and one sister, Wanda Workman and husbsand Clyde of Comfort, WV. Steve held many electrical certifications related to his work. He was a certified master electrician through the state of WV, a certified mine electrician for surface and underground installations through the state of WV, a certified construction superintendent though the state of WV and a certified mine electrician for surface and underground installations through the United States Department of Labor. Steve began his career in the Kanawha Valley working for Cedar Creek Coal Co. Upon moving to Buckhannon he worked for Island Creek Coal Co. at the Tallmansville Surface Mine. After that operation closed, Steve worked for about one year for Arch Coal Co. in Logan County. For the Past nineteen years Steve has worked for Electrotech in Buckhannon as Electrical Superintendent. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday, February 3, 2009 from 3 PM-7 PM the funeral hour, with the Rev. Dave Cunningham officiating. Private burial will be in the Buckhannon Memorial Park Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline Williams
Pauline Williams passed away on March 9, 2009 at her home in Front Royal, VA. She was a member of Mt. Nebo church and attended both Faith Way Baptist Church and Church of the Nazarene in Phillipi, WV. She was the daughter of Archie Wright and Fannie Carter Wright. She was predeceased by her husband, Odford Williams, one daughter Lauganda Williams, one son Clarence Williams and two sisters, Montana Ball and Josephine Fortney. She is survived by a daughter, Guylow Lucy Beaty of Front Royal, VA, two granddaughters, Paula Wayland and Christy Grady, and one grandson, Donnie Beaty, all of Front Royal, VA, four great grandsons, Michal Beaty, of Burlington VT, Christopher Grady, Tommy Wayland, and Donnie Beaty, Jr., two great granddaughters, Mary Beth Wayland and Christa Grady all of Front Royal, VA one brother, Aubrey Wright of Moatsville, WV and one sister, Geraldine Oldaker, of Buckhannon, WV. Family and Friends will be received Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be directed by Pastor Gregory at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Irene Whiting
Emma Irene Whiting, age 84, of Canton, OH died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Green Meadows Health Care Facility in Louisville, OH. She was born May 22, 1925 in Gad, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Ira and Harriet Alice Maloney McClung. On May 27, 1948 she married Donald Edward Whiting, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Peggy Ellen Dick of Louisville, OH and Dorothy Elaine Whiting of Akron, OH; one son, Donald Edward Whiting, Jr. and wife Tonya of Bolivar, OH and one sister Sue White of Chattanooga, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Andrews and one brother-in-law, Billy Whiting. Mrs. Whiting was an Office Manager at Kent State University, Stark Campus. Friends will be received from 2-3 PM, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 PM with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Macel B. Wilson
Macel B. Wilson, age 86, of French Creek, WV and formerly of Rock Cave, WV, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Heartland of Clarksburg in Clarksburg, WV. She was born June 6, 1923 in Lewis County, WV, a daughter of the late Dale and Flora Smith Crawford. On February 23, 1944 she married Glenn O. Wilson who preceded her in death on January 6, 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Argel, Basil, Marvin and Charles Crawford. She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Carr and husband Louis of French Creek and JoAn McKisic and husband Beryl of Buckhannon; a sister, Mildred Bonnet of Weston, WV; several nieces and nephews and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson graduated from Walkersville High School, was a homemaker, and a member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church. Friends will be received Monday, October 26, 2009 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10-11 AM the funeral hour on Tuesday at the Rock Cave Baptist Church with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Don Eugene Williams
Don Eugene Williams, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home. He was born September 5, 1922 in Hamlin, WV, a son of the late Philip Ranson and Blanche Scites Williams. On April 16, 1971 he married Betty Jo Callaway who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Howes and husband Mike of Sterling, VA, Becky Kittka and husband Joe of Round Hill, VA and Debra Moss and husband John of Buckhannon; two sons, Pat Williams and wife Peggy of Cedar Park, TX and Mike Williams of Counterport, PA; two granddaughters, Lori Tafazoli and husband Dr. Mark Tafazoli and Jenny Eggleston; nine grandsons, Chris Cole, Chris Howes, Alex Kittka, Jonathan Williams, Daniel Williams, Roger Queen, JC Moss, Jeremy Moss and Dustin Moss; several great-grandchildren; sister in law, Virginia Williams of Katy, TX and son in law, John Paul Cole. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his 1st wife, Phyllis Shepp Williams; one daughter, Vicki Cole; one brother, Philip Godfrey Williams and one sister, Lois Eloise Williams. Don was a product of West Virginia in the purest sense of the word. A child of the Depression, he grew up passed among various families of relatives, and although money was scare, he often said that he always felt surrounded by love. Like many of his later friends, he found The Civilian Conservation Corps a valuable stepping-stone toward his future, and he always took pride in having served in the CCCs. During World War II, he served in the US Navy, and later graduated from WV University with a degree in Forestry. He held positions with the Forestry Service, Soil Conservation Service, and, finally, became a District Director for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, moving his family from Mineral County to Wyoming and Raleigh Counties in the process. He was active in The Lions Club, served on the County Water Commission, and took the position of Treasurer of the First United Methodist Church, which he held for a number of years. One of his greatest pleasures in later years came from his propagation of roses, and he delighted in sharing a variety of the lovely blossoms with friends throughout Buckhannon, frequently taking stems to folks at the bank and restaurants as well as the annual rose dinner for the Fred Brooks Garden Club. For many years, he particularly enjoyed having breakfast at The Old Mill with friends, where they discussed the goings on about town. His other great passion was his love for the people of WV, and he could spin yarns for hours about characters with whom hed come in contact during the years. Buckhannon was very special to him, and he always felt that the town had embraced his family at the time when he most needed it. Many of his conversations with family members began, You know, this is a great little town And so it has been. Friends will be received Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 4-6 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billie Scott Mick and the Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Ray Wilt
Robert Ray Wilt, age 80, of Morgantown, WV died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. He was born April 19, 1929 in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Audra and Nora Riggleman Wilt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Jim Wilt, one sister, Anna Ruth Wilt and one brother Jack Wilt. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Spaur and husband Sam of Ballard, WV and Tammy Buscher and husband Richard of Nashville, TN; two sons, Bob Wilt and wife Cheryl of Buckhannon and Tom Wilt and wife Mimi of Welcome, NC; four granddaughters, Lisa Buckland of Kingsland, GA, Ashley Marple of Buckhannon and Kaysie and Gracie Wilt of Welcome; four grandsons, Josh Wilt of Buckhannon, Matthew Spaur of Ballard, WV, Andrew Spaur of Peterstown, WV and J. T. Wilt of Welcome; two great grandsons, Jacob Buckland and Landon Marple; three great granddaughters, Olivia Buckland, Presley Wilt and Kynnedy Marple; one sister, Oneta Stone of Buckhannon; and one brother Junior Wilt of Durham, NC. Mr. Wilt served with the US Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Reidsville, WV. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 12 2 PM. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Hagedorn. Burial will be in the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Erwin Edward Wines
Erwin Edward Wines, age 77, of Volga, WV died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born February 25, 1933 in Syracuse, NY, a son of the late Leland and Gladys Bordell Wines. On February 25, 1975 he married Violet Eva Ware who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Margie Faulkner of Williamstown, NY and one half brother, Billy Mattice of NY, three grandchildren, Tanya Kuropatwinski, Nancy Ruetsch, and Willow Faulkner all of New York; and three great grandchildren, Rowan Kuropatwinski, Sarah-Grace Ruetsch and Ava Kuropatwinski. Also surviving are two step-sons, Randy Dean and wife Violet of Buckhannon, and Eddie Dean and Becky of Rock Cave; and two step-daughters, Carolyn Smaldone and husband Eric and Janet Posey all of Palm Beach Garden, Florida, four step-grandchildren, Randy Dean Jr., Dustin Dean, Jason Dean and Tyler Smaldone, and three step-great grandchildren, Alex Dean, Harley Dean and Brooklyn Dean. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Gugliotti; one half brother, Eddy Mattice; one daughter, Jannie Roehm and one son, Erwin Wines Jr. Mr. Wines was a clerk for the Louise A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was a member of the End Time Ministries Word of Life Church. He served in the US Army during Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded the Purple Heart. Memorial service will be held 12 Noon Friday, April 2, 2010 at the End Time Ministries Word of Life Church with Pastor Keith Francis officiating. Charles Edward Wood
Charles Edward Wood, age 88, of Port Saint Lucie, FL died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at his home. He was born February 9, 1922 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Guy Reger and Flora Virginia Lantz Wood. On December 29, 1941 he married Tressie Marie Bennett who preceded him in death on September 8, 2000. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Kenneth Wood. He is survived by two daughters, Charlene Simmons of Clinton, MD and Joyce Marie Redding of Fredericksburg, VA; two granddaughters, Machelle Sabol of Lakeview, CA and Dina Weisenburg of Fredericksburg, VA; one grandson, Curtis Simmons of Port Saint Lucie and a special nephew, Denny Wood of Huntington, WV. Mr. Wood was a coal miner and a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663. He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army. He was inducted on March 8, 1943 and was discharged on December 17, 1945. He served in Rhineland and Central Europe, while serving he received the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon, the American Theater and the European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon. Friends will be received Friday, May 7, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery at Philippi, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Aubry Angell Wilson
Aubry Angell Wilson, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was the son of the late Mardis Glenn and Velma Pearl Wilson. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Margaret Wass Wilson. Also surviving are a daughter, Theresa A. Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA; two sons, David Allen Wilson and wife Barbette Shannon Wilson of Fairmont, WV, and Daniel Schley Wilson and wife Sarah Young Wilson of Morgantown; grandchildren, [Cameron Hefner, Casey Hefner, Cayla Hefner, Liam Conner Wilson, Aryanna Brie Wilson all of Fairmont] grandchildren, {Duncan Schley Wilson, and Brigid Ann Wilson both of Morgantown]; three sisters, JoAnn Appling of Ocala, FL, Anita Mason of Lexington, KY and Janis Merrill of Ft. Collins, CO; one brother, Eugene Wilson of New City, NY/ Washington, DC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Wilson and Mary Leist, and two brothers, Mardis Glenn Wilson, Jr. and James Audis Wilson. Mr. Wilson attended Upshur County Schools and was a graduate of WVU with degrees in Horticulture and Masters of Extension Education. He served in the US Army Signal Corps and was stationed overseas in Germany. He began his professional career as the 4-H Club Agent for Ritchie County, WV. He subsequently taught horticulture at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA and Vocational Tech School in New Brunswick, NJ. He assisted the Allegheny Park System with the design of several parks as well as developed the horticulture curriculum taught nationally at vocational tech schools. In 1980 Mr. Wilson returned to Buckhannon to start Central WV Nursery. Mr. Wilson was an active member of the various communities in which he lived. He was president of JayCees in Harrisville, county chairman of March Of Dimes in Ritchie County, and president of Buckhannon Lions Club. He has been a member of Lions International for fifty years. He is active in the Upshur County Farmers Market and holds the honor of being selected Strawberry King twice. Additionally he was a member of Alpha Gamma Ro Fraternity and a WV 4-H All Star. He was a member of the Upshur County Farm Bureau, Buckhannon Chamber of Commerce, and WV Nurserymans Association. He had recently been elected to the Upshur County School Board. Mr. Wilson was active in politics and the Republican Party. He was very active with the Methodist Church in which he has served as a lay leader at the First United Methodist Church. He was also active with Methodist Mens program and frequently attended services at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and Rock Cave United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 4-9 PM. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Meadows and the Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Harrisville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
