Danny K. Wamsley
Danny K. Wamsley, age 66, of Buckannon, WV died July 16, 2014 at the St. Joseph's Hospital NCF. He was born June 7, 1948 in Elkins, WV a son of the late Ray and Dollie Koon Wamsley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, Lorn, Karrol, Ronnie, Dennis Eugene, Willard and Garnet Wamsley and one sister, Helen Ruth Gower. He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Jean Morgan and husband Donnie of Fairmont, WV; one son, Daniel David Wamsley of Buckhannon; one grandson, Alexander Wamsley of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Allison Crites of Fairmont, Alysiea Wamsley and Shealyn Wamsley both of Buckhannon; two sisters, Glenna Fletcher and Arawana Tenney both of Buckhannon; four brothers, Charles G. Wamsley of Buckhannon, Douglas Wamsley of Ellamore, WV, Thomas Wamsley of Buckhannon and Jim Wamsley of Geneva, OH. Mr. Wamsley was a retired coal miner and a member of Sand Run Baptist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, July 18, 2014 from 11 AM 1 PM the funeral hour, with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ronnie L. Wamsley
Ronnie L. Wamsley, age 74, of Ellamore, WV, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home. He was born October 26, 1938 in Kittle Run, WV, a son of the late Ray and Dollie O. Koon Wamsley. On May 21, 1960 he married Patricia J. Webster who preceded him in death on September 16, 2000. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard, Loren, Karrol, Garnett and Dennis Wamsley and one sister, Ruth Gower. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Stinson and husband Thomas of Buckhannon; four sons, Alton Wamsley of Buckhannon, Tim, Jeff and Robbie Wamsley and wife Jennifer all of Ellamore; one granddaughter, Chelsea Wamsley of Ellamore; five grandsons, Justin Stinson and wife Michelle, Alton Wamsley, Jr., and wife Paris, Cody Stinson and Alex Wamsley all of Buckhannon and Eddie Wamsley of Ellamore; one great granddaughter, Kaylee Stinson of Buckhannon; one great grandson, Tyler Stinson of Buckhannon; five brothers, Jim Wamsley of Geneva, OH, Douglas Wamsley of Ellamore, Tom, Charlie and Danny Wamsley all of Buckhannon and two sisters, Glenna Fletcher of Buckhannon and Arawana Tenney of Ellamore. Mr. Wamsley was a coal miner for 40 years. He loved hunting, fishing and 4 wheeling. Friends will be received Monday, January 28, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Rexroad officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Phyllis Ellen Wamsley
Phyllis Ellen Wamsley, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 23, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital NCF in Buckhannon. She was born July 27, 1943 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Rondel Carl and Emma Kathleen Carpenter Beam. On January 4, 1964 she married Charles Wamsley who survives. Also surviving are one son, Randall Wamsley and wife Ausencia of Lexington, NC; one brother, Thomas Ray Beam of Ellamore, WV; four sisters, Brenda Kay Hamilton, Carolyn June Williams and Debra Lynn Sims all of Ellamore and Barbara Jean Cerullo of Buckhannon and one son in law, David Ray Byrd of Hodgesville, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Donald Wamsley; one daughter, Sheila Byrd; one brother, Marvin Carl Beam and two sisters, Connie Maxine Phillips Gower and Mildred Lea Booth. Mrs. Wamsley was a homemaker and attended the Sand Run Baptist Church. Friends will be received at the Sand Run Baptist Church on Monday, January 26, 2009 from 12 Noon until 2 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Donald Butcher and the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Wamsley
Louise Wamsley, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Wedesday, May 9, 2012 at her home. She was born May 21, 1926 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late French and Beppa Love Lance Cutright. On April 10, 1944 she married Lloyd Sheridan Wamsley, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1983. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy McVicker of Buckhannon and Patricia Regina Bennett and husband Bradford of Olney Mill, MD; one son, Randy Lee Wamsley of Shinnston, WV; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Wamsley was a homemaker and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Buckhannon. She enjoyed children, cooking, sewing, puzzles, quilting, and received several blue ribbons in the Strawberry Festival for her quilts and she always tried to help her neighbors. Friends will be received from 12-2 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Marvin Wamsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Hoy Forrest Walton
Hoy Forrest Walton, 69, of Buckhannon, died April 16, 2008 at Colonial Place in Elkins, where he had been a resident for the past year, also under the care of Mountain Hospice. He was born Oct. 19, 1938 at Hacker Valley, a son of the late Landis Adam Walton and Goldie Christine Rice Walton. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Jean Queen Walton; two sons, Ronald Allen Fuzz Walton and his wife Sharon of French Creek and Michael Lynn Walton and his wife Becky of Buckhannon; five grandchildren, Cody Walton and Dusty Walton of French Creek, and Justin Walton, Catherine Catie Walton and Hannah Walton of Buckhannon; one sister Lola Walton Lantz and her husband Arden of Mineral Wells; three aunts, Joy Gregory Loudin of Buckhannon, Margie Sites of Rock Cave and Lena Hardman of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Brooks Walton of Parkersburg and Landis Edward Walton of Florida and one nephew Scott Edward Walton of Florida. He attended Academy Grade School, Buckhannon-Upshur Junior High School and B-U High School. He was employed at Upshur Coals at Adrian as preparation plant foreman until the mine closed in the late 80s. He was employed as plant electrician at Pittsburgh Tube at Jane Lew until his retirement. In earlier years, he was employed at the Buckhannon Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Buckhannon Lanes and Corhart Refractories. He was mechanically gifted and took great joy in fixing things for his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed hunting, camping, reading, doing crossword puzzles, music, working on construction projects at his home, debating issues with his sons, and never missed an opportunity to tell a good joke. In earlier years, he enjoyed talking on the CB radio and was known as Hawkeye. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Buckhannon Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He was a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received Friday, April 18, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Cunningham and the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Pall bearers will include Ronald Walton, Michael Walton, Arden Lantz, Dusty Williams, Mark Miles, Randall Queen, Lowell Queen and Larry Mackey. Honorary pall bearers include Cody Walton, Justin Walton and Dusty Walton. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St. Clair

Ruth L. Waybright
Ruth L. Waybright, age 82, of Buckhannon, WV, Kesling Mill Community, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Stonewall Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She was born on February 18, 1926 at Sully, WV a daughter of the late Dillon and Hettie Long Helmick Thompson. On May 7, 1945 she married Sturl Robert Waybright who preceded her in death April 24, 2000. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Phillips and husband Roger of Nutter Fort, WV, Helen R. Phillips and husband Larry of Buckhannon; two sons, Sturl R. Waybright, Jr. and wife Carol of Buckhannon and Carl R. Waybright and wife Sherry of Buckhannon; one grandson, Dustin Waybright of Cincinnati, OH; six granddaughters, Jennifer Holipski of Quiet Dell, WV, Stacy Marteney of Buckhannon, Amy Huff of Nutter Fort, Tonya Hinkle of Summersville, WV, Denice Jeran, Alicia Phillips both of Buckhannon; two step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bruce and, Hugh Thompson both of Sully, WV and Frank Thompson of Mechanicsville, MD; three sisters, Ruby Cooper of Millersport, OH, Bessie Meiers of Sunbury, OH, and Betty Woodford of Elkins, WV; half brother, Dickson Helmick of Warren, OH; half sister Texie Parker of Wilmington, DE, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Seymour Thompson; one sister, Grace Lugo, four half brothers, Bland, and Blake Thompson, Charles and Arthur Helmick; five half sisters, Alethia Mcavoy, Mabel Lambert, Leora George, Carrie Hughes and Snowin Helmick. Mrs. Waybright attended Sully Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Friends will be received 4 to 9 PM Friday, October 31, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 1PM Saturday, at the funeral home with the Reverend Mary Ellen Finegan officiating. Burial will follow at the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Earnestine 'Teen' Walton
Earnestine 'Teen' Walton, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She was born April 20, 1929 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late E. D. and Beppie Dove Lantz Heatherly. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Kate Cobb and Mary E. Heatherly. On October 4, 1954 she married Karl Buck Walton who survives. Also surviving are one sister, June Humphrey of Leavittsburg, Oh; and two brothers, Ernest J. Heatherly of Bristol, OH and William D. Heatherly of Warren, OH. She was a homemaker and a member of the Buckhannon Church of God. She loved to cook, work on her roses and go on long walks with her husband. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Monday, February 16, 2009 from 2-4 & 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Spears conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. James M. 'Jim' Ward
James M. 'Jim' Ward, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, April 29 2009 at Holbrooks Nursing Home. He was born April 14, 1924 in Weston, WV, a son of the late Martin C. and Anna Peterson Ward. On June 9, 1950 he married Maxine Pete Brockleman who survives. Also, surviving are two sons, Mike Ward and wife Heather of Montclair, VA and Pat Ward of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Savannah Ward of Hollywood, CA and one grandson, Joseph Joshua Ward of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Fred and Bill Ward and two sisters, Imogene Hodges and Mary Wooddell. Mr. Ward was a meter reader for Columbia Gas Company for 31 years. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. He served in the US Navy during WW II, was Admiral Nimitzs personal clerk, stationed at Pearl Harbor. A member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598, a 25 year member of Buckhannon Vol. Fire Dept. He was a member of the board of directors for Upshur County Society for Crippled Children and Adults. A member of the Upshur County Farm Bureau. Friends will be received Friday, May 1, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery in Weston. The family would like to thank the girls on the 4th wing at Holbrooks Nursing Facility, for their care during Jims illness. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the gravesite. Arnold G. Wentz
Arnold G. Wentz, age 76, of Country Club Road, Buckhannon, WV peacefully passed at home on June 3, 2013. He was born on December 9, 1936 in Harrison County, WV, a son of the late Curtis D. and Edrie Teter Wentz. He was preceded in death by his first wife Vera LouEllen Kasten Wentz and his brother Richard Curtis Wentz. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Thanna Haslebacher Smith Wentz, six children, Rob Smith and wife Debbie, Ricky A. Wentz and wife Kim, LouEllen Blake and husband Jim, Chuck Smith and wife Carol, Rebecca Hoover and husband Rodney and Scot Wentz and wife Lanora all of Buckhannon. He is survived by twelve grandchildren; Robbie Smith and wife Emily, Krenden Smith, Joshua Smith, Stacia Wentz, Jennifer Blake Smith and husband Jeff, Jamie Blake, Seth Blake, Charley Smith, Chris Smith, Travis Hoover, Becca Hoover and Camden Wentz; two great-grandsons, Andrew and Garret Smith. Also surviving are two sisters, Lemoyne Wentz of Palmyra, VA and Mabel Wentz Wright of Buckhannon. He was a 1955 graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School. In 1965 he was honorably discharged from the United States Army having served both active duty and the reserves. Prior to enlisting in the army he worked for Monongalia Power Company. In 1992 he retired as maintenance supervisor with over 30 years of service from Corhart Refractories. He was a former member of the Tennerton Lions Club. He and Thanna were charter members of the Strawberry Pairs Square Dancers Club. Mr. Wentz attended several Promise Keepers Conferences including the Million Man Stand in The Gap Prayer Rally in Washington D.C. in 1997. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church where he volunteered to deliver for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed hunting and was most proud of his bear kill this past fall. He always had a good hunting story and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to hunt. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 3-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Christian Fellowship Churchs Relay For Life Team. Derek Christiaan Wentz
Derek Christiaan Wentz, age 36, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home. He was born December 4, 1972 a son of Chester E. Wentz of Buckhannon and Barbara Jones Bake of Cottage Grove, OR. On November 1, 2004 he married Jennifer Lynn Lockwood who survives. In addition to his parents and Wife he is survived by one daughter, Nora Crislyn Wentz of Buckhannon; and two brothers, David Ashton Wentz of Wasilla, AK and Daniel Blaine Wentz of Buckhannon. Mr. Wentz was a 1991 graduate of BUHS. After graduation he enlisted in the 101st Airborne Division, serving for 11 years. Following his service he worked for Trust Joist, A & E, and also worked for Homebase, Inc. where he held various titles including in home services and most recent as a senior residential manager. As a child he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America continuing though adulthood as an assistant leader and helping with Camp Tommy. He will be missed by many. Friends will be received 1PM to 2 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Joseph Shreve officiating. Burial will follow at the Lockwood Family Cemetery. Derek William Wentz
Derek William Wentz, infant son of Daniel Blaine Wentz and Amy Suzanne Reger of Buckhannon, WV. He was born and died on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandmother, Patricia Reger of Buckhannon; paternal grandfather, Chester Wentz of Buckhannon; paternal grandmother, Barbara Bake of Cottage Grove, OR; aunts and uncles, Marc and Renee Fuller, Francine Love, Jim and Nancy Jones all of Buckhannon, Bobby Reger, Brenda and Ed Syrek of SC and David and Christianne Wentz of Valdosta, GA; several nieces and nephews and several cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Foreman William Reger and uncle, Derek C. Wentz. Friends will be received Monday, July 16, 2012 from 10-11 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Cutlip officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
