Dr. John R. Warner, Jr.
Dr. John R. Warner, Jr., age 73, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Holbrooks Nursing Home in Buckhannon. He was born November 27, 1936 in Topeka, KS, a son of the late John R. Warner, Sr. and Ione Gray Warner. On July 22, 1960 he married Judith Ebright who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Peter Warner and wife Cindy of Philadelphia, PA and Stephen Warner and wife Debbie of Buckhannon; one daughter, Jennifer Fishman and husband Steve of Cleveland, OH; three granddaughters, Lindsey Ryan of Boston, MA, Jackie Warner of Philadelphia and Lacey Warner of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Logan Warner of Buckhannon, Mitchell and Nicholas Warner both of Philadelphia and Charlie Fishman of Cleveland and one brother Donald Warner of Kalkan, Turkey. Dr. Warner was a Professor at West Virginia Wesleyan College in the Dept. of Sociology and an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. He was a member of the WV Academy of Science, contributing columnist for the Charleston Gazette, Eagle Scout, and Swimming Instructor. He was a husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved painting, photography, traveling, gardening and his grandkids. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He will lie in state on Thursday from 10-11 AM the funeral hour at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. At the request of the family, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Dr. John Warner Memorial Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Office of Institutional Advancement, 59 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James T. West
James T. West, age 81, of Waycross, GA died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Warner Robins Rehabilitation Center in Warner Robins, GA. He was born April 23, 1928 in Moundsville, WV a son of the late Dr. J.B. and Gladys Shreve West. He is survived by one brother, Charles J. West and wife Marguerite of Waycross; niece, Jewel Wilbanks and husband Michael of Comer, GA; nephew, Charles B. West and wife Cindy of Brookfield, GA and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. West was an engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, he was also a member of Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM of Buckhannon, Grand Lodge of WV AF & AM, Upshur County Chapter # 34 Royal Arch Masons, Monroe Scottish Rite in Monroe, Louisiana and a Shriner. He was installed as Exalted Ruler of Waycross Elks Lodge # 369 of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks for year 1994-1995. James enjoyed antique cars and spending time with people. Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites at 2 PM on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Buckhannon Memorial Mausoleum in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502-1204, indicate acknowledgement to Charles West, PO Box 925 Waycross, GA 31502. the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert G. 'Bob' Ware
Robert G. 'Bob' Ware, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born August 4, 1928 in Lewis County, WV, a son of the late Frederick G. and Elvyn Slaughter Ware. On January 2, 1953 he married Wanda Mae Sturm who preceded him in death on January 6, 2000. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Joseph Corder and four brothers, Gilbert, Dorsey, Denzil and Gaylord Ware. He is survived by one daughter, Connie Marple and husband Mark of Buckhannon; one son, David Ware and wife Jacqueline of Buckhannon; one grandson, Anthony Ware of Buckhannon; one sister, Rosetta Woofter of Buckhannon; two half sisters, Pauline McCrobie and Janice Harr of Davis, WV; one half brother, Fred Ware and wife Mary of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ware was a mechanic for the board of education. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovahs Witness in Tennerton. Mr. Ware was a truck driver for Dexcar Queen Coal Company for 29 years. He served in the US Army. After retirement he was an avid gardener and shared his crops with everyone. Friends will be received Monday, May 3, 2010 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Chapel Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Maxine Warner
Dorothy Maxine Warner, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born August 27, 1925 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruby Pauline Burroughs Winnings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Warner who died on November 13, 1998; three sisters, Ruth, Phyllis and Margaret; one brother, Robert and one grandson, William Billy Streets. She is survived by two daughters, Donna K. White and Dorothy Garrett both of Buckhannon; one son, Richard Ellwood Warner of Warren, OH; eight grandsons, Ricky Lynn Warner and wife Karen, Rick Warner and wife, Andrew Warner all of Warren, Stephen Streets and wife Brenda, and Alan Streets all of Cortland, OH, Brian White and wife Fawn of Clarksburg, WV, Randy White and wife Jennifer of Bridgeport, WV and Christopher White of Uvalde, TX; seven granddaughters, Sara, Sally, Susie and Vickie Lynn Warner all of Warren, Pam Streets of Buckhannon, Debbie Orsburn and husband Randall of Tallmansville, WV and Tracy Hunt and husband Davis of Buckhannon; thirty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Warner was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobbie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Clara Nell Weaver
Clara Nell Weaver, age 76, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. She was born October 1, 1933 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Walter Rush and Opal Riley Rush Bland. On December 12, 1953 she married Thomas F. Weaver, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 1, 2005. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty R. Miller. She is survived by two sons, Thomas F. Weaver, III and wife Glenna of Pickerington, OH and Russell L. Weaver and wife Linda of French Creek, WV; three granddaughters, Laura May and Amy Adkins, both of Lexington, KY and Carol Brickey of Grayson, KY; two grandsons, Richard and Nicholas Weaver, both of French Creek; two great-granddaughters, Tara and Abby Weaver, both of French Creek; two great-grandsons, Adam Weaver of French Creek and Michael Brickey of Grayson and one brother, John R. Rush and wife Patricia of Sistersville, WV. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Weaver worked at the Union National Bank of Clarksburg, WV and the Central National Bank of Buckhannon. She was a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Buckhannon for several years and a member of Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star. Friends will be received from 5 8 PM Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maxine B. 'Pete' Ward
Maxine B. 'Pete' Ward, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born May 14, 1926 in Weston, WV, a daughter of the late Michael L. and Lucy Henry Brockleman. On June 9, 1950 she married James M. Jim Ward who preceded her in death on April 29, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Mike Ward and wife Heather of Montclair, VA and Pat Ward of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Savannah Ward of Hollywood, CA; one grandson, Joshua Ward of Buckhannon; and four sisters, Sarah Squires of Buckhannon, Lucille Rastle and Ruth Dale Davis of Weston, WV and Joan Loudin of Kent, OH. In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Brockleman and three sisters, Jean Rastle, Irene Milton, and Hazel Herron. Mrs. Ward worked for Upshur County Schools for over 20 years. She was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. She was a charter member of the Upshur County Emergency Squad, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge, the Upshur County Farm Bureau, and she was on the board of directors for the Upshur County Society for Crippled Children and Adults. At earlier times, she was a Sunday School Teacher at Central United Methodist Church and a member of the Buckhannon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Bingo player, baker of bread and cinnamon rolls, and quilter. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. The family would like to recognize the girls on the 4th wing at Holbrooks Nursing Facility, and thank them for the excellent care they provided during Petes illness. Friends will be received Monday, July 26, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery in Weston. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Madeline Gawthrop Ward
Madeline Gawthrop Ward 94, of Williamstown, and formerly of Buckhannon, WV passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at Harmar Place in Marietta, OH. She was born January, 11, 1918 in Buckhannon, WV to the late William and Thelma Martin. Madeline worked at Thompson's Pharmacy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon, WV, and also a member of Eastern Star Chapter #18 in Buckhannon. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Jones (Jack) of Williamstown, son William Gawthrop (Elizabeth Buchheister) of Oakland Twp., MI, grandchildren Clint Gawthrop (Carla) of Seattle, WA, Peter Gawthrop (Beth) of Troy, MI and Robert Gawthrop (Lindsey) of Lake Orion, MI, Matthew Jones (Valerie) and Patrick Jones (Sarah) both of Williamstown, WV, great grandchildren Lindsey and Matthew Gawthrop of MI., Abigial and Issac Gawthrop of WA, and Colin and Holly Jones of Williamstown and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Edwin Gawthrop Jr., second husband Sterling Ward, brother Earl Martin, and sisters Lou Young, Inezz Mearns, Martha Hupp and Beatrice Edmiston. A Memorial Service will be held on June 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon, WV.The family would like to thank the staff at Harmar Place for the excellent care she received. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 42 Hart Ave. Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Betty L. Watson
Betty L. Watson, age 82, of Elkhart, IN died Sunday, November 21, 2010 in Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart. She was born January 25, 1928 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Alva Harrison and Reta P. Hyre Smith. On February 12, 1945 she married Herman Thomas Watson who preceded her in death on April 21, 1991. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, James, Robert and Harold Smith and three sisters, Lucile and Rosalee Smith and Dorothy Weekley. She is survived by one daughter, Connie Burr of Buckhannon; two sons, Thomas Watson and wife Rosemary of Elkhart and Herman Junior Watson and wife Barbara of Jane Lew, WV; one sister, Hilda Lee of Buckhannon; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Watson was a homemaker. Friends will be received Thursday, November 25, 2010 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lillian Hornbeck Waugh
Lillian Hornbeck Waugh, age 99, of Buckhannon, WV, a 60-year resident of Liggett Addition, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born November 19, 1911 at Mt. Union, WV, a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Eva Bennett Hornbeck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Leo Tallman in 1936. On August 31, 1939 she married her 2nd husband, Amos Waugh who preceded her in death on May 30, 1984; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Waugh and four brothers, Robert, Marple, Dan and Charles Hornbeck. She is survived by one son, Dr. Gary Andrew Waugh and wife Joyce of Augusta, GA; two daughters, Nancy (Waugh) Davidson and husband Ronald of Buckhannon and Percilla (Waugh) Bailey and husband Gary of Eleanor, WV; six grandsons, Jeffrey Allen Waugh and wife Lisa of Las Vegas, NV, Gregory Amos Waugh and wife Julie of North Augusta, SC, Clint Waugh Davidson of Buckhannon, Shae Ronald Davidson and wife Johanna of Bloomington, IL, Aaron Harold Bailey of Ironton, OH and Travis Matthew Bailey and wife Bonnie of Culloden, WV; three great-grandsons, Gregory Waugh of Augusta, Andrew Waugh of Las Vegas and Turner Bailey of Culloden; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Waugh of Augusta and Addison Addie Waugh of North Augusta and several nieces and nephews. Lillian had worked as a cook at West Virginia Wesleyan College, a poll clerk for over 50 years, and retired from Home Hardware as a clerk. She was the Upshur County member of the Inaugural Class of the West Virginia Voter Hall of Fame in 2008. She grew up in the Mt. Union Methodist Church and was a member and organizer of the West Buckhannon United Methodist Church. She had been a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, communion stewart and trustee of the church. Lillian was a talented seamstress, a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and sister. The family wishes to express their thanks for the compassion and love of Serenity Care Employees. Friends will be received Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lang and Rev. Bobbie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Mary Lou ( McDaniels ) Waugaman
Mary Lou Waugaman, 75, formerly from Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her home in Libertyville, IL. She was born on December 21, 1935, in Selbyville. She was a daughter of the late Oris V. and Dolly Haymond McDaniels. On October 26, 1957, she married Charles S. Waugaman, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Heatherly, and one brother, S.D. McDaniels. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ron Barth and grandchildren Ryan and Eric, of Libertyville, IL. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Jane Waugaman and grandchildren Alison and Kyle of Mequon, WI. She is also survived by one sister, Jaunita Westfall of Wellington, OH, and several nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was loved by her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends and family will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 4-6 P.M. with a Memorial Service at 6:00 P.M. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Monday at the Sand Run Baptist Cemetery with Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

William Wellings
William Wellings, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, July 6, 2012 at his home. He was born August 6, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late William Wellings, Jr., and Florence Godwin Wellings. On August 13, 1967 he married Linda Kay Mitchell who survives. Also, surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sweda and husband Ronald of Guin, AL and Christy Benson and husband Stephen of Beckley, WV; two granddaughters, Lily Bond of Guin and Kiersten Benson of Beckley and one brother in law, Jack Pettit of Lake Wateree, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Pettit. Mr. Wellings was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. He was an aircraft owner and a member of the pilots association. He was a member of the Upshur County Development Authority, Buckhannon Lions Club, and President of Upshur County Airport Authority. He was in Broadcast Television for 10 years and retired from Pratt and Whitney Engine Services as their network analyst. Friends will be received Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He will Lie In State Sunday, from 1-2 PM at the First United Methodist Church. Funeral service at 2 PM with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
