Biddie Webb
Ms. Biddie Webb, 86, of Sevierville, Tenn., passed away July 31, 2002. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapter 37 Order of the Eastern Star. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Rosie Webb; brothers Orville and Jesse Webb; and sisters Sarah Muncy, Blandene Golbe and Allie Curry.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Douglas Stuart; brothers Johnny Webb of South Williamson, Ky., and Joe W. Webb of Lovely, Ky.; sister Eula Brown of Maher; grandchildren Kimberly and her husband Mike Madlom and Stephen Stuart; great-grandchildren Whitney Madlom, Tyler Madlom and Chasse Stuart.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at Highland South Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 with Rev. Greg Parton officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland South Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Highland South Funeral Home, Knoxville, Tenn.

Judy French
Judy Carol French, 53, of North Spring, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at Logan General Hospital, Logan.

Born July 5, 1949 in Wharncliffe, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Kizzie Hatfield Morrison.

Mrs. French was a homemaker and member of the Varney Fundamental Christian Church, Varney.

Survivors include her husband, Philip French of North Spring; two daughters, Cindy (John) Kennedy of North Spring and Phillisa (Chris) Rudder of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Thelma (Ervin) Dotson of Wharncliffe, Faye (Dennis) Morgan of North Spring, and Sandra (Gary) Bradford of Wharncliffe; two brothers, Gary (Julie) Morrison and Mark (Sheila) Morrison, both of Wharncliffe; one grandson, Philip Rudder of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two granddaughters, Emily Kennedy of North Spring and Hannah Rudder of Knoxville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at the Varney Fundamental Christian Church at Varney with the Revs. Ervin Frances and Okey Varney officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dotson Cemetery, Wharncliffe.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the Varney Fundamental Christian Church at Varney after 6 p.m. Monday.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of funeral arrangements.

William Jude
William H. "Hubert" Jude, 73, of Williamson, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 4, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Ky., from 6-10 p.m.

Sharon Hensley
Sharon Kaye Helms Hensley, 51, of Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of the Pond Creek area, died Aug. 1, 2002.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky.

George Gilman Jr.
George R. Gilman Jr., 77, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Delbarton, passed away Aug. 2, 2002 at the Odessy Health Care Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Born May 6, 1925 at Mount Gay, he was a son of the late George R. Gilman Sr. and Martha M. Martin Gilman.

He was also preceded in death by sisters Laura Louise Sheppard, Dollie D. Sheppard, Faye Lowe and Mary Ann Arms.

He was a retired barber and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the Army and Air Force. He was a member of the Southwest Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW and Eagles.

Survivors include one son, George R. Gilman III; daughter Keren (Hall) Gilman of Chapmanville; brothers D. Jackson Gilman of Columbus, Ohio, and R. Martin Gilman of Marysville, Ohio; sisters Ollie Mae McCoy of Warfield, Ky., Ruth Jean Duncan of Columbus, Ohio, and Barbara Hickey of Woodstock, Ga.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Little Dove United Baptist Church at Belo on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 12 p.m. with Elder Jimmy Maynard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Gilman Cemetery at Laurel Creek.

Graveside rites will be performed by the DAV Chapter 141

Visitation will be at the church after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Chafin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Skeens Jr.
John "Blue Machine" Skeens Jr., 61, of Puritan Mines, passed away Aug. 11, 2002 in Logan General Hospital.

Born Sept. 4, 1940 at Puritan Mines, he was a son of the late John and Laura Coleman Skeens. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalene Curry and Carol Mae Davis. He was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include three brothers, Thomas Skeens of South Amherst, Ohio, Gary Skeens of Ragland, and Malcolm Skeens of Dans Branch; three sisters, Eloise Gibson of Goshen, Ohio, Linda Bevins of Puritan and Theresa Diamond of Puritan.

Funeral services will be held at Chafin Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mitchell Bias officiating.

Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher.

Pallbearers will be J.R., Lee, Malcolm and Tommy Paul Skeens, Gary Bevins, John Curry, Eric Gibson, Jeff and James Anderson, and Cecil Diamond.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Chafin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eula Brown
Eula Brown, 77, of Old Field Branch Road, Maher, W. Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002 at Williamson Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker.

Born June 3, 1925 in Lovely, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Hiram Webb and Rosie Davis Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Brown; a daughter, Sharon Kay Brown; two brothers, Orville and Jesse Webb; and four sisters, Sarah Muncy, Blandene Goble, Allie Curry and Biddie Webb.

She is survived by three sons, Johnnie (Naomi) Brown and Ward (Barbara) Brown, both of Old Field Branch, Orville (Loraine) Brown of Spartansburg, S.C.; two daughters, Shirley (Charles) Curry of Delbarton and Peggy (Bill) Parsley of Genoa, W. Va.; brothers, Johnny Webb of South Williamson, Ky., and Joe W. Webb of Lovely, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three special nephews, Lorn Hall, Larry and Michael Muncy.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Weaver Mortuary with the Rev. Andy Kohari officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 at Weaver Mortuary.

Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Debbie Dalton
Debbie S. Dalton, 53, of New Philadelphia, died in her home on Thursday, August 1, 2002 of a heart attack. Debbie was born in Williamson, WV to Howard L. and Billie Faye Bryant Davis and graduated from Mullins High School in Mullins, WV in 1967.

A 24-year resident of New Philadelphia, Debbie worked at Park Honda South as an office assistant. She was skilled and meticulous in her crocheting talents and enjoyed flower gardening. Debbie loved animals and shared her life with her three cats, "Pookie", "Lady", and "Paisley".

She is survived by her son, Lantz Brook Dalton, III of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Ella Suzanne Dalton of Tucson, AZ; parents, Howard and Billie F. Davis of New Philadelphia; and her sister, Janie (Ron) Aisenbrey of Greensboro, NC; aunts, Ruth (Burl) Blackburn of Charleston, WV and Marie "Cho" Mason of Williamsburg, VA and an uncle, Cecil (Jean) Davis of Statesville, NC.

A funeral service will be held in New Philadelphia on Monday, August 5, 2002 at 2:30 PM. Another funeral will be Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the Weaver Mortuary in Williamson, with burial to follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, WV. Calling hours will be in the mortuary on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Rev. Clarence Booth
Rev. Clarence C. Booth, 91, of Ragland, passed away Aug. 15, 2002 at Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 7, 1911 at Lovely, Ky., he was a son of the late John Morgan and Lassie Morgan Booth. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Mae Booth.

He was a minister of the Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired coal miner.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Booth; two sons, Tom C. Booth of Atlanta, Ga., and John M. Booth of Louisville, Ky.; two stepsons, William Basil McCoy of Marion, Ohio, and Joe McCoy of Owensboro, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Patricia Pepper of Manassas, Va.; one brother, Shelby Booth of Hode, Ky.; three sisters, Audry Triplett and Jean Small of Warfield, Ky., and Louise Cooper of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield Chapel, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, with the Rev. Lewis Hall Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be at the Chafin Funeral Home on Friday from 6-9 p.m., and at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield Chapel, on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.

Burial will follow in the Warfield Cemetery, Warfield, Ky.

Nancy Grizzle
Nancy Grizzle, 77, of Wellington, Ohio, formerly of Red Jacket, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at Allen Medical Center, Oberlin, Ohio.

Born Oct. 29, 1924 in Newtown, she was a daughter of the late Estil Kinder and Inez Mitchell Kinder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Grizzle was a homemaker and member of the Church of God at Newtown.

Survivors include two daughters, Della Lee of Wellington, Ohio, and Patsy Mahon of Beech Creek; a brother, Gary (Judy) Kinder of Red Jacket; two sisters, Doris (Lawrence) Lester of Newtown and Linda (Pete) Hartley of Grafton, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Aug. 17 at Chambers Funeral Home Chapel with Dallas Riffe officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery at Newtown.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday 6-9 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Home.

Saber Cantees
Saber Cantees, 84, a life-long resident of Williamson, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.

Born Sept. 29, 1917 in Williamson, he was a son of the late Joseph Albert Cantees and Helen Mickel Cantees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Saleeba Cantees; brother Robert Tanel Cantees; and sisters Rose Stuart, Catherine Dixon, Alice Cantees and Louise Farmer.

Mr. Cantees was the vice president of Cantees Department Store. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army.

Saber was a devoted member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and was actively involved as a member of the Vestry, Laymen's League and Jr. Warden. He was also a member of the Williamson Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Emil (Deborah) Cantees of Williamson; brother Abe J. Cantees of Williamson; two sisters, Esma Cantees and Josephine Eubanks, both of Williamson; and three grandchildren, Chase, Chelsea and Miles Cantees, all of Williamson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Father Dan Lynch officiating.

Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher.

Pallbearers will be Bill and Gary Dixon, Charles Eubanks, Ralph Hagy, Bobby Ryan, Chad Slater and Chad Sizemore.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Weaver Mortuary.

Contributions may be made in Saber's memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pritchard St., Williamson, W. Va., 25661.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson.
