Burnese Lawson
Burnese Lawson, 56, of Beech Creek, WV, passed away May 22, 2003 at her home. Born July 21, 1946, in O'Keefe, WV, to the late Fred Lawson and Dovie Cisco Lawson, she was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Creek Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Charley Lawson; and sister, Dorothy Harrup.

Surviving are her brothers, Shannon Lawson of Beech Creek, WV, Ray (Yvonne) Lawson of Beech Creek, WV, Eugene Lawson of Beech Creek, WV, and Fred Lawson Jr. of Beech Creek, WV; sisters, Betty Lawson of Beech Creek, WV, Loretta (Keith) Looney of Beech Creek, WV, Lorine (Earl) Hite of Varney, WV, Frances Hatfield of Bluefield, WV and Joyce Goad of Hazard, Ky.; and special friends, Kelly Justice, Melissa Mahon and Ashley Murphy.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. on Friday at the Beech Creek Church of Christ with services at 7 p.m. with Evangelist Kevin Blankenship officiating.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003, 1 p.m., at Beech Creek Church of Christ with Evangelist David Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, right hand fork of Beech Creek, WV.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Ky.

Macel Moore

Macel Moore, 77, of Kermit, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at the Logan (W. Va.) Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson.

Nell Yost

Nell Yost, 82, of Williamson, died May 2, 2003 at Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.

She was born March 28, 1921, in Mingo County, W. Va., a daughter of the late George Maynard and Brookie White Maynard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Fielding Yost, on May 4, 2000; brothers Bill, Ed, Jake and Chick Maynard; and sisters Lottie Rode, Minnie Curry and Mary Garrett.

Nell was a retired deputy clerk with the Mingo County Assessor's Office. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson where she was actively involved and served as the first female elder.

Survivors include one son, John F. (Karen) Yost of Prichard, W. Va.; daughter Susan (Ted) Jaeger Jr. of Fulton, Mo.; brother James Maynard of Greensboro, N.C.; sister Clara Mae McNeer of Tulsa Okla.; and three grandchildren, Bradley Scott and Ashley Gayle Yost and Christopher Brett Jaeger. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church on West Sixth Avenue in Williamson with the Rev. Richard Belcher officiating.

Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be men of the First Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, May 4, 2003, 6-9 p.m., at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dignity Hospice, P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV., 25508.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson.

Haley Walker

Haley Walker, 91, of Pineville, W. Va., formerly of Justice, W. Va., died at 5:34 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, W. Va.

She was born July 25, 1911 in Wayne County, W. Va., a son of the late McDonald and Mary McConnell Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Walker; one infant son, Ronald Adkins; one sister, Martha Adkins; and four brothers, Frank Adkins, Taylor Adkins, Henry Adkins and Pat Adkins.

Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and member of the Hanover House of Faith at Hanover, W. Va.

Survivors include one son, Don (Juanita) Walker of Hampden, W. Va.; one daughter, Lois Ward and special friend Ray Taylor of Pineville; three grandchildren, Kathy Endsley of Kennesaw, Ga., Sam Walker of Justice, W. Va., and Roger Weir of Laurelville, Ohio; five great grandchildren, Wynne Walker, Jon Walker and Sara Walker, all of Justice, W. Va., Christy Endsley of Kennesaw, Ga., and Roger Lee Weir of Columbus, Ohio; and one great great grandchild, Haley Weir of Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003 at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, W. Va., with the Rev. Raymond Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, Pecks Mill, W. Va.

Friends may call at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, W. Va., on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Chapman

Robert E. Chapman, 40, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of the Wharncliffe area, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at South West General Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.

He was born March 15, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Virginia Ilene Toler Chapman of Cleveland, Ohio, and the late Robert Chapman Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenny Chapman.

Robert was self employed and of the Protestant faith.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Laura Chapman of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Leanna Chapman and Allyssia Chapman of the home; uncle Elmer Ray Toler of Lyburn, W. Va.; and aunt Hazel Toler Gibson of Wharncliffe, W. Va.

There will be no funeral service.

Friends may call at the Nosek Funeral Home, 8150 Brackville Road, Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m.

Arrangements directed by Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert, W. Va.

Charles Sheppard

Charles William Sheppard, 68, of McArthur, Ohio, formerly of Trace Creek, W. Va., passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born March 25, 1935 in Williamson, W. Va., to the late William and Polly Maynard Sheppard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Denver Sheppard.

Mr. Sheppard was a veteran and repairman for Sears Co.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Dawson Sheppard; sons Bruce and Jeffery Allen Sheppard of McArthur, Ohio, Charles Richard Sheppard of Layland, W. Va., Randall Eugene Sheppard of Nebraska and William Metz of McArthur, Ohio; brother Radnor Wayne Sheppard of Sunberry, Ohio; sisters Opal Brooks and Linda Foughty of Waynesboro, W. Va.; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Little Dove United Baptist Church, Belo, W. Va., with Elder Jimmy Maynard officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sheppard Family Cemetery, Sheppardtown, W. Va., with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Little Dove United Baptist Church from 6-9 p.m.

Chafin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eloise New
Eloise Farley Casey New, 73, of North Matewan, formerly of Majestic, Ky., died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.

Born June 7, 1929, at Feds Creek, Ky., Eloise was a daughter of the late Lewis Farley, Sr., and Ocie Rowe Farley Hurley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Bradley Casey, Sr., and Woodrow New; a son, Johnny Casey; a brother, Edgar Jack Farley and two great grandchildren.

Eloise was a retired school teacher with the Pike County School System and a member of the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Bradley (Debbie) Casey, Jr., of Kimper, Ky.; Willis (Margaret Ann) Casey of Regina, Ky.; Danny Ray Casey of McCarr, Ky.; and Randall Hank (Penny) Casey of Freeburn, Ky.; two daughters, Phyllis Jean (Buddy) Harris of North Matewan and Patricia Ann Dotson of Phelps, Ky.; two brothers, Lewis Farley, Jr., of Biggs, Ky.; and James Hurley of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Lois Hutchins of Columbus; Flo Loop of Wheelersburg, Ohio; and Madie Dotson Mayhorn of Bluefield, W. Va.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, May 27, 2003, with the elders Stevie Kinder, Jimmy L. Smith, Paul Varney and Mike Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Billy Dotson Cemetery at Phelps.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist at Phelps with special services nightly at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phelps Funeral Service, Phelps.

Wiley Mounts
Wiley "Ben" Mounts, 89, of Baisden, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan.

Born Dec. 9, 1913, at Baisden, Ben was a son of the late Isaac and Evie Cline Mounts.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Arvid Mounts, Clinton Mounts, Everette Mounts and Junior Mounts; three sisters, Zella Albury, Sylvia Vance, Nettie Blankenship and three infant sisters, Clara Bell Mounts, Kelsie Mounts and Edna Mounts.

A retired coal miner, Ben was of the protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sis Marie Cline Mounts of Baisden; two sons, Tommy Mounts of Baisden and Harless "Doodie" Mounts of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Ernestine Vinson and Jala Whitson, both of Baisden; and four grandchildren.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services are scheduled to take place at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonas Trent and Rev. Learmon Mounts presiding.

Burial will follow in the Clarence Cline Cemetery at Baisden.

Friends may call Monday evening at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert.

Macel Moore

Macel Moore, 77, of Kermit, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, W. Va.

She was born May 23, 1925 in Logan County, W. Va., a daughter of the late Joe Evans and Bertha Simpkins Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Moore, and brother Merle Evans.

She was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Richard Moore (Connie), Williamson; two boys whom she raised, Tracy Dobbins of Florida and Dana Dobbins of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michael and David Moore; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Weaver Mortuary with the Rev. Joaquine Ooten officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dempsey Cemetery, Lenore, W. Va.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Monday evening, May 5, 2003, 6-9 p.m. at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson.

Mark Addison

Mark Ivan Addison, 47, of Coal Mountain, W. Va., died at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, W. Va.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church, Coal Mountain, with the Revs. Glen Hatfield and Kirby Puett officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery, Coal Mountain, W. Va.

Friends may call at Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church at Coal Mountain on Tuesday evening after 6 p.m.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge.

Sylvia Blankenship

Mrs. Sylvia Ruth Blevins Blankenship, 70, of Williamson, W. Va., passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003 at her residence.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel, Baker Funeral Home, Pound, Va., with Rev. Ray Tackett officiating.

Interment will be in the Neon (Ky.) Cemetery.
