Carl Parsley
Carl Parsley, Sr., of Lenore, W. Va., passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at the Hospice Center of the Mingo Manor Nursing Home, Williamson, W. Va.

Born December 18, 1924, in Lenore, W. Va., to the late Allen Parsley and Pearl Hall Parsley, he was a graduate of Lenore High School with the Class of 1941. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a chief mine electrician and was the former owner and operator of the Community Cable Systems in Mingo County. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a co-founder of the Mingo Christian School and served on its Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors of Rural American Missions at Jenny's Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Gene Parsley; and sisters, Irene Parsley Mayhone and Donna Sue Parsley Thompson.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Curry Parsley; sons, David Michael (Coletta) Parsley of Pinsonfork, Ky., Carl (Debra) Parsley, Jr. of lenore, W. Va. and James Allen Parsley of Accoville, W. Va.; brothers, Allen Jay (Betty) Parsley of Lenore, W. Va. and Robert Lee (Patricia) Parsley of Lenore, W. Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg) Smith, Kimberly (Charles) Carter, Christopher Carl Parsley, Kristi (Adam) Adams, Amy Parsley and David Michael Parsley; and great grandchildren, Charles Alexander Freedom Carter and Karlie Alexis Liberty Carter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004, 2 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary with Wayne Runyon, Don Stroud and Curtis Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Chafin cemetery at Parsley Bottom.

Serving as pallbearers are Freddie Dempsey, Jason Dempsey, Brian Ooten, Stephen Stroud, Joe Deskins, Clyde Blair, Vince Slone and Mac Sammons. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Barger, Billy Sheppard, Jim Hatfield, Willard Sturgill, Roland Vance, Glen Prichard and Fredrick Dempsey.

Special service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Pastor Don Stroud and Rev. Jouquine Ooten officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2004, 6 - 9 p.m. at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver mortuary of West Williamson, W. Va.

Andrew Pasquale
Andrew Joseph Pasquale, 54, of Williamson, W. Va., passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson, W. Va.

Born December 29, 1949, in Williamson, W. Va., to Sarafine Apa Pasquale of Winston Salem, N.C. and the late Joseph Pasquale, he was a member of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Pasquale enjoyed traveling and reading and was a member of the Huntington, W. Va. Astronomy Club. He was a graduate of Williamson High School and Marshall College where he obtained his teaching degree and a master's degree in math and a bachelor's degree in science.

Surviving are his aunt, Hazel Pasquale of Williamson, W. Va., with whom he made his home; brothers, Joseph and Sam Pasquale of Winston Salem, N.C.; and sisters, Rose and Gina Pasquale of Winston Salem, N.C. He is also survived by two dear friends and helpful friends, Marian Maynard and Frank DeMartino.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Harry Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery, Williamson, W. Va.

Serving as pallbearers are members of the Knights of Columbus: Carl Moore, Jonathan Moore, Ralph Pyszkowski, Bill Harmon and Rod Smith. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, West Fourth Ave., Williamson, WV 25661

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson, W. Va.

Jesse Spaulding
Jesse Spaulding, 79, of Kermit, W. Va., died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1925, in Wayne County, W. Va., to the late Jimmy and Lou Cresey.

He was a coal miner and a member of the Crum Church of Christ.

He is survived by five sons, Ronald (Novella) Spaulding of Crum, W. Va., Tennis (Donna) Spaulding of Columbus, Ohio, Garrett (Julie) Spaulding of Crum, W. Va., Jimmy (Alice) Spaulding of Columbus, Ohio, and Wynn D. Spaulding of Crum, W. Va.; one daughter, Jenny (Don) Jude of Columbus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Johnson of Dingess, W. Va., Frankie Johnson and Stella Spaulding both of Columbus, Ohio; and two brothers, James Spaulding of Laurelville, Ohio, and Joe Spaulding of Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ on Monday, November 22, 2004, with Jessie J. Spaulding officiating.

Burial will follow at Lowe cemetery, Jennies Creek, W. Va.

Visitation will be held at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ until time of services on Monday.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.

Floyd Banks
Floyd Eugene Banks, 43, of Amherstdale, W. Va., passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004, at his residence.

He was born March 27, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio to Hubert Banks of Amherstdale, W. Va. and the late Reba Collins Banks.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, 2004, 1 p.m., at Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church at Bruno, W. Va. with Rev. Ronald McCoy and Rec. Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery, Pecks Mill, W. Va.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert, W. Va. is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Jean Sheppard
Bobby Jean Sheppard, age 69, of Niceville, Fla., went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 31, 2004. Bobby was of the Baptist faith.

Bobby was born in Ragland, W. Va. on December 14, 1934. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and sister, William and Willa Belcher, George Sheppard and Elsie Angus.

Bobby is survived by two children, Mrs. Eddie Grant (Sonya) of Destin and Edith Sheppard of Niceville; one grandchild, Sonya Sheppard also of Niceville. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Lois Schram and Janice Sheppard of Ohio; Peggy Maynard, Billy Belcher and Mike Belcher of West Virginia.

Graveside services for Mrs. Sheppard will be held on Friday, November 5, 2004, at the Family cemetery in Delbarton, W. Va. at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roger Tinnel officiating.

Weaver Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Keegan Chafin
Keegan Alexander Nawaz Chafin was still born at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, W. Va., Thursday, November 11, 2004.

He was the son of Tariq Nawaz Khan and Pascha Nicole Chafin of Charleston, W. Va..

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Rocky Chafin.

He is survived by grandparents Haq Nawaz Khan and Gulzar Begum of Pakistan and Cora (Randy) Pressley, McDonough, Ga.; two uncles; Josh Chafin, McDonough, Ga., Shaukat Nawaz Khan, St. Louis, Mo.; one aunt, Farhat Begum Khan, Denmark; great grandparents: Carol Chafin, Sidney, Ky., and Herbert and Ann Savage, Borderland, W. Va..

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2004, at the Savage cemetery, Borderland, W. Va..

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, KY.

Goldie Maynard
Goldie Maynard, 42, of Mt. Gay, W. Va., passed away Thursday, November 11, 2004, at the Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She was born November 15, 1961 in Williamson, W. Va. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Goldie Crabtree Farley. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Maynard; aunt, Sarah Workman of Lenore, W. Va.; half brother, Carlos Crabtree of Roadbranch, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Monday, November 15, 2004, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Curry-Farley cemetery at Elk Creek.

Visitation will be held Monday morning from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chafin Funeral Home, Delbarton, W. Va.

William Clay

William "Bill" Clay, 86, of Kermit, W. Va., passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 28, 1918 in Kirk, W. Va., to the late B.J. Clay and Mary Gilman Clay.

A memorial services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004, 11 a.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield Chapel with prayer by Gary Hensley. Burial will follow at Family cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.

Bill Spaulding

Bill Floyd Spaulding, 77, of Kermit, W. Va., passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004.

He was born, March 3, 1927, in Mingo County, W. Va., to the late Will and Effie Parsley Spaulding.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Lonnie Spaulding, and sister, Shirl Brewer.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Nora Brewer Spaulding of Kermit, W. Va.; sons, Bill Jr., Danny and Judy, Ron and Kathy, Mike and Shena, all of Kermit, W. Va.; daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Linville (Dorothy), Mr. and Mrs. Don Back (Charlene) of Columbus, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Messer (Gail) of Kermit, W. Va., Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Copley (Carol) of Kermit, W. Va., Mr. and Mrs. Paul Copley (Cathy) of Kermit, W. Va. and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown (Ann) of Kermit, W. Va.; brothers, Robert, Tony, Benny, Tommy and Donnie Spaulding, all of Kermit, W. Va.; sisters, Merril Brewer, Larabell Perry, Pauline Brewer and Barbra Evans, all of Kermit, W. Va..19 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004, 1 p.m., at Gospel Church of God at Marrowbone, W. Va., with Paul Messer and Don Back officiating. Burial will follow at the Spaulding cemetery.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 11 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.

Pauline Mills

Pauline Evelyn Mills was born on September 24, 1920, to Emma and Arthur Wright of Borderland, W. Va. She died on November 18, 2004, in Seattle, Wa. after a lengthy illness.

She is survived by two sons, William R. Mills of Charlotte, N.C. and Kenneth G. Mills of Seattle, Wa.; and two sisters, Carol Miller and Patricia Shiflett of Buchanon, Va..

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Magdalene Varney and Helen Boggs; and a brother, William Wright.

She has three grandchildren, April Diehl, Dana Wade Lee and Channing Mills, all of Charlotte, N.C.; and six great grandchildren, Devon Wade, Lindsey Lee, Madison Lee, Alexia and Ana Chan.

She will also be sadly missed by Christine Gilstrap, daughter-in-law and her beloved niece, Marsha Boggs, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, she will be missed and remembered.

Pauline lived in the Williamson area all her life until recent years. She retired from Food City as assistant manager and was an active member of the East Williamson Baptist Church. For many years she served as chaperone for the Tri-Hi-Y Club on their annual summer outings to Myrtle Beach, S.C. She attended Chattaroy High School and was a member of the basketball team and various social clubs.

Pauline started work as a clerk at the old Company Store in Borderland and later worked at the Falls Branch Market before joining the old Piggly-Wiggly store on Fourth Avenue and, later, in South Williamson, eventually ending her career at Food City.

Pauline was an elegant dresser with a flair for fashion. Devoted to family and friends, she was a generous soul with an infectious laugh and gentle demeanor. During several years of declining health, she bore her travail with patient acceptance. She will be missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004, 10 a.m., at Weaver Mortuary with burial following at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Maher, W. Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2004, 6 - 9 p.m., at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson, W. Va.

Rebecca Zirk

Rebecca Jane Zirk, 68, of Aiken, S.C., passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Borderland, W. Va.

Born January 1, 1936, in Kentucky, to Katie Crum Elkins of Borderland, W. Va. and the late George Marcum, she was a homemaker and a member of Nolan Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wallace Marcum.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Zirk of Aiken, S.C.; daughters, Tammie Sue (Chad) Repp of Aiken, S.C. and Mia Deann Smith of Aiken, S.C.; brother, George Marcum, Jr. of Borderland, W. Va.; sisters, Dorothy Marcum of Winco Block, W. Va., Edith Poliquin of Carpentersville, Ill. and Shelba Vinson of Carpentersville, Ill.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004, 1 p.m., at Nolan Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Ray Taylor and Earl White.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dignity Hospice, P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV 25508.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson, W. Va.

Bobby Jean Sheppard
Bobby Jean Sheppard, age 69, of Niceville, Fla., died at home October 31 of a brief illness. She was born December 14, 1934 at Ragland, W. Va. and was preceded in death by her husband, George Raymond Sheppard of Trace Creek (Mingo County); her parents, William and Willa Belcher; and a sister, Elsie Belcher Angus of Louisville, Ky. Bobby was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors includes two daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Sonya) Grant of Destin and Edie Sheppard of Niceville; and one grandchild, Sonya of Niceville. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Lois) Schram of Dublin, Ohio, Mrs. Grant (Janice) Sheppard of Newcomerstown, Ohio and Mrs. John (Peggy) Maynard of Delbarton; two brothers, Billy Belcher of Elkins, W. Va. and Mike Belcher of Parkersburg, W. Va.

Graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 5, at 11 a.m. by Rev. Roger Tinnell of the First Baptist Church of Williamson at the family cemetery, Conley Branch.

Weaver Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
