Thomas Michael Smith, 50, of Williamson, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 21, 1954, a son of York Smith Jr., and Clara Britts Smith, both of Williamson.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his grandparents, York and Georgia Smith and George and Stella Britts and his father-in-law, Ronnie Joe Blackburn.
Michael was a 1972 graduate of Williamson High School. He was formerly employed with B&L Furniture Company and was currently an inspector with the West Virginia Department of Highways.
Michael was a faithful and devoted man of God. He was a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church. He loved his church and church family. Mike was an avid hunter and wood carver, but the greatest enjoyment in his life was the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Ronda Blackburn Smith; a son, Thomas Michael Smith II and his wife, Nikki, of Hilliard, Ohio; a daughter, Michelle Barker and her husband, Eules, of Chattaroy and three grandchildren, Taylor Brooke Barker, Keaton Smith and Kaleigh Smith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Wed., Aug. 4, 2004, at the Toler Freewill Baptist Church, Toler, Ky., with Rev. Johnny Hatfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Larry Elia, Todd Jones, Clifford Marenko, Jamie Staten, Rodney England, Chris Bucci, Jimmy Briles and John Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Bush, Cecil Collins, Lacy Muncy, David Barker, Kenny Baisden, Sammy Barker, Tom Pecco, Everett Conn and Benny Moore.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Weaver Mortuary, West Williamson and any time Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Weaver Mortuary with special services at 7 p.m., Tuesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weaver Mortuary.
Madeline King
Madeline King, 75, of Williamson, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in South Williamson, Ky.
Born Oct. 17, 1928, at Williamson, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Jane Charles Gannon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, John King Jr.; daughters, Bobbie Jean and Sharon King; brothers, Thomas E., Donovan, Glenn W. Jennings O., Aldon Gannon and two other brothers; and sister, Martha Swain.
She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Her survivors include son, Wilburn E. King of Williamson; daughters, Carolyn Sue (Robert) Hensley of Williamson; Martha Jane (Jack) Stacy of Stone, Ky.; Karen Adkins of Williamson; brothers, Golden (Inez) Gannon of Columbus, Ohio; Olin D Gannon of Williamson; sisters, Ruth Sesco of South Williamson; Marvella (Carl) Stollings and Mary Lou (James) Young, both of Sevierville, Tenn.; Ida Marie Hardin of Stirrat; eight grandchildren, Bobbie Sue (Randy) Zornes, Kristy (Joey) Carey, Jack Clinton Stacy, John C. Adkins, Brian (Sarah) Hensley, Jamie (Melissa) Stacy, Rebecca K. Adkins and Rachel (Patrick) Coleman and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Delbert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson-Moore cemetery at Burnwell, Ky.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m., Wednesday and anytime Thursday at the funeral home with services at 7 p.m., Thursday.

Irene Hayes
Irene Hayes of Sunset Addition, Williamson, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the Mingo Manor Nursing Home, Williamson.

Roland Vance Jr.
Roland Gordon Vance Jr., 42, of Rt. 1, Delbarton, Duncan Fork, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 20. 1962, in a military hospital in Frankfort, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, R.B. and Ida Vance and Thomas and Vicie Lucas.
Known as "Alfie, " he was a former truck driver for Teresa Coal Company.
He is survived by his parents, Roland and Ruth Lucas Vance of Riffe Branch; a brother, Timothy Vance of Duncan Fork and Timothy's finance, Betty Hale; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church where his mother is a member on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Wayne Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in the Vance Family cemetery at Riffe Branch.
Visitation will be at the church after 6 p.m., Wednesday evening.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Timothy Parsley
Timothy "Hoss" Parsley, 46, of Kermit, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born the son of Dewy "Duke" Parsley of Kermit and Anna Faye Harris Parsley of Madison, W. Va., on July 14, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Sarah Brewer Parsley; his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Bradley; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parsley is survived by his wife, Bitha Kay Fields Parsley; brothers Andy (Donna) Chambers of Twilight, W. Va., and Chuck (Missy) Workman; a niece, Charissa of Wharton, W. Va.; many loving cousins, relatives and friends in the area.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at the Gospel Church of God in Jesus' Name in Left Fork of Marrowbone Creek, Kermit with Pastor Paul Messer and Assistant Pastor Roger Justice officiating. Burial will be in the Parsley cemetery, Left Fork of Marrowbone, Kermit.

Sylvia France
Sylvia Hattie (Mills) France, 78, of Varney, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
She was born Jan. 20, 1926, at Thacker, a daughter of the late Randolph and Nancy Mahon Mills.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Varney Church of God.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Pearl France; three brothers, Oscar Mills, Eugene Mills and Walter Elswick; one sister, Lovelea Charles; one grandchild, Danny Ray Hensley.
Survivors include two sons, David France of Columbus, Ohio and Langley (Penny) France of Varney; three daughters, Shirley (Harvey) Collins, Lovella (Ray) Reed of Lovely, Ky., and Nancy (Charles) Hensley of Varney; one brother, Bufford Randolph Mills of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Shirley McClanahan of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Chafin Funeral Home, Delbarton with brother Ravin Fields Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Field of Honor in Canal Winchester, Ohio, Thursday, Aug. 4, 2004.

Dorothy Smith
Dorothy V. Smith, 78, of Williamson, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 27, 1926, at Saltville, Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Hoover Null.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank F. Smith; one son, William Eugene Null; one brother Bill Null; and one grandson.
She was a homemaker and attended the East Williamson Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Johnny (Mary K.) Thompson of Williamson and Mrs. Jesse (Sandra Jean) Harris of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Hugh Null of Texas and Jack Null of Kansas; four sisters, Geneva Boardwine of Virginia, Sarah Mitchem of North Carolina, Mary Hendershot of Ohio and Helen Daniels of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Christopher (Katrina) Eugene Smith and Franklin Douglas Harris, both of Durham, N.C., and Rebecca Marie Thompson of Williamson; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Virginia and Christopher Eugene Smith Jr., of North Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at East Williamson Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Sanger officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.

Irene Hayes
Irene S. "Rennie" Hayes, 94, of Sunset Addition, Williamson, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the Mingo Manor Nursing Home in Williamson.
She was born on June 17, 1910, in Abingdon, Va., to the late John C. and Susan Smith Stanfield. She was a retired hairdresser.
Mrs. Hayes was an active and long-time member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in West Williamson where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was also an active member of the Church of the Mountains choir.
She was for many years identified with the Tug Valley Arts Council, serving on its board of directors. Mrs. Hayes didn't ask if you wanted to buy a ticket for the upcoming season performances, she simply called and said, "I'm coming over with your tickets." Her record for selling season tickets has never been matched.
She was a volunteer with the Harry Joyce Senior Citizens Center and participated in the Meals on Wheels outreach.
She knew no strangers and where she saw a need, she did what she could to help. She brought sunshine and encouragement to many shut-ins with her visits and hot meals. Mrs. Hayes had a deep faith and a wonderful sense of humor that endeared her to all. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hayes; and 15 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two nephews, Phillip Hayes of Pennsylvania, and Blaine Benton of Akron, Ohio; and three nieces, Jean Hayes of Charleston, W. Va., and Judy Sparks and Charlotte Insley, both of Akron, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 13, 2004; at the Memorial United Methodist Church, West Williamson, with the Rev. Greg Blair. She will be entombed at the Monte Vista Park cemetery, Bluefield, W. Va.
Men of the church will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Weaver Mortuary, West Williamson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 1608 W. 6th Ave., Williamson, WV, 25661.

Arvil Farley
Arvil Farley, 87, of Elk Creek passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at the Logan Regional Medical Healthcare Facility.
He was born on July 20, 1917, in Elk Creek, to the late Mont and Tennessee Curry Farley. He was a retired coal miner and formerly worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Duncan Fork House of Prayer.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Farley; and three sisters, Trulie Stepp Brewster, Gladys Justice and Dana Tickle.
Mr. Farley is survived by his wife, Jean Parsley Farley; one son Harold Messer; two daughters, Moreen Sargent of Dingess and Linda Ferrell of New Camp, Ky.; two brothers, C.W. Farley of Pataskli, Ohio, and Lloyd Farley of Ohio; two sisters, Dot Workman of Taylorville and Louise Browning of Elk Creek; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, at the Chafin Funeral Home, Delbarton, with the Rev. Roger Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Curry-Farley cemetery, Elk Creek.
