Sherry Rister
Sherry Sue Rister, 45, of Kermit, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at the Full Gospel Church in Jesus Christ.
Burial will follow in the Perry Point cemetery, Kermit.
Visitation began after 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the church.
Audrey Glandon
Audrey "Aud" Glandon, 81, of Bruno, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at his home.
Born June 20, 1920, at Proctor, he was the son of the late Tom and Maude Carter Glandon.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and an Army veteran of World War II, in which he fought in Burma and China. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Alberta Duntee Glandon; two brothers, Earl and Dale Glandon; and a sister, Golda Goodman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Stacy Glandon of Bruno; three sons, Thomas Glandon of Fayetteville, N.C., Terry Glandon of Loredo, and Cecil Glandon of the home; two daughters, Lowana Peters of Whitesville and Angie Johnson of Whitman; a brother, Johnie Glandon of Bruno; four sisters, Odessa Johnson and Janis Ellis, both of Bruno, Samantha Trent of Man and Josie Estep of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren, Angie Lay of St. Albans and Jamie Peters of Alko; a grandson, Zachary Johnson of Whitman; a step-grandson, Daniel Collins of Accoville; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy Lay, both of St. Albans.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at the Bruno Church of God with the Revs. Roger Frye and Ronald McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens at Pecks Mill.
Active pallbearers will be Roger White, Craig Brumfield, Johnie Glandon, Jr., Michael Ellis, Harmon Ellis, Jr. and Billy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Trent, Herbert "Peanut" Grimmette, Yank Williamson, Jerry Toler, Mack Altizer and Danny Gibson.
Military graveside services will be performed by the Wyoming County Honor Guard of Oceana.
Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Church.

Doffie Lawson
Doffie Tilden Lawson, 72, of Redford, Mich., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Whitehall of Novi, Novi, Mich.
Born May 7, 1929, at Nolan, he was a son of the late Tilden and Phoebe Murphy Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lawson; twin sister, Doris Hess; three brothers, Paul, Basil and Jim Bo Lawson.
He was a machinist and U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Rouge Freewill Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon and gospel singer.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Robinette Lawson; son, James Tilden Lawson of Redford, Mich.; a daughter, Susan Pedersen of Beloit, Wis.; sisters May Eurione, Helen Rader of Alberquerque, N.M., and Bessie Ellis of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Rogers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Slater officiating.
Burial will follow at the Robinette Family cemetery at Turkey Creek, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Dillon, Glen Dillon, Walace Robinette, Chester Robinette, Ben Maynard, and Gregory Maynard.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Sunday and Monday, March 31 and April 1, 2002, with special services at 7 p.m.

Creedy Rogers, 93, of Pinsonfork, Ky., died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Chesapeake, Va.

Betty Marcum
Betty Ruth Marcum, 51, of South Point, Ohio, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington.
Born April 17, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Dean Sr. and Gertrude White Dean.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Erin Paige Sparks.
She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Naugatuck.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Marcum; two sons, Ernest (Amy) Marcum, Claude (Erica) Marcum; two daughters, Crystal Marcum and Patricia (Timothy) Sparks; three grandchildren, Savannah Dawn Marcum of South Point and Brianna Lynn and Justin Lee Thomas Marcum, both of Lexington; five brothers, Ernest Dean, Jr. of Naugatuck, David Dean of Fort Gay, Willard Lambert of Lenore, Donald Dean of Delbarton and Bobby Dale Dean of Charleston, S.C.; six sisters, Nyoka Crank of Naugatuck, Geraldine Newsome and Aileen Hinkle, both of Delbarton, Martha Gail Porter of Nolan and Madeline and Drema Marcum, both of South Point.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Weaver Mortuary, with Rev. Curt Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Marcum cemetery in Dumlow.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2002, at the mortuary.
Bennie Duty Sr.
Bennie Rodney Duty Sr., 73, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at Ohio State University Hospital East.
A retired contractor, he was preceded in death by parents, Nola and John C. Duty; one son, Bennie R. Duty Jr.; three sisters, Ella Styer, Emmalou Duty and Lina Jane Duty; two brothers, Carlos and Joe Duty.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Ailene Duty; five daughters, Carol Hill of Alabama, Glenna Thom of Gahanna, Ohio, Marsha (James) Cook of Columbus, Ohio, Jeannie (Chuck) Nevins of Alabama and Judy (Darren) Howard of Kentucky; two sons, Dallis (Mary Jo) Duty of California, and Carlos (Debbie) Duty of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Vera (Russell) Vance and Sarah Jean (Don) McComas; four brothers, John and James (Mary Ann), Author (Nancy Ann) and Loren (Rita Ann) Duty; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Long Funeral Home, 5528 Cleveland Avenue (one block south of St. Rt. 161), where funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, with the Rev. David Galisin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mifflin Township cemetery, Gahanna, Ohio.
Ivan Gillman
Ivan Gillman, 87, of Omar, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at Logan General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1914 at Rockhouse, he was the son of the late Comfort and Roxie Curry Gillman.
Mr. Gillman was a retired coal miner from Omar Mining Co. and W.P. Coal Co.
He was preceded in death by wife, Elsie Gillman; two daughters, Shelby J. Gillman and Carole Gillman Munday.
Survivors include two daughters, Pearl Brooks of Brighton, Mass., and Sidney Jo Gillman of Barnabus; four sons, Ivan Gillman Jr. of Maryville, Ind., Carson Gillman of Charleston, Dana Gillman of Lake, and Gene Gillman of McCleanville, N.C.; one brother, Dana Ray Gillman of Barnabus; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Collins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C.D. Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Edna Davis
Edna Hester (Estepp) Davis, 86, of Delbarton, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 in the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Davis was born July 4, 1915 in Myrtle. She was the daughter of the late James Albert and Lucinda Hunt Estepp. She was one of 14 children.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bryant Davis; a daughter, Linda Gail Bruchow; great-grandson, Jalen Davis; five brothers, Greenway, Elber, Lon, Russell and Herbert Estepp; and five sisters, Roxie Davis, Brize Smith, Bertha Hale, Sadie Young and Resa Cline.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Church of God faith and a life-time poetry writer. She had three poetry books titled "Heart Throbs in Poetry - From The Hills of West Virginia" and 18 of her poems narrated and recorded to music by Chuck Johnson from Coeburn, Va.
Mrs. Davis was a good mother and loved her family. She left behind her love and a legacy of poetry. Her most memorable poem is "Pictures On Memory's Wall." She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by seven children, Jimmie Clerane Davis of Austinburg, Ohio, Donald Davis, Shelvia Jean Evans, Billy Dean Davis, Jackie Glen Davis, all of Delbarton, Roger Lee Davis of Webbville, Ky., and Gary Wade Davis Sr. of Williamson; one brother, Homer Estepp of McCarr, Ky.; and two sisters, Opal Elkins and Margie Curry of Columbus, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Chafin Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, with the Rev. Larry Brown and Evangelist Jimmy Meade officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-9 Wednesday evening with services at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Davis Family cemetery, Pigeon Roost.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Samuel Runyon
Samuel David Runyon, 71, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Rawl, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 in the Fairview Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.

Tommy Spradlin
Tommy A. Spradlin, 49, of Fort Gay, born March 17, 1952, died Feb. 11, 2002, at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, Ky.
He was the son of the late Matthew and Zelphia Spradlin.
Survivors include his loving companion, Maebelle Mollett, and her sons; his children Trina Brumlow of Columbus, Ohio, Brian Thomas Spradlin of Big Creek, Ky., Melissa Spradlin and Christopher Tan Spradlin, both of Inez, Ky., and Lynora Jean Spradlin; three sisters, Janice (Earl) Hensley of Gainesville, Ga., Nellie (Paul) Caudill of Williamson, Lydia Spradlin of Williamson; four brothers, Larry Spradlin of Williamson, Charles Spradlin of Columbus, Ohio, Eddie (Becky) Spradlin of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Darrell (Norma) Spradlin of Williamson; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was a retired truck driver of 30 years. It was a joy to be around him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Young's Funeral Home, Louisa Ky., at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 6-9 p.m. and Thursday 4-9 p.m. Services will start 7 p.m. nightly with the Revs. Earl White and Gary Mounts officiating. Burial will be at the Thompson cemetery at Glen Hayes, W. Va.

Anna Lee Baisden Hay, 77, of Naugatuck, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at her home. She was the wife of Maynard Hay.

Sammy Ray Carter, 86, of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at his residence. Born August 8, 1920, at Wharncliffe, he was the son of the late Lee and (Name Unknown) Carter. Sammy was an Army Veteran.
Survivors include his companion, Shirley Ann Miller Harmon of Wharncliffe; 3 sons: Robert Carter, Sammy Carter, Jr., of Portsmouth, OH, and Joseph Lee Carter of South Carolina; 10 grand children, 15 great-grand children and 8 great-great-grand children; 2 brothers: Earl Lee Carter and Bill Carter both of Beech Creek, WV.

Elouise Hatfield, 78, of Coal Mountain, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 25, 2007, at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born July 13, 1928, at Coal Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Oley and Ruby Morgan Hatfield. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Alonzo (Fletch) Hatfield and one grandson, Phillip Andrew Hatfield. Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Alvin P. (Violet) Hatfield of Brier Creek, two sisters: Mary (Bueford) Lester of Oceana, and Glenna Hatfield of Coal Mountain, four brothers: James Hatfield of Logan Center, Jack (Adele) Hatfield, Arden (Kat) Hatfield, and Rondell Hatfield all of Coal Mountain, three grandchildren: Melissa ( Mark) Atkinson of Charleston, Melanie Hatfield of Athens and Melinda Hatfield of Brier Creek, two great grandchildren Audrey and Claire Atkinson of Charleston. Harold Michael "Mike" Denham, 51 of Accoville, departed this life on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.
Born, August 21, 1955, in Texas, he was the son of Patricia (Tidrow) Huffman and the late Harold Denham.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Tonya (Keene) Denham of Accoville, five sons: Joshua Michael (Jessica) Denham of Moorehead, KY, James Michael Denham of College Station, TX, Zachariah Steven Denham of Greenville, OH, Zachary May and Micah Denham both of Accoville; four daughters: Candace (Kent) Emrick, C.J. Denham and Camie Denham all of Greenville, OH, and Crystal Michelle Denham of College Station, TX.
Additional survivors include: two sisters: Vickie Davis and Rebecca Deaton of Rusk, TX; two brothers: David and Tommy Denham of Rusk, TX; and a host of family and friends.
Mike was a member of the Crown Greater Vision Church of God and an Army veteran.
