Allie May Cantrell, 102, of Wharncliffe, WV, departed this life and entered into the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity on Thursday, April 19, 2007.
Born, June 17, 1904, at Wharncliffe, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Nancy Patrick May. She was a faithful member of the Ben Creek Pentecostal Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe & Buddy May, four sisters: Elvira Cantrell, Verda Browning, Flossie Perry, and Lula Blevins. Survivors include: one son, Buddy Lee Patrick; one brother, Sebert (Eunice) May of Browning Fork; special caregivers, nephew and niece Randall & Mitzi May of Wharncliffe, a host of family, church family, friends, and one special friend Mabel Spradlin of Wharncliffe.
Friends called at the Ben Creek Pentecostal Church of God on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the Ben Creek Pentecostal Church of God at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Denny May, Rev. Roy Lee Lester and Rev. Danny Ward officiating. Burial followed at the Blevins cemetery at Wharncliffe. Family and friends served as Pallbearers.

Mason Trent, 79, of the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Home, Phelps, Ky, formerly of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Home.
Born, June 21, 1927, at Wharncliffe, he was the son of the late Boley & Betty Norman Trent.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 8 sisters: Retha Trent Music, Edith Brandon, Tempi Cline, Mazy Jane Mounts, Tennessee Hatfield, Naomi Hatfield, Mona Music and Leta Hatfield; and 5 brothers: McKinley, Edgar, Monroe, Dee, and Raymond Trent. He was of the Church of God Faith.
Mason is survived by 2 sisters: Ider (Clifford) Cline of Wharncliffe and Callas (Darrell) Stafford of Hanover; 2 special friends: Sadie Hatfield and Merlyn Walls; a host of nieces and nephews and the staff of the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Home of Phelps, Ky.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV, on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 11 am to 1 pm. Burial followed at the Beechfork cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.

Alvin Walter Evans, 79, of Hanover, departed this life on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV.
Born, June 17, 1927, at West Hamlin, he was the son of the late Taylor & Birdie Mullens Adkins and the late Walter Evans.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jerlene Cline Evans; a son, Michael G. Evans; a step-son, Harold "Butch" Smith; 3 brothers, Larry, Paul & Mark Adkins; and a sister, Dorothy Adkins.
Alvin was of the Pentecostal Faith, an Army Veteran of World War II, and a retired coal miner.
Survivors include 2 sons, Rodney Evans of North Charleston and Frankie Evans of Flint Michigan; a step-son, Darrryl Lee Davis of Wyoming, WV; 3 daughters, Linda Houston of Columbus, OH, Jackie Evans of Hanover and Lisa Evans of Wyoming State; a step-daughter, Nedean Davis of Welch; 23 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. Additional survivors include 5 sisters: Trish Woods, Edith (Dan) Ross and Denice Hudson all of Huntington, Georgia Sammons of Pineville and Geraldine (Claude) Reed of Columbus, OH; 2 brothers: Dennis (Ginger) Adkins of Cardington, OH and Virgil Hackney of Kentucky; 2 sisters-in-law: Ruth Adkins of Glover and Dena (Joe) Morgan of Hanover.
Friends called at the Justice Tabernacle Church at Justice, WV, on Wednesday, April 18, from 6 to 11 pm. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 19, at 1 pm at the Justice Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Randall Staton and Rev. Ravin Kenneda officiating. Burial followed at the Morgan & Evans cemetery at Hanover. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

David M. Toler, 72, of Lynco, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Welch Community Hospital, Welch, WV.
Born March 2, 1935, at Logan County, WV, he was the son of the late Garland & Martha Betty Huffman Toler. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Arland Toler; a sister, Pauline Toler and a great granddaughter Tanisha Conn.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Morgan Toler, 3 daughters, Maretta (Joel) Higley of Roanoke, VA, Rhonda (Tennis) Jackson and Donita Lester (Fiancée Danny Stewart) of Oceana; 4 sons, Jeffery Toler of Oceana, Delmas Toler of Lynco, Arland (fiancée Judy Hurley) of Rockhouse, Hanover, and Adam (Becky) Toler of New Richmond.
Additional survivors include: 2 brothers, Eugene (Zola Mae) Toler of Parkersburg and James Toler of Clear Fork; 2 sisters, Lorraine (Gene) Mounts of Tamcliffe and Louis Ferrell of Petersburg, VA; 16 grandchildren: Joshua and Derek Lester, Gavin Toler, Barbie, Jeremy & Damron Higley, Valeria Pennybaker, Christy Cline, Holly Hurley, Travis & Serena Lester, Skyler Toler, Rhonda Crouse, Kelly Conn, Priscilla & Reva Lester; 15 great grandchildren: Alexandria & Erin Lester, Daniel & Sarah Pennybaker, Charles, David & Ethan Crouse, Camron, Tyler & Conner Cline, Kristen, Ashton & Aiden Toler, Dakota & Alexis Browning, and a host of family and friends, who loved him and will miss him greatly. David will be remembered for his volunteer work in the search & rescue of victims of the '72 Buffalo Creek Disaster and his taking 21 people into his home after the flood. In the 70's he was a volunteer for the Little Huff Creek Rescue Squad, helping to raise money to keep it running and his help in restoring the Wyoming County Horse Show grounds. He was owner and operator of Toler & ATT Cable. He will also be remembered as the "Bluegrass Player" playing over 6 instruments.

Elgene Cook, 76, of Coal Mountain, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.
Born, November 9, 1930, at Pineville, he was the son of the late Walter and Goldie Green Cook. Mr. Cook, a resident of Coal Mountain for 52 years, was a member of the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Chruch where he served as a superintendent and janitor. He attended church for 32 years. He worked 32 years in the coal mines, retiring from Island Creek Coal Company as a boss. He loved the outdoors, mainly coon hunting.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Irene Woolum Cook of Coal Mountain; two sons, Dennis Gene (Tina) Cook of Mooresville, NC and Calvin (Donna) Cook of Coal Mountain; three daughters, Patty (Jeffery) Donithan of Welch, Tammy Cook of Rock House, Hanover, and Misty (Landon) Grimmett of Hampden; grandchildren, Selena (James) Bledsoe, Kelli (Adam) Heager, Michelle Cook, Jason West, and Dalaney Grimmett. Additional survivors are great grandchildren, Tyler & Conner Bledsoe, and Abram Heager, a very special and close Uncle Paul Green of Pineville and a close friend Lewis Brown.
Friends called at the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church on Monday, April 2, 2007, after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church
with the Rev. Lonnie Blankenship, Rev. James Ellis and Rev. Sammy Lester officiating. Burial followed at the Hatfield cemetery, Coal Mountain, WV.
Friends and Nephews served as pallbearers.

Teresa Morgan Toler, 50, of Green Valley, Man, WV passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.
Born, July 31, 1956, at Man, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Chester and Pearl Marie Standifer Morgan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter: Codi Nicole Holt; 1 sister: Linda Irene Rose; and 2 brothers: Arthur Morgan, Jr., and Avery Charles Morgan. She was of the Baptist faith, an active member of the PTO at Man Middle School, vice-president and score keeper of the Man Women's Softball League.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nanny, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Clarence Toler of Green Valley, 1 son Jennings Todd (Bridget) Toler of Mallory, 2 daughters: Stephanie (Chris) Carter of Man and Malinda "Mindy" Hatfield of Mallory, 5 grandchildren: Tori Daniella Watts, Katlin Michelle Holt, Tristan Toler, Autumn Shianne Hatfield and Lakota Trace Carter; 3 step-grandchildren: Logan, Legand and Emily Carter; 2 brothers: Robert Morgan of Man and Alfred (Pat) Morgan of Pikeville, KY; 4 sisters: Anna Gentry of Bulls Gap, TN, Mary Rose (Clyde) Craddock of Henlawson, Violet (Gary) Jarrell of Seth, and Debra (Garnet) Marsh of Robinette, and 2 special pets: Chloe and Muffin.
Additional survivors include: special friends: Tishie Brumfield, Helen Porter, Sharon Mayhorn, Tara Workman, Julia Flemings, Jo Elkins, Balinda Brumfield, Krystal Cooper, the Faculty and Staff at the Man Middle School and all the women's softball league. She is also survived by a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Man Middle School, Mallory, WV, on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services were conducted at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV, on Monday, March 26, 2007, at 1 pm with the Reverend P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial followed at the Christian cemetery at Browning Fork section of Gilbert. Family and Friends served as pallbearers.

Pansy Marie Lester, 39, of Baisden, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Lana Kay Apartments at Pecks Mill, WV.
Born, July 7, 1967, at Welch, the daughter of the late Billy and Ethel Salmons Lester. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Jo Cline, maternal grandfather: Walter Salmons and paternal grandparents: Dave & Lizzie Lester.
Survivors include 1 daughter, LeeAnn Beavers; 1 son, Brandon Beavers and maternal grandmother, Vicie Salmons.
Additional survivors include: 4 brothers, Billy Ray (Gail) Lester, Julius (Sabrina) Lester, Virgil (Shannon) Lester and Mose Christian; 2 sisters, Sabrina Christian and Angel Dawn Carter; and a special friend, Leona Christian.
Friends called at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden on Monday, March 26, 2007 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral serviced were conducted at the Full Gospel Church of God on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 1 pm with the Rev. Jonas Trent and Rev. Archie Salmons officiating. Burial followed at the Lester cemetery at Baisden.
Family and Friends served as pallbearers.

Hazel J. Cooke Morgan, 86, of North Springs, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 7 am at Carolyn's Care Center, Verner, WV.
Born, January 2, 1921 at Mew Russell County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Rebecca Hayden Cooke. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Noah Gilford Morgan; 1 daughter: Eileen Godfrey; 1 brother: Grandvile Cooke, killed in WWII; and 5 sisters: Audrey Vance Hopkins, Ardella Jackson, Phyllis Cooke, and Mary Morgan.
She was a member of the Little Cub Memorial Baptist Church at North Springs. Her whole life was dedicated to the love of her children and faithfulness to her church. She loved cooking, sewing, and quilting.
Survivors include 4 sons: McClellan (Joyce) Morgan of Proctorville, OH, Bobby (Marsha) Morgan of Ravenswood, WV, Bennie (Yvonne) Morgan of Justice, WV, and Gary (Mitzi) Morgan of Oceana, WV; 1 daughter: JoAnn (Fred) Mason of Lynchburg, VA; 11 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren and 5 sisters: Fern Stowers of Lynco, WV, Alvie Roberson of Pickens, SC, Erma Daliy of Chesapeke, Angie Roberts of Ashtabulla, OH, and Ethel Hall of Columbus, OH.
Friends called at the Little Cub Memorial Baptist Church, North Springs, WV, on Friday, March 23, 2007 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11 am at the Little Cub Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverends William Cook and Algie Cook officiating. Burial followed at Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny, WV.
Pallbearers were: Mack Morgan, Shane Morgan, Tate Morgan, Alex John, Lyndon Cook, Darren Green and Todd Godfrey.

Gary Lee Brown, 66, of N. Wilkesboro NC, formerly of Isaban, WV, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC, following a brief illness.
Born July 9, 1940, at Ragland, WV, the son of the late Earl & Hazel Hinkle Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Earl Brown, Jr., and Aunt Thelma Hinkle.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at Hurley, VA, for the past 21 years serving as a deacon for 19 years and clerk for 15 years. He loved woodworking and making things for the yard. He loved his family and extended family, but most of all he loved his church and church family. He left this world praising God with a smile of contentment on his face. He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda (Kitty) Thomason Brown, Children; Janie Anderson and husband Doug; Will and wife Jenny, daughter, Kandace and her fiancé Jason Norman and her daughter Kaylee, all of N. Wilkesboro, NC, 1 Sister; Peggy Icenhour of Ikes Fork, WV, Grandchildren; Keitha Ann (Annie); Andrew; Jacob; Noah; Ethan; Kaylee and Jasmine; Special grandchildren; Kendra; Nathaniel; Blake; Scarlett; Ethan and Libby Beth. Additional survivors include his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law; David Lester of Bull Creek, WV, Virgie and Jim Boyd, George and Debra Thomason all of Isaban, WV; David and Fran Burgess of Bland, VA, Amy and Travis Hunt of N. Wilkesboro, NC, his mother-in-law; Josephine Thomason of the home and special friends Roger and Phyllis McCoy of Hurley, VA.
Friends called at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church, Hurley, VA, on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 after 6 PM with services at 7 PM. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at 1 PM with the Elders: Herman West, Paul Boggs and David Lester officiating. Burial followed at the Noah Justice cemetery at Mud Fork, WV. Active pallbearers were: Chris Lester, John Burgess, George F. Thomason, Jimmy Boyd, Michael Thomason, Charles Lee Icenhour, Mark and Matthew Maddows. Honorary Pallbearers were the Deacons of the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church of Hurley, Virginia
