Betty Jane Lester Beavers, 73, of Coal Mountain, WV, passed away March 15, 2007 at the McDowell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Gary, WV. Born April 12, 1933 at Ikes Fork, WV, she was the daughter of the late Arther Lester and Eula Mary Mullins Lester Riffe. Ms. Beavers was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Survivors include 1 Son: Walter Beavers; 2 Daughters: Mary Dotson & Betty Jo Beavers;
4 Granddaughters: Roxanne (Chuck) Puett, Kimberly (Ballard) Dixon, Jr., Theresa Johnson & Lisa Beavers; 2 Grandsons: John Beavers and Kenny Dotson, Jr.;
3 Great-Grandchildren: Carly Puett, Dakota Dixon and Jessica Johnson.
As her request Mrs. Beavers was cremated.
A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, March 18, 2007, from 2 to 4 PM at the home of Roxanne and Chuck Puett, Coal Mountain, WV

Kenneth Richard "Ricky" Ferrell (Cheesy), 50, of Hampden, WV, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 at his residence. Born November 12, 1956 at Man, WV, he was the son of Jack and Eurydice Perry Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell was a disabled coal miner and a retail manager, and was of the Baptist faith.
Proceeding him in death are: one brother: Jackie O. Ferrell, Jr., Paternal Grandparents: Humphrey & Eula Ferrell and Maternal Grandparents: Bruce B. & Lona Workman Perry.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his ex-wife, Angela Dawn Ferrell; one son, Kenneth "Bo, Bo" (Bonnie) Ferrell of Gilbert; one daughter, Candace Hope Ferrell of the home; three grandchildren, Brandon, Hannah, and Bradley Ferrell all of Gilbert. Also surviving are: two brothers, Bruce and Jeffrey Ferrell of Gilbert; five sisters, Kathy Watson, Deborah Hatfield, Sharon Ferguson, Pamela Hatfield all of Gilbert and Sheila Ferrell of Chiefland Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services were conducted at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Williamson and Rev. Ronnie Lester. Burial followed at the Hatfield cemetery at Sharon Heights, Hampden, WV.
Active pallbearers were: Lanny Hatfield, Clayton Hobbs, Ricky Queen, Aaron Brown, Doug Hatfield and Terry Gross.
Honorary pallbearers were: Gary May, Clayton Meade, Doug Williamson, Bobby Shafer, Steve Lowe, and Leonard Cresong

Kathern Louise Cochran Bowens, 71, of Mallory, WV, departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV. Born January 18, 1936 at Poke County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late George & Sylvia Purdue Cochran. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Bowens, 3 grandchildren; Matthew & Jamie Bobby Church and Robert Lee Bowens, Jr., 1 great-grandchild: Dalton Cole Gibson and 1 brother; James Cochran. Survivors include 2 sons; George (Fay) Bowens of Mallory, Robert Lee (Tammy) Bowens of Davin; 4 daughters; Chassie (Loren) Blankenship of Dayton, VA, Iras Brown & Sylvia (Bill) Rogers of Mallory and Nancy (Woody) Murphy of Delbarton; 5 sisters; Ruth Deal and Virginia Lefferd of Georgia, Vernette Taylor & Vivian Cheadem of Tennessee and Izetta of Florida. She was a good and loving grandmother to April & Darrin Maynor, Debrajene & Rodney Gibson, Stacy & Jason Hedrick, Kathern & Todd Terrance, Kristy Coleman, Michael & Kathern J. Bowens, Heath Cline and Luke Brown and a great-grandmother to Brandon, Dustin & Alshley Maynor, Michael Hedrick, Dania Brook McQuithy, Brandon and Justin Cline, Abbigail and Terry Bowens. Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 1 PM at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Belcher officiating. Burial followed at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill, WV. Active pallbearers were: Michael, Jason, Rodney, Heath, Darrin, Mark, Luke and Loren. Honorary pallbearers were: Willie, Willie Paul, Bill, Elwood, Robert and Greg.

Tina Lynn Poe (Woods) Chaffins, 35, of Wharncliffe, formerly of Isaban, departed this life on March 2, 2007 at her residence. Born June 19, 1971 at Welch, she was the daughter of Ruby Cline of Isaban and Jimmy Dale Poe, Sr, of Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Glen Chaffins, Jr, of Wharncliffe, and her grandparents: Vada Jones and Jimmy Muncy.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandfather: Buck Jones, Sr, of Isaban, her grandmother: Hattie Blankenship of Gilbert, ex-husband: Randy Woods, 2 sons: Derek Lamar Acosta and Christopher Roger Woods, 1 daughter: Brandy Jean Woods, all of Black Lick, Ohio; 1 sister: Melissa Kay (Keith) Browning of Isaban; 1 brother: Jimmy Dale (Chance) Poe, Jr, of Gilbert; 2 nephews: Ryan and Dustin Browning of Isaban; 1 special loving friend: Dott Justice of Isaban; 2 special cousins: Jimmy Eugene (Tonya) Griffey and son Scotty, Cutie Lester and sons James and Greg Lester, al of Isaban; 2 uncles: Buck (Deborah) Jones, Jr, of Isaban and Clinton Sidney (Kathy) Ferrell of Long Pole.
Friends called at the Isaban Church of God, Isaban, WV, on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 after 6 PM. Funeral services were conducted at the Isaban Church of God on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1 PM with the Reverends: Roger Pete Woods and Steve Ron May officiating. Burial followed at the Four Pole cemetery at Mohawk, WV. Family and Friends served as pallbearers.

Melissa (Hinkle) Caudill, 28, of Delbarton, departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at the Blankenship residence, Old House Branch, Hampden.
Born on February 24, 1979, at South Williamson KY, she was the daughter of Thurman Hinkle and Rose (Browning) Hinkle.
Melissa was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Melissa are: her mother, Rose Hinkle of Delbarton, her father, Thurman Hinkle of Wharncliffe, her son, Wesley Mitchem of Wharncliffe, her daughter, Chelsey Holbrooke of Wharncliffe, her five brothers: Thurman Dwayne (Rebecca) Hinkle of Varney, Kevin Hinkle (fiancée Jody Ellis) of Baisden, Elbert Allen (Sally) Hinkle of Wharncliffe, James Daniel Hinkle of Wharncliffe, and Gregory Wolford (fiancée Angie Workman) of Varney; one special nephew, Thurman Dwayne Hinkle Jr., of Varney; step-sister, Janet Renae Berry of Wharncliffe; step-mother, Wilma Faye Hinkle of Wharncliffe; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Faith Church of God at Wharncliffe, on Friday, February 1st from 6 to 10 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 2nd at the Faith Church of God with the Rev. Danny Ward and the Rev. Denny May officiating. Burial followed in the Hinkle & Riffe cemetery at Varney.
Pallbearers were: Thurman Dwayne Hinkle, Allen Hinkle, Kevin Hinkle, Aaron Brown, Bruce Hinkle, and Brian Smith.

Virginia 'Hickie' Browning, 82, of Gilbert, the beloved wife of Mora Lee Browning, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 25, 2008 from her residence.
Born on June 21, 1925 at Gilbert, she was the daughter of the late William 'Bill' and Josephine (Trent) Poe.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Mora Curtis Browning; five sisters: Dixie Cook, Alverta Browning, Florence Hatfield, Grace Johnson, and Nellie Prater; and a brother, Verner Poe.
'Hickie' was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was of the Church of God faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of 'Hickie' are: her loving husband of 64 years, Mora Lee Browning of Gilbert; her daughter, Sue (Bob) Miller of Hinckley, Ohio; her six sons: Fred (Priscilla) Browning of Danville, Terry Lee (Wanda) Browning of Gilbert, Danny George (Sharon) Browning of Wharncliffe, David (Sharon) Browning and Richard (Linda) Browning of Ocala, Florida, and Jay (Carol) Browning of Hampden; her 12 grandchildren; her 10 great grandchildren; her three sisters: Kermit Hatfield, Ruby Hagy, and Hattie Blankenship; her two brothers: Clarence and Roger Poe; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, January 27th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 28th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Cresong and the Rev. Scottie Dingess officiating. Burial followed in the Daugherty & Browning Family cemetery at North Spring. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Lawrence Cline, 80, of Baisden, departed this life on Friday, January 25, 2008, at his residence.
Born on January 25, 1928 at Baisden, he was the son of the late Floyd and Virgie (Davis) Cline.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters: Rosemary Cline of Baisden and Teresa Cheryl Cline of Dallas TX; six brothers and four sisters.
Lawrence was a retired coal miner and of the Christian faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Lawrence are: his longtime companion, Eloise Cline of Baisden; his two sons: Steven L. (Sherry) Cline of Baisden and Jerry (Gail) Cline of Hinton; his five daughters: Debbie (David) Blankenship and Carmella (Terry) Salmons of Baisden, Jennifer (JB) Hatfield of Hampden, Katrina (Ray) Morgan of Simon, and Pamela (Brian) Dingle of Mentor, Ohio; his 19 grandchildren, his 12 great grandchildren; his four sisters: Mary, Niellie, and Naomi Cline and Opal Sammons; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden on Sunday, January 27th from 6 to 10 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 28th, 2008 at the Full Gospel Church of God with the Rev. Jonas Trent and the Rev. Lionel Browning officiating. Burial followed in the Elmer Cline cemetery at Right Hand Fork, Baisden.
Pallbearers were: David Blankenship, Kendall Osborne, Justin Salmons, John Jude, Anthony Jude, Davy Cline, Brandon Vinson, Gregory Dotson, and J. R. Lilly. Honorary pallbearers were: Hubert Justice, Charles Cline, and Ricky Cline.

Ethel (Layne) Cline, 90, of Baisden, departed this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan WV.
Born on April 14, 1917 at Hurley VA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ida (Matney) Layne.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joda Cline; two sons: Claude and Douglas Cline; two daughters: Brenda Sue Cline and Shirley Cline; her three brothers: Sanford, Isiah, and Johnny Cline; and a sister, Amanda L. Cline.
Ethel was a homemaker and a member of the Rosa Regular Baptist Church at Baisden.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Ethel are: her two daughters: Lucille (Sonny) Phelps of Iaeger and Glenda (Lonnie) Simpkins of Meador; her five sons: Wendell Cline of Oceana, Colin (Brenda) Cline of Hanson KY, Robert Cline of Beckley, Kevin Cline of Baisden, and Barry Cline of Justice; her five sisters: Pauline Cline and Jean Layne of Baisden, Toby Matthews of Verner, Molly Bailey of Williamson, and Anna Mae Moore of Columbus OH; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Friday, January 25th 2008 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 26th 2008 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Nagy officiating. Burial followed in the Joda Cline cemetery at Baisden. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

David Lee 'Mudlick' Harding, 60, of Baisden, departed this life on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Williamson Memorial Hospital in Williamson.
Born on December 30, 1947, at Grundy, VA, he was the son of the late Grover Lee Harding and the late Mary (Marshall) Harding McClanahan.
David was a US ARMY veteran. While in the service he received the Parachutist Badge, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a disabled coal miner and of the Church of God Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of David are: his loving wife, Margaret Lou (Justice) Harding of Baisden; his two daughters: Davida Shawn Harding of Baisden, and Candita Harding and fiancé Bret Browning of Browning Fork; his son, David Lee Butler of North East MD; his two granddaughters: Haley Hatfield of Baisden and Katelyn Dingess of Wharncliffe; his sister, Shirley (Joe) Atwell of North East MD; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, January 22nd from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 23rd at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating. Burial followed in the Justice Memorial Gardens at Justice.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
