Lora Elswick, 92, of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at her residence, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on August 30, 1915 at Wharncliffe, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Mullins) Elswick.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Lora was a homemaker and loved animals and devoted most of her life to caring for them.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Lora are: her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Bobby May; and a host of family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, March 29th from 12 to 2 pm. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denny May officiating. Burial followed at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, Pecks Mill.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Donald Eugene Dean, 69, of Gilbert, formerly of Sutton, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan.
Born on September 7, 1938 at Gassaway, he was the son of the late Kessell 'KI' and Geraldine (Warner) Dean.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas William Dean and Robert Lee Dean.
Donald was a former dozer operator for Carl E. Smith and Associated Pipeline, and a member of several locals. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Donald are: his friend and companion, Lona Blankenship of Hampden; his three sons: Jimmy (Cindy) Dean of St. Albans, Donnie (Teresa) Dean of Columbia SC, and Charles (Carla) Dean of Fort Campbell KY; his five grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda, Emily, Kelsey, and Kalab; his great grandson, Ayden; his two brothers: Kenny (Teri) Dean of Pleasant Hill Iowa and David (Georgia) Dean of Seaford Delaware; his two sisters: Maxine (Larry) Hutchens of Apex NC and Patricia Ann (Rick) Baldwin of Jacksonville NC; some very special people in his life: Vera Lynn Lester, Elfreda Barrett, and Gary Wayne Blankenship all of Gilbert, Lavon Phillips of Tazewell VA; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Friday, March 28th from 6 to 9 pm.
A visitation was scheduled for Saturday, March 29th at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home at Gassaway from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Sunday, March 30th at the Fairview United Methodist Church at Chapel with the Rev. Matt Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Chrisman cemetery at Chapel WV. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Calla Earlene Webb, 70, of Hanover went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 24, 2008, from her residence.
Born on May 8, 1937 at White Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lenna (Riffle) Reed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Estil and Edgar Reed, and a sister, Eunice Reed.
Earlene was a self-employed bookkeeper for many years with C. E. Webb Construction and Lakeside Fast Stop. She was a Protestant-baptized member in the Gilbert Presbyterian Church.
She was also a lover of animals and opened her heart and home to them.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Earlene are: her loving husband, Randolph 'Randy' Webb; her daughter, Sherry (Tim) Rutledge; her son, Victor (Pat) Webb; her grandchildren: Kristen Rutledge (Jason Blofsky), Mariana Rutledge, Nicholas Webb (Ashley Collins) and Breanna Webb; her great granddaughter, Jaelyn Blofsky; her sister, Genieve Miller of White Sulphur Springs; her brother, Warren Reed also of White Sulphur Springs; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, March 26th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday March 27th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Turner officiating. Burial followed in the Justice Memorial Gardens at Justice. Pallbearers were: Nicholas Webb, Jason Blofsky, Carl Bryant, Clinton Lester, Tom White, Ira Bennett, and David Houck. Honorary pallbearers were: Floyd Lester and Winston Webb.

Ocie Mae Blankenship, 87, of Hampden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 24, 2008, from her residence.
Born on July 27, 1920, at Matewan, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Viola (Dean) Damron.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth Blankenship; three brothers: Dorsel, Edward, and Howard Damron; an infant son; and one great granddaughter, Angel Nicole Nickles, and one great grandson, Carlos Dwayne Mounts.
One of the many occupations that Ocie had performed was a home health care giver, she loved helping and caring for others. Ocie was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Ocie are: her two daughters: Louella (Charles) Hall of London OH and Marcella Smith of Hampden; her five grandsons: James (Regina) Nickles of Justice, William Mounts of Taylorsville, Kenneth (Stella) Mitchell of Gilbert, Michael D. (Dani) Hall of Erlanger KY, and Charles (Wendy) Hall of London OH; her granddaughter, Danna Jo Smith of Milton; her eight great grandchildren: Kenny Lee Mounts, Hunter Nickles, Cheyenne and Chavez Strickland, Dakota Mitchell, Josiah Lester, Helena M. Hall, and Charles Hall IV; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, March 25th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 26th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Endicott officiating. Burial followed in the Justice Memorial Gardens at Justice. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were: Dennis Blankenship, Tom and Larry Damron, Paul Rings, and Charles Hall.

Richard Jennings Smith, 68, of Gilbert, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, from his residence.
Born on December 27, 1939 at Ragland, WV, he was the son of the late Harold and Girley (Poffenbuger) Smith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: two infants: Linwood and Nancy Rebecca Smith; and two brothers: Gary and Kenneth Smith.
Richard was a retired coal miner with Last Chance Coal Company, and a member of the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Richard are: his loving wife, Betty L. (May) Smith; his two sons: Richard (Rhonda) Smith of Hampden and Freeland (Sharon) Smith of Ocala FL; his three daughters: Rhonda (T Bug) Mounts, Melissa (Terry) New, and Patty (Chad) Blankenship all of Baisden; his nine grandchildren: Barry Mounts of Princeton, Kerry Mounts of Iraq, Lisa Mounts of Isaban, Terry New, Jr. of Baisden, Richard Smith III of Hampden, Joshua New of Baisden, Sandra Smith of Hampden, McKenna Blankenship of Baisden, and Cheyenne Smith of Ocala FL; his three great grandchildren: Haley and Summer Grace Compton of Isaban and Zackery Issac Mounts of Princeton; his three brothers: Harold Lee Smith of Dandridge TN, Billy (Louise) Smith of Oceana, and James Ray (Mary Lou) Smith of Wharncliffe; his six sisters: Violet (Jim) Webb of Paintsville WV, Freda (Freddy) Cline of Baisden, Girley (Lindsey) Kennedy of Lexington NC, Ola (Gable) Roberts of Welch, Irene (Gene) Martin of Morrisville NC, and Bridgette (Bill) Hinkle of Delbarton; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden on Friday, March 21st after 6:00 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 22nd at the Full Gospel Church of God with the Rev. Jonas Trent and the Rev. Larmon Mounts officiating. Burial followed in the May Family cemetery at Baisden. Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were: Freddy Cline, Gabriel Roberts, Edward Lester, Colin Cline, Timer May, David and Ricky Blankenship, Crocket West, and Gene Mounts.

Rev. Terry Allen Browning, 62, of Justice, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 17, 2008, from Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, Charleston, WV.
Born on March 10, 1946 at Leatherwood, he was the son of Zola (Walls) Browning and the late Ola Browning.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: a son, Neal Browning; three brothers: Chriss, Lionel Jean, and Eddy Browning; a sister, Melissa Browning; and a granddaughter, Tanisha C. Browning.
Terry was a retired coal miner with Island Creek Coal Company and a member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Terry are: his loving wife, Deborah (Kennedy) Browning of Justice; his two sons: Scotty L. (Ronnie Sue) Browning and Terry P. (fiancée Stephany) Browning both of Simon; his daughter, Lida (Jimmie) Lucas of Greensboro NC; his four grandchildren: Cody Browning, Tanner Lucas, Jaci Browning, and Dalton Browning: his mother, Zola Browning; his stepfather, Douglas New; and a host of family and friends. Terry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends called at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church at Simon on Wednesday, March 19th after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 20th at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Blankenship and Landon Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in the Kennedy cemetery at the Long Branch section of Simon. Nephews served as pallbearers.

Brida Lee Toler, 84, of Rockhouse section of Hanover, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 17, 2008, from her residence.
Born on December 13, 1923 at Guyan, WV, she was the daughter of the late Beckett and Corbia (Hatfield) Browning.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Private, Tracy L. Toler; a son, Eugene Toler; two brothers: Buel and Clifton Browning; and four sisters: Mable Rose, Ivy Staton, Flossie Hicks, and Hazel Fortner.
Brida was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Brida are: her son, Ronnie D. (Janetta) Toler of Hanover; her two daughters: Donna (Larry) Musick of Hanover and Shelvia (Hershal) Brown of Logan; her three brothers: Chester (Diana) Browning of Hanover, French and Harry Browning of Justice; her two sisters: Fredonia Adams of Amelia OH and Maxine Straley of Justice; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Thursday, March 20th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 21st at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Fortner and Brother Mark White officiating. Burial followed in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
Pallbearers were: Cory Brown, Larry Joe Musick, Eugene Toler, Chuck Gilberson, Denver Simpson, Scottie Brown, and Michael Hall. Honorary pallbearers were: Shawn Blankenship, Tyler Conley, and Bernie Harper.

Marie (Holbrook) Cline, 86, of Gilbert, went up the heavenly staircase to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from Crest View Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster OH.
Born on March 4, 1922 at Salyersville KY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ressie (Arnett) Holbrook.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bert Mason Cline; two sons: Donald and Danny Ross Cline; one granddaughter, Keisha Cline Hatfield; three brothers and three sisters.
Marie was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Marie are: her daughter, Barbara (David) Ward of Gilbert; her two sons: Terry (Judy) Cline of Lancaster OH, and Doyle (Pinky) Cline of Varney; her two sisters: Opal Christine Jeffers of Dayton OH, and Janet Holbrook of Salyersville KY; her grandchildren: Jeanette (Andy) Toler, Ashley Cline (fiancé Jeff Dotson), Trevor Cline, Lena (Barry) Shandor, Jason Cline, Tony Cline, Amanda Cline, Ashley Blankenship, and Charlene & Christina Ross; her great grandchildren: Gabrielle Toler, Mason & Corey Cline, Peyton Blankenship, and Kierra and Michaela Shandor; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19th at the Mount Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Peggy Ryder and the Rev. Gary Keller officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Log cemetery at Baisden.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
