Velma Jean Criss
Velma Jean Criss, 77, of Birch River, WV died September 10,2008 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Braxton County on January 14, 1931 a daughter of the late Frank and Francis Nutt Harris. Also preceding her in death was her husband Claude Criss and great grandson Camron Scott Criss.
She was a member of the Birch River Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of Jean’s Fabric and Grocery Store and later owned Criss Mini Mart in Birch River.
She is survived by sons, John D. Criss and James F. Criss both of Birch River, WV; daughters, Susan Coffman and husband Larry of Birch River, WV, Patricia Hooker and husband Mark of Birch River, WV and Debra Wooton and husband Fred of Beckley, WV; grandsons she raised, Jonathan Criss of Birch River, WV, and Daris James Criss of Birch River, WV; sisters, Shirley Garanson of Crystal River, FL and Betty Carr of Gadsden, AL; step brothers, John Long of Birch River, WV, and Paul Long of Jacksonville, Fl; step sister Lula Belle Dodrill of Birch River, WV; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Green-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Burial was in Birch River Cemetery, Birch River, WV. Friends called Friday, September 12, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV. Family suggests donations to the Birch River Cemetery Fund, PO Box 208, Birch River, WV 26610. Phyllis J. (Facemire) Tinney
Phyllis J. (Facemire) Tinney, 65, of Mentor, Ohio, formerly of Eastlake Ohio died on September 11, 2008. She was born October 1, 1942 in Richwood, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Charles D. and Delphia (Stalnaker) Facemire.
Mrs. Tinney was a hair stylist for the past 30 years retiring in January 2008 from JC Penney Styling Salon in Mentor.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William “Gene” Tinney, who she married on August 6, 1966; Daughters: Stephanie D. Garland of Willoughby, Kimberly J. Tinney of Oregon, and Alisha D. Tinney of Fairport Harbor; Grandsons: Gary D. Jr. and Joshua E. Garland of Perry; Brothers: Ralph (Sanoh) Facemire of Silver Springs, Maryland, Roger (Cherie) Facemire of Longwood, Florida and Ronald (May) Facemire of Sutton, West Virginia; Sisters: Janet (Howard) Pierson of Niles, Ohio and Brenda (Jack) McClain of Newton Falls, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 2-6 pm at Monreal Funeral Home, Eastlake, OH. Final resting place is in Sutton, West Virginia. Monreal Funeral Home, Eastlake, Ohio is serving the Tinney family.

Nina Elizabeth “Betty” Patrick
Nina Elizabeth “Betty” Patrick, 76, of Gassaway, was called home by her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2008.
Betty was Christian, a homemaker and was an active member and participated in many areas of service at Gassaway Baptist Church throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Patrick; her mother and father, Edna and Virgil Kesling; and her brother, James Kesling. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Barker, her granddaughters, Julianne Barker and Melissa Rhodes and her husband, Chris all of Gassaway; brother, Carl Kesling and wife, Bonnie of Indiana; and nieces and nephews.
Betty was a blessing to others throughout her life. She will be greatly missed but thanks to the love and sacrifice of Jesus, she is now in heaven, where there are no tears, sorrow or pain, and we that remain live by the promise that we will someday be with her again.
Private graveside service will be at the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Regina Pauline Dobbins
Regina Pauline Dobbins, 79, of Crooked Fork, died September 12, 2008 at home. She was born June 9, 1929 in Gilmer County a daughter of the late Clarence and Daisy Allen Deulley.
She was also preceded in death by her children, Dacie Elaine Dobbins and Delvin Glen Dobbins; three brothers and one sister. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by husband, Delvin Dobbins; brother, Sherman Deulley of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Meda Ruth Mohr of Normantown and Lois Lee Rexroad of Ravenna, OH. Service was 11 a.m. Monday, September 15 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Roger Stewart and Pastor George Rose officiating.
Burial was in the Crooked Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sylvia Withrow
Sylvia Withrow, 97, of Sutton, WV died October 12, 2008 in Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, WV. She was born May 4, 1911 in Nicholas County, WV, a daughter of the late Alexander and Roxie Mullins Hall. Also preceding her in death were her husband Clyde McDivitt and daughter Mabel McKinney.
She was a member of the Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla and a homemaker.
She is survived by 2 sons Walter McDivitt & wife Mavadell of Summersville, WV and Roger McDivitt & wife Pearl of Sutton, WV; 3 daughters Carol Richardson & husband John of Sutton, Shirley Rigger and husband Clifford of Pilot Knob, WV and Barbara Williams of Salem, WV; and one sister Vada Amick of Summersville, WV. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla, WV with Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Burial was in the Harper Cemetery, Little Birch, WV. Friends called Tuesday, October 15, 2008 from 6-8 pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

Calvin Aron Burge
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Calvin Aron Burge, 64, of Erbacon went to be with our Lord on October 14, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born October 27, 1943 a son of the late George Whitman and Eliza Mae Sartin Burge.
Calvin was a coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Frame Burge of Erbacon; daughter, Tammy Hinkle; grandson, Joshua Hinkle both of Erbacon; four brothers, Zirl David Burge and wife, Judy of Little Birch, Grover Burge and wife , Opal of Carpenters Fork, Danny Burge and wife, Ann of Erbacon, Lewis Burge and wife, Faith of Exchange.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by son, Jimmy Aron Burge; infant brother, Billy Edward Burge; son-in-law, Daniel Lynn Hinkle.
Service was 11 am Friday, October 17 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. William Griffin officiating. Burial was in the Braxton County Cemetery, Sutton. Friends called from 6 to 9 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Christopher Anthony Morgan
Christopher Anthony Morgan, 26, of Orlando, WV passed away at his home after a short illness.
He was born on April 19, 1982 in Tampa, FL a son of Danny and Elizabeth Hulett Morgan of Flatwoods, WV. He was Methodist by faith. Chris was employed by WV Tree Services in Gassaway. He was also licensed in logging, welding and paint and automobile fabrication.
He is survived by his parents, one daughter, Ashlyn Jaylyn Morgan of Sutton; Fianc?, Amy Elizabeth Ramsey of Orlando; two brothers, Danny Jr. and Robert Morgan both of Sutton, WV.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday October 18, 2008 at Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Darrell Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV. Friends called from 12 noon to service time at the funeral home.

Carl Glenn Boone
Carl Glenn Boone of Alliance, OH, beloved son of Homer and Mary Boone went to his eternal rest on October 17, 2008 while a patient of Arbors of Canton in Canton, OH. He was born May 23, 1967 in Gassaway, WV. He was preceded in death by his father Homer Boone: daughter Destiney Boone; paternal grandparents Minter & Minnie Boone; and maternal grandparents Cecil & Emma Collins.
He graduated from Marlington High School in Alliance, OH and was employed by Reliable Ready Mix. Carl was cherished by his family and country; was an avid coon hunter, loved to ride his Harley and collect and trade guns.
He is survived by his mother Mary Marie Boone of Alliance, OH; 3 sisters Mary White & husband Kenneth of Nakina, NC, Glenna Christian and husband Thurman of Cowen, WV and Debby Sudlow & husband Andy of Webster Springs, WV; and 3 brothers Audley Boone of Webster Springs, WV, John Boone of North Benton, OH and Jim Boone & wife Agatha of North Benton, OH.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Butch Collins officiating. Burial was in the Collins Cemetery, Birch River, WV.
Friends called from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the funeral home.

Evalee Knight Coombs Miller
Evalee Knight Coombs Miller, 78, of Gassaway, WV went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2008. She was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Mack & Lena Wilson Knight. Also preceding her in death were her husbands Allen Burnell Coombs, and Roy A. Miller and her infant son, Jackie Lee Coombs, sister Betty Mae Johnson, great-grandson Jeremy McCoy, and step-son Arnie Miller.
She was a member of the Burnsville Church of God and a homemaker.
She is survived by son Kenneth A. and wife Jo Coombs of Flatwoods, WV, Daughters Linda Stout of Gassaway, WV, Barbara J. and husband David White of Sutton, WV, Brothers James Knight of Cowen, WV, Elmer Knight of Quaker City, Oh, Walter Knight of Sutton, WV, her sisters Edna Evans of Quaker State, OH, Goldie Gross of Wadsworth, OH, Ruth Gross of Sutton, WV, Lorraine Lewis of Lorain, OH, Lucille Justice of Akron, OH, and Violet Marcum of Barberton, OH. Step-daughter Judith and husband Arnold House of LaPlata, MD. 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great, and 1 step-great-great grandchild.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 1, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Propst and Rev. Mike Sisson officiating. Burial was in the Hoover Cemetery, Sutton, WV. Friends called 6-8 pm on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton WV.

Victoria L. Cottrill
Victoria L. Cottrill, 12, of Flatwoods, WV went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2008. She was born August 24, 1995 in Buckhannon, WV a daughter of Franklyn S. and Elizabeth J. Cottrill.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving sister Katlyn Cottrill at home; maternal grandparents, John & Drema Ridenour of Flatwoods; paternal grandmother, Agatha Tinney of Sutton,WV; paternal grandfather, Frank Cottrill of Sand Fork; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Victoria would have been an 8th grade student at Braxton County Middle School where she was in the Band, Chorus and a member of RAZE Club.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Barbara Accord officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service.
