Glenna Weekley Pilgrim, 67, of Homeland, Calif., died Monday, May 15, 1995, at a nursing home near Homeland, after an extended illness. She was born at Nicut, a daughter of the late Fred W. Weekley and Lear Parsons Weekley of Akron, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Smiley Pilgrim of Homeland; one daughter, Sheila Forman of San Jacinto, Calif.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Hill of Linboro, Md.; five brothers, Paul Weekley of Knoxville, Tenn., Lowell Weekley of Spencer, Loy Weekley of Canton, Ohio, Bill Weekley of Wooster, Ohio, and Carroll Weekley of Parkersburg; step-mother, Opal Weekley, Vienna; two step-sisters, Geneva Lucas of Kingman, Ariz., and Barbara Smith of Washington, W.Va.; one step-brother, Larry Cottrell of Orma. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Weekley, in 1994.

Dessel Morrison Plant, 88, of Nella's Inc., Crystal Springs, formerly of Elkins, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 1995, after a brief illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Roy and Ida Collins Morrison. She attended Grantsville schools and worked for the former Montgomery Ward and Sears stores. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, and attended First United Methodist Church, Elkins. Surviving are one step-grandson, Scott Kitzmiller of Bristol, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert R. Plant, in 1985; one son, Richard Plant; two brothers, Troea Morrison and Cody Morrison; and one sister, Dolly Marteney. Services were held at John W. Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home, Elkins, with Rev. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery, Elkins.

Cecil G. Postalwait, 84, of Rosedale, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 1995, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Braxton County, a son of the late Frank and Tida Wright Postalwait. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired oil field worker. Surviving are two sisters, Cleo Hancock of Rosedale and Arlou Laws of St. Albans; four brothers, Carl Postalwait and Bernard Postalwait, both of Rosedale, Don "Jim" Postalwait of Spencer and Jack Postalwait of San Antonio, Tex. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Services were scheduled on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Richard Perrine officiating, and burial in Rosedale cemetery.

Joan L. Allen, 61, of Stumptown, died Saturday June 29, 1996, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Cressie Vanhorn Minigh. She was employed by West VirginiaUniversity Extension Office, Glenville. She was a Lockney Extension Homemaker and was active in various Farm Bureau and 4-H activities. She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Harold Allen; one son, JeffreyAllen of Summersville; two daughters, Annetta Richards of Rosedale and Michelle Allen of Glenville; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Clayon Minigh, Willard Minigh, Wilbur Minigh, Paul Minigh and, Sam, Minigh; and one sister, Edith Goehring. Services were scheduled Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Elder Larry Fisher officiating, and burial in Vanhorn cemetery, Little Bull Run, Cedarville.

Mary Hazel Alltop, 76, of Normantown, died Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Normantown, a daughter of the late A.S. and Ruth Moss Reed. She was a homemaker and a member of Upper Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown. Surviving are two daughters, Nedra Scott and Nelda Gill, both of Smithville; three sons, Hugh Alltop of Grantsville, Roy Alltop of Palestine and Robert Alltop of Troy; two brothers, Wilford Reed of Lagrange, Ohio, and Wilbert Reed of Grafton, Ohio; one sister, Nora Beall of Normantown; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan C. Alltop; one son, Haymond Carl Alltop; one brother; and one sister. Services were held at Upper Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown, with Elder Roger Stewart and Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
ANDERSON, CARL E.
Carl Edwin Anderson, 78, of Overgaard, Ariz., died Tuesday, May 14, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Leatherbark, a son of the late John L. and Mary E. Whytsell Anderson. He attended Calhoun County schools and was a timekeeper for the Calhoun County Courthouse. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the China, Burma and India theaters, and as a clerk for the Army Pipeline Co. He was a farmer and worked for Cleveland Graphite Bronze in Ohio and for Air Research for 15 years in Arizona. He was a member and volunteer builder of the American Legion, Overgaard. Surviving are his wife, Bessie J. McCoy Anderson; one daughter, Sue E. Chunn of Overgaard; one son, John E. Anderson of Show Low, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and one great-grand-daughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles F. Anderson and Williard Anderson; and two sisters, Edith Starcher and Hazel Anderson. Services were held at Stoney Point Church, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. D.L. Kirby officiating. Burial was in Lynch cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

S. Mabel Arthur, 92, of Grantsville, died Monday, July 15, 1996, Care Haven of Belmont. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late U.S. Grant and Canzada Goldsmith Hickman. She was a homemaker ind member of Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Surviving are one son, Warren Arthur of Vienna; two daughters, Janette Kerby of Norton, Ohio, and Maxine Weaver of Tucson, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Arthur, three daughters, Betty Arthur, Margie Arthur and Geneva J. Arthur, five brothers; and five sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

Rev. William "Bill" Arthur, 46, of Spencer, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Spencer, a son of the late Charles Ralph and Jessie Ernestine Ward Arthur. He was pastor of Harvest Tabernacle Church of God, Spencer. He was a lifelong Roane County resident. Surviving are his wife, Donna Arthur; four sons, Michael Arthur of Spencer, Billy Arthur, Charles Arthur and Andrew Arthur, all of the home; two daughters, Lacosta Arthur and Alish Arthur, both of the home; one brother, Douglas Arthur of Spencer; two sisters, Linda Conley of Spencer and Brenda McKown of Arnoldsburg; and one granddaughter, Beth Ann Arthur. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Charles Duncan officiating, and burial in Spencer Memorial cemetery.

Dennis William Ash, 85, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, Aug.4, 1996, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late James Jerome and Castena Virginia Marks Ash. He was a retired maintenance mechanic from Rubber Crafters, Smithville, and attended Leatherbark Community Church, near Arnoldsburg. Surviving are his wife, Leno Starcher Ash; one son, Dickie Lee Ash of Craigsville; one sister, Evelyn Townsend of Ripley; one brother, Glennis Ash of Spencer, three half-sisters, Barbara Marks and Frances Tanner, both of Arnoldsburg, and Nancy Starcher of Big Springs; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Melva Snyder - and Ila Church; two brothers, Cecil Ash and Harley Ash; and two infant brothers. Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Leon Strickland and Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial will be in Clover cemetery, near Spencer. Visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
