CHAPPELL, GOLDIE T.

Goldie Tingler Chappell, 79, of Mount Airy, died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Calhoun County, daughter of the late Elzie and Virginia Richards Tingler. She was retired from Pine State Knitwear, and was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Otis Tillman Chappell, Sr.; one son and daughter-in-law, Otis T. and Jeanette Chappell, Jr., of Mount Airy; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Phil Whitaker of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Julie Chappell, Stephanie Chappell, Vickie Whitaker and Chad Whitaker and wife Amy, all of Mount Airy; one sister, Sylvia Roberts of Nobe; and one brother, Forest Tingler of Big Springs. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elzie Harold Tingler, Paul D. Tingler and Leonard Tingler. Services were held at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Airy, with Rev. Danny Culler officiating. Burial was in Skyline Memory Gardens.

CHENOWETH, ERMA FAYE

Erma Faye Chenoweth, 88, of Ravenna, Ohio, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, at Kent Quality Care Nursing Home, Kent, Ohio. She was born in Webster Springs, a daughter of Robert and Jessie Barr Lamb. She was a charter member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Nicut. She enjoyed being a homemaker and growing flowers, fruits and vegetables. After moving to Windham, Ohio, she was a charter member of Windham Baptist Church where she served as a worker in the Baptist Women's Organization, and Sunday School and Vacation Bible school teacher. She served on several committees in the church and in Steel Valley Baptist Association. She formerly worked as a sales person in Karol Kay Dress Shop, Windham. She was a member of Senior Citizens Club and 50-plus Club of Windham, and belonged to the Senior Citizens group at Prospect House, Ravenna. She lived in Windham for 33 years and moved to Ravenna in August 1994. Surviving are three sons, David R. of Ravenna, Denver, Jr., of Orange Park, Fla., and James of Superior, Ariz.; three daughters, Helen Hathaway of Akron, Kathryn Arnold of Superior and Sharon Smith of Ravenna; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren; a sister, Irene Hamric of Glendon; and ex-husband, Denver Chenoweth of Nicut. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl, who died while in the Air Force during WWII; grandsons, Roger Dale Chenoweth and Joe Hathaway; brothers, James, Earl and Fulton Lamb; and sister, Flossie Cook. Services were held at Windham Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Board officiating. Burial was in Windham cemetery.

COATES, HARRY W.

Harry W. Coates, 59, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Grantsville, died Sunday, Mar. 24, 1996, in Fort Gordon, Ga., after a short illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Sam and Ermel Webster Coates and lived most of his childhood years with his grandfather, Waitman T. Webster, in the White Pine area. He was a retired command sergeant major from the Army and veteran of Vietnam War. He was a Baptist, Mason, and member of VFW. Surviving are three sons, Brent of Miami, Fla., Edward, stationed with the Air Force in San Antonio, Tex., and Steven of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a brother, Alva Joe Coates of Ohio; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Elk Funeral Home, Charleston, with Rev. John Hoskins officiating. Burial was in White Pine cemetery.

COILE, GEORGIA J.

Georgia J. Coile, 88, of Akron, Ohio died Monday, July 22, 1996. She was born in Orma, W.Va., the daughter of Walter Vincent and Mary Ellen Edgell. She was a member of the Bethany Shrine No. 7 White Shrine of Jerusalem where she was past Worthy High Pirestess and a Bethany Shrine Patrol member. She was a member of the Ellestar O.E.S. East Akron Eagles Auxilliary No. 2301 and a member of Church of the Master United Methodist. She is survived by sons, Donald of Wasaga Beach, Candad, and Ronald (Glenna) of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Catherine (David) Clark of the City of Green; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Coile. Services were held at Schemesser Funeral Home Suburban South Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

COLLINS, RODNEY V.

Rodney V. Collins, 65, of Weston, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1995, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness. He was born at Lockney, a son of the late O.A. and Ethel Rexroad Collins. He was a graduate of Normantown High School, Class of 1948, and attended Glenville State College. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran with the rank of master sergeant. He was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Co. with 35 years service where he was a senior repairman for Division III at Weston. He was a former member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown, and a member of Broad Run Baptist Church, Jane Lew. Surviving are his wife, Eva Yoak Collins; one son, Torey Yoak of Weston; and two sisters, Wanda C. Parsons of Parkersburg and Winnie Stalnaker of Letter Gap. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Velda Wade and Tansy Landers. Services were held at Floyd Funeral Home, Weston, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston.

CONLEY, GARY L.

Gary Loudon Conley, 83, of Pt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Pt. Pleasant. He was born in Uler, a son of the late Emory Otis and Carrie Conley. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Glenville State College and Marshall University. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pt. Pleasant, Gideons International of Pt. Pleasant Camp, Greenbrier County Retired Teachers Association, W.Va. Educational Association and Minturn Lodge #19, AF&AM, of Pt. Pleasant. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II. He was the first principal of Beech Hill Elementary School and Central Elementary School, Pt. Pleasant. He served as principal of Jodie Elementary, Gauley Bridge, East Rainelle Elementary, Greenbrier County, and White Sulphur Elementary School. He retired from teaching on June 30, 1976. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Anna Cook Conley; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Ellis E. and Julia Conley, and grand-sons, John E. Conley and David C. Conley, all of Buckhannon. Services were held at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Pt. Pleasant, with Rev. Steven E. Dorsey officiating. Burial was in Kirkland Memorial Gardens near Pt. Pleasant with Masonic graveside services.

CONLEY, FELICIA DAWN

Felicia Dawn Conley, 8, of Chloe, died Tuesday, July 30, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Franklin Duane Conley and Angela Jo Watkins. She was a third grade student at Minnora Elementary- Surviving are her paternal grandparents, Franklin D. and Dorma Siers Conley of Chloe; maternal grandparents, Daris and Mary Long Watkins of Chloe; one half-brother, Timothy Tallharnmer of Grantsville; maternal great-grandparents, Buford and Mable Long of Duck; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Magdeline Watkins of Beckley; and paternal great-grandfather, Earl Conley of Chloe. Joint services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

FRANKLIN D. CONLEY

Franklin Duane Conley, 35, of Chloe, died Tuesday, July 30, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Braxton County, a son of Franklin and Dorma Siers Conley of Chloe. He was a welder. Surviving in addition to his parents are one son, Timothy Tallhammer of Grantsville, and paternal grandfather, Earl Conley of Chloe. Joint services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

CONRAD, EDRA L.

Edra L. Conrad, 72, of Grantsville, passed away Monday, May 13, 1996, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston. She was born in Richwood, a daughter of the late Shirley and Delma Marshall Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Robert L. Conrad of Grantsville; one daughter, Nancy L. Baker of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Bill Smith of Grantsville; and one sister, Jaunita Stewart of Crestview, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Harley Conrad, and one brother, James S. Smith. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery, Millstone.

CONRAD, SHELIA LYNN

Shelia Lynn Moss Conrad, 42, of Longs, S.C., died Sunday, Mar. 31, 1996, at Grand Strand Regional Hospital, Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of John and Lucy Miller Moss of Glenville. She was an employee of Myrtle Beach Condominium Management and was a Baptist. Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Robert Conrad; two daughters, Christina Conrad and Crystal Conrad, both of Longs; four sisters, Sue McKinney of Dansville, N.Y., Sharon Mencer of Glenville, Carol "Pat" Huston of Hundred and Robyn Johnson of Grantsville; and four brothers, Steven Moss, David Moss, Jeff Moss and John Moss, Jr., all of Glenville. Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Glenville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating.

COOPER. GENEVIEVE

Genevieve Cooper, 67, of Chloe, Calhoun County, died Sunday, March 17, 1996, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer. She was born in Clay County, a daughter of the late William G. and Millie Deal Arnold. She was a member of the Mud Fork Union Church, Chloe. Surviving are her husband, Brooks Cooper; one son, Robert Cooper of Chloe; one daughter, Vicky Bolyard of Charleston; one brother, the Rev. Darius Arnold of Nebo; two grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, Burial was in Cooper cemetery, Nebo.
