HAMRICK, FRANK B.

Frank Ballard Hamrick, 59, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 1996, at Holbrook Nursing Home, Buckhannon, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Grantsville, son of the late Morgan Tamblyn "Hick" Hamrick and Edith Smith Hamrick. His father was principal and coach at Calhoun County High School at the time. He graduated from Stonewall-Jackson High School, Charles-ton, in 1954. He attended W.Va. Wesleyan College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha order. He graduated from Morris Harvey College, Charleston, and received a degree in civil engineering from W.Va. Tech. He also attended WVU, Charleston Campus. He worked as a design engineer for W.Va. Dept. of Highways for many years. He was a member of 150th Armored Calvary Regiment of W.Va. National Guard, serving active duty during the 1961-62 Berlin/Cuba Crisis. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Charleston, John Bawley American Legion Post 20, Charleston, and a DeMoley. He is survived by two aunts, Mary Elizabeth Jones and Margaret Deem of Pennsboro, and several cousins. Graveside services were scheduled Wednesday, noon, at Sunset Garden Memorial Park, Charleston.

HARRIS, DELPHA

Delpha Harris, 96, of Stumptown, Mikes Run Community, died Monday, July 8, 1996, at her daughters residence, Petroleum. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Jenkins Dobbins. She taught school in Calhoun County, was a former cook for Calhoun County Board of Education and was a member of Rush Run Extension Homemakers and Rush Run Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, Kenneth "Mike" Harris and Clarence Harris, both of Stumptown, and Sam Harris and Alva Harris, both of Grafton, Ohio; seven daughters, Betty McCune and Minnie Stalnaker, both of Grafton, Deloris Lyons of Brunswick, Ohio, Carolyn Morton of Harrisville, Nellie Settle of Petroleum and Lyda Harris and Lou Miller, both of Stumptown; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Harris; one daughter, and one sister. Services were held at Rush Run Baptist. Church, Stumptown, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Collins Community cemetery, Stumptown.

HAERTSCH, ALICE V.

Alice Virginia Haertsch, 94, of Parkersburg, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1996, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Big Bend, a daughter of the late Peter and Sarah Haverty Greathouse. She was a retired beautician and a volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was a member of 36th Street Church of Christ, Vienna. Surviving are two nieces, Marjorie Young of Whitewater, Wisc., and Martha Fauber of Bossier City, La. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Haertsch. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

HATHAWAY, BARBARA A.

Barbara A. Hathaway, 62, of Palestine, died Thursday, Mar. 28, 1996, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born in Millstone, a daughter of Eda Wilson Stalnaker of Williamstown and the late William A. Stalnaker. She was a 1952 Calhoun County High School graduate and attended Roane-Jackson Vo- Tech Center where she became a certified nursing assistant. She was a certified emergency medical technician and volunteered for Roane County Emergency Medical Services and Wirt County Emergency Medical Services. She was co-owner of B and K Furniture of Elizabeth and Newark and was a member of Wirt County Republican Executive Committee. She was founding president of Wirt County Republican Woman's Club and a member of Wirt County activity planning committee for West Virginia Homecoming '96. She also served on various parade committees in Elizabeth and attended Elizabeth Baptist Fellowship. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 41 years, Frank D. Hathaway; three sons, Timothy D. Hathaway, Terrance F. Hathaway and Richard G. Hathaway, all of Parkers-burg; one daughter, Kimberly K. Hathaway of Palestine; one brother, Larry Stalnaker of Williamstown; one sister, Beverly Jordan of Leon; 10 grandchildren; several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by one brother, William B. Stalnaker in 1986. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Gladson Grim officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery, Reedy.

HAVERTY, DENVER

Denver Haverty, 82, of Mineral Wells, died Saturday, July 1996, in the emergency room of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Charlie B. 0 and Amanda E. Bailey Haverty. He retired from DuPont with 26 years of service and was a former employee of American Viscose. He served with W.Va. National Guard, Spencer. He was a 50-year member of Beni Kedem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Charleston and Jackson Chapter No. 48 R.A.M. of Ravenswood. He was a member of Boggs Fork Community Church, Roane County. Surviving are his wife, Gladys V. Waggoner Haverty; one son, Paul Haverty of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Herbert Haverty of Parkersburg and Otto Haverty of Santee, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Services were held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. David Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery, Mineral Wells.

HAWKINS, CARL S.

Carl S. Hawkins, 71, of Grantsville, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1996, at Charleston Area Medical Center. He was born in Industrial, a son of the late Carl H. and Pearl Coffman Hawkins. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was employed by International Harvester Co. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Juanita Lewis Hawkins of Chicago; one daughter, Carolyn Perry of Vineland, N.J.; one sister, Carletta June McCohon of Florida; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James William Hawkins; two brothers, Walter Hawkins and James Hawkins; and one sister, Ruth Williams. Services were held at Greathouse Funeral Home, Nutter Fort, with Rev. James Feeney officiating. Burial was in Stonewall Park cemetery, Stonewood.

HAWKINS, EVON A.

Evon A. Hawkins, 68, of Mt. Zion, died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Nicut, a daughter of Maude Arnold Parsons of Mt. Zion and the late Vere Parsons. She was a homemaker. Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Carolyn Flinn and Chris Blake, both of Wadsworth, Ohio; five sons, Junior Flinn of Portland, Ohio, Gary Flinn and Larry Flinn, both of Wadsworth, James Flinn and Bill Flinn, both of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister, Wilma Webb of Fayetteville; two brothers, Gordon Parsons of Downey, Calif., and Junior Parsons of Orange, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Johnson; one sister, Inez Parsons; one brother, Bruce Parsons; and one grandchild, Avery Flinn. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Robert Shannon officiating, and burial in King cemetery near Nicut.

HAYHURST, DELTA

Delta Hayhurst, 81, of Clarksburg, formerly of Grantsville, died Sunday, July 7, 1996, at Meadowview Manor, Clarksburg. She was, born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Laymon and Mary Smith Godfrey. She was a homemaker and a Christian. Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann Nicholas of Jane Lew; one son, Richard Hayhurst of Gauley Bridge; one sister, Wanda Kelley of Grantsville; three brothers, Dolin Godfrey, Junior Godfrey and Donald Godfrey, all of Grantsville; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hayhurst; one infant son, Hoyt Neal Hayhurst; two sisters, Elanor Godfrey and Gladys Hopkins; and two brothers, Clifford Godfrey and Paul Godfrey. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Kurt Busick officiating, and burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

HICKS, CORA F.

Cora F. Hicks, 80, of Chloe, died Saturday, Mar. 23, 1996, at the residence of her daughter in Mineral Wells. She was born in Milo, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ormo W. and Cordelia West Rinehart. She was a homemaker and attended Walker United Methodist Church. Surviving are six sons, Gene Hicks of Ohio, Jarrett Hicks of Statesville, N.C., Carroll "Buck" Hicks of Orma, Edward Hicks, Donnie Hicks and Forest Hicks, all of Chloe; five daughters, Frances Edman of Parkersburg, Sue Sampson of Mineral Wells, Gwendolyn Simmons of Minnora, Patricia Siers of Chloe and Margaret Lantz of Mt. Clare; one sister, Mildred Lyons of Akron; one halfbrother, Willard Rinehart of Florida; 34 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Iras Hicks; one daughter, Mary Parsons; three brothers; and one grandson. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Clark Jarvis cemetery, Chloe.

HINZMAN, KENT B.

Kent B. Hinzman, 48, of Five Forks, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1996, at University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late Darwin and Lois Riddle Hinzman. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a school bus driver in Calhoun County. He was a member of Five Forks Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Bessie Yoak Hinzman; one daughter, Lynda Hinzman of the home; one son, Charles Hinzman of the home; one sister, Kathy Hinzman of Parkersburg; and one brother, Kyle Hinzman of Tanner. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Yoak-Hinzman cemetery, Five Forks.

HOLPP, GRACE

Grace Holpp, 101, of Belpre, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Arcadia Nursing Center, Coolville. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Clement Fox and Susanna Yoak. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Gleaners Circle and Belpre Heights United Methodist Church. Surviving are three grandchildren, Sherri Rafferty, William T. Wilcoxen and Phyllis Edgell, all of Belpre; four great-grand- children; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Holpp; one daughter, Clara Mae Holpp Wilcoxen; six brothers; and six sisters. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Spencer Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Paul McGuire officiating, and burial in Evergreen cemetery.

HOOVER, HERBERT M.

Herbert M. Hoover, 71, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late George and Rhoda Arnold Hoover. He retired from O. Ames as an inspector after 38 years of service, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of 14th Avenue Gospel Mission. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mavis L. Siers Hoover; three sons, Chester Hoover of Clarksburg, George Hoover of Jasper, Ga., and Brian Hoover of Mineral Wells; one daughter, Bonnie Hoover of New Market, Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Rex Hoover of Massillon, Ohio, and James Hoover of Warsaw, Ohio; and two sisters, Gae Bailey of Minnora and Ernestine Parsons of Massillon. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jake Hoover; and two sisters, Ellen Hoover and Glenadine Pritt. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Dean Ash and Rev. Danny Jeffrey officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.
