STEED, DONNA MAY

Donna May Steed, 63, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, June 15, 1996, at her residence. She was born at Brohard, a daughter of the late Dorcy and Eula Mills Wilson. She was a 1951 Wirt County High School graduate and a 1954 Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital School of Nursing graduate. She was employed as a pediatric nurse at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital from 1954 until her retirement in 1993. She was an active member and chairman of the trustee board at Seventh Street United Methodist Church, Parkersburg. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Theodore C. Steed, Jr.; two sons, Ronald Dean Steed of Parkersburg and Joseph Paul Steed, . of Little Hocking; two daughters, Barbara Kay Reed of Reedsville and Beverly Ann Daugherty of Parkersburg; one brother, Paul Wilson of Grantsville; one sister, Mabel Stevens of Munday; and 10 grandchildren. Services were held at Seventh Street U.M. Church, with Rev. Steve Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

STEIMLING, DAVID

David E. Steimling, Sr., 61, of Sand Ridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1996, at Charleston Area Medical Center. He was born in Barnesville, Pa., a son of the late Henry and Estella Kissinger Steimling. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean conflict and member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Spencer. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Shafer Steimling of Sand Ridge; two sons, David E. Steimling, Jr., and Darrell Steimling, both of Chicago, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Cynthia Steimling of Illinois, Susan Forsyth of Missouri and Dorothy J. Boyle of New Jersey; five stepsons, Walter A. Boyle of Morgantown, Joseph Boyle and Paul Boyle, both of Merchantville, N.J., and James Boyle and Thomas Boyle, both of Vineland, N.J.; two sisters, Winifred Zerne of Crownsville, Md., and Carol Holland of San Jose, Calif.; and six stepgrandchildren. Burial was at family's convenience.

STEWART, DIANNAH

Diannah Stewart, 79, of Spencer, died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Catherine Hicks. She was a retired employee of Spencer State Hospital and attended Spencer Baptist Temple. Surviving are one daughter, Wanda Crislip of Parkersburg; three sons, Charles Stewart, Nolan Stewart and Roger Stewart, all of Spencer; three sisters, Dora Miller of Stow, Ohio, Sue Jones of Akron and Delores Grimm of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; three brothers, Bronzel Hicks of Spencer, Clyde Hicks of Clay and Gerald Hicks of Leesburg, Fla.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Stewart; one daughter, Katherine Stewart; two sisters; and two brothers. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Rick Perrine officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, near Reedy.

STULL, TRACY M.

Tracy M. Stull, 75, of Grantsville, died Saturday, March 16, 1996, at her daughter's residence in Mt. Zion. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Sinamie and Icy Carpenter Lamp. She attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Surviving are seven sons, Doug Stull and Earl Stull, both of Grantsville, David Stull of Clarksburg, Jack Stull of Big Bend, Larry Stull, Eugene Stull and Johnny Stull, all of Mt. Zion; six daughters, Dottie Harris and Leona Nester, both of Grantsville, Linda Simers of Mt. Zion, Rosemary Martin, Elizabeth Parsons and Kathleen Wagoner, all of Big Springs; four brothers, Clarence Lamp of Hickory, N.C., Albert Lamp of Adrian, David Lamp and Henry Lamp, both of Barberton, Ohio; one sister, Gladys Bennett of Clarksburg; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildrend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Stull; one son, Robert Stull; one daughter, Phyllis Sampson; one sister, Millie Godfrey; and two brothers, James Edward Lamp and Simmie Lamp. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville with Rev. Fred Sparks officiating.

STUMP, ETTA

Etta Stump, 78, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1996, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Francis Elsworth and Sarah Alice Starkey Smith. She was a former mercantile clerk in Grantsville and a member of Millstone Church of Christ. Surviving are three sons, Roger D. Stump of Five Forks, Donald H. Stump of Grantsville and James R. Stump of Alum Bridge; one granddaughter, Barbara Michelle Stump of Grantsville; one stepgrandson; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison Hays Stump; one sister, Eva Spellman; and one brother, Delbert Smith. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend.

STUMP, THELMA F.

Thelma Francis Stump, 87, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Howard and Columbia Miller Cox. She was employed by the Calhoun County Board of Education, having taught for 41 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, where she was active in the Fell-Kennedy Sunday School Class. She was a Glenville State College graduate. Surviving are one son, James V. Stump of Grantsville; two daughters, Margaret Ann Snyder and Patricia J. Arnold, both of Charleston; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Liona Riddel of Grantsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Gerald Stump, in 1973; and two brothers. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

STURM, LEONA

Leona Sturm, 92, of Charleston, died Sunday, Mar. 31, 1996, at her home after a long illness. She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Jonathan and Ernestine Barnett Casto. She formerly resided in Hur and was employed by the Hur Telephone Co., as a switch operator for the original "grapevine" company which served a rural area stretching from Hur, Creston, Joker, and Annamoriah to Barnes Run, Rocksdale, and Richardson. She operated the office from the end of the great depression through World War II, concluding her tenure in the early 1950's. She was a retired employee of O.J. Morrison Dept. Store, Charleston. Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Hall of Pinch; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holly Sturm, in 1938; and two sons, William G. Sturm, in 1959, and Holly D. "Jim" Sturm, in 1990. Services were held with Rev. Kyle Key officiating. Burial was in Elk Hills Memorial Park, near Pinch.

SUTTLE, ELLA MARIE

Ella Marie Suttle, 95, of Big Bend, died Wednesday, May 1, 1996, at Parkview Health Care Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Dyer and Dora Belknap. She was a homemaker and a member of Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church, Sand Ridge. Surviving are one daughter, Beulah Shields of Big Bend; three stepdaughters, Pearl Meadows of Stumptown, Violet Mellot of Arnoldsburg and Elizabeth Meadows of Mt. Clare; one stepson, Earl Suttle of McConnelsville; three brothers, George Belknap of Cedarville, Ray Belknap of Erie, Pa., and Gerald Belknap of Youngstown, Ohio; 36 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Suttle; one son, Oscar Shields; one daughter, Eula Wright; three sisters, Clara Rexroad, Myrtly Lacy and Hazel Petticrew; and two brothers, Harley Belknap and Coy Belknap. Services were held Saturday at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Elder Austin White officiating. Burial was in Collins Community cemetery, Stumptown.

TALLHAMER, SAMUEL J.

Samuel John Tallhamer, 74, of Beatrice, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1996, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late Leonard and Dolly See Tallhamer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from O. Ames Co., Parkersburg, after 31 years of service. He was a member of Middle Run Church near Little Gap. Surviving are his wife, Oleta M. Deuley Tallhamer; six daughters, Dorothy Kennedy of Grantsville, Linda Atkinson of Washington, Barbara Parsons of Five Forks, Marion Gaston, Carol Wilson and Diane Haught, all of Beatrice; one son, Rex Tallhamer of Smithville; six brothers, Robert Tallhamer of Elyria, Ohio, James Guy Tallhamer of La Grange, Ohio, Clarence Tallhamer of Grafton, Ohio, Junior Tallhamer of Oberlin, Ohio, Harry Tallhamer of Stumptown and Park Tallhamer of Glenville; one sister, Cathryn Suttle of Zanesville, Ohio; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, George Tallhamer, and one sister, Ruby Wood. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Randy Wilson and Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Turner cemetery, Lockney.

THORNBURG, NOLA G.

Nola Garnet Freshour Thornburg, 80, of Heritage Health Care Center, Arcadia, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 1996, at the center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Roy and Edna E. Whipkey Freshour. She worked as an aide in mental health services and was a Baptist. Surviving are one son, Carl Jackson Thornburg of Tennessee; one brother, Turner Freshour of Parkersburg; two sisters, Leona McDonald of Kentucky and Martha Feiler of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alfred Thornburg; seven brothers; and six sisters. Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Paul T. Morton officiating, and visitation on Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Franklin Funeral Chapel, Parkersburg.

TINGLER, PAUL D.

Paul D. Tingler, 77, of Big Springs, Calhoun County, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 1996, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Elzia and Virginia Richards Tingler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Quartermaster Corps in the European Theatre. He retired from Calhoun Super Service and was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Methodist Church, Big Springs. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Smith Tingler; three sons, Paul D. Tingler II of Williamstown, Joseph Tingler of Big Springs and Richard L. Tingler of Lowell, Ohio; two sisters, Sylvia Roberts of Nobe and Goldie Chappell of Mount Airy, N.C.; one brother, Forest Tingler of Big Springs; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Tingler and E. Harold Tingler. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, near Grantsville.

TRIPPETT, ARLENE

Arlene Trippett, 87, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Homer and Annie Francis Trippett. She was formerly employed by Francis Hardware Co., Grantsville, for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville and Fell Kennedy Sunday School Class. Surviving are one sister, Otta Fowler of Grantsville, and one nephew, Billy D. Trippett of Grantsville. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.
