BEALL, HUNTER, JR.

Hunter B. Beall, Jr., 75, of Rosedale, died Monday, Mar. 8, 1999, at his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late Hunter and Oma Brown Beall. He was the former owner and operator of Beall's Gulf Service Station, Parkersburg, and was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., Parkersburg, with 20 years of service and was a former partner in H&R Block, Glenville. He was a member of Rosedale United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, song leader and youth director. Surviving are his wife, Millie Sams Beall; two daughters, Pamela Fleming of Parkersburg and Amy Self of Glenville; one son, Hunter L. Beall of Weston; two step-daughters, Kim Fury and Sharon Bell, both of Parkersburg; two sisters, Eula Miller of Parkersburg and Anne Glover of Glenville; nine grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Alvie Loyd officiating. Burial was in Stalnaker cemetery, Glenville.

BEE, EARLE

Earle R. Bee, 89, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Worthington Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late George W. and Mattie Hardman Bee. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an active member of Baptist Temple. He retired after more than 40 years as an optician in affiliation with Doctors Cochran, Robinson, Conrath and Hall. He was a member of American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1118, Parkersburg, Ohio Valley Literary Group, and W.Va. Poetry Society. He was a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary L. Day Bee; two sons, Billy E. Bee of Parkersburg and Robert E. Bee of Lansing, Mich.; one grandson; two granddaughters; and five great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Bee; three brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. William R. Thomas officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

BEECHER, CHARLES

Charles W. Beecher, 82, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Apollo, Pa., and was a well-known area oil and gas producer and owner of Beecher Drilling Co., Grantsville. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are one brother, James Beecher of Grantsville; a nephew, James Prusack of Grantsville; and two brothers-in-law, Dale Rupert and Arthur Prusack, both of Munday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille R. Beecher, and one sister, Virginia Prusack. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

BELKNAP, HESTER

Hester Belle Belknap, 87, of Mt. Zion, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Roane General Hospital, after a long illness. She was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters, Hazel J. Carter of Bartow, Fla., Linda Kay Edens of Charleston and Lena Mae Bishop of Arnolds-burg; one son, Glen G. Belknap of Sutton; six grandchildren in-cluding Jessie M. White of Chloe and James Robert Bishop of Arnoldsburg; and one great- grandson. Services were held at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, with Rev. David Keeney officiating. Burial was in Centralia cemetery.

BELL, KENNETH

Kenneth R. Bell, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, in Norton, Ohio. He was born in Annamoriah, the son of the late Earl and Monnie Bell. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He moved to the Barberton/Norton area in 1946 and retired from B&W with 391/2 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Gregory Bell; four daughters, Mary "Judy" Meadows and Norma Gregory, both of Norton, and Doris Blankenship and Hilda Tshudy, both of Wadsworth, Ohio; two sons, Lloyd Gregory and Joseph Gregory, both of Wadsworth; two brothers, Thomas Bell of Norton and Shirley William Bell of Clinton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Fostine Bell of Parkersburg and Mary Louise Bell of Annamoriah; and special friends, Jay and Marla Wheeland and daughters. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Cooper and Betty Duskey, and two brothers, John and Harold Bell. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m., at Snyder Chapel Community Church, Annamoriah, with Pastor Farley Blankenship officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Betty Bell, c/o Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, OH 44203.

BELT, LOTTIE

Lottie J. Belt, 97, formerly of Big Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Sunbridge Health Care Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Freed, the daughter of the late Rev. Jacob and Viola Shimer Snider. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Hoy Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Jean Bush and Marlene Lewis, both of Mineral Wells; one son, Raymond Belt of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Bernice Kral of Summit, Mo., Lela Mathess of Columbus, Ohio, and Gladys Johnson of Williamstown; one brother, Martin J. Snider of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Belt, in 1979; one daughter; three sisters; and two brothers. Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m., at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Rev. David Bush officiating. Burial will be in Saunders cemetery, Big Springs. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and until the time of services on Thursday.

BISHOP, PAUL G.

Paul G. Bishop, 82, of Sand Fork, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston. He was born at Rosedale, the son of the late Lewis and Ursala Dobbins Bishop. He was a self-employed timberman and sawmill operator. Surviving are his wife, Gathel King Bishop; two sons, Arden Bishop of Warren, Ohio, and David Bishop of Sand Fork; three daughters, Ruth James of Sand Fork, Ermal Harris of Katy, Tex., and Mary Gumm of New Fairfield, Conn.; three brothers, Lester, Chester and Edward Bishop, all of Sutton; two sisters, Gae Lane of Spokane, Wash., and Hazel Brown of Wheeling; nine grand-children; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Carl Bishop and Victor Bishop; and three sisters, Freda McDonald, Mary Ellen Bishop and Gertrude Bishop. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in King cemetery, Nicut.

BLACK, MARY

Mary Ruth Harris Black, 101, of Ft. Myers, Fla., died Monday, Feb 15, 1999. She was originally from Gilmer and Calhoun counties, the daughter of the late Asa B. and Sarah Margaret Leech Harris. She had resided in Ft. Myers for 21 years. She obtained her first grade teaching certificate from Glenville Normal School in 1916 and taught in one room schoolhouses in Ritchie, Gilmer and Lewis counties. She was a member of Mt. Liberty United Methodist Church since 1914, and former member of Bull River Woman's Club, Women's Auxiliary of VFW and American Legion, Grantsville, Daughters of the Confederacy, Akron, Ohio, Grantsville Rebekah Lodge #52, where she held numerous offices including noble grand. In 1971, she was Calhoun County Belle at the West Virginia Folk Festival. Surviving are two daughters, Katheryn Ellyson, with whom she made her home, and Margaret Iwana Stevens of Cleveland; two sons, Albert P. and Duane H., both of Ft. Myers; five grand-daughters, Sharon Wick, Shelley Palmer, Sharlene Miller, Rebecca Mason and Jeanie Forepaugh; two grandsons, Joseph Ellyson and Douglas Black; three great- granddaughters, Sherry Chancey, Kristin Palmer and Danille Ellyson; two great-grandsons, David and Dean Mason; one great-great-grandson, Steven Chancey; two step-great-grandsons, Daniel Mason and Kurt Wick; one step-great-granddaughter, Dawn Lake; three step-great-great- grandsons, Dustin, Stephen and Landon Lake; one step-great-great- granddaughter, Allysa Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar P. Black, Jan. 2, 1977; three brothers, Earle, Howard and Paul Harris; and one sister, Nellie H. McClain. She was the last remaining member of her family. Memorial services were conducted by Grantsville Rebekah Lodge #52. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem IOOF cemetery, near Grantsville.

BOATRIGHT, ELLA

Ella Whytsell Boatright, 89, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Mt. Zion, died Monday, July 19, 1999, in Pebble Creek Nursing Center, Akron. She was born in Altizer, the daughter of the late George and Mini Starcher Whytsell. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are three step-daughters, Leola Shillingburg and Olena Hopkins, both of Akron, and Wanda Stone of Hemingway, S.C., and three step-sons, Hildreth Boatright of Belpre, Ohio, Howard Boatright of Akron and Ardell Boatright of Marshall, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Boatright in 1983; one sister, Genevieve Holmes; and four brothers, Edwin, Fred, Paul and George Whytsell, Jr. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Richard Swearingen officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

BOGGS, ALMA

Alma L. Boggs, 71, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Mar. 28, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Glenville, the daughter of the late Mallie and Inda Richards Parsons. She was retired from Calhoun General Hospital and attended Victory Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Leonard Gay Boggs of Grantsville and Bernard Ray Boggs of Mineral Wells; one step-son, Lester Boggs of Lakeside, Calif.; one daughter, Donna Dawson of Kirtland, N.M.; two sisters, Lucy Roberts and Ellen Nutter, both of Little Hocking, Ohio; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her good friend, Mabel Marks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Boggs; two brothers, Leo and Lynn Parsons; and one sister, Irene Roberts. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mike Worf officiating, and burial in St. Paul cemetery.

BOGGS, CHARLES, SR.

Charles E. Boggs, Sr., 70, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Wyatt and Lora Jarvis Boggs. He worked as an inspector in the construction business. Surviving are one son, Charles E. Boggs, Jr., of Grantsville; and two brothers, Brett Boggs of Charleston and Clyde Boggs of Pineville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Umstead Boggs. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

BOGGS, ENA BARR

Ena Barr Boggs, 92, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late McClellan and Jane Sharps Barr. She was a member of First Bap-tist Church, Grantsville, Daughters of the American Revolution, Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and Grantsville Women's Club. She donated property for the Grantsville Park and swimming pool. Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Rishak of Atlanta, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Boggs of Akron; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Boggs. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.
