Ruth V. Butler, 77, of Chloe, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Roane General Hospital. She was born at Beech, the daughter of the late David and Etta Wines Bailey. Surviving are her husband, Doy Butler; three sons, Teddy A. Butler of Plymouth, Ohio, Basil D. Butler of Chloe and Stephen L. Butler of Apple Creek, Ohio; one brother, Jack Bailey of Man; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Greely Bailey, and Criss and Dutch Hall. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Orma United Methodist Church cemetery.
CAMPBELL, EDITH
Edith H. Kirby Campbell, 93, of Vienna, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late William Thomas Campbell and Stella Woodring Campbell. She was a member of Camden Avenue Church of Christ. She was a beautician in the Akron and Cleveland areas, and owned and operated Edee's Beauty Shop, Cleveland. Surviving are one son, Harold C. Kirby of Wildwood, Fla.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sylvester R. Kirby; second husband, Thomas Campbell; one son, Forrest G. Kirby; two brothers, Earl and Ernest Campbell; and one sister, Edna Amos. Services were held at Franklin Funeral Chapel, Parkersburg, with Evangelist Brian Jones officiating. Burial was in Evergreen North cemetery.

Glenneth Belle Carpenter, 77, of Glenville, died Thursday, Apr. 22, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Daniel Monroe and Effie Ann Danley Miller. She was a former employee of Thompson Dry Cleaning Co., Glenville. Surviving are her husband, Clarence Carpenter; one daughter, Lorraine Moss of Salem, Ohio; one sister, Jerry Thompson of Glenville; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Reaser and Nelson Gene Reaser. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Meadow Lane cemetery, Glenville.
CHEVALIER, LONA
Lona B. Chevalier, 90, of Reedsville, died Saturday, Apr. 24, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Nobe, the daughter of the late James and Annie Radabaugh Murphy. She was a homemaker and a member of Reedsville United Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, Lowell Chevalier of Reedsville, Zenith Chevalier of Belpre and Garrel Chevalier of Fredrickstown, Ohio; two daughters, Evelyn Spencer and Caryl Reed, both of Tuppers Plains, Ohio; one sister, Daisy Provance of Athens, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Chevalier; six brothers and two sisters. Services were held at Reedsville U.M. Church, with Rev. Wendell Stutler officiating. Burial was in Reedsville cemetery.

Reta Clark, 63, of Barberton, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of Lemuel and Eva Propst Stemple. She was a resident of Barberton for 46 years and a member of Living Work Assembly Church, Barberton. Surviving are her husband, Carson Clark; one son, Tim Clark; two daughters, Brenda S. Turner and Connie J. Scott; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Mabel, Freda and Mae. Services were held at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Hylton officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery, Akron, Ohio.

Lilly G. Cogar, 94, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Tom and Rebecca Burrows Cogar. She was a former foster grandmother in the Calhoun County school system and was a housekeeper for many families in Grantsville. She was a former employee of Calhoun General Hospital and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Services were scheduled Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Visitation was scheduled at the funeral home on Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m.

Harley R. Collins, 76, of Big Springs, died Sunday, Apr. 4, 1999, at his home. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of Clay and Murell Holbert Collins. He was retired from Haught Drilling Co. and was a member of Hoy Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Monroe Collins; four sons, Kenneth Ray Collins and Michael Collins, both of Elizabeth, David Collins of Big Springs and Harley Paul Collins of Petroleum; one daughter, Linda Myer of Grantsville; one sister, Leota Cunningham of Harrisville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating, and burial in Saunders cemetery, Big Springs.

Norma L. Collins, 61, of Northfield, Ohio, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, after an eight-month fight against cancer. She was the daughter of the late Marjorie L. Betts of Grants-ville and was a 1955 graduate of Calhoun County High School. Surviving are her husband, Harley (Joe) Collins; two daughters, Kathy Rataj of Aurora, Ohio, and Cheryl Palatas of Boston Heights, Ohio; six grandchildren, Amanda, Kristen and Joey Palatas and Shaun, Ryan and Aaron Rataj; and one brother, Jack Betts. Services were held at Walton Hills Church of Christ, Walton Hills, Ohio. Burial was in Northfield-Macedonia cemetery, Northfield, Ohio.
CONLEY, EARL
Earl D. Conley, 104, of Chloe, died Saturday, Mar. 27, 1999, at Roane General Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late John S. and Martha Jarvis Conley. He was a member of Minnora United Methodist Church and Minnora IOOF Lodge. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are four sons, Shirley, Frank and Graves Conley, all of Chloe, and Earl Conley, Jr., of Orma; one daughter, Lelah Sergent of Henderson; and 27 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Conley in 1986; three sons, Vere, Dewey and Genole Conley; and three daughters, Nina Lawrence, Mary Hays and Wilma Conley. Services were held at Minnora U.M. Church, with Rev. Glendon McKee, Rev. Tim Hickman and Rev. Roger Flesher officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

John G. Connell, 82, of Glenville, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston. He was born in Georgia, the son of the late Henry S. and Texarcana Parrish Connell. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 11th Airborne Division. He was a retired employee of the City of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and was a member of Gilmer County Senior Citizens and Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Kenneth Connell of Glenville; three granddaughters, Donna LaSalata of Grantsville and Sherri Lyn Connell and Ronni Kim McCumbers, both of Glenville; and four great- grandchildren. Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville, with Rev. Michael Ford officiating. Burial was in Good Shepherd cemetery, Tanner.

Hazel M. Connolly, 90, of Davisville, died Saturday, Apr. 17, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Rocksdale, the daughter of the late Edwin L. and Rettie Starcher Whytsell. She was a member of Davisville Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Roy E. Connolly; two sons, Ernert E. Kemmer of Parkersburg and Roy E. Connolly of Davisville; three daughters, Mary Ann Cunningham of Parkersburg, Wilda M. Davis of Sanford, Fla., and Janet L. Lamp of Waverly; three brothers, Randall, Woodrow and Victor Whytsell, all of Arnolds-burg; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth McCoy; two brothers, Charles and Dewey Whytsell; and one grandson, Richard D. Richards. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with George Haithcock officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Evelyn Marie Conrad, 82, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at her daughter's residence. She was born in Grantsville and resided in the Akron area for many years before retiring from Lakeshore Distributors in 1979 and returning to West Virginia. Surviving are one son, Richard Conrad of Akron; one daughter, Barbara Cramer of Suffield, Ohio; one sister, Betty Rowland of Muncie, Ind., nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Conrad, and one daughter, Jean Butler Webb. Services were held at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Kenneth L. Frisbee officiating. Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park.

Freddie J. Coon, Jr., 75, of Mt. Zion, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Fred and Etta Lee Husk Coon. He was a member of VFW Post 59 and FFA, and was a Baptist. He was a retired mechanic for Hertz Corp. Surviving are his wife, Murlene Starcher Coon; one son, Charles Coon of Mt. Zion; four daughters, Beverly Wagner of South Point, Ohio, Norma Coon of Mt. Zion, Sandra Luskin of Parma, Ohio, and Sheila Hardbarger of Elizabeth; two brothers, John Coon of Easton, Pa., and Bernard Coon of Mt. Zion; four sisters, Edna Dennis of Adair, Okla., Alice Metzel of Lafayette, Ohio, Ettie Coon of Cleveland and Daisy Donato of Mansfield, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Freddie Dean Coon, Jr.; two brothers, Gifford Coon and Holly Lee Coon; and one sister, Nancy McKown. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William D. Stutler officiating. Burial was in Coon cemetery, Kerby Ridge.
