DOUMONT, MARGARET

Margaret M. Doumont, 79, of Big Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Rural Valley, Pa. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Homemakers Club and was a former employee of Pennsylvania State Police Dept., Butler, Pa. Surviving are two sons, John M. Doumont of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert Doumont of Big Springs; two grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Doumont, in 1984. Graveside services were held at Nobe cemetery, with Rev. Don Tranel officiating.

DULEY, VIRGINIA

Virginia E. Duley, 86, of Parkersburg, formerly of Lower Run, Gilmer County, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at Willows Nursing Home, Parkersburg. She was born in Webster County and was a homemaker. Surviving are four daughters, Louise J. Riddle and Edna M. Dawson, both of Davisville, and Therala R. Midcap and Joyce Sue Ferrell, both of Parkersburg; two sons, Verl E. Duley of Parkers-burg and Ronald B. Duley of Williamstown; and several grand-children and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Duley, in 1998. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mike Worf officiating. Burial was in Yeager cemetery.

DYE, BETTY

Betty Z. Dye, 73, of Big Springs, died Friday, Apr. 9, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Big Springs, the daughter of the late Frank and Artie Cunningham Hardman. She was a member of Beech Valley United Methodist Church, Big Springs, and was a former grandmother at Pleasant Hill and Brooksville Elementary schools. Surviving are five sons, Gerald, Terry and Perry Dye, all of Big Springs, Larry Dye of Williamstown and Pat Dye of Five Forks; four sisters, Alta Richards of Georgia, Kate Richards of Big Springs and Armetta Schedell and Jean Smith, both of Ohio; three brothers, George Hardman of Grantsville, Ronzel Hardman of Mt. Zion and Tom Hardman, address unknown; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Dye, and one daughter, Rev. Phillis Dye. Services were held at Beech Valley United Methodist Church, Big Springs, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Big Springs cemetery.

EAGLE, GERNA

Gerna Maxine Eagle, 65, of Big Bend, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Ritchie County, the daughter of Lola Kirby of Big Springs and the late James Okey Kirby. She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church and attended Spruce Hollow Community Church and Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are one son, Gary R. Eagle of Big Bend; two grandsons, Christopher and David Eagle, both of Big Bend; four sisters, Mestil Richards of Harrisville, Colleen Gainer of Big Springs, Wanda Moore of Mogadore, Ohio, and Betty Wagoner of Big Bend; and two brothers, Dennis "Willard" Kirby and Glennis "Buck" Kirby, both of Big Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Basil A. Eagle. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Randy Wilson officiating. Burial was in Goodnight cemetery.

EAGLE, SAMANTHA

Samantha Mae Jones Eagle, 104, of Munday, died Tuesday, Apr. 20, 1999, at Roane General Hospital. She was born in Ritchie County, the daughter of the late James and Jane Johnston Kirby. She was a housewife. Surviving are three sons, Harley C. Jones of Leading Creek, Lee Jones of Big Bend and Willard Jones of Rio Linda, Calif.; three daughters, Alice Richards of Big Bend, Mary Jones of Leading Creek and Alma Lanham of Munday; three step-daughters, Ruth Dye of Big Springs, Oma Jean Williams of Big Bend and Wanda Miller of Cleveland, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John A. Jones in 1936, and her second husband, Carl Eagle, May 26, 1974; four infant children; nine step-children from her first marriage; five step- children from her second marriage; and six brothers and sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Goodnight cemetery, Big Bend.

EBERLE, LILLIAN S.

Lillian Stump Eberle, 83, of South Charleston, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a retired auditor from Kanawha County Board of Education and a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 73, Grantsville. Surviving are two daughters, Judith Stone of Kanawha City and Diana Bodkin of Point Pleasant; three sisters, Myla Fleming of Burnt House, Mildred Kirby of Mt. Zion and Wauneta Waters of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Austin Stump of Vincent, Ohio; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Eberle, and her parents. Services were held at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Rev. Wade Austin officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

ELDER, MURIEL

Muriel Elder, 84, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Apr. 7, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Anderson and Nola McFarland Belcher. She retired as a nurse's aide, having worked in Parkersburg area nursing homes. She was a resident of Parkersburg for 33 years and most recently resided in Calhoun County with her grandchildren, Brian and Seana Miller, who gave her loving care. Surviving are three sons, Bill Evans of LaPlace, La., Ray Evans of Parkersburg and Lee Evans of Arnoldsburg; two daughters, Verba Jean Cargill of Franklinton, La., and Margaret Sampson of Millstone; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Evans; her second husband, Hayward Elder; and one daughter, Aileen Panrell. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Paul Morton officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

ELLIOTT, HOWARD

Howard C. Elliott, 74, of Mineral Wells, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the late Shirley D. and Iva Dotson Elliott. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having been wounded in action in France, and was recently awarded the Liberation of France Medal from the French govern-ment in recognition of his service on France's 50th anniversary. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Bradenton, Fla., and Victory Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Helen Petty Elliott; one son, Warren Elliott of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Diane Founds of Glouster, Ohio; four sisters, Lucille Hoce and Doris Carder, both of Parkersburg, Marjorie Starcher of College Corner, Ohio, and Shirley Ann Berlin of Houston, Tex.; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Dailey and Marcella Garretson; one infant sister; and one grandson, Eric Founds. Services were held at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Worf officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Parkers-burg, with military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkers-burg.

ELMORE, OKEY

Okey C. Elmore, 69, of Mentor, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He was born in Clendenin, the son of the late Edward and Alice Webb Elmore. He lived at Amma until moving to Mentor 40 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a Mentor fireman for eight years, and a member of Masonic Lodge 28, Painesville, Ohio. He was an assembler at Tri-Delta Industries, Mentor, for eight years before retiring in 1999. He previously worked as a furnace operator at GE Tungsten Road Plant, Euclid, before retiring in 1990 with 38 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Grace E. Duskey Elmore; two daugh-ters, Mary Pearce of Mentor and Deborah Elmore of Painesville; two sons, Robert Elmore of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Michael Elmore of Mentor; two step- sons, Duane Schreckengost of Creston and Jack Schreckengost of Mentor; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Otis Elmore of East Cleve-land, Ohio, and Bill Elmore of Clendenin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Moore and Marie Elmore, and four brothers, Lomer, Otmer, Orville and Ord Elmore. Services were held at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Mentor. Burial was in Mentor cemetery.

ESTEP, BRENT

Brent Estep, 88, of Grantsville, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. He was born in Kanawha County. He was a retired plumber and member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #625 and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Louise Kerby Estep; two daughters, Betty Kirby of Charleston and Janet Davis of Grantsville; one brother, Robert Bickel of Ohio; three sisters, Euma Kickhart, Alpha Nichols and Lora Ashley, all of Ohio; four grandchildren, Robert Bailey of Grantsville, Rodney Davis of Charleston, S.C., Gregory Kirby of Parkersburg and Kris Kirby of Williamstown, Mass.; and two great- grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating, and burial in Mt. Zion cemetery.

FARRAR, WILLIAM

William E. Farrar, 54, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Apr. 28, 1999, at West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgan-town. He was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late R. Wade and Pauline Metz Farrar. He had attended Calhoun County High School, was a U.S. Army veteran, and was an employee of Hertz Rental Co., Parkersburg. Surviving are one son, Scott Farrar of Mechanicsville, Md.; two sisters, Betty Farrar of Glenville and Karen Mace of Chloe; one brother, Jim Farrar of Oswego, Ill.; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Randall Flannagin officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

FERRELL, LOUISE

Louise Ferrell, 90, of Akron, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Stalnaker and B.G. Stump. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Akron, Order of Eastern Star for over 70 years, and D.A.R. Surviving are three sons, Richard, Lewis and William; one sister, Eleanor Brannon; one brother, Bill Stump; eight grand-children; 13 great-grandchildren; and a friend, Mave Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Ferrell, and one daughter, Virginia. Private services were held at Dunn-Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Fairview Chapel, Akron, with Rev. Lynn Snider of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Burial Park.
