Gladys F. Jarvis, 85, of Belpre, Ohio, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at The Willows Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Bert and Clara Williams Fowler. She was a member of Mullen Memorial Baptist Church and Eastern Star Lodge #541, Belpre. Surviving are one son, Leroy Jarvis of Washington; two brothers, Leonard Fowler of Grantsville and Dolph Fowler of Vienna; and one grandson, Aaron Jarvis of Parkersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Jarvis; three brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Larry Hooper officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Leo Jarvis, 87, of Akron, Ohio, died Wednesday, Apr. 14, 1999, at his home after a short illness. He was born in West Virginia, the son of the late Calvin and Letha Harold Jarvis. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was retired from Mohawk Rubber Co., Akron. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Greensburg, Ohio. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Vera Keith Jarvis; four sons, Gary, Larry, Jerry and Terry; one daughter, Sherri; three sisters, Jessie Hicks of Chloe, Gladys Bradrock and Leona Nider; two brothers, Arnold and Dennis Jarvis; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Rogers officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Wadsworth, Ohio.

Melba Jarvis, 82, of Minnora, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Beech, the daughter of the late Roy and Lorah Mae Bailey Tucker. She was a member of Minnora United Methodist Church, Minnora, and was a homemaker. Surviving are one son, Larry D. Jarvis of Minnora; two daughters, Ruth Dawson of Arnoldsburg and Deborah A. Sears of Minnora; one sister, Orva Ellison of Melborne, Fla.; eight grand-children; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorse Jarvis. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

Nell Jarvis, 89, of Chloe, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Roane General Hospital, following a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late John and Sarah King Arnold. She was a member of Minnora United Methodist Church. Surviving are nine daughters, Nelma Stump and Hope Schoolcraft, both of Orma, Betty Smith, Jean Homes and Bernice McCullough, all of Mesa, Ariz., Helen Burns of Elizabeth, Alice Conley of Lynco, Donnie King of Ripley and Connie Rucker of Diamond; two sons, Bernard Jarvis of Chloe and Don Jarvis of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, James Arnold of Parkersburg; one sister, Maude Parsons of Mt. Zion; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Jarvis in 1987; one daughter, Kathy Jarvis; four brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Tim Hickman officiating. Burial was in Minnora Ceme-tery, Minnora.

Roy Brooks Jarvis, 92, of Grantsville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Price and Stella Ross Jarvis. He had been a farmer and had attended White Oak Baptist Church, Chloe. He was retired from W.Va. Dept. of Highways. Surviving are his wife, Dolly L. Gray Jarvis; two sons, Steve B. Jarvis of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Roger D. Jarvis of Grantsville; one sister, Murrel Brannon of Abingdon, Md.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clode Jarvis, Jennings Jarvis and Hoy Jarvis; and three sisters, Birda Conley, Bonnie Vanhorn and Willa Oles. Services will be held on Thursday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Harry Siers officiating. Burial will be in Minnora cemetery. Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ralph Johnson, 85, of Vienna, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Sunrise Care Center. He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Charles Wesley and Lulu Maude Norman Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired oil field worker, and attended Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Haven Johnson of Vienna; one grand-daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Johnson Kellmayer of Franklin Park, N.J.; two sisters, Eula Ritchie of Toledo, Ohio, and Velma Wicker of Brookpark, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Mae Kelley Johnson. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Douglas Wayne Jones, 19, of Davisville, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at his home. He was born in Wood County, the son of Paul Edward and Judy Williams Jones of Davisville. He was a 1999 graduate of Parkersburg High School, a former member of Eastwood Volunteer Fire Dept., and had planned to attend truck driving school in Tennessee. Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Richard Jones of Walker and Jeff Jones of Davidson, N.C.; paternal grandmother, Euleta Jones of Grantsville; one niece, Kaycee Jones of Walker; and one nephew, J.P. Cox of Walker. He was preceded in death by three infant brothers, Gregory, Rodney and Keith Jones; maternal grandparents, Charles and Millie Holbert; and paternal grandfather, Walter Jones. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Raymond Ray officiating, and burial in Big Bend cemetery, Big Bend.

Pauline Jones, 67, of Big Battle community, Salem, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Mac and Geraldine Taylor Richards. She was a member of Norman Ridge United Methodist Church, Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Post 9151, Salem, and Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles 2352, Clarksburg. Surviving are four daughters, Janet Parks of Parkersburg, Sharon Willehoite of Ocala, Fla., Anita Myers of Jarvisville and Bonnie Davis of Salem; two sons, Kenny Lee Jones of Salem and Kelvin Jones of Oxford; two brothers, Junior Mac Richards and Billie Richards, both of Grantsville; seven sisters, Rosie Davis, Goldie Richards, Isabelle Davis, Hazel Gribble, Loraine Pursley, Clara Richards and Margaret Wagoner, all of Grantsville; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford L. Jones in 1974, whom she married
on April 18, 1949; one sister, Irene Davis; and eight half-brothers and sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Saunders cemetery.

Linzy A. Justice, 91, of Reedy, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Elder Care, Ripley. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Joe and Virginia Morris Justice. He was the former owner of Justice General Store, Millstone, and former employee of B.F. Goodrich, Akron, Ohio. He was a member of Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church, Sand Ridge. Surviving are his wife, Mabel Justice; one sister, Mary Conley of Cleveland, Ohio; three step-sons, Ron Postalwait of Spencer, Charles Postalwait of New Orleans, La., and Tom Court-ney of Trinity, N.C.; and two step-daughters, Mary Parsons of Sequine, Tex., and Karen Courtney of Reedy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Jarvis Justice. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee and Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating, and burial in Sand Ridge cemetery, Sand Ridge.

Haymond Pell (Red) Kendall, 75, of Walker, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Holly and Delphia Bennett Kendall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korean War. He was retired from Corning Glass Co., Parkersburg, and member of Kites Run Methodist Church, Walker, and Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Rozetta Lavonne Boston Kendall; one son, Paul David Jenkins of Parkersburg; two daugh-ters, Linda Sinnett of Lyman, Wyoming, and Kitty L. Mullen of Walker; three brothers, Virgil Kendall of Sand Ridge, Frank Kendall of New Martinsville and Hatzel Kendall of Walker; one sister, Tessie Elliott of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudina Johnson Kendall, and three sisters, June Poling, Doshia Kendall and Verle Boone. Memorial services were held at Kites Run Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Cornell, Rev. Mike Kerns and Rev. Kenneth Welch officiating. Burial was to be at the convenience of the family at Shock cemetery, Rush Run.
