McCUNE, RAYMOND

Raymond McCune, 92, of Minnora, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Clay County, the son of the late Thomas and Minnie McCumbers McCune. He was retired from Mercer Alloy Co. of Pennsylvania and was a timberman. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Jane Wilson McCune; five daughters, Shirley McCune of Normantown, Velma Sexton of Orlando, Fla., Renee Parsons of Parkersburg, Sue McCune of Minnora and Jeanette Norman of Arnoldsburg; four sons, Burley McCune of Spencer, Joe McCune of Arnoldsburg, Jack McCune of Glenville and Cecil McCune of Normantown; and three sisters, Lake Wilson of Glenville and Stella Nicholas and Maxine Stump, both of Spencer. Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Bennie Fay McCune will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Run cemetery, Nicut. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

McGEORGE, NANCY

Nancy J. McGeorge, 97, of Walker Community, Chloe, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in Wadsworth, Ohio, following a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late William and Molly Carrico Jarvis and was a homemaker. She was a correspondent for The Calhoun Chronicle for most of her adult life. Surviving are one son, Freeman McGeorge, of Wadsworth, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther McGeorge, and one daughter, Inez McGeorge. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Don Dawson officiating, and burial in Cottrill cemetery, Oka.

McKOWN, EDWARD

Edward G. "Babe" McKown, 84, of Arnoldsburg, died Thurs-day, Sept. 23, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Isaac D. and Emily Starcher McKown. He was a founder and member of Arnoldsburg Community Church and was a retired supervisor for W.Va. Dept. of Highways in Calhoun County. He was a Calhoun County politician and served as chairman of many community development projects. Surviving are one daughter, Marie M. Nofs of Winchester, Va.; three sons, George D. McKown of Leachtown and Clarence and Charles McKown, both of Arnoldsburg; one sister, Goldie Hall of Pocatalico; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jewell Wayne McKown, and six brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Howard Nichols and Rev. Olive Swiney officiating. Burial was in Sand Ridge cemetery.

METZ, ILENE

Ilene Metz, 65, of Chloe, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division. She was born in Orma, the daughter of the late John and Lena Conrad Butler. She attended Walnut Memorial Church, Chloe, and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Charles Frank Metz; two sons, Kenneth L. Metz and Douglas M. Metz, both of Chloe; three daughters, Janice Marie See of Elmira and Shelley June Brown and Lori L. Cottrell, both of Chloe; one brother, Nolan Butler of Chloe; two sisters, Murilene Witt of Cocoa, Fla., and Norma Stuck of Charleston; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arlen Butler. Graveside services were held at Minnora cemetery with Rev. Walter Watkins officiating.

MILLER, GREENVILLE

Greenville Miller, 75, of South Charleston, died Friday, May 21, 1999, at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Division. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Homer and Ruie Hall Miller. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired weighmaster for Union Carbide Corp., Charleston, with 42 years of service. Surviving are one daughter, Veronica Pauley of South Charleston; one sister, Delphia Davisson of Minnora; three brothers, Oscar Miller of Minnora, Ottice Miller of Grantsville and Ezra Miller of Arnoldsburg; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Parsons, and one son, Roger Lee Miller. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

MINNEY, MARIE

Marie Minney, 59, of Barberton, Ohio, formerly of Orma, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Saul and Viola White McCune. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Audie Minney; one son, Richard Minney of Orrville, Ohio; one daughter, Debbie Daily of Canton, Ohio; three brothers, Cecil McCune of Bolivar, Ohio, Burl McCune of Cottageville, and Darrell McCune of Smithville, Ohio; seven sisters, Opal Summers of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Ocie McCune of Middleport, Ohio, Edna Conley and Daisey Shiflet, both of Stumptown, Hazel Miller of Shock, Pearl Cottrell of Pt. Marion, Pa., and Faye Richards of Spencer; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery, Orma.

MINNEY, RENNIE

Rennie L. Minney, 90, of Stumptown, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Parkview Healthcare Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Ethnie and Bertha Queen Adams. She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Gilda A. San Roman; three sons, Rev. Walter D. Minney and H. Randall Minney, both of Parkers-burg, and Roger A. King of Elizabeth; one brother, Myron Adams of Brookpart, Ohio; five sisters, Nina Snyder of Parkersburg, Freda Casto of Clarksburg, Lorena Jones of Sand Fork, Alta Hamman of Stowe, Ohio, and Bonnie Carson of Canton, Ohio; nine grand-children; one step- grandson; seven step-great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Leslie V. Minney; two sisters; and four brothers. Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Elder Mark Minney officiating, and burial in Elijhu Stump cemetery.

MOLLOHAN, DOY

Doy Mollohan, 77, of Chloe, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg. He was born at Floe, the son of the late Lee Mollohan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the 99th Infantry Division in Europe. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, Remagen and the Ruhr Pocket, and was a prisoner of war. He was a farmer. Surviving are one sister, Gae Rogers of Nebo, and one brother, Roy Mollohan of Nebo. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Darius Arnold officiating. Burial was in Sears cemetery, Nebo.

MOLLOHAN, ROBERT

Robert H. Mollohan, 89, former U.S. Congressman whose distinguished career as a West Virginia political and business leader spanned more than six decades, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Washington Hospital Center, following a battle against cancer. He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Robert P. and Edith Witt Mollohan. He began his years of public service in 1933 as a deputy collector of the U.S. Internal Revenue Bureau, Parkersburg. He served as chief of the Miscellaneous Tax Division and cashier from 1935-38. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1952, and was a member of the 83rd, 84th, and 91st congresses. Following his retirement from Congress in 1982, he pursued a number of business ventures in northern West Virginia. Surviving are his wife, Helen Holt Mollohan, whom he married in 1931; three children, Robert Holt of Grafton, Kathryn Nelson of Falls Church, Va., and Congressman Alan B. Mollohan of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Fairmont, with Rev. James B. Johnson officiating. Burial was in Otterbein cemetery, Glenville.

MOORE, HILDA

Hilda Moore, 65, of Chloe, died Thursday, Apr. 8, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Grover and Rebecca Green Flinn. She was a former employee of Norris Industries, Spencer. Surviving are three sons, Ronald Cross of Orrville, Ohio, Floyd Cross of Chloe and Gary Flinn of Apple Creek, Ohio; three daughters, Wanda Davisson of Chloe, Connie Beers of Masury, Ohio, and Betty Westfall of Orma; three sisters, Maxine Flinn and Lou Norman, both of Grantsville, and Madeline Wines of Florida; one brother, Ralph Flinn of Chloe; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jeff Moore; one brother, Howard Flinn; and one daughter, Garnet Cross. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Elder Mike Richardson officiating. Burial was in Coen cemetery, Nebo.

MORRIS, DONALD

Donald Wilson Morris, 83, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at his residence from an extended illness. He was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Calhoun County, the son of the late L.J. and Edith Marshall Morris. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and West Virginia University School of Mining Engineering in June, 1939, as a registered oil and gas engineer. He was active in 4- H and received the 4-H All-Star Award. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp, being discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a C-47 pilot in a group that led the glider invasion of France on D-Day. He participated in five major campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne and the crossing of the Rhine. He was commanding officer of the Seventy-first Troop Carrying Squadron and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Presidential Unit Citation for the invasion of Normandy. He owned and operated Morris Oil and Gas Co., Grantsville, for 45 years. During that time, he also served as president and general manager of Calhoun Super Service, a franchised Ford dealership, for 36 years. He was a former president of Calhoun County Bank and owned and operated two beef farms. His community involvement included a term on the Calhoun County Commission. He helped to establish Calhoun General Hospital, now Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. He was chairman of the building committee for the new sanctuary at the First Baptist Church in 1962 and was part of a committee that approached Congress to support the building of the Burnsville Dam for flood control on the Little Kanawha River. Surviving are three children, Richard J. Morris and wife Jennifer of Grantsville, Jane Carpenter and husband Ronald of Grantsville and Donna Maxwell and husband Steven of Clarks-burg; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Carl R. Morris of Grantsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Burke Morris, whom he married July 17, 1945; and one sister, Bernice Stamp. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. William Taylor officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery. Arrangements were made by Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Memorial donations may be made to Calhoun County Library or Calhoun Historical Society.

MORRISON, BLONDENA

Blondena Anderson Morrison, 82, of Craigsville, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at her residence. She was born in Reedy, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Clara Amanda Burrows Anderson. She was a homemaker, a member of Millstone Church of Christ and attended Craigsville Church of Christ. Surviving are one son, J.P. Morrison of Parkersburg; one daughter, Eloise Mullens of Craigsville; one brother, Lewis Metz of Vienna; two sisters, Sara Burrows and Arminda Maxwell, both of Vienna; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several step- grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Morrison; three brothers; four step-daughters; four step-sons; and two sisters, Flossie Newhart and Sudie Harris. Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., in conjunction with her brother, Daniel Anderson, at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday.
