POTTS, ROY B. JR.

Roy B. Potts, Jr., 50, of Arnoldsburg died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville, following a sudden illness. He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Roy B. Potts, Sr. and Georgie L. Helton Potts. He was an employee of Key Energy Company of Arnoldsburg and he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Donna J. Summerville Potts; one son, Daniel G. Potts of Huntington; three step-sons, Anthony, Gregory and Christopher Browning of Arnoldsburg; one step-daughter, Jessica Browning of Arnoldsburg; and two brothers, John Potts of Jackson County and David Potts of Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Anita K. Carter Potts. Services will be held Friday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday.

POWELL, SADIE LUCILLE

Sadie Lucille Powell, 86, of LeRoy, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Jackson General Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Jerry and Matilda McDonald Yost. She was a member of Akron Baptist Temple and attended Open Bible Church, Ripley. Surviving are one son, William Jerry "Buck" Perkins of Akron, Ohio; one daughter, Shirley Morris of Leroy; one sister, Wavelene Arnold of Parkersburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Orville Jay Perkins and Burl Kermit Powell; two daughters, Connie Tate and Sharon Perkins; one son, Orville Wayne Perkins; three sisters, Annie Vaughn, Ellen Weisman and Dealie Santy; and four brothers, Tom Yost, Henry Yost, Theodore Yost and Fountain Yost. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Walker United Methodist Church with Pastor Benjamin Skeen officiating, and burial in Yost cemetery. Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to service.

PRICE, VERE

Vere Price, 88, of Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Roane General Hospital, following a long illness. He was born at Altizer, the son of the late Dow and Minnie Anderson Price. He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II and was a former assessor of Calhoun County for eight years. He was a farmer and a member of Stoney Point United Methodist Church, Arnoldsburg. Surviving are his wife, Murell Nitz Price; one son, Loren Price of Arnoldsburg; and three grandchildren, Douglas Price of Arnoldsburg, and Dennis Price and Vickie Richards, both of Elizabeth. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Gary Bowen officiating. Burial was in Husk cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

REALE, PATRICK

Patrick V. Reale, 83, of Glenville, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Sunrise Care and Rehabilitation Center, Glenville, after a long illness. He was a retired Army veteran with 35 years of service, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He was a member of VFW, DAV, American Legion and 230th MP Unit in Calhoun County. He was a retired businessman in Glenville, having owned and operated Modern Dry Cleaners for 30 years, and was a former fire chief and past president of Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Dept., and member of Rotary Club and Trinity United Methodist Church, Glenville. Surviving are his wife, Lenita Casto Reale; one son, Philip A. Reale of Glenville; four daughters, Margherita Price of Ventor City, N.J., Victoria "Vicky" Glass of San Antonio, Tex., Susan Chapman of Glenville and Mary Roseann Thompson of Charles-ton; step-mother, Anna Reale Scawthorn of San Diego, Calif.; step-sister, Carim Ludwig of New York City; one brother, Frank of San Diego; four sisters, Grace Gerome and Yolonda Pileggi, both of Atlantic City, N.J., Mary Pileggi of Ventor City and Adaline Garcia of San Diego; and nine grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Ellyson Mortuary, Glenville, with Rev. Michael Ford officiating, and burial in Meadow Lane cemetery, Glenville.

REDDICK, DEIDRE LYNN

Deidre Lynn Reddick, 37, of Grantsville, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Charleston Area Medical Center, General Division. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Judith M. Yoak of Nobe and the late Bill Dawson. Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Jasmine and Rochelle Reddick of Grantsville; one sister, Kelly Grogg of Nobe; one niece, Danille Grogg of Nobe; and one nephew, Isaac Grogg of Nobe. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Cocoe Dawson, and maternal grandparents, Carlos and Mary Wilson. Open memorial services were scheduled Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the eulogy from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Pleasant Hill U.M. Church.

REED, NELLIE M.

Nellie M. Reed, 89, of Millstone, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer. She was born in Braxton County, a daughter of the late James P. and Florence K. Santa Hardway. She was a member of the Stoney Point United Methodist Church at Arnoldsburg and was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, James Reed of Millstone, Alvin Reed and Carry Reed, both of Parkersburg; two daughters, Brooksene Kerby of Millstone and Judith M. Price of Elizabeth; two brothers, Gene Hardway of Mt. Zion and Carroll Hardway of Nicut; three sisters, Irene Lambert and Hallie Lambert, both of Strange Creek, W. Va., and Glennis Carter of Nicut; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carry F. Reed; one son, Larry Reed; two brothers, Brooks and Casto Hardway; and one grandchild, Bradley Kerby. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Revs. Gary Bowen and Brent Reed officiating. Burial in the Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery.

REYNOLDS, JILL RENAE

Jill Renae Reynolds, 23, of Gandeeville, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at home. She was born in Spencer, the daughter of Elmer and Faye Starcher Wagoner of Sand Ridge. She was a homemaker and a 1993 graduate of Calhoun County High School. Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Rodney Reynolds; one son, Rodney E. Reynolds of the home; and maternal grandmother, Edna Starcher of Spencer. She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Doyle Starcher, and paternal grandparents, Elza and Myra Wagoner. Services were held at Mt. Herman Church, Harmony, with Rev. Sinnett Summers officiating. Burial was in Mt. Herman cemetery.

RICHARDS, CALVIN

Calvin D. Richards, 62, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Lester and Ruth Wilson Richards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Grantsville VFW Post 5959. Surviving are his wife, Linda Richards; four sons, Jack Richards of Warren, Ohio, and Kenny, Buddy and Danny Richards, all of Cleveland; five daughters, Tanya, Ruthie, Annie and Donna, all of Cleveland, and Denna Sibug of Salem, Ohio; two sisters, Elmo Ball of Nobe and Luellen French of Paris, Tenn.; two brothers, Jim Richards of Walker and Kenny Richards of Pikeville, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Spruce Hollow Community Church, near Big Bend, with Rev. Lawson Whipkey officiating. Burial was in Taylor cemetery, near Big Bend.

RICHARDS, DONZEL

Donzel Gene Richards, 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at his home in Madrid, Spain. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Walter and Edna Richards of Big Springs. He was a 1958 graduate of Calhoun County High School and was a member of the U.S. Force for 23 years. Surviving are his wife, Rosa; one daughter, Edna of Madrid; two sons, Walter and Pepe, both of Madrid; three sisters, Ruby Mathers of Brentwood, Md., Yvonne Collins of Big Springs and Melbadene Sims of Cox's Mills; one brother, Cecil Richards of New London, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Edna, Jessica, Walter, Jr., and Vanessa. He was preceded in death by six brothers, twin Ronzel, Gail, Elmer, Ernest, Forest and Charles, and one sister, Shirley Ann Cox. He was cremated and buried in Spain. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

RICHARDS, ROBERT

Robert F. "Bud" Richards, 80, of Harrisville, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Thomas H. and Bertha Metz Richards. He was a retired mechanic from W.Va. Dept. of Highways in Ritchie County and also owned and operated Richards Tire Recapping, Harrisville. He was a member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Harrisville. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mestil L. Kirby Richards; three sons, Steve Richards of Harrisville, Larry Richards of Walker and Ray O. Richards of Portsmouth, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Steve Richards and Rev. Robert Bowsman officiating. Burial was in Fluharty cemetery, near Big Springs.

RICHARDS, ROBERT JACK

Robert Jack Richards, 63, of Big Springs, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Clelle and Georgie Wilson Richards. Surviving are his wife, Mary Richards; four daughters, Jackie Lynn Ferguson of Marble Head, Ohio, Pam Cottle of Aurora, Ohio, Candi Harbie of Deland, Fla., and Kelly Barnard of Mantua, Ohio; one step-daughter, Pam Davis of Big Bend; two step-sons, Teddy Holbert of Big Bend and Billy Holbert of Big Springs; one brother, Eugene Richards of Big Springs; one sister, Helen Murphy of Brohard; 10 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Nobe cemetery.

RICHARDSON, JOHN

John L. Richardson, 82, of Cox's Mills, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Weston. He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late John and Lena Phillips Richardson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Columbia Gas Co. He was a member of Liberty Missions Baptist Church, Arnoldsburg. Surviving are his wife, Florence Raines Richardson; three sons, John E. and Michael Richardson, both of Spencer, and Larry Richardson of Forrest Grove, Oregon; two daughters, Carol Staats of Walton and Marion Utt of Fairmont; one brother, H. Earl Richardson of LaGrange, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and James Paul Richardson, and two sisters, Mary Vannoy and Gladys Allen Higgenbotham. Services will be held on Friday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Clover cemetery, Roane County. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

RIGGS, GARNET

Garnet B. Riggs, 73, of Joker, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late W.B. and Fannie Campbell Riggs. She was a member of Bryner Chapel U.M. Church near Mt. Zion. Surviving are one son, Wayne Riggs of Mt. Zion; one sister, Janet Harris McIntyre of Big Bend; two brothers, Bill Riggs of Coshocton, Ohio, and Verlin Riggs of Little Hocking, Ohio; and one grandson, Jeffrey Riggs of Mt. Zion. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William D. Stutler officiating, and burial in Bryner Chapel Church cemetery.
