SHRADER, WILMA 9/2/1999 Wilma J. Shrader, 63, of Creston, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at The Arbors of Marietta, Ohio. She was born in Creston, the daughter of Nora Mowery Tucker of Creston and the late Roscoe Tucker. She was a 1954 graduate of Wirt County High School and attended Creston United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Jimmy E. Shrader; two sons, Jimmy "Ed" Shrader of Parkersburg and Danny D. Shrader of Linwood, N.C.; one daughter, Janimae Browning of Creston; one brother, Ronnie Tucker of Parkersburg; and one granddaughter, Sierra Browning of Creston. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in McCray cemetery, Creston.

SIERS, EDSEL R.

Edsel R. Siers, 57, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at home. He was born in Minnora, the son of the late Ermine and Mildred White Siers. He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Siers; one son, Jeffrey Siers of Arnoldsburg; two sisters, Juanita Shaffer of Cleveland, Ohio, and Sharon Hendrickson of St. Clairsville, Ohio; five brothers, Dwain Siers of Cleveland, Kenneth Siers of Grantsville, Eugene Siers of Charlotte, N.C., Gail Siers of Parkersburg and Denny Siers of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; four half-sisters, Shirley Allen of Monclova, Ohio, Rebecca Whitlock of Powellton, and Linda Peck and Barbara Wease, both of Grantsville; his step-mother, June Siers of Grantsville; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Deanne Siers of Arnoldsburg; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Siers of Arnoldsburg. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Siers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

SIERS, FREDA

Freda Siers, 88, of Statesville, N.C., died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Davis Medical Center, Statesville. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Perry G. and Dolly Starcher DeWeese. She was a member of Minnora Rebekah Lodge #8 and was a homemaker. Surviving are seven daughters, Mae Grimm of Vienna, Mavis Hoover of Parkersburg, Gladys Moss and Annalee Walker, both of Statesville, Betty Jo Junk of Coco, Fla., and Penny McCune and Ruth Cottrell, both of Orrville, Ohio; four sons, Donald Ray Siers and Tom Siers, both of Statesville, Kenneth Siers of Minnora and Rector Siers of Belpre; one sister, Ruby Predmore of Tucson, Ariz.; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon B. Siers; seven sisters; two brothers; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating, and burial in Minnora cemetery.

SIMS, DAISY

Daisy M. Sims, 90, of Smithville, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, in SunBridge Health Care Center, Glenville. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Clarabelle Richards Holbert. She had been a member of Spruce Hollow Community Church for 35 years. Surviving are one daughter, Helen Wilson of Smithville; one step- daughter, Bonnie Buck of Big Bend; five step-sons, Jimmy Sims and Fred Sims, both of Big bend, Billy Sims of Ohio, Rick Sims of Troy and Denver Sims of Brohard; five grandchildren; 23 step- grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Sims, Sr., and three step-sons, Harold, Junior and Eugene Sims. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Spruce Hollow Community Church with Rev. Harvey Greathouse officiating, and burial in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend.

SIMS, ERNEST EUGENE

Ernest Eugene Sims, 70, of Kirtland, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, Ohio, following a long illness. He was born in Big Bend, the son of the late Walker P. and Arizona Richards Sims. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952-1954 and was retired from SIFCO Industries. Surviving are his wife, Margie Wagoner Sims; one daughter, Connie Sims of Kirtland; five brothers, Denver, Freddie, Billy, Richard and James Sims; and one sister, Bonnie Buck. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Sims, Walker P. Sims, Jr., and Willis Sims, and one sister, Francis. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Daniel Wood officiating. Burial was in Wagoner cemetery, Big Bend.

SIMS, MANDIE

Mandie Sims, 85, of Parkersburg, died Monday, July 12, 1999, in Parkview Healthcare Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late John and Emma Lona Parsons. She was a homemaker and a Christian. Surviving are one daughter, Christine Wallace of Parkers-burg; one sister, Dola Nicholas of Orma; 14 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gilbert Sims; four sisters; and two brothers. Services were held at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Perry Stewart officiating. Burial was in Clark Jarvis cemetery, Chloe.

SLIDER, RUTH

Ruth Slider, 75, of Mt. Zion, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Callie Lincus Hyatt. She was a Christian. Surviving are six sons, Kalvin Wood of Florida, Robert Wood of Normantown, Louis D. Slider of Mt. Zion, Charles C. Slider of Elkview, Tommy Slider of Mt. Zion and Steve J. Slider of Chapmanville; seven daughters, Twila Montgomery of Mt. Zion, Tammy Rader of Mt. Zion, Brenda Brown of Grantsville, Sharon Walbrown of Sissonville, Carolyn Greenlief of Glenville, Debbie Wood of Spencer and Jacqueline Shimer of Grantsville; four brothers, Harry Hyatt of Chicago, Ill., Bobby Hyatt of Princeton, Jimmy Hyatt and Bill Hyatt; two sisters, Lena Willis of Ohio and Mae Thompson of Virginia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Bailey and Drewcilla Hyatt. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating, and burial in Slider cemetery, Barnes Run.

SMITH, ALVIN

Alvin Smith, 63, of Nebo, died Saturday, June 19, 1999. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late James and Mary Barr Smith. Surviving are one brother, Roger Smith of Mt. Zion, and two sisters, Emma Brake of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jerl Smith of Spencer. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Mt. Zion cemetery. Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to services.

SMITH, MARY

Mary E. Smith, 71, of Spencer, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Roane General Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Orus K. and Laura Whytsell Price. She retired as a bookkeeper for Hardman's Home Center after 25 years of service. She attended Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Joseph A. Smith, Jr.; one daughter, Joetta Clarkson of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, June M. Hall of Arnoldsburg; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles S. Price. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Loren Price and Rev. Mike King officiating. Burial was in Eventide cemetery.

SNIDER, FLORENCE

Florence C. Snider, 94, of Elizabeth, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Heartland of Preston County, Kingwood. She was born in Big Bend, the daughter of the late Thornton C. and Molly Thomas Cain. She was a longtime member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Mary Elizabeth Circle and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a 55-year member and past matron of Wirt Chapter 113, Order of Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. Surviving are two sons, William Richard Snider of Kingwood and Edwin Cain Snider of Elizabeth; one daughter, Eleanor S. Sims of Kingwood; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Merrell Snider in 1981; four brothers, one sister, and one grandson. Services were held at Elizabeth U.M. Church, with Rev. David A. Stackpole and Rev. Casey Stinespring officiating. Burial was in Pythias cemetery, Elizabeth.

SNIDER, RUTH E. MAZE

Ruth E. Maze Snider, 94, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born near Industry in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Mettie J. Garrison Maze. She was a member of Seventh Street United Methodist Church, Parkersburg for nearly 65 years. She assisted her late husband in the operation of Snider Plumbing and Heating Co. for more than 30 years. Surviving are one son, Basil Snider, Jr. of Midlothian, Va.; one half-sister, Willa Mae Maze Martin of South Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; and seven great-grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil M. Snider; her stepmother, Lona Coberly Maze; two sisters, Edith Cutright and Bernadine Locke; and two brothers, Joseph and Paul Maze. Services were held at the Seventh Street United Methodist Church, with pastors Steve Rhoades and her nephew, Pastor Dr. William Snider, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

SNIDER, WILLIAM RICHARD

William Richard Snider, 71, of Kingwood, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg. He was born in Freed, the son of the late Merrell and Florence Cain Snider. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army and was a retired general contractor and master electrician. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local #604, Wirt County Lodge #82, AF&AM, and Kingwood Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Norma Wotring Snider; one son, G. Fredric Snider of Morgantown; one brother, Cain Snider of Elizabeth; one sister, Eleanor Sims of Kingwood; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one nephew, Tim Sims. Services were held at Kingwood Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Whaley officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military graveside services conducted by Preston County VFWs.

STALNAKER, CLARKSON "BEE"

Clarkson "Bee" Stalnaker, 71, of Harrisville, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Minnora, the son of the late Clark L. and Nora Hughes Stalnaker. He graduated from Calhoun County High School and worked for Union Carbide, Sistersville, for 18 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Harrisville, Harrisville IOOF Lodge #99, Hope Rebekah Lodge #30, and Harrisville Lions Club. Surviving are his wife, Opah Moore Stalnaker; one brother, James Stalnaker of Spencer; four sisters, Emma Peel of Minnora, Brunna Penman of Mesa, Ariz.; Juanita Shoirb of Tucson, Ariz., and Naomi Sims of Waterloo, S.C. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fenton, Euell and Eukel Stalnaker; and one sister, Eopha Jones. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Eileen Schneider officiating. Burial was in Harrisville IOOF cemetery.
