William R. "Bill" Vincent, 53, of Akron, Ohio, died Friday, Apr. 16, 1999. He was born in West Virginia and resided most of his life in the Akron area. He was a self-employed auto mechanic. Surviving are his mother, Edna Vincent of Orlando, Fla.; one son, Ronald of Meigs County; one daughter, LaVonne Vincent of Akron; five grandchildren, Alisa, Ty, Ronald, Kaitlyn and Randy; one brother, Nelson Vincent of Orlando; five sisters, Phyllis Simmons of Akron, Mary Taylor and Cathy Quiroscbrera, both of Orlando, and Joyce Wonn and Sue Vincent, both of Sarasota, Fla.; and a girlfriend, Barbara Gump of Akron. Services were held at Hopkins-Lawver Funeral Home, Akron, and services were also held and burial was in Lamb cemetery, near Chloe.
WAGONER, ELZA
Elza Wagoner, 90, of Sand Ridge, died Thursday, Mar. 18, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late George and Elizabeth Starcher Wagoner. He was a farmer. Surviving are one daughter, Susan Davidson of Davisville; three sons, Elmer and Gene Wagoner, both of Sand Ridge, and Ray Wagoner of Sutton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Sapp Wagoner; second wife, Myra Midcap Wagoner; one infant daughter; two brothers; and three sisters. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Jim Midcap officiating. Burial was in Husk cemetery near Arnoldsburg.
WAYNE, EUGENE
Eugene H. Wayne, 70, of Taylorsville, Ky., died Wednesday, Mar. 24, 1999, at Thomas Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, Ky. He was born in Taylor County. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a retired shipping clerk from Girdler and Tube Turns with 36 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Eloise Griffin Wayne; one daughter, Patricia Langley; two sisters, Katherine Walker and Bonnie Diehl; and two grandsons, Adam and Matthew Langley, who cared for him. Services were held at Rutterman and Sons Funeral Home, Louisville, Ky. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington, Ky. Memorial gifts suggested to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association.
WEASE, RALPH
Ralph D. Wease, 66, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Mar. 22, 1999, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in White Pine, the son of the late Claude R. and Anna B. Maloney Wease. He was a 1952 graduate of Calhoun County High School and received the Curtis P. Arts football award. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and worked for Marbon Chemical, now G.E. Plastics. He was a lifetime member of National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Levata L. Mills Wease of Parkersburg; two sons, Kevin W. Wease of Annamoriah and Rodney G. Wease of Parkersburg; two brothers, Don and Clyde Wease, both of Melbourne, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Amber, Michael and Larry Wease. He was preceded in death by one sister, Claudine Wease, and three brothers, Darrell, Austin and Jimmy. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Ronzel H. Weekley, 79, of Barberton, Ohio, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, in Doylestown Health Care Center. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Weekley; two sisters, Zella Brown of Parkersburg and Ruth Stemple of Walker; one brother, Edgar Weekley of Grantsville; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Orma United Methodist Church.
WELLS, BERTHA
Bertha Wells, 88, of Creston, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Mattie Villers Arthur. She was a member of Creston United Methodist Church and was a home-maker. Surviving is one sister, Laura Meadows of Parkersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Wells; four brothers, Herbert Arthur, John Arthur, Louie Arthur and Ira Arthur; and four sisters, Hazel Cain, Ella Buck, Ola Wilson and Ollie Boise. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Cooper cemetery, Creston.
WELLS, MARY
Mary A. Wells, 93, of Terra Alta, formerly of Grantsville, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Preston Memorial Hospital, Kingwood. She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Charles G. and Marsella F. Baker Wells. She was a housekeeper for families and businesses in Grantsville for many years, and former carrier for the Grit newspaper. She was a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, Grantsville. Surviving is one brother, James Wells of Chicago, Ill. Services were scheduled Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Sycamore cemetery. Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to services.

James A. West, 71, of Nebo, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Clay County, the son of the late Alexander and Addie Pearl Tanner West. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW Post #4419, Clay. Surviving are two sons, James E. and John M. West, both of Hope, Ark.; one daughter, Cynthia C. Cottrell of Nebo; two brothers, Edward West of Tallmage, Ohio, and Homer West of Deerfield, Ohio; five sisters, Ota Cardie of Ohio, Bertha Howard of Tennessee, Ruby Starcher of Nebo, Ollie Gibson of Akron, Ohio, and.Delsie Priddy of Clearwater, Fla., and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Lee West, and one infant sister, Emma Elizabeth West. Services were held at Unity Gospel Tabernacle Church, Nebo, with Rev. Dewey Tanner officiating. Burial was in Coen cemetery, Nebo.

Hayward P. Whipkey, 70, of Big Springs, died Thursday, Mar. 4, 1999. He was born in Calhoun County, and retired from Ryerson Steel, Cleveland. He was a Korean War veteran. Surviving are one son, Ronald of the home; one sister, Oma Sears of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Kester Whipkey of Mineral Wells and Leonard Whipkey of Arkansas; four grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Rev. Gene Hutton officiating. Burial was in Nobe cemetery.

Kester "Ted" W. Whipkey, 78, of Mineral Wells, formerly of Grantsville, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Casper and Gerdie Fredrick Whipkey. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and retired from Acme Fishing Tool Co., Parkersburg. He was a member of Celebration Center, Belpre. Surviving are two daughters, Anita Martinez of Mineral Wells and Oma Rhodes of Parkersburg; two brothers, Leonard of Arkansas and Richard "Bud" of Georgia; one sister, Oma Siers of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elesta M. Whipkey; three brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Pastor Tony Atkinson and Pastor Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, Nobe.

Roxie Whipkey, 83, of Harrisville, died Friday, Mar. 26, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Franklin and Florence Murphy Radabaugh. She was retired from Fisher Body Co., Cleveland, Ohio, with 25 years of service. She was a member of Chapel Baptist Church, Nobe. Surviving are two daughters, Roxine Alberta Fisk of Newark, Ohio, and Rachel Racela of Cleveland, Ohio; one son, Albert M. Whipkey of Bay Village, Ohio; one sister, Chloe Roberts of Harrisville; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Whipkey; one son, Donald C. Whipkey; and one daughter, Donna Jean Hartshorn. Services were held at Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Alfred Hickman and Rev. Fred Basnett, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Nobe cemetery.
WHITE, ARCHIE RAY
Archie Ray White, 71, of Wilmer, Ala., died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in a Wilmer hospital after a short illness. He was born in Arnoldsburg, the son of the late Earl and Ruby White. He was retired from Massillon Steel Casting, Massillon, Ohio, with over 25 years service. Surviving are three daughters, Genevieve Westmoreland and Margaret Scranton, both of Wilmer, and Martha Lehmiller of Conneautville, Pa.; one step-son, Terry Shaw of Mobile, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Charles of Mantua, Ohio, and Nelson of Remington, Ind.; two sisters, Doris Reynolds of Grantsville and Janieve of Amboy, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews in the Calhoun area. Services and burial were in Alabama.
