Noble G. Busch, 86, of Brohard, died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born at Freed, a son of the late French Brown and Ellen Snider Busch. He was a former employee of Pennzoil Co. for 32 years and a contractor for Consolidated Oil and Gas Co. where he retired in 1974. He was founder and operator of Busch Inc. and was an independent oil producer for many years. He was a 54-year member and past master of Burning Springs Lodge #132, AF&AM, and a member of Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Park-ersburg, Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, and Grantsville Chapter #73, Order of Eastern Star. During the 1950's, he served on the Wirt County Board of Education and served more than 20 years on the board of directors of Wirt County Bank and Wesbanco Bank. He served as executive president of Wirt County Bank and was a former emergency medical technician and charter member of Wirt County Emergency Services. He was a member of Strait Creek Baptist Church and a philanthropist. Surviving are three sons, Dr. Trent Busch of Valdosta, Ga., Rodney Busch of Richmond, Va., and Kendall Busch of Brohard; one daughter, Judith Maxwell of Stuarts Draft, Va.; one sister, Opal Lemasters Sims of Brohard; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Delta Davis Busch, in 1997; four brothers, William Robert Busch, John Blaine (Jack) Busch, Glen Roscoe Busch and Fred Brown Busch; and one sister, Chessie Alta Robinson. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Lewis J. Villers and Rev. Dr. William P. Snider officiating. Burial was in Hartley cemetery with Masonic graveside honors by Burning Springs Lodge #132.
BUSH, CARLA A.
Carla A. Bush, 32, of Randleman, N.C., formerly of Weston, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, in University of North Carolina Medical Center, Chapel Hill, N.C., following a life long illness. Surviving are her parents, Jack and Pat Bush of Jane Lew; two sisters, Fonda Bean and Deanna Bush, both of Weston; one brother, Jeffrey Lee Bush, U.S. Marine Corps, Parris Island, S.C.; and maternal grandmother, Rose Mary Roberts of Parkersburg. She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Sharon Kay Thompson Bush, on April 22, 1972. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Joe Busch officiating. Burial was in Enon cemetery.

Madeline Butler, 67, of Orma, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at home following a long illness.She was born in Orma. She was an AFC provider with the Dept. of Health and Human Services. Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Settles of Orma; one son, Edwin Butler of Orrville, Ohio; one sister, Audra Curtiss of Parkersburg; and one brother, Everett Wears of Port Clinton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert Wears and Delbert Wears. Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Orma Methodist Church, Orma, with Rev. Kevin Church officiating. Burial will be in Orma cemetery. Visitation was scheduled at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, 6 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday.

Victor Butler, 73, of Orma, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Aristotle and Mary Cottrell Butler. He was retired from Monarch Rubber Co., Spencer. He was a member of Orma United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Madeline Wears Butler; one son, Edwin Butler of Orrville, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon Settle of Orma; three sisters, Nina Conley of Orma, Macel Carpenter of Spencer and Louisa Yearian of Delaware; four brothers, Aristotle Butler, Jr., of Orma, Charlie Butler of Reedy, Tom Butler of North Carolina and Milton Butler of Washington; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Services were held at Orma United Methodist Church, Orma. Burial was in Orma cemetery.

Eris F. Cain, 75, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late James Kenny and Elva Wyoma Starcher Greathouse. She was a former employee of Rubber Crafters and B.F. Goodrich companies, Grantsville. She attended Victory Baptist Church, near Grantsville. Surviving are three daughters, Gertrude Bunner of Brohard, Earlene Tony of Munday and Patricia Groves of Parkersburg; one son, Johnny Cain of Parkersburg; one sister, Maxine Alvis of Spencer; 23 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie R. Cain, in 1993; one son, Jimmy Cain; five grandchildren; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Hur cemetery, near Mt. Zion.

Ivah B. Campbell, 94, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Orma, a daughter of the late Weaver H. and Ollie Spencer Brannon. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and Glenville State College, and retired after teaching elementary school for 45 years in Calhoun and Wood counties, she was a member of NRTA, W.Va. Association and Wood County Association of Retired School Employees, Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary school teacher sorority, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Parkersburg. Surviving are one sister, Stella Chenoweth of Parkersburg; two step- daughters, Marilynn Lindamood of Columbus, Ohio, and Joan Butler of Camp Hill, Pa.; two step-sons, Bill Campbell of Hawaii and New Zealand and James Campbell of Charlottesville, Va.; and several step- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and caregivers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Campbell, in 1966; two brothers, Ottice and Selden Brannon; and two sisters, Elva Poling Kerby and Mae Offutt. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Paul Stadelman officiating, and at Orma cemetery, Orma.
CAMPBELL, OKEY J.
Okey J. Campbell, 92, of Creston, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born at Creston, the son of the late Allen and Delia Garretson Campbell. He was a retired oil field worker and served as superintendent of Wirt County division of W.Va. Dept. of Highways. He was a 62-year member of Burning Springs Lodge #132, AF&AM, and 51- year member of Wheeling Scottish Rite Bodies and Nemesis Temple of the Shrine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are one brother, Glenn W. Campbell of Creston, and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Jenkins Campbell; two brothers, Boyd Campbell and Orland Campbel ; and one sister, Faye Berry. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Gladson Grimm officiating. Burial was in McCray cemetery, Creston, with military graveside honors by American Legion Post #55, Elizabeth, and Masonic rites by Burning Springs Lodge #132.

Audra R. Carpenter, 85, of Grantsville died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Roane County, the daughter of the late Harrison and Ivy Mae Mace Starcher. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and canning, and was a member of Seventh Day Advent Church, Spencer. Surviving are one son, Victor Leon Carpenter of Cremo; three step- daughters, Velma Kirby of Bellesville, Erma Starcher of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Mildred Denney of Michigan; five daughters, Eloise Nichols of Spencer, Barbara Nichols of Stow, Ohio, Bessie Merrill of Northfield, Ohio, Daisy May Yoak of Grantsville and Linda Kincaid of Scarbro; one brother, William Starcher of Northfield; 31 grandchildren; and several great-grand-children and great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Slathiel Charles Carpenter; two sons, Gene and Kenneth Carpenter; two daughters, Diane and Carolyn Lou Carpenter; one step-daughter, Alma Conley; one step-son, Harry Carpenter; two brothers, Gordy and Walter Starcher; and one sister, Lodie Starcher. Services were held at Seventh Day Advent Church, Spencer, with Pastor Herb Ingersol, Pastor Bill Dull and Pastor Walter Fry officiating. Burial was in Starcher cemetery, near Arnoldsburg.

Amy Carter, 97, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, following a brief illness. She was born in Braxton County, and was a homemaker and a member of Elmira Missionary Baptist Church, Elmira. Surviving are three daughters, Neva Kendall of Nicut, Nelma Wimer of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Larene Weekley of Grantsville; one son, William H. and Eleanor Carter of Barberton, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William R. Carter, in 1983. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Elmira cemetery, Elmira.

Edna F. Carter, 81, of Vienna, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in White Oak, the daughter of the late Huey and Victoria Justice Morris. He was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Parkersburg. Surviving are one daughter, Waneta Drake of Vienna, with whom she resided; one son, Johnny L. Carter of Winchester, Ohio; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grand-children; and her caregiver, Velda Wilson of Vienna. She was preceded in death by her foster mother, Phebe Simmons; husband, Walter Carter; three brothers; and several half-brothers and half-sisters. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Dave Morris officiating. Burial was in Thorn Addition cemetery, Palestine.
CHENOWETH, T.R.
Thurl Ray "T.R." Chenoweth, 99, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born at Nicut, the son of the late David and Mary Jane Knotts Chenoweth. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. During the early 1930s, he was construction superintendent for Rt. 16 in Clay County. In the late 1930s, he owned and operated an oil and gas trucking company, and in the early 1940s, he was co-owner of Litman Motor Freight. Later in the 1940s, he was owner of Chenoweth Wheeler Real Estate Agency. From 1950-1975, he was a cotton farmer in Pecos, Tex. Upon retirement in 1976, he and his wife returned to Parkersburg. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Parsons Chenoweth; one son, Robert Chenoweth of Mendham, N.J.; six grandchildren, Russell E. Jones of Washington, Mary Jane Jones of Parkersburg, Amy Bryant and Tracy Bickhaus, both of Frisco, Tex., and Whitney Chenoweth and Rachael Chenoweth, both of Mendham; six great-grandchildren, Brittany Bickhaus, Luke Bryant, Emily Bryant and Lauren Bickhaus, all of Frisco, and Kirsten Jones and Allison Jones, both of Washington; one brother, J. Wesley Chenoweth of Parkersburg; and one sister, Etta C. Wheeler of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Etta Chenoweth Jones; four brothers, Robert, Carl, David W. and Denver O. Chenoweth; and two infant brothers. Services were held at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home, Parkers-burg, with Rev. Dav d Freshour officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Ella Gladys Cheuvront, 87, of Pittsburgh, died Friday, Apr. 10, 1998, at Pittsburgh Ohio Valley General Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Leona Richards Stallman. She worked at U.S. Ceramic Tile for 17 years. She was a member of Creston Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Lois Kay Weismantel of Aliquippa, Pa., and Leona Mae Horne of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Lillian Stallman of Charleston; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Cheuvront; two sisters, Ula Garrison and Maude Stallman; and one brother, Howard Stallman. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Gene Hutton officiating. Burial was in Knights of Pythias cemetery, Elizabeth.

Nancy Jane Collins, 94, of Coolville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Apr. 21, 1998, at Arcadia Nursing Home, Coolville. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Laurie Burrows Richards. She was a member of Hoy Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are four sons, Delmas Collins of Coshocton, Ohio, Paul Collins of Big Springs, Darl Collins of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Ronnie Collins of Rome, Ohio; two daughters, Opal Ball of Rittman, Ohio, and Phillis Bunner of Washington; 27 grand-children; and 46 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Collins; six sisters; one brother; and one great-grandson. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in Saunders cemetery, Big Springs.
