DULEY, LUTHER E.

Luther E. Duley, 84, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in the Willows of Parkersburg following a long illness. He was born at Index, the son of the late Curtis and Stella Yeager Duley. He was a retired employee of O. Ames Co., Parkersburg, Plant #1, with 33 years of service. He was a member of Lower Run Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Brown Duley of Parkersburg; four daughters, Louise Roddle and Edna Dawson, both of Davis-ville, and Therla Midcap and Sue Ferrell, both of Parkersburg; two sons, Verl Duley of Parkersburg and Ronald Duley of Williams-town; four sisters, Blondena Richards of Mt. Zion, Lettie Wilson of Five Forks, Tressa Buskirk of Belpre, Ohio, and Oleta Tallhammer of Beatrice; and 43 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, three brothers, and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mike Worf officiating. Burial was in Westfall cemetery, Lower Run, near Grantsville.

DUSKEY, BOYD H. "JIM"

Boyd H. "Jim" Duskey, 81, of Cremo, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at Roane General Hospital, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from W.Va. Dept. of Highways. He was a member of Knights of Pythias Lodge, Cremo, and Cremo Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Virgie Slider Duskey; two sons, Boyd F. Duskey of Canton, Ohio, and Jerry Lee Duskey of Elizabeth; two daughters, Virginia Lee Whytsell of Arnoldsburg and Beverly Carpenter of Mt. Zion; one sister, Dolly Gillispie of Vienna; one brother, George Duskey of Grantsville; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Allen Smith officiating. Burial will be in Wright cemetery, Creston. Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

DUSKEY, DANIEL DEWITT

Daniel Dewitt Duskey, 52, of Mineral Wells, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born at Cremo, a son of the late Daniel and Lena Carpenter Duskey. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of Grantsville VFW. Surviving are one son, Daniel Duskey Dickle of Mineral Wells; two daughters, Mary Duskey and Yvonne Duskey, both of Marietta, Ohio; three sisters, Grace Elmore of Mentor, Ohio, and Faustine McCartney and Edna Kingsbury, both of Grantsville; one brother, Eugene Duskey of Painesville, Ohio; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Frankie Duskey. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

DUSKEY, ELVA

Elva Duskey, 95, of Mt. Zion, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Miletree Health Care Center, Spencer, following a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Francis M. and Roanna Marks Connolly. She was founder of Mt. Zion cemetery Maintenance Association, member of American Legion Auxiliary and Victor Hamilton Post of Grantsville, and long-time member of Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and gold star member of Mt. Zion Farm Women's Club. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Surviving are four sons, Charles Duskey, Jr., of Grantsville, Harold Ray Duskey of Parkersburg, Donald G. Duskey of Texarkanna, Tex., and Ronald Duskey of Rosella, Ill.; three sisters, Mabel Bennett and Grace Nichols, both of Grantsville, and Frankie Mowery of Creston; one brother, Roy Connolly of Parkersburg; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Duskey, Sr.; one son, John Duskey in 1944; seven sisters; and four brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery, Mt. Zion.

DUSKEY, JACK EARL

Jack Earl Duskey, 60, of Lowell, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late John and Mary Belle Knight Duskey. He lived in Lowell for the past 40 years and had been a welder for Ohio Power Co. for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a member of American Legion Post 750, Lowell, and a former member of Knights of Pythias, Buell Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Sue Hanna Duskey; two daughters, Diane Duskey of Beverly and Mary Jo McDougle of Lowell; one son, Mark Lee Duskey; one granddaughter, Dayna Marie McDougle; and two brothers, Bruce Padgitt and wife Trisa of Bedford, Tex., and Russell Duskey and wife Gladys of Grantsville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Duskey. Private committal services with full military rites were held at Waterford cemetery with Jeff Duncan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Cure For Lymphoma Foundation, 215 Lexington Ave., NY, NY 10016-6023.

DYE, VIOLA

Viola G. Dye, 55, of Smithville, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.She was born in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker. Surviving are two sons, Richard Dye and David Dye, both of Arnoldsburg; two brothers, Bob Maze and Matthew Maze, both of New Philadelphia, Ohio; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis R. Dye; two children, Beverly and Mikey Dye; and one brother, Paul Maze. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Wolverton Cemet ry.

EDGELL, ELMA

Elma E. Edgell, 69, of Barberton, Ohio, formerly of Calhoun County, died at Barberton Hospital. She was born in Wood County, the daughter of the late C.T. and J. Rachael Modesitte Reed. She had attended Cremo Community Church, and was a housewife. Surviving are four sons, Larry, Garry, Roger and Randy Edgell, all of Barberton; two daughters, Karen Bowman of Tampa, Fla., and Joyce Edgell of Barberton; one brother, Ray Reed of Smithville; two sisters, Betty Cunningham of Creston and Fonda Holstein of Akron, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Timmy Bowman, Jr., Joseph Edgell, Dianna Webb and Denise Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lora Veon Edgell; one brother, June Reed; and one sister, Bonnie Edgell. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Webb officiating. Burial was in Hardman Chapel U.M. Church cemetery, Smithville.

EDINGER, PEARL

Pearl G. Edinger, 81, of Emlenton, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at her residence. She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Roy and Dora Harris Plant. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Emlenton, Rebekah Lodge, Emlenton Civic Club, and Richland Grange. She was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara E. Carr and Patricia E. Russell, both of Emlenton; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie A. Edinger in 1989, and three brothers. Private services were held at Emlenton cemetery. Memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 27, 12:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Smith, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton.

EWING, THOMAS

Thomas Herbert Ewing, 91, of Minnora, formerly of Haysville, Ohio, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at home after a long illness. He was a member of Haysville Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Thomas W. Ewing of Minnora; one daughter, Barbara Greene of San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. Services were conducted by Fickes Funeral Home, Jeromes-ville, Ohio. Burial was in Bethesda cemetery.

FARRAR, PAULINE

Pauline Farrar, 80, of Glenville, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Sunrise Health Care Center, Glenville, following a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Martin and Maude Boone Metz. She was a homemaker and a member of South Parkersburg United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Mace of Chloe and Betty Farrar of Glenville; two sons, James Farrar of Oswego, Ill., and William Farrar of Parkersburg; four sisters, Irene Wayne of Spencer, Emma Siers of Creston, Ohio, Gertrude Perkins of Barberton, Ohio, and Inez Carr of Millstone; two brothers, Martin Metz, Jr., of Orma and Frank Metz of Chloe; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Farrar; three brothers, Thurl, Clell and Bruce Metz; and one sister, Anna Miller Longfellow. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery.

FELDMAN, PATSY JANE

Patsy Jane Bee Feldman, 60, of Margate, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at her son's home in Margate following a long illness. She was born Grantsville, the daughter of the late Swazy and Cleo Altizer Bee. She graduated from Calhoun County High School and attended Glenville State College for two years. She was on the Board of The Florida Kidney Foundation at University of Florida. Surviving are her husband, Don Feldman; one son, "Rocky" Gainer of Margate; two sisters, Irene Cerwin and Virginia Braverman, and one nephew, Tony Risk, all of South Florida. Services and burial were held in Florida.

FERRELL, DEWEY

Dewey E. Ferrell, 69, of Big Bend, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, following a brief illness. He was born in Creston, the son of the late Albert and Violet Wix Ferrell. He was a former employee of W.Va. Dept. of Highways and was a timberman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are four daughters, Loretta A. Bell of Mt. Zion, Beretta L. Arthur of Grantsville, and Darlene S. Ferrell and Kathern M. Bunner, both of Munday; eight sons, Dewey Carl Ferrell of Creston, Calvin L. Ferrell of Hillsboro, Junior E. Ferrell and Larry G. Ferrell, both of Sanford, N.C., Gary P. Ferrell of Fayette, Joey H. Ferrell and Albert C. Ferrell, both of Munday, and Alvin E. Ferrell of Big Bend; three brothers, Gary D. Ferrell of Sanford, Hoy K. Ferrell of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Paul W. Snider of Big Bend; two sisters, Geneva Mae Hayes of Parkersburg and Jannette Sue Kyer of N. Ridgeville, Ohio; step-mother, Zellie Ferrell of Big Bend; a friend, Margaret Conners of Big Bend; 28 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Mae Sidwell Ferrell. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William D. Stutler officiating. Burial was in Wolverton cemetery, Munday.
