MILLER, LEXIE K.

Lexie K. Miller, 93, of Mt. Zion, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Howard and Sarah Starcher Miller. He was a retired U.S. mail carrier with 26 years service and was a member of Bryner Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Opal Hughes Miller; three daughters, Wanda L. Miller of Mt. Zion, Mary Parsons Riggs of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Janet Thomas of McAllister, Okla.; two sons, Donald L. Miller of Pettyville and John Miller of Mt. Zion; 10 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and six great-great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dollie Hughes Miller; one daughter, Barbara Riggs; one sister, Dona Miller; and one brother, Cecil Miller. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glen McBride officiating. Burial was in Bryner Chapel cemetery, Mt. Zion.

MILLER, LUCILLE A.

Lucille A. Miller, 41, of Akron, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in Akron City Hospital, following a long illness. Surviving are her mother, Cleo E. Miller of Rosedale; two sons, Nicholas J. Coleman and Ronald B. Hopkins, both of Akron; and five brothers, William Miller of Corning, Calif., Robert Miller of Mogadore, Ohio, James Miller of Baltimore, Md., Jerry Miller of Elkhart, Ind.; and Herbert Miller of Rosedale. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Mark Gerwig officiating. Burial was in Mill Fork cemetery, Rosedale.

MILLS, GAIL M.

Gail M. Mills, 81, of Elizabeth died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Mudlick, a daughter of the late Tell and Ethel Parker McDonald. She was a 1934 graduate of Calhoun County High School and a 1938 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. She taught home economics and biology for five years at Montcalm Junior High School, Mercer County. She was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy WAVES as a chief pharmacist's mate in the Hospital Corps Rehabilitation Program. She graduated from Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy and was a registered occupational therapist having practiced at Aspinwall and Clarksburg Veterans Administration hospitals. She was a long time member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She was a member of Grantsville Chapter 73, Order of Eastern Star, a member and past president of Woman's Club of Elizabeth, active with General Federation of Woman's Clubs of West Virginia, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #55 of Elizabeth, a life member of West Virginia 4-H All Stars, and a life member of West Virginia University Alumni Association where she was awarded emeritus status. She enjoyed cooking, bridge, crafts, and was an accomplished seamstress. Surviving are one son, Dr. Douglas J. Mills of Elizabeth; one grandson, Chase D. Mills of Elizabeth; and one granddaughter, Lacey N. Mills of Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Jerald Mills; two brothers, Romeo T. McDonald and J. Parker McDonald; and one sister, Ruth M. Witt. Services were held at Elizabeth Baptist Church, with Rev. Mark McCloy officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville, with military honors. Memorials may be made to WVU Foundation, c/o Busch Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Elizabeth, WV 26143.

MOLLOHAN, ARNOLD

Arnold Mollohan, 71, of Elizabeth, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Clay County, the son of the late Lanty and Maude Rogers Mollohan. He was retired from Timken Roller Bearing Co., Canton, Ohio. Surviving are two sons, Stephen Mollohan and Denzil Mollohan, both of Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Thelma Mollohan of Parkersburg, Connie Mollohan of Gerrardstown and Doris Mollohan of Russellville, Ala.; four sisters, Hallie Cunningham of Burning Springs, Mable Justice of Reedy, Bonnie Worstell and Ruth Koon, both of Marietta, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Darrell Mollohan officiating. Burial was in Nebo Baptist Church cemetery, Nebo.

MOORE, ROY 'JEFF'

Roy "Jeff" Moore, 47, of Chloe, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at CAMC General Division following a sudden illness. He was born in Braxton County, a son of Martha Tanner Moore of Florida and the late Clarence Moore. He was a farmer. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Hilda Flinn Moore; one son, Gary L. Flinn of Apple Creek, Ohio; two sisters, Thelma Carte of Chloe and Kathleen Hughes of Nebo; two brothers, Roscoe Moore and Mick Moore, both of Chloe; three step-daughters, Wanda Davisson of Apple Creek, Betty Westfall of Orma and Connie Beers of Navarre, Ohio; two step-sons, Ronnie Cross of Apple Creek and Floyd Cross of Chloe; 10 step-grandchildren; and six step-great- grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Richard Westfall officiating. Burial was in Coen cemetery, Nebo.

MORFORD, JAMES E.

Longtime Calhoun County politician James E. Morford, 79, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Dr. James A. and Margaret Elizabeth Stalnaker Morford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a West Virginia University graduate. He was a former auditor for West Virginia Dept. of Highways and former owner of Bridge Service Station, Grantsville. He was a former Calhoun County teacher and served three terms in W.Va. House of Delegates. He served two terms as Calhoun County sheriff and was a former recorder for the Town of Grantsville. He was a retired Grantsville postmaster. He was a member of Eureka Lodge #40, AF&AM, of Grantsville and Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, James A. Morford of Grantsville; one daughter, Kathryn Ellen Gainer of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Dr. Warren Morford of Proctorville, Ohio; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Morford; one sister, Kathryn Kaiser; and one brother, John William Morford. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville, with Masonic graveside rites.

MORGAN, OSCAR R. JR.

Oscar R. Morgan, Jr., 59, of Cabot Station, died Sunday, April 5, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Oscar R. and Alta Florence Richards Morgan. He was a member of VFW, Grantsville. Surviving are one niece, Mary Bennett of Exchange, and one uncle, Tracy Richards of Belpre, Ohio. Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. David Morris officiating. Burial will be in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend. Visitation is one hour prior to services.

MORGAN, OWEN R.

Owen Russell Morgan, 81, of Radford, Va., died Monday, July 6, 1998, at his residence. He was the son of the late T.S. (John) and Ruby Jane Fox Morgan. He was a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church and attended Fairlawn Baptist Church. He was a 1935 graduate of Calhoun County High School. Surviving are his wife, Frances Boone Morgan; two sons and daughters- in-law, Edward Brown and Helen Morgan of Abingdon, Va., and Owen Robert and Susan Morgan of Wytheville, Va.; one daughter and son-in- law, Alice Jane and Gary Barr of Raphine, Va.; four sisters, Jean Campbell and Joy Stevens, both of Grantsville, Audena Newhart of Williamstown and Dolly Morgan of Mount Dora, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Peter Morgan, Ethan Barr and Owen Roy Morgan. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Bob and Quinton Morgan, and three sisters, Lenora Davis, and Betty and Pauline Morgan. Services were held at Fairlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Collins officiating. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Memorials may be made to Fairlawn Baptist Church, 4 Oxford Ave., Radford, VA 24014, or Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 4040 Franklin Road, SW, Roanoke, VA 24014.

MORGAN, QUINTON P.

Quinton P. Morgan, 78, of Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, Mar. 7, 1998, at Roane General Hospital. He was born in Arnoldsburg, a son of the late T.S. and Ruby Fox Morgan. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was retired from W.Va. Dept. of Highways. He was a well-known livestock farmer and a member of Barnes Run Community Church. Surviving are one son, Mitchell Morgan of Arnoldsburg; four sisters, Joy Stevens of Grantsville, Imogene Campbell of Mt. Zion, Dolly Morgan of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Audene Newhart of Williams-town; one brother, Owen Morgan of Radford, Va.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reda Morgan; one son; two brothers; and three sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Morgan cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

MORLAN, LOTTI L.

Lotti L. Morlan, 91, of Parkview Nursing Center, Parkers-burg, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Freed, a daughter of the late Frank and Effie Smith Morrison. She was a homemaker and a member of North End Church of Christ. Surviving are her stepmother, Blondena Morrison of Craigsville; one daughter, Naomi Stanley of Parkersburg; four sons, Robert Cooper of Beckley, Dennis Cooper of Parkersburg, Shirley W. Cooper of Coolville and Philip Cooper of Cleveland; three stepdaughters, Ruth Stephen, Blanche King and Christina Morlan, all of Parkersburg; one stepson, John Morlan of Parkersburg; two brothers, Jeptha Morrison of Parkersburg and J.P. Morrison of Five Forks; one half-sister, Eloise Mullins of Craigsville; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Loura T. Cooper; her second husband, Fred Morlan; three brothers; and three sisters. Services were held at North End Church of Christ, with Wirt Cook and Eddie Cooper officiating. Burial was in Knights of Pythias cemetery, Elizabeth.

MORRIS, ARLIS E.

Arlis E. Morris, 77, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, in Americare-Salem, Salem, following a long illness. He was born in Braxton County, the son of the late Mode and Bessie Jarvis Morris. He was a World War II veteran and a retired carpenter. Surviving are one sister, Geraldine Shaffer of Stumptown; one brother, Paul Morris of Fayetteville; and one half-sister, Louise Holcomb of Bridgeport. Private burial will be held in Nobe cemetery.

MORRIS, JUNE B.

June B. Morris, 78, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, following an extended illness. She was born June 26, 1920, in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Alva and Chloe Burke. She was a graduate of Jane Lew High School and was a former Brownie and Cub Scout leader and 4-H leader. She was a member of Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and Hacker'3 Creek Pioneer Descendants. For several years, she worked with her husband in Morris Oil and Gas Co. and the family farm. Surviving are her husband, Donald W. Morris, whom she married in 1945; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Stephen Maxwell of Clarksburg and Jane and Ronald Carpenter of Grantsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Jennifer Morris of Grantsville; one brother, Opha M. Burke of Weston; eight grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William Taylor officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

MORRISON, JEPTHA D.

Jeptha D. Morrison, 85, of Parkersburg died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Frank and Effie Smith Morrison. He was retired from FMC, Parkersburg, and was a member of North End Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are one son, Henry Morrison of Parkersburg; one daughter, Mabel Y. Keever of Belleville; one brother, J.P. Morrison of Five Forks; one half-sister, Eloise Mullins of Craigsville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthy E. Morrison; three brothers; and four sisters. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evangelist Eddie Cooper officiating. Burial was in Yoak cemetery.
