RICHARDS, DEREA

Derea Richards, 88, of Munday, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at Parkview Healthcare Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Marion and Iva Rhodes Paugh. She was a homemaker and a member of Five Forks Community Church. Surviving are four daughters, Alice Cunningham of Five Forks, Mary Belt of Munday, Nora McIntyre of Mineral Wells and Nola Treadway of White Oak; four sons, Fayette Richards and Ora Richards, both of Seville, Ohio, Roland Richards of North Carolina and William Richards of Brohard; 33 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zell Richards, and two sons, Ole and Raymond Richards. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Big Springs cemetery.

RICHARDS, EVELYN R.

Evelyn R. Richards, 83, of Davisville died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Jeff and Effie Gay Stallman Dye. She was a homemaker. Surviving are one daughter, Lucille Lane Fluharty of Davisville; seven grandchildren, Pamela McDonald of Belpre, Vernon Richards of Kansas, Jeff Richards, Sheila Richards, Mitchell Richards and Michael Richards, all of Big Springs, and Brenda Walker of Big Bend; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Calhoun County sheriff Park Richards, in 1976; one son, Ophard Richards; one sister, Chloe Dye; and two brothers, Dale Dye and William Dye. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Big Springs cemetery.

RICHARDS, RAYMOND

Raymond V. Richards, 66, of Brunswick, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, in Parma General Hospital, Parma, Ohio, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Zell and Derea Richards (His mother died the same day, her obituary follows this one). He was a Korean War veteran and was retired from Reserve Iron and Metal Co., Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving are three sons, Raymond Richards of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Richard Richards of Brunswick and William Richards of Marengo, Ohio; two daughters, Beverly Neidert of Brunswick and Victoria Schroder of North Royalton, Ohio; four brothers, Fayette Richards and Ora Richards, both of Seville, Ohio, Roland Richards of North Carolina and William Richards of Brohard; and four sisters, Alice Cunningham of Five Forks, Mary Belt of Munday, Nora McIntyre of Mineral Wells and Nola Treadway of White Oak.He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Richards in 1994. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend.

RICHARDS, SHEILA RENEE

Sheila Renee Richard, 35, of Big Springs, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at CAMC-General Division, Charleston. She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of Glenna Echard Richards and the late Ophard Richards. She worked as a postal clerk for U.S. Postal Service, Parkersburg. ]Surviving in addition to her mother are one sister, Brenda L. Walker of Big Bend, and four brothers, Vernon Richards of Edgerton, Kan., and Jeffery Richards, Mitch Richards and Mike Richards, all of Big Springs. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in Big Springs cemetery.

RIDDEL, CHARLES E.

Charles E. Riddel died Friday, Apr. 17, 1998, in Buffalo, Wyoming. He was a son of the late Howard and Edith McClung Riddel and grandson of John G. and Rose Howard Riddel of Grantsville. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years service. Surviving are eight children, five grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Riddel Woodmansar of Kaufman, Tex.; aunts, Eleanor "Dink" Duskey, Loraine "Brooke" Rogers and Thelma Deel, all of Ohio; and uncles, Gail Riddel of Ohio and Gene Riddel of Arizona. Services and burial were held at the military cemetery in Buffalo.

RIDDLE, ALPHA G.

Alpha G. Riddle, 86, of Ashland, Ohio, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at his residence. He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Judson E. and Naoma Stump Riddle. After high school, he studied at Glenville State College and Ashland College and received a B.S. degree in education and a masters in education in school administration and supervision from Kent State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. His career in education spanned 45 years. He came to Ashland County in 1945 and taught in Nova, Adario and Lincoln, Grant and Arthur Street elementary schools. For 19 years, he was employed by Tuscarawas County Schools as a teacher, principal, and elementary supervisor, and retired as director of supervisory services in 1975. He was past chairman of Northeastern Ohio School Supervisors, McKinley Council International Reading Association, New Philadelphia Council of Churches, Tuscarawas County Council of Church and Community, and Tuscarawas County Council of Religious Education. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Ashland, former teacher of Loyal Workers Sunday School class, and member of the Builders Group. He formerly served on Program Council, Salary Commission, and Committee on Nominations for East Ohio Conference of United Methodist Churches. He had just received his pin for 35 years of perfect attendance in Lions Club. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Madalene A. Roberts; three daughters, Manoka Hassinger and Lenore Reich, both of Ashland, and Myrna Edie of Greenfield, Ind.; four sisters, Genieva Conrad of Grantsville, Stella Reed of Barberton, Ohio, and Augusta Riddle and Pauline Gainer, both of St. Marys; two brothers, Arden Riddle of Copley, Ohio and Paul Riddle of Norton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, Ashland, with Rev. Thomas A. Snyder officiating, and burial in Ashland County Memorial Park. Lions Memorial Service was held and Ashland County Joint Veterans Council will participate in military graveside services.

RIDDLE, GERALD

Gerald E. Riddle, 58, of Sand Ridge, died in an automobile accident on Rt. 5 near Elizabeth on Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. He was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of Clyde Riddle, Sr., of Stowe, Ohio, and the late Katheryn Riddle. He was a self-employed mechanic. Surviving in addition to his father are nine brothers, John Riddle, James Riddle, Richard Riddle and Clyde Riddle, Jr., all of Akron, Terry Riddle of Washington, Ernest Riddle of Kentucky, Donald Riddle of California, Charlie Riddle of Ohio and Michael Riddle of Arizona; four sisters, Karen RRiddle and Carol Pratt, both of Arizona, Donna Riddle and Evelyn Beigh, both of California. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Riddle. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Cleston Garrett officiating. Burial was in Knicley cemetery, Servia.

RIDDLE, WILLIAM DYE

William Dye Riddle, 88, of Ravenna, Ohio, formerly of Grantsville, died Thursday, Apr. 16, 1998, at Portage County Nursing Center, Ravenna, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Scott and Melvina Deems Riddle. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Star while fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a former security guard and was employed in the Ohio highway construction industry. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

RITCHIE, MARSHALL GLEN

Marshall Glen Ritchie, 77, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County and retired as a machinist in Cleveland after 34 years. He was formerly employed by Central Brass Corporation and was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps. Surviving are two sons, Nolan Ritchie of Grantsville and Rex Yoak of Big Bend; three daughters, Sheila Yost of Parkersburg, Mary Lynch of Mineral Wells and Sandra Taylor of Belpre, Ohio; one brother, Dale Ritchie of Big Springs; one sister, Edyth Ferrell of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Rose Ritchie; four brothers, Paul, Jim, Carl and Grover Ritchie; and two sisters, Glada Harris and Edith Whipkey. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg.

ROBERTS, LESLIE M.

Leslie M. Roberts, 75, of Orma, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Orma, a daughter of the late Alpha Sr. and Susie White Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a member of Orma United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Claudis A. McCune, Jr., of Richwood and Doyle B. Roberts of Norton, Ohio; one daughter, Bernice M. Tingler of Big Springs; three brothers, Brooks Carpenter of Deerwalk, Wade Carpenter of Gassaway and Alpha Carpenter, Jr., of Port Huron, Mich.; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Claudis A. McCune, Sr.; her second husband, Horace J. Roberts; one sister, Beatrice Butler; and two brothers, Stanley Carpenter and Cecil Carpenter. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Carpenter cemetery, near Orma.

ROBINSON, EARL V.

Earl V. Robinson, 83, of Harrisville died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in Parkersburg. He was born in Frozen, Calhoun County, and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935. He was a retired timberman, an avid gardener who shared his crops graciously and a member of Riddles Chapel Congregational Church, Harrisville. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Minnie B. Lawson Robinson; three sons, Vinton Robinson of Tanner, Glen Robinson of Belleville and Melvin Robinson of Walker; two daughters, Helen Keith of Mineral Wells and Judith Hardbarger of Washington; one brother, Robert Robinson of Tanner; one sister, Geneva Lawson of Arnoldsburg; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gray and Hollie Bailey Robinson; one brother, Erman Robinson; and two sisters, Sylvia Ballard and Thelma Little. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Burial in Harrisville 100F cemetery.

ROBINSON, HAROLD B.

Harold B. Robinson, 96, of Belmont died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Marietta Center, Marietta, Ohio. He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late Burton and Rosalee Adams Robinson. He graduated from Elizabeth High School, received a bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan and a master's degree from West Virginia University. He was an educator, having taught in Calhoun, Wirt, Ritchie, Wood, Pleasants and Jackson counties in West Virginia and at Plymouth, Ohio. He was a member of W.Va. Education Association and National Education Association. He was a Protestant. Surviving are one son, Harold Grant Robinson of Hixson, Tenn.; two daughters, Margie Wilson of Channing, Mich., and Ava Cantwell of Belmont; four sisters, Margaret Smith of Zanesville, Ohio, Zetta Mae Doty of Winter Garden, Fla., and Wynema Lemasters and Naomi Kirchner, both of Greensburg, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Chessie Alta Busch Robinson; his second wife, Elsie Smith Robinson; three brothers, Harley Robinson, Elvin Robinson and George Robinson; one sister, Heloise Higgins; and two grandsons, Todd Robinson and Robert Gregory Robinson. Memorial services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Earl Perkins officiating. Burial was in Hartley cemetery, Brohard, at the convenience of the family.

ROBINSON, MINNIE B.

Minnie B. Robinson, 78, of Harrisville, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born at Frozen, a daughter of the late John and Zanna Tucker Lawson. She formerly worked at Rubber Fabricators, Grantsville, and retired from United Manufacturing, Harrisville, as a seamstress. She was a member of Riddle's Chapel Congrega-tional Church. Surviving are three sons, Vinton Robinson of Tanner, Glen Robinson of Belleville and Melvin Robinson of Walker; two daughters, Helen Keith of Mineral Wells and Judith Hardbarger of Washington; two brothers, Denzil Lawson and Ray Lawson, both of Navarre, Ohio; three sisters, Cleo Newell of Orma, Zella Boone of Nazarre and Helen Cottrill of Garfield Heights, Ohio; 13 grand-children; and 19 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Bert and Edgar Lawson; three sisters, Stella Schartiger, Tessie Leek and Gay Fulks; and her husband, Earl V. Robinson, on Mar. 25, 1998. Services were held at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Rev. O.D. Harmon and Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Burial was in IOOF cemetery, Harrisville.
