YEAGER, STEVEN MARSH

Steven Marsh Yeager, 31, of Troy, died at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, on Friday, Juy 17, 1998, following an automobile accident near Glenville. Surviving are his parents, Erwin and Cleo Yeager of Troy; six brothers, Roger Yeager of Gassaway, Lee Yeager of Stout's Mill, Charles Yeager of Troy, Bob Yeager of Weston, Lane Yeager of Jane Lew and Reggie Yeager of Romney; six sisters, Patty Yeager and Brenda Taylor, both of Stout's Mill, Connie Tinney of Buckhannon, Judy Fisher of Weston, Annette Ledbetter of Barberton, Ohio, and Wanda Blosser of Midland, Tex. Joint funeral services were held (for he and David A. Taylor) at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Yeager Family cemetery, Stout's Mill.

YOAK, BERNETTA M.

Bernetta M. Richards Yoak, 65, of Big Bend, died Sunday, Mar. 22, 1998, at Glenville. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Bernard L. Richards and Glenna M. Hopkins Richards. She was a former employee of Calhoun County Board of Education and was a Baptist. Surviving are one daughter, Connie L. Frame of Glenville; one brother, Denzil B. Richards of Big Bend; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Yoak in 1979, and two sons, Richard Glen Yoak and Gary W. Yoak. Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Brooksville Baptist Church, with Rev. Ron George officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.

YOST, DENVER

Denver Yost, 85, of Parkersburg, formerly of Big Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Parkersburg. He was born in Wood County, the son of the late Fred Yost and Daisy Marshall Yost. He started in the oil and gas industry at the age of 13 as a teamster and driller for W.H. Bickle Oil and Gas Co. He also worked for Engle Drilling Co. and Haught Oil and Gas Co. He retired from Cain Oil and Gas Co. in 1975, after serving in the oil and gas industry for 49 years. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Zanie Richards Yost; two sons, Robert Yost of Smithville and Arthur E. Yost of Amesville, Ohio; one brother, Delbert Yor4 of Lancaster, Ohio; four grand-children; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Yost, Jim Yost and Junior Yost, and two grandchildren, Arick Yost and Michael Yost. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating.

AARON, ETTA

Etta Aaron, 85, of Big Bend, died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Laura Burrows Richards. She was a homemaker and member of Norman Ridge United Methodist Church. Surviving are one sister, Nancy Collins of Little Hocking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Goodman Aaron. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Norman Ridge United Methodist Church cemetery.

ALVIS, CARL H.

Carl Hayden Alvis, 83, of Spencer, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at his residence. He was born in Roane County, a son of the late James H. and Rose Alvis. He formerly worked at Spencer State Hospital in the kitchen and laundry, and was a self-employed lawn keeper. Surviving are one daughter, Rose Justice of Spencer; two stepdaughters, Kathy Deel and Joyce Hendrickson, both of Aiken, S.C.; two sisters, Eleanor Nester of Spencer and Julia Ray of Grantsville; three brothers, Calvin Alvis, Tony Alvis and Charles Alvis, all of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Daisy Hardman Alvis; and one daughter, Emma Mae Tanner. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Hebron cemetery, near Spencer.

ANDERSON, BARBARA

Barbara Ann Anderson, 66, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Aug 14, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Glen Morrison, a daughter of C. A. and Inez Blankenship. She grew up in Pineville and moved to Grantsville in 1958. She graduated from Pineville High School and attended Marshall College. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Glenville. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, James E. Anderson; three sons, John Anderson of New Haven, Conn., Joseph Anderson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jesse Anderson of Morgantown; two daughters, Pamela Anderson of Lake Park, Fla., and Carolyn Jo Anderson of Morgantown; three sisters, Carolyn Norman of Jupiter, Fla., Patty Wells of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Mary Sue Adams of Charleston; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Kanawha City, with Rev. Esber Tweel officiating. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery, Elkins. Memorials may be made to Heartwood Dance Center, c/o Jude Binder, Rt. 1, Box 61, Big Bend, WV 26136.

ANDERSON, FERN M.

Fern M. Anderson, 73, of Belpre, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Five Forks, a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Bertha Metz Richards. She was a homemaker and a cook/ waitress at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital during World War II. She was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Don Anderson; two sons, Ernest Anderson of Belpre and John David Mathers of Washington; one brother, Robert "Bud" Richards of Harrisville; two sisters, Edith Fluharty of Harrisville and Virgia Frederick of Big Springs; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, John C. Mathers, Willie H. Clevenger and John Eaton; three sisters, Eula Postalwait, Zona Sims and Dollie Dye; and two brothers, Leonard Richards and Thomas Richards. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Stergel A. Vincent officiating. Burial was in Ellenboro Masonic cemetery.

ARNOLD, ERNEST N.

Ernest N. Arnold, 68, of Doylestown, Ohio, died Monday, May 12, 1997, at Akron General Medical Center. He was born in Nicut, a son of the late Edward C. and Martha Barr Arnold. He retired from Ohio Edison Co. in 1990 as supervisor of operations with 35 years of service. He was a member of Ohio Edison Men's Club and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are two brothers, Paul and Ray, both of Akron. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; a son, James E.; and a brother, George. Services were held at Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Edward Morrison officiating. Burial was in East Liberty cemetery, Green, Ohio.

ARNOLD, ROXIE A.

Roxie A. Arnold, 83, of St. Albans, formerly of Chloe, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at Cedar Ridge Health Care Center, Sissonville. She was born in Mud Fork, a daughter of the late Charles and Ida Morris Cadle. She was a St. Albans resident for 47 years and owned and operated a restaurant in South Charleston for several years. Surviving are one sister, Rosa Rogers of Flint, Mich. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Cadle cemetery, Chloe.

BAILEY, EVELYN

Evelyn G. Bailey, 83 of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at The Willows Nursing Home. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Harrison and Viola Weekley Sears. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church. Surviving are four sons, Bernis Bailey of Tucson, Ariz., Jack Bailey and David Bailey, both of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Dan Bailey of Parkersburg; one stepson, Chesley 'Buck' Bailey of Parkersburg; four daughters, Wilma Fay Vannoy and Karen Lutz, both of Beaver Falls, Mary Cooper of Washington and Sue Smith of Belleville; one stepdaughter, Gladys Linger of Weston; two brothers, Haybred Sears and Darrell Sears, both of Chloe; two sisters, Thelma Lichlyter of Parkersburg and Orva Parsons of Chloe; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greely Charles Bailey; two sons, Roger Dale Bailey and Charles Bailey; two daughters, Iva Jean Bailey and Irene Mae Bailey; two brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Lynn Roush officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Calhoun County.

BAILEY, JESSE J.

Jesse J. Bailey, 78, of Arnoldsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Roane General Hospital. He was born in Oceana, a son of the late Elbert and Loraine Blankenship Bailey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a former coal miner and truck driver. He attended Walnut Grove Community Church, Arnoldsburg. Surviving are his wife, Ellen I. Bailey of Arnoldsburg; four sons, Dan H. Bailey, David Bailey and Danny Wayne Bailey, all of Middletown, Ohio, and Ronald Bailey of Arnoldsburg; one sister, Freda Hamlin of Logan; one brother, Thurman Bailey of Harris-ville; one half-brother, Thomas J. Bailey of Fairmont; three half-sisters, Wanda Sue Davisson and Berlin Kell, both of Harrisville, and Lucille Sutphin of Cox's Mill; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Allen Smith officiating. Burial was in Auburn Baptist cemetery.

BALLARD, GERTRUDE

Gertrude E. Ballard, 92, of Big Bend, died Monday, June 16, in Glenville-Americare following an extended illness. She was born at McCann's Run, Lewis County, the daughter of the late John Garton and Lucy Rhorbough Garton. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Weston. Surviving are one sister, Edna Stalnaker of Jane Lew, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warder W. Ballard, Mar. 25, 1960; one brother, John Robert Garton; and four sisters, Margaret Hess, Minnie Jones, Daisy Bartlett and Mary Fauver. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel, Weston, with Rev. John Simmons officiating, and burial in Waldeck cemetery, Weston.

BARNES, PAULINE

Pauline Barnes, 80, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Mar. 26, 1997, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Elma Barr Barnes. Surviving are one son, Jack Barnes of Davisville; one daughter, Phyllis Starcher of Poca; three brothers, Clyde Barnes of Vienna, Ralph Barnes and Bill Barnes, both of Parkersburg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

BARTLETT, HARLEY

Harley F. Bartlett, 69, of Proctorville, Ohio, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, following a short illness. He was a son of the late Rev. N.H. and Daisy Garton Bartlett. He was a retired pharmacist for the former Westlo Drug Store, West Logan, and a World War II veteran serving as a paratrooper. He was a member of First Baptist Church, South Point, Ohio, and a member of West Logan Baptist Church for several years, where he served as a deacon. Surviving are his wife, Willyne Godby Bartlett; three brothers, William E. Bartlett of Huntington, Eugene P. Bartlett of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Ray F. Bartlett of Big Springs. He was preceded in death by one brother, Starling N. Bartlett. Services were held at Honaker Funeral Home, Logan, with Rev. Zane Gray and G. Kent Mershon officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn cemetery, Pecks Mill.
