Fred W. Eberle, 90, of South Charleston, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at home after a long illness. He was raised at Martin's Ferry. He attended Glenville State College and West Virginia Institute of Technology, and was a teacher at Calhoun County High School in the 1930s. He was a former employee of the West Virginia state education system. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Stump; two daughters, Judith Stone of Charleston and Diana Bodkins of Pt. Pleasant; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Graveside services were held at Cunningham Memorial Park, with Masonic graveside rites by Charleston Lodge 153.

Rebecca Ellison, 93, a resident of Worthington Manor Nursing Home, died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at the center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late William M. and Mary O'Brien Ellison. She was a homemaker. Surviving are one son, William Ellison of Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ray Ellison; one daughter, Mary R. Nedeff, one son, Robert F. Ellison; one infant grandson; six sisters; and five brothers. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel cemetery, Parkersburg.

Etta Ewing, 89, of Americare-Glenville Nursing and Rehabili-tation, formerly of Creston, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at the center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Douglas and Massalona Craddock Ewing. She was a member of Snyder Chapel Church, Annamoriah. Surviving are one half sister, Hannah McCoy of Burning Springs. She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Shimer; one brother, Everett Ewing; two half brothers, Thomas Ewing and Robert Ewing; and one half sister, Hulda Hendrickson. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Snyder Chapel Church cemetery, Annamoriah.

Edna Falls, 83, of Americare-Glenville, formerly of Grants-ville, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Weston. She was born in Orma, a daughter of the late Ed and Frona Butler Wears. She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. Surviving are her husband, Herman Falls of Americare-Glenville; one son, Larry Joseph, Jr., of Orrville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Joseph of Orrville; one grandson, Larry Joseph of Orrville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Donzel Wease officiating. Burial was in Bailey cemetery near Minnora.

Irene Ferguson, 62, of Orma, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at the residence of her caregivers, Victor and Madeline Butler. She was born in Fayette County and had been a resident of Orma for 24 years. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Orma United Methodist cemetery.
FERRELL, DURWARD
Durward 'Dode' Ferrell, 81, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna, Ohio, after a long illness. He was born in Calhoun County, the oldest son of Lewis T. 'Darl' Ferrell and Emily Burris Ferrell. He attended elementary school in Big Bend until his family moved to Parkersburg. He spent several years in the Civilian Conservation Corps and moved to Ravenna in 1941 to work at Ravenna Arsenal. Survivors include several cousins in the Grantsville area.
FERRELL, HARRY DOYLE
Harry Doyle Ferrell, 68, of Millersburg, Ohio, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at Sunset View Nursing Center, Millersburg. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Earl and Stella Norman Ferrell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by Buckhorn Oil and was in the oil industry all of his life. Surviving are his wife, Helen Hanshaw Ferrell of Millersburg; three sons, Michael Ferrell of Denton, Tex., David Ferrell and Deward Ferrell, both of Hobbs, N.M.; two stepsons, William Rock of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jeffery Edens of Millersburg; two stepdaughters, Kathlyn Gatens of Cleveland and Patricia Sherwood of West Lake, Ohio; one sister, Irene Ambromovich of Akron; one brother, Gene Strader of Dayton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 12 stepgrandchildren. Services were held at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Rev. Cliff Hartley officiating. Graveside services were held at Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

Pearl Ferrell, 41, of Sanford, N.C., formerly of Munday, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Wesley and Bessie Shuman McIntyre. She was a former employee of Moen Corp. of North Carolina. Surviving are one son, Wesley Echard of Sanford; two daugh-ters, Michelle Echard and Robin Lugunas, both of Sanford; four brothers, Casper Shuman of Elizabeth, Lawrence McIntyre of Brohard, Jim McIntyre of Big Bend and John McIntyre of Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Florence Smith of Canton and Judy Hales of Bass, N.C.; and two grandchildren. Services were held at God's House of Prayer, Elizabeth, with Rev. Mark Lilly officiating. Burial was in Belt cemetery, Munday.
FERRRELL, LEWIS L.
Rev. Lewis L. Ferrell, 58, of Franklin, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was born in Spencer, a son of Lewis and Nina Ferrell. He was a 1958 graduate of Calhoun County High School and a 1968 graduate of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo. He was ordained in 1969 and pastored five churches. He received his doctor of ministry at Andrew Baptist College and Seminary, Sacramento, in 1977. In 1990, he was founding pastor of Berachah Baptist Church, Middletown, Ohio. He served on the board of the Middletown Crisis Pregnancy Center and Board of Faith Children Home, Tampa, Fla. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Surviving are his wife, Laura Nell Ferrell; three sons, Rev. L. Lamar Ferrell of Middletown, Trent Ferrell of Tulsa, Okla., and Jonathan Ferrell of the home; one brother, James Riddle of Vienna; one twin sister, Lois Lowther of Middletown; and two grand-children. Services were held at Berachah Baptist Church, with Rev. L. Lamar Ferrell and Rev. Rick Nuzum officiating. Burial was in Merrill's Chapel cemetery, Slate. Memorials may be made to Berachah Baptist Church.

Kathryn "Kate" Finch, 97, of Cedar Ridge Nursing Home, Sissonville, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at the nursing home. She was born in Milo, a daughter of the late James M. and Kathryn Sherry Starcher. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and a member of North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood. Surviving are three daughters, Gwendolyn Anderson of Ravenswood; Wanda Guinn of Cape Coral, Fla., and Kathryn Lyons of Long Beach, N.C.; three brothers, Bob Finch of Nitro, Ellis Finch of Teays Valley and Harold May of Ripley; one sister, Freda Rinehart of Teays Valley; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Finch, and one infant son. Services were held at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Rev. Larry Crawford officiating.

Willard Fluharty, Jr., 43, of Creston, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center. He was born in Wood County, a son of Evelyn Fluharty of Creston and the late Willard Fluharty, Sr. He was a former head librarian at Hampton University, Hampton, Va. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are one sister, Rena Bowman of Creston; and five brothers, Mike Fluharty and Thurman Fletcher, both of Clarksburg, Jennings Fletcher of Charleston, and Jeffrey Fletcher and James Fletcher, both of Parkersburg. Services were at the family's convenience.

Dennis Paul Ford, 64, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at home in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born in Freed, a son of the late Audrey and Ruth Ford. Surviving are one daughter, Charlotte; one son, Dennie Paul; two sisters, Betty and Amelia; two brothers, Gail and Mike; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson. Otta T. Fowler, 86, of Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of Grantsville, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Homer and Anna P. Francis Trippett. She was retired from Ben Franklin Store, Grantsville, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are her husband, Orval Fowler of Grantsville; one daughter, Sherron Ice of Johnson City; one son, Billy D. Trippett of Grantsville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Trippett, and one son-in-law, Drexell Ice. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

Reeta Fowler, 98, of Spencer, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Miletree Health Care Center, Spencer. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mahalia Huffman Fowler. She was the oldest member of Enon Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Francis and Addy Lowe; and two brothers, Dye Fowler and Obert Fowler. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Harry Siers officiating, and burial in Bethlehem cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
