STUMP, JORDON LEIGH

Jordon Leigh Stump, infant child of Stephen M. and Deena Lynn Whipkey Stump of Grantsville, was stillborn, Saturday, Mar. 1, 1997, at Roane General Hospital. Surviving in addition to the parents are one brother, Zachary Stump of the home; maternal grandparents, Denzil and Jeanie Whipkey of Millstone; paternal grandmother, Bernice Stump of Stumptown; and maternal great-grandparents, Lester and Willodene Cunningham of Mt. Zion and Edith Whipkey of Five Forks. Graveside services were held at Sand Ridge cemetery, Sand Ridge, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating.

STUMP, LEON HAYMAKER

Leon Haymaker Stump, 87, of Enterprise, Ala., died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at his home after a long illness. He was born at Rocksdale, a son of Al and Maude Cooper Stump. He was a retired flight instructor at Ft. Rucker, Ala., in fixed wing and helicopter. He was a noted cropduster and founder of Alabama Cylinder Gas and Enterprise Aviation which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Chancellor Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Doris Peebles Stump; one daughter, Dr. Celia Stump; four sisters, Mame Lower, Emma Jean Brumbaugh, both of Akron, Ohio, Evelyn Kirby of Grantsville and Pauline Mace of Spencer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Cleavenger of Spencer; three brothers, Russell Stump of Spencer, and Charles and Alvin Stump, Jr., both of Akron. Graveside services were held at Meadow Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Burney Reece officiating.

STURM, FRED, JR.

Fred Sturm, Jr., 75, of Mt. Zion, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Division. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Fred and Geraldine Burrows Sturm, Sr. He was a former Pennzoil Co. employee and worked for Morris Oil and Gas, Grantsville, for several years. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mildred Moales Sturm; one daughter, Rhonda Price of Arnoldsburg; one son, Dana Sturm of Buckhannon; two brothers, Lee Sturm of Grantsville and Deon Sturm of Parkersburg; one sister, Mildred Cunningham of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Jeffrey Moales and Rev. Charles Davis officiating, and burial in Odell cemetery, Quick.

STUTLER, ARLIE F.

Arlie F. Stutler, 88, of Rittman, Ohio, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, Wadsworth, Ohio. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Curtis and Mabel Schrader Stutler. He was retired from Rockwell International Corp. of Ohio. Surviving are one son, Russell Stutler of Norton, Ohio; one brother, Ralph Stutler of Norton; two sisters, Madaline Lynch of Mt. Zion and Rosetta Thompson of Cocoa, Fla.; four grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blondena Stutler, and two brothers, William Stutler and Earl Stutler. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William D. Stutler officiating. Burial was in Cooper cemetery, Annamoriah.

STUTLER, BILLY

Billy Gene Stutler, 53, of Creston, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born at Creston, a son of Jessie I. Vandale Stutler and the late William C. Stutler. He was an avid outdoorsman and a Protestant. Surviving in addition to his mother are five sisters, Betty Whited and Teresa Starcher, both of Creston, Pearl Parsons and Patricia Francis, both of Elizabeth, and Muriel Hughes of Parkers-burg; two brothers, Harold Stutler of Creston and William D. Stutler of Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Cooper cemetery near Creston.

SULLIVAN, DAISY J.

Daisy Josephine Sullivan, 77, of Perkins, Gilmer County, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Zair and Gladys Moore Jenkins. She retired from Glenville State College after 19 years of service in the housekeeping department. She was a homemaker and former member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, near Normantown. She was a member of Crooked Fork Baptist Church, Perkins. Surviving are her husband, Woodrow Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Jenkins. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery.

WOLFE, DENNIE G.

Dennie G. Wolfe, 93, of St. Marys, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at his residence. He was born in Roane County, a son of the late Dennie G. and Anna Hively Wolfe. He moved to Pleasants County in 1947. He was employed by American Cyanamid Co. for more than 21 years prior to his retirement in 1969. He was elected magistrate in 1976. He was a guard at West Virginia Penitentiary, Moundsville, and was a constable in Calhoun County. He was a 50-year member of Moriah Lodge 38, AF&AM, Spencer, and was a Royal Arch Mason. He was a life member of American Rifleman. One of 10 children, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marie Rider Wolfe. Services were held at Ruttencutter Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Rev. Darrel L. Gooden officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery, Parkersburg.

WOODYARD, PARK C.

Park C. Woodyard, 87, of Shock, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway. He was born in Belfont, Braxton County, a son of the late Rex and Dacie Perrine Woodyard. He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired farmer and construction worker. He was a member of Shock Church of Christ and was a well-known storyteller and historian. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Garnet Wilson Woodyard of Shock; one son, Wayne Woodyard of Cedarville; one daughter, Helen Woodyard of Clarksburg; and two granddaughters, Katrina Woodyard and Rebecca Woodyard, both of Cedarville. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Evangelists Vernon Kerns and Richard Vanhorn officiating. Burial was in Collins cemetery, Stumptown.

WRIGHT, HOMER

Homer W. Wright, 84, of Broomstick, died Monday, April 21, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born at Wease Ridge, a son of the late Bryan K. and Mary Jane Wright. He was a retired Calhoun County school bus driver and a former television technician for Grantsville Appliance. Surviving are one son, Eric Wright of Morgantown; one foster daughter, Deborah Whipkey of Big Bend; three sisters, Thelma Francis of Texas, Goldie Maloney of Parkersburg and Tressie Francis of Five Forks; and three brothers, Kenneth Wright of Spencer, Harlow Wright of New Mexico and Eugene Wright of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma S. Wright; one brother, John Wright; and two sisters, Ina Ward and Alma Plant. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. D.L. Kirby officiating. Burial was in Broomstick cemetery.

YEAGER, MARTHA A.

Martha Ann Yeager, 60, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Cleveland, a daughter of the late John and Anna Bellish Vargo. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Clay Yeager, Jr.; one son, William C. Yeager of Delevan, Wisc.; and three grandchildren, Billy J. Yeager, Patrick Clay Yeager and Andrew J. Yeager, all of Delevan. She was preceded in death by one son, John Yeager. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Yeager-Westfall cemetery, Lower Run, near Grantsville.

YOAK, DOROTHY

Dorothy Schoolcraft Yoak, 67, of Rittman, Ohio, died Monday, June 9, 1997, at Rittman Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Janie Coger Schoolcraft. She was a homemaker. Surviving are one daughter, Judy Straub of Rittman; one son, Charles Richard Short of Parkersburg; three sisters, Zee Blosser and Lorraine Dillon, both of Sand Ridge, and Colleen Bray of Clinton, Ohio; two brothers, Arland Schoolcraft and Arnold Lee Schoolcraft, both of Sistersville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Short, and her second husband, Denver G. Yoak, Jr. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Sand Ridge cemetery, Sand Ridge.

YOAK, OLLIE B.

Ollie Belle Yoak, 93, of Pleasant Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude Francis Kight. She was a homemaker. Surviving are four daughters, Grace Richards and Edna Robinson, both of Grantsville, Evadeen Kesler of Huntington and Hazel Tingler of Big Springs; four sons, Norman Yoak, Robert Yoak, B.J. Yoak and O. Ray Yoak, all of Grantsville; 20 grand-children; and 23 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Yoak; three brothers, Orville Kight, Dallas Kight and Henry Kight; and two sisters, Stella Kight and Ethel Stump. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calhoun Library, Grantsville, or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, HC 68, Grantsville, WV 26147.

YOKE, R. LEON

Roland Leon "Big Yoke" Yoke, 76, of Americare-Glenville, formerly of Grantsville, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at the nursing home. He was born in Valley Chapel, Lewis County, a son of the late Orval White and Nellie Potts Yoke. He was a former oil field worker for Godfrey L. Cabot, Beckley, and former owner of Francis Hardware, Grantsville. He was a 1942 graduate of Calhoun County High School where he played football and basketball. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific and receiving victory medal commendations. He was a retired school bus driver for Calhoun County Board of Education and was a member of High Run Hunting Club, Grantsville VFW Post 5959, and First Baptist Church, Grantsville. He was an avid sportsman, coon hunter, and deer hunter. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Anne Francis Yoke of Walker; one daughter, Ronda Diane Yoak of Walker; three grandsons, Travis Leon West of Parkersburg, Tracy Trent West of Walker and Torey Thomas Yoak of Weston; and one great-grandson, Zachary Michael West of Grantsville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Orval Yoke, Jr. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m., at Calhoun County Park, shelter #1 (first road to the right), with Rev. Joe Law officiating. Arrangements were by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Memorials may be made to Calhoun County Athletic Dept., Grantsville, or Alzheimer's Association.

RICHARDS, EVERETT G.

Everett Granville "E.G." Richards, 82, of Belpre, died Friday, April 26, 1996, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Big Bend, a son of the late General and Elsie McCune Richards. He was a carpenter and had retired after 42 years in the housing construction business in the Mid-Ohio Valley. He was self- employed and at the time of his retirement was employed by Ray C. Emrick Quality Homes, Belpre. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Barlow. Surviving are five daughters, Violet Richards of Veto, Shelby Grimes of Red Hill, Wilma Barnhart and Linda Sinnett, both of Belpre, and Roberta Coler of Dania, Fla.; three sons, Russell Ray Richards of Bartlett, Jerry Roberts of Vincent and Steven Michael Richards of College Station, Tex.; one brother, Tracy Richards of Marietta; two sisters, Mabel Taylor of Doylestown, Ohio and Maxine Knight of Glenville; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grand-children; one great- great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Docia Taylor Richards; one son, Rondell Richards; one daughter, Shirley Ann Richards; two brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Tonya Frederick. Services were held at Spencer Funeral Home, Belpre, and Spruce Hollow Community Church, Big Bend, with Rev. Joe Cannon, Rev. Robin Swinsburg and Rev. Chris DeBord officiating. Burial was in Taylor cemetery, Big Bend.
