WEEKLEY, ROBERT D.

Robert D. Weekley, 68, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Mar. 28, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Lear Parsons Weekley of Akron, and the late Fred Weekley. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School and Mountain State Business College, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 35 years of service with American Cyanamid, and was a member of World Wide Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Waneta Jackson Bowman Weekley; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Mankin of Pomeroy and Pamela Parsons of Tuppers Plains, Ohio; five brothers, Paul Weekley of Knoxville, Tenn., Lowell Weekley of Spencer, Loy Weekley of Canton, William Weekley of Wooster, Ohio, and Carroll Weekley of Parkersburg; two sisters, Glenna Pilgrim of Homeland, Calif., and Sharon Hill of Lineboro, Md.; two granddaughters; his stepmother, Opal Weekley of Vienna; one stepbrother, Larry Cottrell of Orma; and two stepsisters, Geneva Lucas of Arizona and Barbara Smith of Washington. Memorial services were scheduled Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Randy Dellasandro officiating. Burial was at the convenience of the family.

WELLS, JOHN M.

John M. Wells, 83, of Rt. 5, Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994, at Worthington Manor Care Center. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Charles and Marcella Baker Wells. He was a World War II veteran and retired as owner of Johnny's Auto Parts and Motel. He was a charter member of Grace Gospel Church, Pettyville, and a member of Scottish Rite and Mount Olivet Lodge 3, AF&AM. Surviving are his wife, Faye Deen Wells; two sons, Ronald Wells and Donald Wells, both of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; two brothers, James Wells of Chicago and Roosevelt Wells of Rupert; and one sister, Mary Wells of Grantsville. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and one granddaughter. Services were at Grace Gospel Church, Pettyville, with Rev. Bill Angel officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

WEST, MANESSA S.

Manessa Sharline West, 2-week-old infant daughter of William Robert and Sherry Ann West of Parkersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 1994, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington. She was born in Parkersburg. Surviving in addition to her parents are paternal grandmother, Roberta West of Nobe; maternal grandparents, William and Wilma Robinson of Nobe; paternal great-grandparents, Arlie and Ivy Bush of Tanner; and maternal great-grandmother, Violet Williams of Parkersburg. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glen McBride officiating, and burial to be in Nobe cemetery, Nobe.

WHIPKEY, CLARENCE

Clarence H. Whipkey, 84, of Elizabeth, formerly of Lynchburg, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Robert and Cora Bigler Whipkey. He was employed in the defense plants in Cleveland during World War II, and later relocated to Lynchburg, Va., where he was a longtime resident and operated service stations for many years. In July 1993, he moved to Elizabeth. He was a member of Fairview Christian Church, Lynchburg. Surviving are one foster son, Ray Layne of Forest, Va., one foster granddaughter; one niece, Deloris Snider of Elizabeth; two great- nieces, Pam Hickman, with whom he resided in Elizabeth, and Connie Reed of Davisville; one great-nephew; one great-great-niece; and one great-great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Zeiglar Whipkey, in 1959; and one sister, Juna Whipkey. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Lewis Villers officiating, and burial to be in Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, Nobe.

WHIPKEY, DONALD, SR.

Donald C. Whipkey, Sr., 61 of Big Bend, died Friday, Aug. 26, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Roxie Radabaugh Whipkey of Harrisville and the late Albert R. "Jack" Whipkey. He was a U.S. Army veteran and the former owner and operator of Grantsville Hotel and Restaurant. He was a member of Chapel Baptist Church, Nobe, past president of Grantsville Lions Club, served on the Wood Festival Committee for many years and was a member of VFW of Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Janice D. Dawson Whipkey; two daughters, Victoria Dvorak of Cleveland and Angie Frederick of Big Bend; four sons, Chad Whipkey and Ken Whipkey, both of Cleveland, John Whipkey of Grantsville and Jim Whipkey of Parma, Ohio; one brother, Michael Whipkey of Cleveland; two sisters, Alberta Fisk of Elyria, Ohio, and Rachel Racela of Cleveland; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna J. Hartshorn. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Nobe cemetery, Nobe.

WHIPKEY, JANICE D.

Janice D. "Sally" Whipkey, 58, of Big Bend, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1994, in Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, following a brief illness. She was born at Freed, daughter of Della Morehead Dawson and the late Cecil H. Dawson. She was the former owner of Grantsville Hotel and Restaurant and the owner of High Rise Pizza, Big Bend. Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Victoria Dvorak of Cleveland, Ohio, and Angie Frederick of Big Bend; four sons, Donald C. Whipkey, Jr., and Kenneth Whipkey, both of Cleveland, Ohio, John Whipkey of Grantsville and James Whipkey of Parma, Ohio; two sisters, Georgia Smith of Cleveland and Boots Richards of Grantsville; five brothers, Jack Dawson of Grantsville, Gene Dawson of Euclid, Ohio, Sam Dawson of Atlanta, Ga., Larry Dawson of Five Forks, and Lanny Dawson of Millstone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Whipkey, Sr., on Aug. 26, 1994. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Nobe cemetery, Nobe.

WHITE, DONALD K.

Donald K. White, 68, of Elgin, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994. He was born in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Everett and Maple Keith White. He was employed by Hoskins Manufacturing. An Air Force veteran of WWII, he was a member of VFW Post 1153, Charlevoix, Mich. Surviving are a son, Leon E. White of Columbia; a daughter, Donna Brun of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Joann Saleet of Lakewood, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Temple Baptist Church, with Dunbar Funeral Home in charge of services.

WHYTSELL, PAUL E., SR.

Paul E. Whytsell, Sr., 83, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, July 5, 1994 at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late George and Mima Starcher Whytsell. He retired from W. Va. Dept. of Highways, and was a former member of Minnora IOOF Lodge. He attended Stoney Point Church, near Arnoldsburg. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Winnie Sapp Whytsell of Grantsville; one son, Paul E. Whytsell, Jr., of Grantsville; one daughter, Marie Honaker of Arnoldsburg; one sister, Ella Boatright of Mt. Zion; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Husk cemetery, near Arnoldsburg.

MILLS, EFFIE

Effie Mills, 99, of Munday, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995, at Steubenville Convalescent Center, Steubenville, Ohio, following a long illness. Born in Wirt County, she was a daughter of the late G.W. and Anna Slater of Munday. She was a life long resident of Wirt County and was a homemaker. Surviving are 11 grandchildren, Lenora Tingler and Annabell Poling, both of Weirton, Ondrell Maze of Mauriceville, Tex., Wayne Jenkins, Joann Evans and Linda Goodnight, all of Munday, Nedra Miller of Florida, Norris Hayhurst of Wintersville, Ohio, Debra Nice of Chester, Larry Mills and Jerry Mills, both of Elizabeth; 22 great- grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren; and six great-great- great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Mills; two daughters, Elodene Jenkins and Elinor Hayhurst; one son, Estle Mills; and one grandchild, Sharon Hayhurst. Services were held at Bell Chapel Church, Munday, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Wolverton cemetery.

MOLES, JUNIOR E.

Junior E. Moles, 70, of Nicut, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at his residence after an apparent heart attack. He was born in Kanawha County, a son of the late Gilbert and Genelia Sheets Moles. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired carpet installer. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Kirk Moles; four daughters, Carol Campbell and Sherry Stewart, both of Elkview, Jean Stump of Chloe and Becky Henshaw of Creston, Ohio; four sons, Gilbert Moles of Spencer, Bruce Moles of Clayton, N.C., Mike Moles and Billy Joe Moles, both of Nicut; five sisters, Madeline Slack and Kathleen Mitchell, both of Elkview, Beulah Coffey of Chloe, Welda Jordan of Big Chimney and Pearl Haas of Naperville, Ill.; one brother, Daris Moles of Cross Lanes; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Moles. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Sheets cemetery, Frame, Kanawha County.

MOLLOHAN, BONNIE

Bonnie Mollohan, 62, of Parkersburg, formerly of Cremo, died Monday, Feb. 27, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Cremo, a daughter of the late Rome and Grace Cross Board. She was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters, Thelma Mollohan and Doris Mollohan, both of Parkersburg, and Connie Mollohan of Martinsburg; two sons, Denzil Mollohan and Stephen Mollohan, both of Canton, Ohio; one sister, Betty Walker of Grantsville; two brothers, Walter Board and Bruce Board, both of Elyria, Ohio; and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Wright cemetery, Creston.

MOLLOHAN, HAZEL

Hazel Mollohan, 78, of Floe, Clay County, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 1995, at Roane General Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Clay County, a daughter of the late Enoch and Dealie Yost Santy. She was a retired postmaster of Floe Post Office. Surviving are her husband, Roy O. Mollohan; three sons, Bobby Mollohan and Buddy Mollohan, both of Chloe, and Billy Mollohan of Strange Creek; one brother, Dorsel Santy of Akron; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Johnson; and one brother, Glen Santy. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Darius Arnold officiating. Burial was in Sears cemetery, Nebo.

WHYTSELL, WINNIE B.

Winnie B. Sapp Whytsell, 82, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1996, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care. She was born in Rocksdale, a daughter of the late William R. and Jessie Price Sapp. She was a former employee of Kellwood Co., Spencer, and was a former foster grandmother at Arnoldsburg Elementary School for 10 years. She attended Stoney Point Methodist Church near Arnoldsburg. Surviving are one son, Paul E. Whytsell, Jr., of Grantsville; one daughter, Marie Honaker of Arnoldsburg; one sister, Retta Conley of Lexington, Ohio; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Whytsell, Sr.; one son; and one grandson. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Husk cemetery near Arnoldsburg.
