COLE, BERNARD DALE

Bernard Dale Cole, 43, of Big Springs, died Monday, Mar. 13, 1995, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Ohio, a son of Charlotte Cole of Waterloo, Ohio, and the late Clifford Cole. He was employed by Simmons Beautyrest Corp., Grove City, Ohio. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Regena Cole; one daughter, Juanita Cole of Waterloo; one stepson, Timothy Tallhammer of Big Springs; one stepdaughter, Samantha Conley of Arnoldsburg; and three sisters, Dottie Nelson of Ironton, Ohio, Betsy Shields of Gary, Texas, and Jaunita Hatfield of Waterloo. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Orma United Methodist Church cemetery.

COLLINS, HOLLY

Holly Collins, 84, of Lockney, died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, at Americare Nursing Home, Glenville, after an extended illness. He was born in Lockney, a son of the late W. F. and Florence Minney Collins. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown. Surviving are one brother, Ores Collins of Lockney; one sister, Monnie Boggs of Stumptown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Services were held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with Rev. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial was in Collins Community cemetery, Stumptown.

CONLEY, PATRICIA ANN

Patricia Ann Conley, 49, of Chloe, died Thursday, July 6, 1995, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after an extended illness. She was born in Doddridge County, a daughter of the late Earl and Geneva Hope Hicks Blake. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving are her husband, Graves Conley; and three brothers, Bill Blake of Nitro, Jim Blake of Madison and Mike Helmick of Charleston. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Minnora cemetery, Minnora.

COOPER, WILBUR M.

Wilbur M. Cooper, 79, of Vienna and Palestine, died Tuesday, April 4, 1995, in the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, after a brief illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Zanis O. and Maude Burrows Cooper. He was a Wirt County High School graduate, and attended Morris Harvey College. He had retired from Union Carbide as a furnace operator with more than 26 years of service, and had been employed by Mountain State Steel for 14 years. He was a lifelong resident of Wirt and Wood Counties and an active 25-year member of the Owl Club. He was a member of 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna, and attended Elizabeth Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Myrtle G. Sheppard Cooper; one son, Harold Gene Cooper of Mineral Wells; two daughters, Deloris Ann O'Dell of Vienna and Janet Sue Burnfield of Vincent; one brother, Jesse Cooper of Charleston; two sisters, Dorcas Smith of Vienna and Mary Vaught of Charleston; two half-sisters, Kate Huffman of Vienna, and Gladys Kirk of Belpre; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Cooper, Everett Cooper and Lori Cooper; one sister, Flora Pierson; and one stepgrandson. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Evangelist Tom D. Butterfield, Evangelist Ronald D. Laughery and Evangelist Eugene Conger officiating. Burial was in Sayre cemetery, Palestine.

COTTRELL, JAMES

James Cottrell, 87, of College Road, Syracuse, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995, in St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, son of the late William and Lucy Carr Cottrell. He was a retired carperter, and he attended the Nazarene Church, Syracuse. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Monnie Flo Vannoy Cottrell; two sisters; and one brother. Services are scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy, Ohio, with Rev. Lemar O'Bryant officiating, and burial will be in Grave Hill cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio.

COTTRILL, MONA COOK

Mona Cook Cottrill, 84, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital, after a sudden illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Cary J. and Lotie Whipkey McCartney. She attended Calhoun County schools. She was a homemaker and attended Camden Avenue Church of Christ. Surviving are three sons, Carl F. Cook of Boaz, Charles R. Cook of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Cecil F. Cook of Belpre; one stepson, Homer "Bud" Cook of Marietta; one stepdaughter, Annabelle Coss of Marietta; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; several step- grandchildren; one brother, Carl McCartney of Parkersburg; and four sisters, Goldie Campbell, Mildred Battin, Ruby Grogan and Freda Keeper, all of Parkersburg. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer E. Cook, in 1960; her second husband, Andrew Cottrill; two brothers, Judson McCartney and Clarence "Jake" McCartney; and two sisters, Mary Dunlap and Monie Queen. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Brian Harrell officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery.

CROSS, MAMIE M.

Mamie M. Cross, 94, of Nebo, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Ida Morris Cadle. She operated a store at Nebo for many years and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Alta Matthews of Baltimore and Merle Hensley of Nebo; two sons, Don Cross of Measury, Ohio, and Dorse Cross of South Charleston; two sisters, Rosie Rogers of Michigan and Roxie Arnold of Charleston; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Cross; one daughter, Wilma Postalwait; one brother, Dude Cadle; and two sisters, Lula Coen and Eugee Alba. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Postalwait cemetery, Chloe.

CUNDIFF, EDRA POLING

Word has been received of the deaths of Edra Poling Cundiff, 81, in July, and Elenor Poling Rhodabarger, 86, in October, both of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They were born in Grantsville, daughters of Waitman and Ella Keener Poling. Surviving are a sister, Mildred Poling Stevens of Cuyahoga Falls, and a brother, Vernon Poling of Florida. They were descendants of Michael Stump IV, pioneer family of Calhoun County.

CUTLIP, BAILEY L.

Bailey L. Cutlip, 77, of Toana, Va., died Monday, Jan. 2, 1995, after a sudden illness. He was born in Sycamore, the son of Emery C. and Maude Poling Cutlip. He was a Christian and attend church in Virginia. He was a retired employee of the City of Alexandria, Va. Surviving are two sons, Donald and John Cutlip, both of Morgantown; one daughter, Jeanette of Fairmont; one sister, Edith Haag of Sand Ridge. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Azeline and Madeline. Arrangements were incomplete. Services will be held at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Morgantown, and burial will be in Nicholson cemetery, Morgantown area.

DAGGETT, CORA ALICE

Cora Alice Daggett, 75, of Parkersburg, died Friday, Feb. 17, 1995, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Myrtle Delphia Radcliff Lott. She had worked at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, at the Masonic Home, and at the Clam House in Parkersburg. She was a life-long homemaker. She attended Summit Valley United Methodist Church, had been a member of Seventh Street U.M. Church, and was a member of King's Helpers Class at Seventh Street U.M. Church. Surviving are one daughter, Alice Pando of Parkersburg; one son, Robert P. Daggett of Charleston; three grandchildren; three brothers, Charles R. Lott and James E. Lott, both of Williamstown, and Earl J. Lott of Florida; and one sister, Tbelma Lott of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darlington Daggett; one sister, Ruby B. Brown; one brother, Arthur Lott; and one sister, Margaret Lott. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Jeff Nolte and Rev. G. Frank Plybon officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove cemetery.

DAILEY, EDWARD C.

Edward C. Dailey, 79, of Smithville, died Friday, Oct. 13, 1995, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Yellow Creek, a son of the late Herbert and Myrtle Deem Bailey. He was a coal miner, and had retired from Commercial Hydraulic, Shinnston. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Conn Hardman Dailey; one daughter, Judith A. Snider of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Helen Bee of Clarksburg; two stepsons, Billy Hardman of Smithville, Ohio, and Edward Hardman of Dalton, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Patricia Jane Dearth of Parkersburg; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. Burial was in Lumberport cemetery.

DAWSON, WILLIAM G.

William G. Dawson, 61, of Creston, died Thursday, June 15, 1995, at Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Gilbert and Cocoe Richards Dawson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 3rd Armored Division. He was a former employee of Ford Motor Co., Bedford, Ohio, and retired from O. Ames Co., Parkersburg, with 25 years of service. He was a member of Grantsville VFW. Surviving are two daughters, Kelly Grogg and Deidre Reddick, both of Nobe; two sisters, Eula Jenkins of Vienna and Edith Haddox of Kentucky; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lesley Dawson; one brother, Harold Dawson; and one sister, Hilda Wilson. There were no services or visitation.

DENNISON, MADGE

Madge Dennison, 85, Rt. 5, Parkersburg, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Homer and Lummie Elizabeth Beam Kuhl. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She retired from U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. in 1959. She lived in Nicolette Since 1939. Surviving is a daughter, Jo Ann Hefner of Parkersburg; one granddaughter, Suzanne Hefner Carroll of Parkersburg; one grandson, John Mark Hefner of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Nicole Carroll of Parkersburg and John Greer Kuhl Hefner of Denver. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wayford Dennison; and one brother, Hayward Kuhl. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. J. C. Foster officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

DETTMAN, DONALD E.

Donald E. Dettman, 59, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1995, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Piqua, Ohio, a son of Geraldine P. Dettman of Troy, Ohio, and the late Lewis Carl Dettman. He was a graduate of University of Cincinnati and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Co. as a quality assurance manager. He was a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, Eureka Lodge #40 AF&AM, Order of Eastern Star, and Lions Club, all of Grantsville. He was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies and Osiris Shrine Temple, both of Wheeling. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award by Lions International for dedicated humanitarian services. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Edna Dettman; one daughter, Sheryl Stevens of Big Springs; one son, Scott Dettman of Grantsville; two step-daughters, Lillian Richards of Nobe and Jackie Bates of Spencer; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Dettman, in 1982. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Kenneth Heiney officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
