DEULEY, ARTHUR J., SR.

Arthur J. "Art" Deuley, Sr., 92, of Mt. Zion, died Monday, July 31, 1995, at his son's residence in Mt. Zion after an extended illness. He was born in Crooked Fork, Gilmer County, a son of the late Samuel and Martha Jenkins Deuley. He retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Co. after 26 years of service and was a member of Lower Run Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Howard Scott Deuley of Cedarville, Robert Gerald Deuley and Arthur James Deuley, Jr., both of Mt. Zion; one daughter, Wanda Knotts of Orma; one brother, Robert George Deuley of Elyria, Ohio; one sister, Ora Wilson of Glenville; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Frances Deuley, in 1972; two sons; two daughters; three brothers; and five sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James G. Johnson officiating. Burial was in Lower Run cemetery.

DEULEY, ROBERT G.

Robert George Deuley, 83, of Valley City, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1995, in Southwest General Hospital, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, after a short illness. He was born in Lockney, a son of Samuel Deuley and Elizabeth Jenkins Deuley. He lived in Lorain County for many years and worked at Larson Foundry, Grafton, Ohio, for 27 years and retired in 1974. He was commander and member of Hinkson and Hysell VFW Post #3341, Grafton. Surviving are three daughters, Donna Yeager of Grafton, Paulette Sowers of Valley City, and Imogene Parker of Parkers-burg; two sons, Roger Deuley and Rick Deuley, both of Elyria, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Orie Wilson of Glenville. Local relatives are June Deuley and Gerrel Deuley of Mt. Zion, Scott Deuley of Weston, and Wanda Knotts of Spencer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, in 1968; four sisters, Stella Metz, Omie Danley, Esta Harris, and Locie Deuley; three brothers, Edgar Deuley, Curtis Deuley, and Arthur Deuley, Sr.; and special friend, Ruth Smalley. Services were held at Blackburn Funeral Home, Grafton, with Rev. James Gordon officiating. Burial was in Nesbett cemetery.

DEWEESE, GORDON

Gordon Deweese, 73, of Chloe, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, at his residence of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Milo, a son of the late B.C. and Emily Bailey Deweese. He was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Transmission Co. Surviving are his wife, Alma Madeline Jarvis Deweese; three sons, Roger Deweese of Belle and Forrest Deweese and David Deweese, both of Chelyan; three daughters, Rondella Bradley of Easley, S.C., Cindy Louise Bennett of Chloe and Beverly K. Hughes of Chelyan; two brothers, Donzel Deweese of Chloe and Ronzel Deweese of Spencer; one sister, Goldia Deweese of Chloe; 14 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and one step-grand-child. He was preceded in death by one son, Camden Deweese, in 1967. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Kenneth Cooper officiating. Burial was in Fink cemetery, Minnora.

DeWITT, THEODORE, SR.

Theodore "Ted" DeWitt, Sr., 67, of Marietta, died Wednes-day, Sept. 13, 1995, at his residence of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Martin and Viola Slider DeWitt. He was a machinist with Dravo Corp., retiring in 1982. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 477 of Marietta and the AMI Group. He was on the advisory board of Washington County Vocational School Machinist Trades and was a judge of machinist trades at the school. He was a former member of Washington County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services-317 Board. He had been a T-ball coach and a coach of girls' softball teams, and a former umpire in men's softball. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a veteran of Ohio National Guard. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Ruth White DeWitt; three daughters, Dianna Burkhard of Springfield, Ohio, Debra Dillon of Williamstown and Donna Hall of Marietta; three sons, Theodore "Ted" DeWitt, Jr., and Thomas C. DeWitt, both of Marietta, and Terry DeWitt of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Martin DeWitt. Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marietta, with Monsignor Edward Kakascik officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park.

DICKEY, RAY

Ray Dickey, 68, of Rosedale, died Sunday, May 28, 1995, at his residence after an apparent heart attack. He was born in Clay County, a son of the late Weldon and Nora Jane Sampson Dickey. He was an oil field worker. Surviving are five sons, George Dickey, Rockey Dickey and Stoney Dickey, all of Nicut, Kenneth Dickey of Byesville, Ohio, and Herbert Dickey of Rosedale; four daughters, Wanda Cottrill of Rosedale, Colleen McKown of Arnoldsburg, Polly McKown of Blairsville, Ga., and Teresa Miller of Frametown; two sisters, Tressie McCoy of Nicut and Mable King of Orma; one half-sister, Ona McCumbers of Mt. Zion; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dickey, in 1992. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with burial in Orma cemetery, Orma.

DOBBINS, ARLENE

Arlene Knotts Dobbins, 72, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1995, at Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, Va. She was born in Orma, a daughter of the late Earl and Lola Keith Knotts. She was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Howard Dobbins; one daughter; two sons; one grandson; four brothers; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Knotts. Services were held at Cunningham Funeral Home, Alexandria. Burial was in Quantico National cemetery.

DOBBINS, ARLENE

Arlene Knotts Dobbins, 72, of Alexandria, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1995, at Mt. Vernon Hospital, Alexandria. She was born in Orma, a daughter of Lala Keith Knotts of Arnoldsburg and the late Earl Knotts. She had retired from St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, with many years of service, and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Howard Dobbins; one daughter, Barbara Jones of Alexandria; two sons, Harold Dobbins and Charles Dobbins, both of Alexandria; one grandson; four brothers; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Knotts. Services were held at Cunningham Funeral Home, Alexandria. Burial was in Quantico National cemetery.

DOWELL, BYRON T.

Byron T. Dowell, 23, of Mt. Zion, died Wednesday, June 21, 1995, of accidental drowning on the New River near Pulaski, Va. He was born in New Mexico, a son of Chester and Nellie Yukiko Dowell of Mt. Zion. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and Marshall University. He was a graduate student at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va. Surviving are his wife, Caryn Swann Dowell; one brother, Michael Dowell of Mt. Zion; one sister, Alisa Dowell of Berkeley, Calif.; paternal grandparents, Art and Roxie Dowell of Pritchitt, Colo; and maternal grandparents, Yukihoru and Momoko Niji of Millville, N.J. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

DULEY, HERBERT A.

Herbert Auston "Herb" Duley, 81, of Parkersburg, died Fri-day, Sept. 15, 1995, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late George and Alverta Wells Duley. He retired from Tri-City Drilling Co., Belpre, in 1983 after 52 years of service in the oil and gas fields of West Virginia, Ohio, Washington, and Kentucky. He was a Protestant. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Hall Duley; one daughter, Cora Leona Hudson of Dunbar; two sons, Charles H. Duley of Bremerton, Wash., and Jerry A. Duley of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Kenneth Duley of Charleston, Ill.; two sisters, Elenora Welch of Five Forks, and Genieve Kight of Youngstown; a half-brother, Arnold Yoke of Broomstick; two half-sisters, Betty Smith of Parkersburg and Ruby Jean Godfrey of Pettyville; 14 grand-children; and several great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrl Duley. Graveside services were held at Evergreen North cemetery with Ted Crouch officiating.

DUNCAN, CORA

Cora Duncan, 84, of Arnoldsburg, died Monday, Oct. 30, 1995, at Roane General Hospital. She was born in Beech, a daughter of the late Henry Clark and Saphrona Sears Bailey. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving are two daughters, Freda Tucker of Arnoldsburg and Thelma Mallett of Vero Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Savannis Duncan, in 1982; one son, Savannis Duncan, Jr.; and one grandchild. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Homer Hensley officiating. Burial was in Bailey cemetery, Minnora.

DUSKEY, FLODA L.

Floda L. Duskey, 85, of Beverly, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 15, 1995, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charles and Laura Arthur Richards. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Joy Fellowship Church. Surviving are seven sons, Albert Duskey, Jr., Jerry Duskey, Roger Duskey, Russell Duskey, David Duskey, Terry Duskey and Steve Duskey, all of Beverly; two daughters, Jean Funk of Beverly and Rita Vorhies of McConnelsville, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elva Thomas of Lowell and Golda Swires of Akron, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Duskey, Sr., in 1977; three sisters, Dollie Richards, Martha Snyder and Zelma Simonton; and one granddaughter, Teresa Duskey. Services were held at Faith Joy Fellowship Church, Ohio Rt. 83 near Hackney, Ohio, with Rev. Gary Combs officiating. Burial was in Smith Chapel cemetery.

DYE, LONA MAY

Lona May Dye, 87, of Parkersburg, formerly of Leachtown, died Monday, Jan. 23, 1995, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late John and Frona Cunningham Dye. She was a member of Vaught's Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Juanita Mace of Parkersburg; one granddaughter, Karen Dent of Parkersburg; two great-granddaughters, Kelly Dent and Kara Dent, both of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, 1 p.m., at Vaught's Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wilbur Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Vaught's Chapel cemetery. Visitation, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and at the church, noon to 1 p.m., Thursday.

DYE, WILLIAM M.

William M. "Bill" Dye, 85, of Big Springs, died Monday, April 24, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Freed, a son of the late George W. and Prantha A. Raybuck Dye. He retired from Haught Drilling Co., Smithville, and was a former janitor at United Manufacturing Co., Harrisville. He was the former owner and operator of Dye's Ashland Service Station, Smithville, and Big Springs Truck Stop, Big Springs. He was a volunteer fire warden for Northern Calhoun County, and a Protestant. Surviving are his wife of 66-1/2 years, Ruth Eagle Dye of Big Springs; one son, James M. Dye of Ellenboro; three daughters, Doris Williams of Parkersburg, Edith Haught of Smithville and June Haught of Big Springs; two sisters, Cokie Turner of Zanesville, Ohio, and Edith Barr of Frazeysburg, Ohio; four brothers, Bennie Dye of Parkersburg, Shirl Dye of Dresden, Ohio, Everett Dye of Big Springs and Ernest Dye of Leachtown; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Goodnight cemetery, near Big Bend.
