EAGLE, LARRY G.

Larry G. Eagle, 53, of Walker, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Holley and Minnie P. Richards Eagle. He was employed by O'Ames Co., Parkersburg, for the past 29 years and was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of Parkersburg. He was a member of Blue Lodge, AF&AM, Mt. Olive 3, and Parkersburg Eastern Star 140. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Betty L. Edgell Eagle; one brother, Holley D. Eagle, Jr., of Mt. Zion; two stepsons, Ronnie Westfall of Wooster, Ohio, and Terry "Butch" Westfall of Alaska; five stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elenora Parsons Buck. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman and Rev. William Snider officiating. Burial was in Goodnight cemetery, near Big Bend, with Masonic rites.

EAGLE, OPAL K.

Opal K. Eagle, 84, of Spencer, died Friday, July 14, 1995, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late David Reason and Esther Wallace Kirby. She was a former aide at Spencer State Hospital. Surviving are one stepson, Sherman Rex Eagle of Shreve, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Eagle. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Husk cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

EASTON, CARL E., JR.

Carl E. Easton, Jr., 29, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Thursday, April 27, 1995, at Jacksonville. He was born in Grantsville, a son of Mildred Collins Nelson of Jacksonville and the late Carl E. Easton, Sr. He was a 1985 Harrisville High School graduate, and was employed by Porter Plastics, Jacksonville. Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Shala Easton of Calif.; one brother, Johnny Richards of Grantsville; three sisters, Brenda Williams of Grantsville, Rose Ann Wells of Jacksonville and Carla Easton with the U.S. Army in Germany; Step-father, Gene Nelson of Jacksonville; two stepbrothers, David Nelson and Rickie Nelson, both of Jacksonville; two stepsisters, Mary Ann Thompson and Ruby Nelson, both of Jacksonville; paternal grandparents, Pheba Easton of Harrisville and Irene Collins of Grantsville. Services were held at Frazier Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Additional services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at MacFarlan Community Church, MacFarlan, with Rev. Charlene Spaur officiating, and burial in Nutter cemetery, MacFarlan.

EGGEMAN, ROBERT

Robert J. "Bob" Eggeman, 62, of Orrville, Ohio, died Thursday, May 4, 1995, at Akron City Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Marshallville, son of the late Charles D. and May Young Eggeman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a gunners mate aboard the USS Helena and had worked at Westinghouse Corp., Orrville, as an assembler for 33 years. For the past six years he had worked in the maintenance department of Boys' Village, retiring in March of this year. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 282, Orrville, and was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Forty & Eight, Orrville Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose Lodge, Orrville. He had served as a troop leader for Troop 111 Boy Scouts of America in Orrville and was Scouter of the Year in 1980 Killbuck District. Surviving are his wife, Lenora Alfred, whom he married in West Virginia in 1957; two sons, R. John of Apple Creek and Rodney A. of Orrville; one daughter, Brenda Yates of Wooster; two grandchildren; four brothers, Glenn of Mansfield, Dale of Smithville, Carroll and Gary, both of Marshallville; one sister, Jean Steiner of Massillon; and a good friend, Chloe Alfred of Orma. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne; and one sister, Helen Devore. Services were held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Johnson officiating, and burial in church cemetery.

ELLIOTT, ROBERT W.

Robert W. "Tuck" Elliott, 70, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Paul F. and Mae Stump Elliott. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center where he taught automotive technology. He was a former employee of the Calhoun Super Service automotive department for 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Guin Robinson Elliott; one son, Mike Elliott of Eleanor; two daughters, Bobi Wilson of Parkersburg and Nancy Waggoner of Wilmington, N. C.; one brother, Doyle Elliott of Greenburg, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy Wise of Bridgeville, Pa.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Elliott; and one sister, Jodie Elliott. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William Taylor officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

KERBY, M. MARIE

M. Marie Kerby, 61, of Pennsboro, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 1996, at her residence. She was born at Mt. Zion, a daughter of the late Holly G. and Elizabeth Gibson Kerby. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsboro. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Rev. M. Gene Kerby; one son, Randall Gene Kerby of Pennsboro; twin daughters, Sharlene Bailey of Cross Lanes, and Darlene Phillips of Vienna; three brothers, Robert Kerby of Bon, Ohio, William Charles Kerby of Mt. Zion and Foster Kerby of Spencer; two sisters, Pauline Duskey of Canvas and Sue Kerby of Ripley; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Kerby. Services were held at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Rev. Kermit Poling officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive cemetery, Hur.

KIGHT, DOYLE

Doyle Kight, 79, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Henry and Hattie Burrows Kight, Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Penn Central Railroad. He was an avid sportsman. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Kight; chosen daughter, Judy Kelley and husband Al of Cleveland; sister, Florence Kight Knight of San Antonio, Tex.; granddaughter, Dana Kelley of Cleveland; nephews, Forrest Dale and Robert Kelley of Michigan; nieces, Maxine Kelley Boling of Florida and Barbara Knight Albers of Texas; cousins, Willard Burrows and others. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Sowder Kight, in 1969; and a sister, Dola Kight Kelley, in 1953. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

KING, JUANITA LEE

Juanita Lee King, 69, of Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 1996, at Roane General Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late George and Ava Powell King Bush. She attended Albert's Chapel United Methodist Church, Sand Ridge, and Arnoldsburg United Methodist Church. Surviving are one sister, Patty Mitchell of Arnoldsburg; one brother, Allen King of Jersey City, N.J.; two nieces, Jill Skaggs of Arnoldsburg and Tina Helton of Knoxville, Tenn.; and three great- nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, George Earl King. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Sand Ridge cemetery, Sand Ridge.

KIRBY, PHYLLIS SUE

Phyllis Sue Kirby, 71, of Bramblewood Village, died Saturday, April 13, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Bostic, N.C., a daughter of the late John H. and Vera J. Rushbrook Whitaker. She attended Clear Creek Bible College in Pineville, Ky. She was a former elementary school teacher at Hollywood, Fla., and former swimming and physical fitness instructor. She was a member of Steward's Creek Community Church. Surviving are her husband, Rev. D.L. Kirby; one daughter, Betty Milam of Arnoldsburg; two brothers, Jerry E. Whitaker of Lebannon, Va., and Franklin Boyce Whitaker of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; four sisters, Doris B. Jessee of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Virginia D. Lynch of Rutherfordton, N.C., Margaret G. Wilson of Punta-gorda, Fla., and Ruth L. Savage of Miami, Fla.; and one grandson. Services were held at Victory Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. Mike Worf and Rev. Donzel Wease officiating. Burial was in Broomstick cemetery, Five Forks.

KIRBY, TRESSIE

Tressie Kirby, 86, of Big Bend, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 1996, at her residence. She was born in Walton, a daughter of the late Wiley B. and Susie Summers Paxton. She was a stenographer and secretary for Veterans Administration, Washington, D.C., and was a member of Garden Presbyterian Church, Washington. Surviving are one brother, Joe Paxton of Maysel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Kirby. Services were held at Bryner Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Bryner Chapel cemetery.

KNIGHT, KATHERINE L.

Katherine Lynn Knight, 39, of Grantsville, died Friday, Aug 2, 1996, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, following a brief illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of Russell W. and Gladys F. Fredrick Duskey of Grantsville. She had attended Calhoun County High School. She was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving in addition to her parents are a daughter, Jessica Lynn Knight of Grantsville; one sister, Kay Marks of Grantsville; . one brother, Joseph R. Duskey of Tanner, a niece, Stacy Church two nephews, Frank Hickman and Joey Duskey; two great-nieces: Kayla and Samantha Church; a brother-in-law, Larry Marks; a sister-in-law, Madeline Duskey; and aunts and uncles, George and Ellen Hardman and Earl and Odell Wilson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Mabel Duskey and French and Cora Fredrick; an uncle, Clyde Duskey, and an aunt, Golda Knight. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Taylor cemetery, near Big Bend.

KNOTTS, ROBERT J., JR.

Robert J. Knotts, Jr., 87, of Steer Creek Community, Stumptown, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 1996, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Euclid, a son of the late Robert J. and Lillie M. Mace Knotts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Class of 1930. He was retired from White Motor Co., Cleveland, Ohio, and was a member of United Auto Workers of Cleveland. He was also a former school teacher in Calhoun County, owned and operated a car agency in Grantsville, and was a former self-employed mechanic in Grantsville. He was a member of Rush Run Baptist Church, Stumptown, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Bible Class Teacher. He was a charter member of Calhoun County Historical and Genealogical Society and was recognized as one of the area's authorities in local history. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Collins Knotts, whom he married in 1935; two sons, James Earl Knotts of Mineral Wells and Thomas Mark Knotts of Corning, N.Y.; one daughter, Norma Jean Shaffer of Grantsville; one brother, Walter Knotts of Massillon, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Sharon Lynn Shaffer, Norma Jean Shaffer Schroader, Carol Ann Shaffer Myers, Roberta Jo Shaffer McKee, Aleacia Jolette Knotts Peer, Christopher Jay Knotts and Adam Brett Knotts; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Strimple, Daisy Stump and Pansy Kanyak; three brothers, William Bryan Knotts, Russell "Dubb" Knotts and Henry E. Knotts; and two infant grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Knotts Baptist Church cemetery, Orma.

LAMB, HAROLD FREDERICK

Harold Frederick "Fred" Lamb, 58, of Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Belington, and former resident of Philippi, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in Broaddus Hospital. He was born at Douglas, a son of the late Henry Clay and Marjorie Margaret Witte Lamb. He was a welder and mechanic for Barbour Coal Co. He retired with a medical disability in 1983. He was a member of United Mine Workers. He served with the U.S. Army in 1950 with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers and was a Protestant by faith. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lea Ferrell Lamb; two daughters, Tonya Caloggero of Baltimore, Md., and Susan Springer, Courtie, Ontario, Canada; one son, Mark Lamb of East Liverpool, Ohio; two sisters, Virginia Carr of Madison and Ivalou Bourne of Fairmont; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. The body was cremated and services were held at Wright Funeral Home, Philippi, with Rev. Bill Fowler and Rev. Calvin Ferrell, Jr., officiating.
