Shirley R. Mace, 50, of Calhoun Homes, Mt. Zion, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 1994, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of Ermal M. Westfall of Grantsville and the late Park Westfall. Surviving in addition to her mother are one son, Richard Mace II of Vienna; one daughter, Jamie Fluharty of Smithville; one brother, Scottie Westfall of Grantsville; and four grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating, and burial to be in Mt. Zion cemetery.
MARKS, SMITH
Smith (Midnight) Marks, 90, of Lower Salem, Ohio, died Monday, May 16, 1994, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born in Shock, W. Va. He was a retired miner and farmer. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Tuttle Schoolcraft Marks; one daughter, Kathleen Alberti of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, D. R. Schoolcraft and Frederick, both of Ellenboro, N. C., and William Schoolcraft of Shelton, Wash.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services were held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
WILLIAMS, BRENDA S.
Brenda Sue Williams, 46, of Stafford, Va., formerly of Big Springs, died Thursday, July 14, 1994, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va., after an extended illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of Churl Hathaway Scott of Big Springs and the late Wesley B. Scott. She received a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and a master's degree from University of Virginia. She was a teacher at Spotswood Elementary School, Spotsylvania County, Va., and a member of Regester Chapel United Methodist Church, Stafford, where she was a pianist. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Thomas G. Williams, Jr.; a son, Scott Williams of the home; and a daughter, Whitney A. Williams of the home. Services were scheduled on Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating, and burial in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Josephine B. Williams, 77, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Mar. 24, 1994, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late W. W. and Bessie Riggs Bower. She was a former telephone operator for Citizens Telephone Co. and West Virginia Telephone Co. She was a former employee of W. Va. Dept. of Highways. She was a member of Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church, past president of American Legion Auxiliary of Grantsville, an honorary member of the Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps. She was a former member of Calhoun Ridge Riders Club, was a senior citizen aide for Calhoun County Community Action Association, and served as a Boy Scout mother for 11 years. Surviving are one son, Mike Williams of Grantsville, and two sisters, Eleanor Johnson of Parkersburg and Zella Roberts of Akron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie Williams; one daughter, Barbara Jo Williams; eight brothers; and five sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Big Bend cemetery.

Meryle Irene Shaffer Williams, 76 of Cutler, Ohio, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994, at her residence. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of Pearl Goodnight Shaffer of Laramie, Wyo., and the late Russell Shaffer. She was a homemaker and attended Liberty United Brethren Church. Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Williams; two sons, Paul E. Williams, Jr., of Cutler and Paulis Williams of Dayton; two daughters, Pauletta Sue Anderson of Houston, Texas, and Paula Lee Whittern of Mustang, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Overman of Laramie and Eleanor Deweese of Charleston. She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson. Services were held at Matheney Funeral Home, Chesterhill, with Rev. Robert Irvin officiating. Burial was in Bartlett cemetery.

Clancy H. Wilson, 93, of Creston, died Monday, Dec. 19, 1994, at Fairview Manor Nursing Home, Beverly, Ohio, after an extended illness. He was born at Little Creek, Calhoun County, a son of the late William H. and Sarah Ann Boice Wilson. He was a former school bus driver in Wirt County and was a well-known merchant, farmer and timberman. He attended Little Creek Community Church near Creston. Surviving are one son, William Albert Wilson, Sr. of Creston; one foster daughter, Ollie Boise of Belpre; two sisters, Annabelle Morrison and Hazel Dean Rushton, both of Fairmont; a grandson, William Wilson, Jr., of Annamoriah; three granddaughters, Barbara Fluharty of Annamoriah, Cathy Heiney of Grantsville, and Carol Lynch of Creston; two foster grandchildren, Ola Boise and Allen Boise, both of Belpre; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Gene Knight officiating.

Robert Charles Hunt, 58, of Elizabeth, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Charles and Erma Anderson Hunt. He retired from Local Union 132 as an operating engineer. He was a member of AARP and Charleston American Legion Post 200. He attended Landmark Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois E. Clyde Hunt; four sons, Robert Wayne Hunt and Brian Hunt, both of Parkersburg, Russell Hunt of Elizabeth and Daniel W. Hunt of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Carolyn Lamp of Elizabeth, Brenda Schrebe of Rockport and Crystal Hunt of Elizabeth; six grandchildren; three brothers, Lowell T. Hunt of Palestine, Jesse Hunt of Maryland and James Hunt of Kentucky; and two sisters, Juanita Armstrong and Jean Royston, both of Odenton, Md. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. David Freshour officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Albert Husk, 85, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at Miletree Health Care Center, Spencer, after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Jessie and Alice Craddock Husk. He was a former employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Akron, and of Cabot Corp., Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Geneva Bennett Husk; two daughters, Wilma Bell of Grantsville and Deloris McCartney of Chester; three sons, Robert Husk and Howard Husk, both of Akron, and William Husk of Guernsey, Ohio; one stepson, Ray Wade of Akron; and two brothers, Lennie Husk and Grant Husk, both of Grantsville. Donald L. "Chub" Husk, 59, of Grantsville, died Monday, Mar. 28, 1994, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Cremo, a son of Goldie Funk Husk of Barboursville and the late Ellis Husk. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the Calhoun County Board of Education, having served as a bus driver and custodian at Pleasant Hill Elementary. He was a former custodian at Grantsville Post Office. Surviving in addition to his mother are one son, Stephen L. Husk of Little Creek, Va.; and two brothers, Gary Husk of Barboursville and Robert Husk of Ronceverte. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Wright cemetery, near Mount Zion.

Jerry Ray James, 44, of Glenville, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 1994, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, after an extended illness. He was born in Glenville, a son of Eva R. James of Glenville and the late Alamander James. He was an auto mechanic. Surviving in addition to his mother is one brother, Jack James of Glenville. Mary Dye Watson, 92, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late John K. and Sarah Jane Prince Dye. Surviving is one niece, Dorothy Fowler of Grantsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Watson. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Gerald Morgan officiating. Burial was in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.
WEAVER, ARDEN G.
Arden Glenn Weaver, 59, of Tanner, died Friday, July 28, 1995, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of Alma Williams Weaver of Tanner, and the late Myrth Weaver. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and later served in the National Guard. He served as a police officer in Akron for several years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 7, in Akron, and Police and Firefighters Retirees of Ohio, Chapter 25. He was a 1954 graduate of Barberton High School, Barberton, Ohio. He was Protestant. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Barbara Lang Weaver; two daughters, Deborah Lee Dockus of Medina, Ohio, and Carla Ann Sivard of Doylestown, Ohio; one son, Rick Weaver of Nicut; one sister, Maxine DeLancey of Parkersburg; and four grandchildren. The body was cremated. No services or visitation were held.

Roger D. Weaver, 52, of Pettyville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 1995, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Ritchie County, a son of the late Ray and June Smith Weaver. He was an employee of Tebay's Dairy, and attended Wirt County schools. He was a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Pierce Weaver; one son, Tracy Weaver of Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters, Lucinda Weaver of Parkersburg, Melissa Nelson of Clearwater, and Katie Weaver of Pettyville; two stepdaughters, Christine Yates of Parkersburg and Lisa Morrison of Pettyville; one stepson, Roger Morrison, Jr., of Pettyville; one brother, Richard Weaver of Elizabeth; four sisters, Betty Valentine of Elizabeth, Thelma Fluharty of Leachtown, Geneva Maxson of Long Bottom, Ohio, and Cheryl Villers of Annamoriah; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Weaver. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Raymond Ray officiating, and burial in Pine Twist cemetery, Wirt County.
WEST, ANNE H.
Anne H. West, 74, of Stow, Ohio, died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, after an extended illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Frederick and Bessie Stalnaker Hardman, and was a lifetime resident of the Akron area. She graduated from Calhoun County High School, and received her B.S. from Salem College and M.S. from Madison University. Member of The Chapel in University Park, she had spent time in six European countries to compare office machinery and procedures; touring Europe to investigate taaching methods. She retired in 1989 as Professor Emeritus of Business Office Technology from University of Akron, where she served as secretarial area coordinator, project director and senior instructor in two Akron-Summit-Medina CETA Secretarial Training Programs; developed Word Processing Option in secretarial area; served on University Council as secretary and member of procedural committee for two years; served on electronic typewriter committee and word processing committee; and other committees; acted as chair of many for Community and Technical College; and served as C&T College representative to the president for the 1983-84 school year. Her professional activities included acting as consultant for Summit County Court of Appeals and for Akron Beacon Journal, and teaching individual development programs for Akron Business and Professional Women. She was nominated for Northeastern Ohio Business Teacher of the Year Award, appeared in Women's History Week first edition of Who's Who in the Akron Business and Professional Women/USA member for 1983-84 having served on state committees. Her membership in professional organizations included serving as past president and individual development chair of Akron Business and Professional Women; past finance chair, Delta Kappa Gamma (honorary); past W. Va. state work affairs chair, Business and Professional Women; past president, Clarksburg Altrusa Club; charter member and director, Association of Information Specialists Professionals, Akron/Canton Chapter; member, Akron Area Business Teachers Assoc., Ohio Business Teachers Assoc., National Business Education Assoc., Akron Assoc. of University Professors, and American Assoc. of University Women. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jane West of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Fritz Warren of Akron; grandsons, Paul and Logan West; granddaughters, Lisa and Jennifer Warren; sister Betty Ross of Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews; cousins, James E. Morford of Grantsville and Eleanore Brannon of Arnoldsburg; and a very close friend, Ola Jarvis Stalfort of Grantsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. West, after 18 years of marriage; one son, Ken; and an aunt, Martha Hall. Services were held at West Hill Baptist Church, Akron, with Pastor Gary Moosey officiating. Burial was in Glendale cemetery.
