Jacob David Wyant, 82, of Arnoldsburg, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Beckley, after an extended illness. He was born in Ovapa, a son of the late Letch Samples and Hannah Wyant. He was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Horners Fork Freewill Baptist Church, Procious, Clay County. Surviving are one foster daughter, Barbara Shamblin of Lockney; one half sister, Mabel Pringle of Boone County; two half brothers, Richard Samples of Widen and Charlie Schoolcraft of Procious; five grandsons; and five granddaughters. Services were held at Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Clover cemetery, near Spencer.

Kizzie B. Yeager, 86, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late William H. and Lona Westfall Bush. She was a homemaker, and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, near Grantsville. Surviving are three sons, Franklin Yeager and Park Yeager, both of Grantsville, and Robert Yeager of Grafton, Ohio; four daughters, Mary W. Montgomery of Akron, Catherine Stevens, Dot Curry and Sandy Funk, all of Grantsville; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ottie E. Yeager, in 1994; three sons; and one daughter. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Yeager-Westfall cemetery, near Grantsville.

Ottie Earl Yeager, 92, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late Granville and Florinda Sullivan Yeager. He was retired from Larson Foundry in Grafton, Ohio, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Kizzie Bush Yeager; three sons, Franklin Yeager and Park Yeager, both of Grantsville, and Robert Yeager of Grafton; four daughters, Mary W. Montgomery of Akron, and Catherine Stevens, Dot Curry, and Sandy Funk, all of Grantsville; one brother, Ervin Yeager of Stouts Mills; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, four sisters, and four brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Yeager-Westfall cemetery, near Grantsville.

Victor G. Yoak, 58, of Big Bend, died Monday, Oct. 24, 1994, on Stutler Road near Annamoriah in an auto accident. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late John W. and Eva Richards Yoak. He was a U. S. Navy pilot in Vietnam War and was a well-known area livestock farmer. He was a member of Calhoun County Farm Bureau and VFW, Grantsville. Surviving are four brothers, Clifford Yoak of Parkersburg, Ralph Yoak of Renaldo Beach, Calif., Ronald Yoak of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Herb Yoak of Munday; and four sisters, Garnett Chemesky and June Cunningham, both of Wickliffe, Ohio, Betty McVaney of Clarksburg and Beverly Robinson of Jonesboro, Ga. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Stanley Clark officiating. Burial was in Yoak cemetery, Big Bend.

Pearl E. Zimmerman, 63, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 4, 1994. She was born in Tariff and had been a resident of Cuyahoga Falls since 1960. She was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Surviving are her husband, Harry; a daughter, Sandy Mayhew of Cuyahoga Falls; her mother, Hazel Brannon; a sister, Myrtle Grace Carpenter; and a brother, Richard Brannon, all of West Virginia. Services were held at McGowan-Reid & Santos Funeral Home, Cuyahoga Falls, with Pastor Roland E. Coffey officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Melba Dutch Barker, 83, of Grantsville, died Friday, Dec. 9, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Henrietta, a daughter of the late Oak and Esther Wagoner Gainer. She was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators of Grantsville and was a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Surviving are two daughters, Thelma Weekley of Grantsville and Ann Kwasnicki of Carson City, Nev.; two brothers, Frank Gainer of Grantsville and George Gainer of Bloomingdale, Ohio; three sisters, Clara Smith of Elba, Ohio, Louise Rusnak of Bloomingdale and Gladys Bower of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Jarvis; her second husband, Creed Barker; one daughter, Bernice Hustead; and one son, Troy Jarvis. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Elma Barr Barnes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville, Surviving are one daughter, Jeanie Smith of Grantsville; one sister, Pauline Barnes of Grantsville; three brothers, Clyde Barnes of Vienna, Bill Barnes, and Ralph Barnes, both of Parkersburg; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by Thurl Barnes. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Grace E. Barr, 87, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Arnoldsburg, died Friday, Mar. 11, 1994, at Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late George and Esther Smith Gibson. She was a homemaker and belonged to Stoney Point United Methodist Church, Arnoldsburg. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Wilson of Bellview, Wash., and Gretchen Robertson of San Diego, Calif.; one son, Burns Barr of Texarkana; one sister, Jewell Partin of Fort Pierce, Fla.; one brother, Delbert Scott of Akron, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Starling N. Bartlett, 71, of Big Bend, died Saturday, Mar. 19, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Dekalb, Gilmer County, a son of the late Rev. N. H. and Daisy Garton Bartlett. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 71st Air Engineer Squadron in the Pacific Theater. He was a former employee of Glen L. Martin Co., Baltimore, Md., and served as an associate at Holbert Store Co., Big Bend, for 23 years. He was former director of the Calhoun County Community Action Association and a past president and 11-year member of the Calhoun County Board of Education. He was on the board of directors for Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center and belonged to Eureka Lodge #40, AF&AM, of Grantsville, Charleston Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies and Nemesis Temple of Parkersburg. He belonged to Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church, Big Bend, where he served on the board of deacons for 38 years, was a Sunday School teacher for 47 years and served as church clerk. He was a youth advisor for the Little Kanawha Association of American Baptist Churches for three years and a member of the Giddeons International. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Holbert Bartlett; one son, Tom Bartlett of Spencer; one daughter, Karen Altizer of Sand Ridge; four brothers, William E. Bartlett of Huntington, Ray Bartlett of Big Springs, Eugene P. Bartlett of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Harley Bartlett of Logan; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Services were held at Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Christian and Rev. Fred Sparks officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

Opal Jane Bower, 82, of Evans, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 1994, at Jackson General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Stalnaker Williams. She was a homemaker and attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Surviving are six sons, Forest C. Bower, Jr., of Sullivan, Ohio, Marvin Bower of Ravenswood, Kenneth Bower of Cleveland, Richard Bower of Canton, Jesse Bower and Mitchell Bower, both of Evans; seven daughters, Phyllis Lewis and Sharon Harden, both of Louisville, Ohio, Gloria King and Beverly King, both of Evans, Janet Clark of Ravenswood, Shirley Lieving of Grove City, Ohio, and Roberta Sue Prouty of Johnstown, Ohio; one brother, Alva Williams of Vienna; one sister, Irene Stevens of Lorain, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest C. Bower; one son, Roger Bower; three brothers, Hale Williams, Holly Williams and Albert Williams; and two sisters, Gladys Williams and Millie Dee Holbert. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with Rev. Orville Walker officiating, and burial to be in Bethlehem cemetery, near Grantsville.

Wanda J. Bowers, 59, of Elizabeth, died Thursday, Sept 1, 1994, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late James and Ernie Burrows Saunders. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Guy M. Bowers: one son, Billy Ray Bowers of Vienna; one stepson, Erwin M. Bowers of Slate; one stepdaughter, Fern Dickele of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one sister, Opal Malley of Grantsville. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John Boggs, Orville Saunders, Chester Saunders and James J. Saunders; and seven sisters, Roxie Holbert, Ruby Ross, Lois Hines, E. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Elliott and Icy May Stutler Starcher. She worked at American Viscose and St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. She was a member of Crooksville Free Methodist Church. Surviving are one sister, Gladys Miller of Crooksville; two brothers, Charles Starcher of Akron and Virgil Starcher of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. Boyles; and five sisters, Evie Goff, Geneva Brannon, Eva Cross, Ora Wilson, and Nora White.
