KENNEDY, JUNIOR R.

Junior R. Kennedy, 77, of Normantown, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Normantown, a son of the late Spurgeon C. and Daisy C. James Kennedy. He was a retired conservationist with U. S. Dept. of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Glenville, and was a prominent livestock farmer in Gilmer County for many years. He was a member of Grantsville Eureka Lodge No. 40, AF&AM, and Oak Grove Baptist Church, Normantown, where he served as church clerk. Surviving are his wife of 53 years. Garnet E. Kennedy; five sons, James Kennedy, Roger Kennedy and Scott Kennedy, all of Normantown, Kent Kennedy of Ripley, and Kevin Kennedy of Bruceton Mills; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Elder Charles Fisher and Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Normantown.

KERBY, HOLLY G.

Holly G. Kerby, 85, of Mt. Zion, died Friday, June 3, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Joseph and Jane Husk Kerby. He was retired from Calhoun County Board of Education. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church near Mt. Zion, Knights of Pythias, and Grantsville IOOF Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Beulah Mace Kerby; three daughters, Pauline Duskey of Canvas, Marie Kerby of Sandyville and Sue Kerby of Ripley; three sons, Robert Kerby of Barberton, Ohio, William "Tap" Kerby of Mt. Zion and Foster Kerby of Spencer; two step-daughters, Robin Wayne of Grantsville and Cynthia Shaffer of Hartville, Ohio; one brother, Fred Kerby of Grantsville, three sisters, Elah Gibson of Mt. Zion, Lucille Basnett of Big Bend and Helena Bennett of Elyria, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Gibson Kerby, in 1966, one daughter, three brothers, and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Hur cemetery, near Mt. Zion.

KIMBLE, HETTIE B.

Hettie B. Kimble, 88, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1993, at Central Park Village, Orlando, after an extended illness. She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Ella Hamilton Carpenter. She was a former 45-year resident of Parkersburg, and was retired from Corning Glass, Parkersburg, after 23 years of service. Surviving are her husband, William O. Kimble; one daughter, Rose Ella Moore of Mason, Ohio; one son, William Fredrick Kimble of Orlando; one brother, Bryce Carpenter of Parkersburg; two sisters, Myrtle Jane DePue of Spencer and June Seabolt of Chardin, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, With Rev. Jerry Bush officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.

KING, HOMER

Homer King, 91, of Windham, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1994, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, Aug 13, 1902, a son of the late William and Sarah (Lane) King. He previously was a farmer and in the lumber business. He was a resident of Windham for 10 years. Surviving are a son, Elbert King of Windham; a foster son, Gregory Jones of Windham; a daughter, Jacqueline Bailey of Garrettsville; a brother, Coy of Glenville; a sister, Roxie of Rosedale; eight grandchildren; and six great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Greta K. King, in 1990; three brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, Garrettsville, with J. W. Board officiating. Burial was in Windham cemetery.

KING, OCIE

Ocie King, 68, of Shock, died Monday, July 18, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Clay County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Sampson. She had attended Frozen Chapel Baptist Church, Shock. Surviving are three daughters, Emogene Cottrell and Sharon Sue King, both of Shock, and Lyda Dye of East Liverpool, Ohio; four sons, Dwight King, George King and Delbert King, all of Shock, and Larry King of Front Royal, Va.; one sister, Hallie Ryder of Nicut; three brothers, Homer Sampson of Shock, Kirt Sampson, and David Sampson, both of Parkersburg; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Cottrell cemetery.

KING, ROBERT L.

Robert L. King, 68, of Lower Nicut, Orma, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Jerry and Ora Vankirt King. He was a retired longshoreman at Lake Erie Docks of Cleveland. He was a member of Fairview Methodist Church, Orma, and was a life member of West Fork Riding Club. Surviving are his wife, Virginia M. King; four daughters, Irene Carter of Nicut, Loretta Lamb of Tampa, Fla., Nancy Craddock of Rittman, Ohio, and Brenda King of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, David King of Old Hickory, Tenn.; one brother, Lester King of Orma; four sisters, Icy Hudson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Goldie Campbell of Belpre, Ellen Laffree and Mary Reynolds, both of Vienna; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence King, two brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Ed Moore officiating. Burial was in King cemetery, Nicut.

KING, RUBY E.

Ruby E. King, 71, of Chloe, died Sunday, May 22, 1994, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness. She was born in Clay County, a daughter of the late Perry and Ida Truman. She was a member of Walker Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, George O. King of Canton, Roy Lee King of Scio, Ohio, and Doy King of Louisville, Ohio; five daughters, Edna Stevens of Canton, Virginia Poluska of Janesville, Wis., and Kay Croston, Ruby Metheney and Reta Greathouse, all of Chloe; two sisters, Jessie Holcomb and Sybil Parsons, both of Clay; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Sevices were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Paul Parsons officiating, and burial to be in Murphy cemetery, Chloe.

KIRBY, HAZEL M.

Hazel M. Kirby, 74, of Smithville, died Monday, Mar. 28, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Nathan and Belle Bennett. She was a homemaker and cared for several elderly people in her home. She was a Methodist. Surviving are one son, Robert Kirby of Five Forks; one sister, Margaret Jenner of Smithville; one granddaughter, Christy Ann Kirby of Five Forks; and one grandson, James Thomas Kirby of Five Forks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kirby, in 1974; one daughter, Edith Virginia Kirby; three brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Lawson Whipkey and Rev. Art Spring officiating. Burial was in Hardman Chapel cemetery.

KNOPP, LOUGENE

Lougene "Gene" Knopp, 62, of Boaz, died Saturday, June 4, 1994, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Nicut, a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Hicks Sampson. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Mountain State Business College, and St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She had been employed by Worthington Manor Care Center. She was a member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Delmar Wayne Knopp; two sons, Gary Knopp of Williamstown and Michael Knopp of Eutawville, S.C.; three daughters, Janet Cooper of Holly Hill, S.C., Rebecca Kimble of Grantsville, and Shari Carder of Big Bend; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Homer Sampson of Shock, Curt Sampson and Dave Sampson, both of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Hallie Mae Reider of Nicut and Ocie King of Shock. Services were held at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery North.

LARRISON, EULA E.

Eula E. Larrison, 82, of Belpre, died Friday, June 17, 1994, at Worthington Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Howard and Minda Anderson Brannon. She taught in Ohio school systems for 35 years, retiring from Belpre Schools. She had taught in Little Hocking, Layman, Akron, and in Calhoun County. She attended North Parkersburg Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mary J. Larrison and Emily A. Larrison, both of Belpre; two sisters, Leah Sturm of Millsboro, Del., and Bertie Haugh of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and one brother, Lenna Brannon of Beeville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil F. Larrison, in 1987 and a half-brother, Harvey Brannon. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Conrad Lowe officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

LAYFIELD, WANETA V.

Waneta Virginia Layfield, 69, of Harrisville, died Thursday, May 19, 1994, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lottie Cox Wilson. She was a homemaker and the co-owner of Layfield Building Supply. She was a 1944 Cairo High School graduate and a Baptist. Surviving are her husband of more than 49 years, Richard H. Layfield; two sons, Delbert Layfield and H. Gary Layfield, both of Harrisville; two daughters, Elaine Ausbrooks of Vienna, Va., and Glenna Enoch of Harrisville; five grandsons; five granddaughters; and one first cousin who was raised in the home, Fleeta Cunningham of Harrisville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Burlis Wilson and Corlis Wilson; one foster sister, Ona Haught; and one great-granddaughter, Victoria Holbrook. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. O. D. Harman officiating. Burial was in King Knob cemetery.

MAY, MARLYN

Marlyn May, 7-month-old son of Gary C. and Veronica Tanner May of Spencer, died Tuesday, Mar. 29, 1994, at Women & Children's Hospital, Charleston, after an extended illness. Surviving in addition to his parents are four brothers, Mike Burgess of Gandeeville, Rodney May of Harmony, Scott May and Greg May, both of Spencer; paternal grandmother, Elva May of Harmony; maternal grandparents, Albert and Frances Tanner of Arnoldsburg; and paternal great-grandparents, Orvil Starcher and Otie Starcher, both of Ivydale. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Ronel May. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks and Rev. Darius Arnold officiating. Burial was in Zion Hill cemetery, Elana.

MAZE, BELVA

Belva Maze, 82, of Munday, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 1994, at the Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Wirt County, daughter of the late Leonard and Della Watson McIntyre. She was a member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church and Wirt County Senior Citizens. Surviving are three sons, Billy Maze of Akron, Ohio, Eugene Maze of Munday, and Jim Maze of Palestine; one daughter, Wilma Jean Starcher of Oil City, Pa.; a sister Elmira Hayes of Fairmont; and a grandson she raised, Roger Maze of Munday; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Maze in 1989; two sons, Bernard, Jr., and Harold Cline Maze; three brothers; and five sisters. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth, with Rev. Robert Robirds officiating, and burial to be in Belt cemetery, Munday.

McCOLLUM, MAMIE C.

Mamie C. McCollum, 89, of Berea, Ohio, formerly of Millstone, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 1994, at Southwestern Hospital, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late John T. and Maggie Wood Crawford. She was a cottage parent at United Methodist Children's Home in Beaea. Surviving are three sons, Robert E. "Bob" McCollum of Fairview Park, Ohio, Roy Samuel McCollum of Berea and John "Jack" McCollum of Willoughby, Ohio; two daughters, Frances Starkey of Berea and Shirley Mace of Millstone; three borthers, Earl Crawford of Grantsville, Don Crawford of Barberton, Ohio, and Berlin Crawford of Evans; three sisters, Edra Hoskins of Mogadore, Ohio, Tressie Church of Arnoldsburg and Beatrice Shaffer of Millstone; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval S. McCollum, in 1954; three brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
