STALNAKER, FLORA M.

Flora M. Stalnaker, 83, of Tanner, died Friday, Feb. 11, 1994, at Worthington Manor Care Center, Parkersburg. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Frank and Roxie Blosser Connolly. She taught school in Wood and Gilmer counties. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Tanner. Surviving are one son, Bantz Stalnaker of Tanner; two daughters, Grace Stalnaker of Salem and Dollie Eaton of Vienna; one brother, Roy Connolly of Davisville; four sisters, Mabel Bennett and Grace Nichols, both of Grantsville, Frankie Mowery of Creston and Virginia Tolle of Barberton, Ohio; one half sister, Ellie Duskey of Mt. Zion; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bantz Stalnaker, in July 1993; one brother; four sisters; two half-brothers; and one half- sister. Services were held at Stumptown Baptist Church with Rev. Lorous Roberts officiating. Burial was in Collins Community cemetery, Stumptown.

STALNAKER, NANCY

Nancy Stalnaker, 76, of Spencer, died Friday, June 24, 1994, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late John and Anna Mae McKown. She was a retired employee of Gordon Memorial Hospital and was a member of Fairview Church in Calhoun County. Surviving are two daughters, Zelda Goodwin and Jean Kelley, both of Ashland, Ohio; two sons, Charles Stalnaker of Palestine and Stanley Stalnaker of Spencer; three sisters, Vada Brannon of Akron, Ohio, Dessie Greathouse of Spencer, and Geraldean Hall of Ashland; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark M. Stalnaker; one brother, and six sisters. Services were held at Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. John Bowen officiating. Burial was in Slate cemetery near Spencer.

STANLEY, STELLA E.

Stella E. Stanley, 91, of Vienna, died Friday, Feb. 18, 1994, at Care Haven of Pleasants County. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late S.M. and Ida Cunningham. She was a representative for Stanley Home Products, a former employee of American Viscose and a former school teacher. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are one daughter, Garnet Ortli of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Stan McPherson of Vienna and Shirley Lanier of Columbus; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Stanley, in 1969; one great-granddaughter; one brother; and two sisters. Services were held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Harvey Thomas officiating. Burial was in Farson cemetery, Murphytown.

STARCHER, HOWARD H.

Howard Hays Starcher, 52, of Mineral Wells, died Saturday, Mar. 5, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Dennis and Golda Roberts Starcher. He was an employee of Ames Co., Plant No. 2, for the past 24 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the steelworkers union. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Sue Cornell Starcher; two daughters, Chris Whytsell of Mineral Wells and Jennifer Allen of Charleston; three grandsons; one brother, Charles Starcher of Parkersburg; and one sister, Lois Davis of Mineral Wells. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Jerry T. Cook officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

STARCHER, MELVIN H.

Melvin H. Starcher, 88, of Millstone, died Monday, Aug. 29, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, Grantsville. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Allen B. and Icie M. Duval Starcher. He was a farmer. Surviving are four sisters, Opal Nitz of Barberton, Ohio, Beulah Burden of West Salem, Ohio, Justine Miller of Spencer and Nina Boatright of Norton, Ohio; and three brothers, Delbert Starcher of Barberton, Richard Starcher of Charlotte, N.C., and Denver Starcher of Middlebourne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Blake Starcher; four brothers; and one sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery, Millstone.

STARCHER, ROY G., SR.

Roy G. Starcher, Sr., 61, died Sunday, May 15, 1994. He was born in Grantsville, son of the late Isaac and Bessie Starcher, and lived in the Akron area for the last 50 years. He was employed with the Village of Lakemore for 25 years, was a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Army & Navy Garrison 273 and Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son and daughter-in-law, Roy, Jr., and Karen of Akron; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Gene Taylor and Sandy and Jim Monk, all of Lakemore, Robin and Ken Larrick of Albany, Ohio, Teresa and John Hornsby of Akron; sisters, Margaret and Garnet; brothers, Harold, Tuck, Arnold, Bob, Ron, and Jim; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held at Hopkins and Lawver Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Joseph B. Serbin officiating. Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park.

STARCHER, RUTH E.

Ruth E. Starcher, 95, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 1994, at her daughter's residence after an extended illness. She was born at Arnoldsburg, a daughter of the late William E. and Nancy Masters Anderson. She had spent most of her life in Roane County and had spent 27 yers of her life in Monroe County, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters, Leno Ash, Thelma Griffin and Faye Hibbs, all of Parkersburg; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one brother, Victor Anderson of White Sulphur Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lital Starcher; one brother; and one sister. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Don Yeager officiating. Burial was in Clover cemetery, Roane County.

STARKEY, HOMER E.

Homer E. Starkey, 92, of Big Bend, died Friday, July 15, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Roane County and was a retired oil field worker. Surviving are two sons, Homer Starkey of Melbourne, Fla., and Larry Starkey of Marietta; and two brothers, Harry Starkey of Las Vegas and Karl Starkey of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hiram Starkey and John Starkey. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend.

STARKEY, PANSY

Pansy Trippett Starkey, 90, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, at her son's residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Lemuel and Icy Shimer Trippett. She was a homemaker, and a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are one daughter, Vivian Manson of Parkersburg; one son, William B. Starkey of Grantsville; one sister, Gladys Marshall of Grantsville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman Starkey; and one sister, Ethel Ferrell. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. John L. Smith officiating, and burial in Barr cemetery, near Millstone.

STEVENS, CHARLES A.

Charles A. Stevens, 50, Grantsville, died Saturday, May 14, 1994, at Calhoun General Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Maxine Pierce of Waverly and the late Adron E. Stevens. He operated Grantsville's Water Purification System and was a former survey crew chief for W. Va. Dept. of Highways. He was a member of Bee Creek Hunting Club and St. Paul United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Propst Stevens; a daughter, April Miller of Richmond, Va.; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Leigh Miller of Richmond. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating, and burial to be in St. Paul cemetery, Grantsville.

STEVENS, ROBERT E.

Robert E. Stevens, 65, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late John F. and Virginia Violet Stout Stevens. He was retired from the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, U.S.A.F., and from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a charter member of Calhoun County Historical and Genealogical Society, and was an Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are his wife, Joy Morgan Stevens; two sisters, Guila Hayward of Yuma, Ariz., and Patricia Fessenden of Portsmouth, R.I.; and one brother, Richard Hoyt Stevens of Portsmouth, R.I. Services were held at Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Elder Melvin Stewart officiating. Burial was in Morgan Family cemetery, near Arnoldsburg, with Elder Andrew Mazon officiating.

STUMP, ALTA M.

Alta M. Stump, 86, of Grantsville, died Friday, April 8, 1994, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Laurel Run, Gilmer County, a daughter of the late George W. and Janie Weekley Conklin. She was co-founder and operator of Garland's Grocery, Grantsville, since 1947. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are one son, Michael Stump of Vienna; three daughters, Emogene Boggs of Norton, Ohio, Marjorie Gherke and Susan Nutter, both of Grantsville; 21 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Stump; one son, Roxel Stump; two brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

STUMP, ALVIN

Alvin Stump, Jr., 74, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 1994. He was born in Rocksdale, the son of Alvin and Maude Cooper Stump. He lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio. He was a retired self-employed painter and a U. S. Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife, Helena; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Ralph Huhm, Joyce Corbett, Janet and Jerry Seeman, all of Akron; sisters, Mame Lowe, Emma Jean Brubaugh, both of Akron, Evelyn Kirby and Pauline Mace of Grantsville; brother, Leon Stump of Enterprise, Ala.; and grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, and Benjamin Seeman. Services were held at Hennesy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, Tallmadge Chapel, with Rev. David Zachrich officiating. Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park.

STUMP, BEULAH

Beulah Stump, 85, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1994, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Russett, a daughter of the late Homer and Maude Boone Robinson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are two brothers, Cleo Robinson of New Cumberland and Paul Robinson of Grantsville; and one sister, Emegean Hartshorn of Grantsville. Services were officiated by Rev. James Pearson. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery, Millstone.
