Howard Coker, 66, of North Tazewell, VA, died Feb. 16, 2004 at North Tazewell.
Born March 6, 1937 in Logan, WV, he was a son of the late James Edward Coker and Gracie Mae Watts Coker.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a disabled coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Coker, and one granddaughter, Christina Clifton.
Survivors: wife, Julia Coker; son, James Mullins of Jarrett; daughters, Joyce Viars of Grundy, Sally Boardwine of Springville, Shirley Tibbs, Margie Large, Patricia Butler, and Gracie Sluss, all of North Tazewell; brother, Roy Coker of Tazewell; sisters, Imogene Coker and Nurrie Coker, both of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Joe Gross officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Feb. 18 from 6-9 p.m.
Margaret Joyce Moore
Margaret Joyce Moore, 92, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Tazewell, died Feb. 9, 2004 at Rockford Manor in Louisville.
She was born in Bluefield, WV to the union of Sherman and Nellie Harris Joyce.
She completed her education in the Tazewell County Schools. She was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Thomas Moore on Nov. 4, 1931 and to that union four children was born, three daughters and one son.
She was a devout Christian who touched many hearts. She was a member of the First Baptist Church until she moved to Holly Town and then became a member of Wilbur Memorial United Methodist Church for the remainder of her life.
She was affiliated with several organizations: she served as president of the United Methodist Women for 25 years, the RSVP Senior Citizens Group in Tazewell, and the Senior Nutrition Group of Louisville; she also attended South Jefferson Christian Church of Louisville. She was an elegant lady and homemaker. When she became too ill to go to church, she loved to listen to her gospel music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Thomas Moore; two daughters, Susan Arlene Moore and Nellie Davenport; three brothers; and one sister.
She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory: daughter, Margaret Bowers and husband, James, of Louisville; son, Samuel Moore, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Detroit, MI; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Dr. Janice Harris and the Rev. Robert Buckles officiating.
Nancy Sayers Workman, formerly of Bluefield, WV, died in Spring Valley, CA, Feb. 12, 2004.
She was a former member of Trinity Methodist Church, a graduate of Beaver High School, employed by Bluefield Supply, was Comptroller of Leatherwood Company, and Accountant for Bailey Lumber Company.
In addition to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Robert Sayers of Bluefield, WV, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Breed of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Those remaining to cherish her loving memories are her devoted husband, Robert of 57 years, daughter, Robin Sosa and husband, Rusty, of Spring Valley, CA; son, Brad and wife, Cindy, of Panama City, FL; granddaughter, Erin Price Lucy of Richmond; grandsons, Robert Steven Price of Richmond, and Kelsey Shaver of Spring Valley. Also, three sisters, Margaret Sayers of St Augustine, FL, Barbara Cook and husband, Roy, of Keller, TX, Harriet Beavers and husband, Bernard, of Tazewell; brother, Robert E. Sayers of Erlanger, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary in Lemon Grove, CA, Feb. 19.
Entombment will be at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery, Pt. Loma, San Diego. CA.

Roberta (Bobbie) Hilton
Roberta (Bobbie) Hilton, 74, of Lewisburg, WV, died Jan. 16, 2004 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, WV, following a long illness.
Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Wallace and Olive Mae Nearhood Smith.
She was a retired secretary for the Upper St. Clair, PA, school system.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene T. (Pinky) Hilton, and one sister, Juanita Jessee.
Survivors: son, Gene T. (Tiff) Hilton, Jr. and wife, Martha, of Lewisburg, WV; brothers, W.B. (Burton) Smith of Canfield, OH, Harry L. Smith of Lynchburg, Robert Dale Smith of Richlands, Kenneth D. Smith of Florida; and grandsons, Gene T. Hilton, III, Marshall Hilton and Zachary Hilton.
A memorial service was conducted Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Stewart Farley officiating.

John M. Collins
John Mark Collins, 43, of North Tazewell, died Jan. 28, 2004 at a Tazewell hospital following a brief illness.
Born at Bartley, WV, he was the son of the late Rev. Bud Collins and Mattie Helton Collins.
He had spent most of his life at War, WV, and had made his home at North Tazewell for the past seven years. He was a graduate of Big Creek High School.
He was a construction worker and was employed with Selco Seeding and Construction Co. of Swords Creek. He was a Sky Warn Spotter for the National Weather Service and a Weather Watcher for WVVA’s weather program. He was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Christine Gail Riley Hicks, 58, of Tazewell, died Jan. 27, 2004 at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Howie Mitchell in Tazewell.
Born in McDowell County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Claude and Lona Almedia Sparks Riley.
She had made her home in LaGrange, IN, and worked at Nishikawa Standard Company in Topeka, IN, before returning to Tazewell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Riley Delida and brother-in-law, Ralph Delida.

Glen "Pete" Young, Jr.
Glen Elwood "Pete" Young, Jr., 49, of Squire, WV, died Jan. 29, 2004 at his home following a brief illness.
Born at Richlands, he was a son of Glen Elwood Young, Sr., of Squire, and the late Betty Jean Beavers Young.
He had made his home in Squire his entire life. He attended Big Creek High School and was a disabled coal miner.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Arlene Eleanor Cline
Arlene Eleanor Cline, 78, of North Tazewell, died Jan. 12, 2004 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born at Pipestem, WV, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel Ward Neeley and Suzanne Bower Neeley.
She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors: husband, Thomas H. Sheri "Ginger" Trusilo
Sheri Vicki "Ginger" Trusilo, 57, of Crossville, TN, died Jan. 12, 2004 at a Crossville hospital.
Born at Welch, WV, she was a daughter of the late Hensel Senter and Stella Belcher Senter.
She was a loving mother and housewife. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors: daughters, Robin Trusilo of Crossville, Janet Simms of Bowling Green, MI; and son, Adam Trusilo and wife, Emily, of Germantown, MD.
Graveside services were held Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill with Brother Jody Bishop officiating.

Virginia Mae Wagner
Virginia Mae Wagner, 88, of Pilgrims Knob, VA, died Jan. 14, 2004 in a Richlands hospital following a long illness.
Born at Whitewood, she was the daughter of the late Cass and Mary Mullins.
She was a member of the Flatwoods Church of Christ Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Wagner, and one daughter, Myrtle Horn. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
Survivors: son, JC Wagner and wife, Mona, of Pilgrim Knob; son-in-law, Tommy Horn, of Richlands; grandchildren, James Wagner, Timmy Wagner, Duane Horn and Pam Horn; great-grandchildren, Jared Horn, Jennylee Horn, William Wagner and Kayla Wagner; step great-grandsons, Jamison Bowman and Scott Bowman; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and many friends who knew her as Maw Maw Jenny.
The funeral was conducted Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. in the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain with Evangelist Bob Smith and Pastor Buddy Herald officiating.
Burial followed in the Wagner-Mullins cemetery at Compton Mountain.
