George Washington 'Charlie' Steward, 82, of Springfield, WV passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, MD.
He was born August 14, 1922 in Springfield to the late William Newton Steward, Sr. and the late Elsie Caroline (Moreland) Steward.
Five brothers, Floyd Steward, William Steward, Jr. Howard Steward, Harry Steward and John Steward, one sister, Betty Maphis and one infant daughter, Charlene, preceded him in death.
Mr. Steward was a retired Iron Worker with Local 568, Cumberland, MD. A WWII Army Veteran, he was honorably discharged and later honored with the Normandy Diploma from the Republic of France in November of 2001.
He was a life member of Post 6667 VFW in Ft. Ashby and Presbyterian by faith. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and trout fish. He was a charter member of the Tri-Sate Coon Hunters Association.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of fifty-five years, Betty Katherine (Crock) Steward of Springfield, two sons Ray Steward and wife Donna of Springfield and Michael Steward and wife, Stacy of Springfield. He was the proud Grandfather to three grandchildren, Neal Steward, Stacy Nestor and Bryan Steward and three great grandchildren that he adored, Breanna, Lesley and Benjamin Nestor. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Nelson of Springfield and Cora Wendell and husband, Earl of Ft. Ashby and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home in Romney on Monday, March 14, 2005, 2- 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home in Romney with the Rev. Norman Landis officiating.
Interment will be at Wesley Chapel in Points, WV where a graveside military service will be accorded by VFW Post 6667 and the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hampshire County.

JAMES ROGER LAMBERT, SR
James Roger Lambert, Sr., 58, of Romney, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.
Born on September 7, 1946 in Romney, WV, he was the son of Wesley Lambert of Ft. Ashby, WV and the late Ruth (Shanholtz) McDonald Parks.
Jim was the owner and operator of Lambert's Ambulance Service, which he established in 1994 serving Eastern WV and North Central WV now having five offices.
He formerly owned the Alpine Theatre in Romney and the Seneca Theatre in Petersburg.
He served as a police officer for the City of Romney for sixteen years. He formerly owned Lamberts-Wilbert Vault Co. in Romney. He was a member of the Romney Fire Co., the 911 Advisory Board, EMS Coalition and the Hampshire County Emergency Medical Service. Mr. Lambert was also a member of the Romney Presbyterian Church.
A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Michelle (Staudt) Lambert of Romney; three sons, James R. Lambert, Jr. of Romney, Keith A. Lambert of Romney and Matthew A. Lambert of Romney; three daughters, Ruth Kesner of Keyser, Adora Williamson of Keyser and Torri I. Lambert of Romney; one step-brother, Buck Leedom of Cumberland, MD; 5 half-sisters, Patricia Lambert of Levels, Paula Howell of Cumberland, Audra Clark of Cumberland, Glenda Nealis of Cumberland and Wanda Hannaseki of Skagway, Alaska; one step-sister, Donna Lima of Fredericksburg, VA; and nine grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home in Romney on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Romney Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Norman Landis and Rev. Raymond Sterling officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service at 12:00 Noon.

JOHN IAQUINTA
John Iaquinta, 78, of Romney, WV died March 27, 2005 at Hampshire Center, Romney, WV.
Born March 31, 1926 in Morgantown, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur and Annie Mayles.
In addition to his parents, his second wife, Maria Iaquinta preceded him in death.
Mr. Iaquinta formerly owned a car dealership in Westover, WV.
His former wife, Mary Ann Pizatella of Fairmont, WV, two daughters, Brenda Iaquinta of Romney, WV and Sharon Iaquinta of Fairmont, WV; one brother, Sam Iaquinta of Fairmont, WV; and one sister, Ann Skelly of Naples, FL.
Interment will at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown where a private graveside service will be held with Father Harry Cramer, Celebrant.

FREDERICK 'FRED' WALTER WARNICK, SR.
Frederick "Fred" Walter Warnick, Sr., 54, of Romney, WV died Tuesday, March 29, 2005.
He is survived by his father H. Fred Warnick and wife Alice, of Westernport, MD. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Elaine Boal Warnick, July 27, 2001.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Frederick "Freddie" Walter Warnick, Jr., April 27, 1999.
Fred was a 1968 graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport, MD and a proud member of the l967 undefeated Bruce Bulldog football team. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Pittsburgh, Pa in l971. Upon graduation he joined the family owned Boal Funeral Home of which he became co-owner in l976. In 2000 Fred and Debbie purchased the Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney, which is now the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home.
Following a fire, which destroyed a large portion of Westernport's Main Street, Fred spearheaded a massive clean-up effort involving many business leaders and volunteers. Fred served as a director of the Westernport Revitalization Corporation in which he was in charge of re-development of the town. Established as a result of their efforts were the Port West Restaurant, WMHS Clinic, and a new attorney's office. Fred and Debbie organized, along with other Tri-Towns' citizens, the first annual Tri-Towns' Home Fest. Citizens have enjoyed this event for many years. While in Westernport Fred were a member of the Tri-Towns' Chamber of Commerce, charter member and past president of the Upper Potomac Jaycees, and past president of the Lonaconing Lions Club.
Most recently Fred was a member of the Hampshire Business and Professional Organization, the LOOM #1371, and past president and member of the Romney Rotary Club.
One of Fred's most rewarding activities was coaching his daughter, Tracie's Westernport Middle School Girls' Basketball Team to a winning season. Fred was named Outstanding Coach of the tournament. Fred also coached during the inaugural season of his son, Freddie's pee-wee football team.
Fred was founder and charter member of the Hidden Hollow Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra Ann (Trenum) Warnick, Romney, WV; one daughter, Tracie Ann Ward, and husband, Chuck, Mt. Lake Park, MD; one brother, Royce N. Warnick, and wife, Leslie, Mt. Lake Park, MD, two sisters, Doris Zais, and husband, Bill, Bloomington, MD and Sarah E. Poe, and husband, Rich, Bel Air, Cumberland, MD. "Pop Pop" is also survived by his two grandsons, Gunnar Charles Ward and Eli Frederick Ward, and his granddaughter Andie Nicole Ward all of Mt. Lake Park, MD.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney.
Services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bart Thompson and Dr. Roy Knight presiding. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Steven Roger Method, 50, of Romney, WV died on Monday, April 4, 2005 as a result of an accident near High View, WV.
Born June 26, 1954 in Cumberland, MD to the late Mary Alice "Polly" Method.
Steven had been employed as a foreman for Allegheny Power since 1973.
He is survived by one daughter, Alisha M. Method of Romney; one borther, Wayne Method of Romney; and several nieces and nephews.

DOROTHY SUE PARKER
Dorothy Sue Parker, 94, of Romney, WV died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney.
Born December 20, 1910 to the late Susan Rebecca (Fox) and Alfred Vause Parker.
In addition to her parents, her husband of more than sixty years, Forrest Parker; a brother, Peyton Parker; a sister, Nancy Jane Harmison and granddaughter, Jami Sue Parker also preceded her in death.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Parker was a true HOME-maker and friend to all. During her years at Hampshire Center, she offered support and caring comfort to everyone she encountered.
She was a member of the Romney First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth and wife, Nancy of Westminster, MD, Roger and wife, JoAnn of Shepherdstown, WV and James and wife, Kay of Burlington, WV; grandchildren, Christopher Parker and wife, Jennifer of Inwood, WV, Mary Jo Ward and husband, Michael of Fredericksburg, VA, Timothy Parker and wife, Trudy of Bunker Hill, WV; great-grandchildren Kalha, Hannah, Peyton and Owen Parker and Sean and Emily Ward; sisters-In Law, Sara Parker of Junction, Virginia Holsberry of Keyser and Marjorie Snyder of Winchester, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. Her friend and roommate, Anna Marie High and her very special friend, Cindy Middleton, also survive her.

Clarence Wilco Sneathen, 85, of Three Churches, WV died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the E. A. Hawse Continuous Care Center in Baker, WV.
Born January 14, 1920 at Three Churches, WV to the late Leslie and Edna (Fultz) Sneathen.
Mr. Sneathen was a farmer.
He is survived by one nephew, Jada Eugene Sneathen.
A graveside service will be conducted at Branch Mountain Methodist Church cemetery at Three Churches, WV on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Hott officiating.

MARGARET B. MILLER
Margaret B. Miller, 80 of Frederick, Maryland died October 11, 2004 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Maryland.
She was born September 21, 1924 in Gainesboro, Virginia to the late Arthur and Lula May (Kern) Purtlebaugh.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, George Yonley Newhouse and her second husband, Carroll Miller.
Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Shepherd College and taught school for a few years, before going to Capitol Hill where she served as secretary for Senator Morris. She most recently was employed as a sales representative for the Bon Ton in Frederick, Maryland until time of her illness.
She is survived by one son, David Newhouse and wife, Ann, New Market, Maryland; one brother, Doug Purtlebaugh, Winchester, Virginia; two sisters, Polly LaFollette, Gore, Virginia and Betty Anderson, husband, Lyndall, Gore, Virginia; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney on Friday, October 15 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p. m.

WILLIAM 'BILL' WAYNE BLACKBURN, JR
William "Bill" Wayne Blackburn, Jr., 47, of Augusta, WV died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 14, 1956 in Winchester, VA to Mary Lou (Malick) Blackburn of Augusta and the late William "Jack" W. Blackburn, Sr.
In addition to his father a daughter, Jessica Blackburn and paternal grandmother, Blanche M. (Bowman) Blackburn preceded him in death.
At the time Bill was diagnosed with cancer he was employed by Lantz Construction Co. in Winchester, VA.
He was a 1975 graduate of Hampshire High School and Baptist by faith. Bill was a fourteen year veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Grenada and also Desert Storm,a lifetime member of Wappacomo Post 1101 VFW of Romney, a member and past Commander of American Legion Post 91 of Romney and a faithful member of the Hampshire County Veterans Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by wife, Connie Jo (Barbee) Blackburn of Augusta; daughter, Megan Shoemaker and husband, Neal of Romney; two sisters, Dorothy Meadows of Augusta and Donna Hose and husband, George of Shanks; three grandchildren, Dylan Bowman, Taylor Shoemaker and Lakin Shoemaker of Romney; three nephews, Sgt. Joseph D. Smith, U. S. M. C. and wife Abbie of Jacksonville, NC, Holden Meadows of Shanks and Riesen Meadows of Augusta; one niece, Billie J. Lewis and husband Todd of Augusta; three great-nephews, Gavin and Garet Smith of Jacksonville, NC and Gage Lewis of Augusta.
