Herbert Hannah

Herbert Hannah, 91, of Lenore died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in South Williamson ARH Hospital.

Born Aug. 10, 1910, in West Virginia, he was a son of the late Wallace and Rebecca May Hannah.

He was a retired timberman.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Rose Hannah; four sons, Noah, Andrew, Ray and Larry Hannah, all of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Patterson of Blue Ridge, Ga.; two brothers, John and Flem Hannah, both of Columbus; one sister, Ada Jones of Hardy, Ky.; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in the Warfield Chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, with Harold Whitt officiating.

Burial will follow in Hannah Cemetery in Kermit.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the funeral home.

Wanda Harrison

Wanda B. Harrison, 82, of Crum died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky.

Born April 12, 1919, in Williamson, she was a daughter of the late George and Beatrice Williamson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Harrison.

She had worked for C&P Telephone Co. and B&L Furniture Company. She was a member of the Crum Missionary Baptist Church and started the Sunday School class at the Kermit First Baptist Church.

Survivors include special cousins, Arlin and Molly Starr of Clearwater, Fla., Margaret Evans of Chattaroy, Clifford Harrison of Hatfield, Ky., and Estil Nichols of Sheffield Lake, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in the Warfield Chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, with Don Matney officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Prichard, Don Newman, Alan Conley, Terry Farley, Charlie Spaulding and Freddy Frye.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the funeral home.

Maudie Stanley

Maudie Jane (Scott) Stanley, 83, of Hardy, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in the Skilled Nursing Facility at South Williamson ARH.

Born Nov. 17, 1918, in Hardy, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Polly "Sissy" Hatfield Scott.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Stanley; one son, Virgil Stanley Jr., and six brothers, Pete, Erman, Sherman, Charlie, John B. and Bankie Scott.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Narrows Branch Old Regular Baptist Church for 45 years.

Survivors include three sons, William Darrel Stanley of Cleviston, Fla., Eddie Lee Stanley of La Belle, Fla., and Larry Bruce Stanley of Hardy; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Varney of Jeffersonville, Tenn., and Betty Jane Ousley of Pikeville, Ky.; three sisters, Magdaline Blackburn of Hardy, Fern Brown of Ceredo-Kenova and Georgia Brown, address unknown; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Hatfield Funeral Chapel in Toler, Ky., with Elders Bobby Scott, Richard Staton, Hobart Hamilton and Lacy Walters officiating.

Burial will follow in Julius Scott Cemetery in Hardy.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the funeral home, with services scheduled for 7 p.m.

Leroy Garrison, Jr.

Leroy E. Garrison, Jr., 63, of Belfry, Ky., passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at his residence.

Born Jan. 15, 1938, in Lebanon, Mo., he was a son of Dorothy Garrison of Lebanon and the late Leroy E. Garrison.

He was employed in the maintenance department at Appalachian Regional Hospital and was a member of the American Legion for 20 years, serving as a life member with DAV #141. He was a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ. He was also an Army veteran, serving as chief engineer of unlimited vessels, a warrant officer, retired officers association and the DAV Commanders Club.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Garrison, and one sister, Ellen Garrison.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Faye Garrison of Belfry; one son, Leroy Garrison III of Belfry; one daughter, Judith Elaine (Judy) Lipscomb of Hampton, Va.; three brothers, Bill Garrison of Kansas, Gary Gene Garrison of Springfield, Mo., and Harry Lynn Garrison of Jefferson, Mo., and three grandchildren, Ashley, Mahaly and Courtney Lipscomb, all of Hampton, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, with Bob Werntz officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Huddy, Ky.

DAV Rites will be performed by Chapter 141.

Pallbearers will be Clemmit Dillard, Gary Venturino, Shane Stanley, Glen Gannon, Gary and Barry Perdue, Jerry Moore and J.T. Varney.

Jimmy Thompson

Jimmy Gray Thompson, 51, of 110 Bird Hayes Manor, Louisa, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001.

Born Nov. 9, 1949, in Oppy, Ky., he was a son of the late Sidney G. and Elsie Chapman Thompson.

He was a retired custodian for the Mingo County Board of Education.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Thompson Jr. and Herman Thompson, both of Williamson; three sisters, Louirissia Burgess of Cleveland, Ohio, Marylin Evans of Naugatuck and Elsie Violet Frazier of Louisa, and two brothers, Thomas T. Thompson of Ravenswood and Charles E. Thompson of Springfield, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Louisa Church of God, with the Rev. John Sims officiating.

Burial will follow in Chester and Rush Frazier Cemetery in Clifford, Ky.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the church.

Young Funeral Home, Inc., in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Hatfield

Lawrence Hatfield, 94, of Beech Creek, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his resdence.

Born Jan. 6, 1907, at O'Keefe, he was a son of the late Allen and Martha Murphy Hatfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preeceded in death by a brother, Major Hatfield; two sisters, Rosie Simpkins and Melda Hatfield, and a grandaughter, Vana Dale Hatfield.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of Devon Church Christ where he served as elder, song leader and treasurer for many years.

He was a devoted husband of 74 years to Dollie Kiser Hatfield of Beech Creek.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by three sons, Lawerence Dale (Flo) Hatfield of Hamilton, Ohio, Ronald Gene (Mabel) Hatfield of Suffolk,Va., and Henry Reece (Lois) Hatfield Suffolk,Va.; a daughter, Thresa Sipple of Ruther Glyn,Va.; a brother, Estil Hatfield of Williamson; three sisters, Mamie Simpkins of Califorina, Erma Basiden of South Carolina, June Hatfield of Atlantic City, N.J., and Glendene; special devoted caretaker, Cheryl Goad; seven grandchildren, Shelley, David, Ronald Jr, Randall, Ricky, Douglas and Erin; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Furneral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec, 20, at the Devon Church Of Christ.

Burial will follow in Ellison Hatfield Cemtery at New Town.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the church, with services at 7 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Ky.
