Chloe Rachel Jarrell, 90, of Thacker, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, in Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born March 12, 1911, in Clifton, N.C., he was a son of the late Arthur T. and Rosey Hartsoe Lewis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by husbands, John Melvin Jones and Paul F. Jarrell; a son, Clyde Melvin Jones; a grandson, Randy; four brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Shepard Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, VanceJones of Thacker; a daughter, Mary Sue Charles of Garfield Heights, Ohio; two step-daughters, Billa Coy of Lexington, Ky., and Glima Pittinger of Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Verner Lewis of West Jefferson, N.C.; three sisters, Goldie Jones, Gladys Lewis and Bell Meyers, all of Pulaski, Va.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, Phelps Chapel, with DeWitt Furrow officiating.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Jones, Bradley Jones, Marshall Stump, Micheal Hatfield, Josh Jones, Jonathan Jones and Ryan Stump.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m.
Everett Clevinger
Everett David Clevinger, 53, of Pikeville, Ky., died September 20, 2001, at the Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Born Nov. 12, 1947, he was a son of Ola Clevinger of Pikeville and the late Edward I. Clevinger.
He was an exotic animal breeder.
In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Clevinger of New Jersey; and a brother, Jerry Clevinger of Pikeville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home with Paul Badget officiating.
Woodrow May
Woodrow Buster May, 85, of Thacker, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born Sept. 23, 1916, he was a son of the late James Harvey and Mary Elizabeth May.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Lynn Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the local 8840.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Harris May; two sons, Clarence and Michael Alexander May; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include five sons, Lyle Terry (Judy) May of Huntington, Roger Lee (Ruby) May, Carl David (Shirley) May, Timothy Dean (Janie) May, John Harvey (Ruth) May, all of Thacker; five daughters, Mary Elizabeth Stapleton of Huntington, Helen Prscilla Murphy of Thacker, Jancis Sue Wallen of Lick Creek, Sherri (Dewey) Spencer of Phelps, Ky. and Ella Louise May of Thacker; one brother, Grady May of Sparks, Nev.; one sister, Rhonda Hatfield of Delbarton; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Lynn Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Mosley and Bro. Lonnie Francis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery at Thacker #11 Hollow.
Pallbearers will be Lyle Terry, Roger Lee, Carl David, Timothy Dean, John Harvey May and Dewey Spencer.
Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the church.

Prentus Evans, Jr., 72, of Delbarton, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born April 14, 1929, in Delbarton, he was a son of the late George and Bertha EvansMartin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
He was a disabled coal miner and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include seven sons, George, Prentus, Ronnie, Larry and Rocky Evans of Delbarton, Eddie Evans of Ragland and Michael Evans of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Marsha Morrison of Delbarton; one sister, Patsy Tickle of Cambridge, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Sardis Old Regular Baptist Church, with the elders of the church officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, with special services at 7 p.m.
Veterans Rites will be performed by DAV Chapter 141 at the cemetery.

Channie Davis Hall, 99, of Martin County, Ky., died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in the Logan General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Warfield Chapel of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Muncy Cemetery at Pilgrim, Ky.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the funeral home.
Okie C. Martin, 73, of Inez, Ky., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at his residence.
Born March 12, 1928, in Virgie, Ky., he was the son of the late Frank and Martha Martin.
He was a machinist with the Yaeger Corporation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evanell Martin.
He is survived by two stepsons, Larry Webb of Winchester, Ky., and James Webb of Inez, Ky.; two brothers, Ishmael Martin of Marion, Ohio, and Lloyd Martin of Columbus, Ohio, and three sisters, Madge Adkins and Gertrude Tackett, both of Virgie, Ky., and Naomi Logan of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez Chapel with Rev. Jim Horn officiating. Burial will follow at the Hinkle Cemetery.
