Roy A. Pollock
Roy A. Pollock, a past president of the Pleasants County Board of Education, died Nov. 18, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh. He was 73.

He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Etna. Pa., to the late Gilmore Foster and Truda Amelia Kerwich Pollock. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, attending college through a scholarship. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg and St. James Lodge 457, Free and Accepted Masons at Beaver, Pa..

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Valeria Becker Pollock; four daughters, Karen Bingeman of Stuart, VA., Nancy Bills of St. Marys, Bette Jo Slater of Alpharetta, GA., and cathy Pollock of Olney, Mid.: five grandchildren, Amy Barley, Jennifer Furr and Bart Bills, all of St. Marys, Joe Carpenter and Mary Carpenter, both of Alpharetta; four great-grandchildren, Garrett Furr, Addie Furr, Bernie Barley and Jacob Barley, all of St. Marys; three brothers, Richard Pollock of Coconut Grove, Fl., James Pollock of Port Charlotte, Fl., and William Pollock of Greensburg, Pa.; one sister, Betty Machen of Murraysville, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial service were held at First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg with Pastor James Kinsler officiating. Burial was in St. Marys I00F Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasants Community Foundation, P.O. Box 420, St. Marys, WV.

Judith ‘‘Judy’’ Irene Powell
Judith ‘‘Judy’’ Irene Powell, 61, of Belmont died Jan. 17, 2001, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born, July 21, 1939, in Ritchie County, the youngest daughter of the late D. Ernest and Josephine Wilcox. She was a homemaker and had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Belmont for 35 years. She was the church pianist and enjoyed teaching and nurturing the youth. She was currently attending the Cornerstone Gospel Church in Vienna. She was an avid supporter of all activities of her husband, children and grandchildren. Since retiring, she and her husband traveled extensively with their music business.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Richard ‘‘Dick’’ Powell; two sons, David Powell and his wife, Tammy, and Steve Powell and his wife, Jennifer; one daughter, Millie Farnsworth and her husband, Alan, all of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren, Derek Oldfield, Brittany Powell, Kelsey Oldfield, Lindsey Powell, Lydia Powell, Emily Powell, Isaiah Powell, Jesse Powell, and Jacob Powell all of St. Marys, and Adam Farnsworth of Parkersburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Elinor and Jack Sole of St. Marys; one niece; and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Willow Island Baptist Church, Willow Island, Pastors Mark Wilding, Kelly Snyder and Mike Reynolds officiating. Burial in the Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island. Calling hours are from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys and from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Alice B. Poynter
Alice B. Poynter, 79, of St. Marys died May 26, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late Ira E. and Ethel B. Wogan North. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church and the Joy Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the St. Marys Woman’s Club. She had been an operator for the local telephone company for many years, and had been employed by the former Central Drug Store in St. Marys, and by Merle Norman Studio when it was in Grand Central Mall. On May 28, 1997, she suffered a debilitating stroke, which left her in a coma for a month, and incapacitated her for three more months. She miraculously recovered and came home Jan. 1, 1999

Survivors include one great niece, with whom she had a grandmother/granddaughter relationship, Allison Loraine ‘‘Lori’’ Haught of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews, including Sara and Richard Haught of Williamstown; four brothers, Carrol North and his wife Selma of King George, Va., F. Pearl North and his wife Elinor of St. Marys and Reno, Russell North of Mansfield, Ohio, and Gene North and his wife Gwen of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rolla Poynter; one sister, Lorraine North; and one brother, Elden North.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial in St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Vivian Price
Vivian Price, 74, of Waverly, died Jan. 11, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital of Parkersburg.

She was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Pleasants County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles E. and Rona Barnhart Price. She was retired from the former Colin Anderson Center, and the former Morris Restaurant, both in St. Marys, W.Va.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Boley and her husband, Sam, Dorothy Drake and her husband, David, all of St. Marys, and Elva Rogers and her husband, George of Newport, Ohio; three sons, Neal Price and his wife, Sandy of St. Marys, Dwight Price and his wife, Nicki, and Phil Price all of Canton, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Elmer Chancellor of Waverly; four sisters, Ruby Bennett of St. Marys, Frances Wilkinson and Phyllis Wilkinson both of Sistersville, and Helen Beagle of Paden City, W.Va.; three brothers, Charles Price and Wayne Price both of Sistersville, and Ronnie Price of St. Marys; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Louisa Barnhart; her stepmother, Stella Price; two grandchildren; six brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, Donald, Delmas, Bud and Jimmy Price; and two sisters, Janice Scadden and Lucille Price.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home of St. Marys, with Edgar Satterfield officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka, W.Va. Calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for members of a family injured in an auto accident near Martinsville, IL., were held Thursday and Monday for Cody Edward Pugh, 6, Eddie Lee Pugh, 30, Charles Edward “Butchie” Pugh Jr., 31, and Keith Alan Greene, 16.

The family was en-route to Marietta when the accident occurred.

Cody Edward Pugh
Cody Edward Pugh of Dart, 0., Rt. 5, Marietta, was born Sept. 25, 1995, to Charles E. and Shawnee Salser Pugh Jr. He spent his early life in Marietta and was a member of the kindergarten class at Lawrence Elementary School.

He is survived by his mother of Marietta; two half-brothers, Keith Green and Jason Greene, both at home; one half-sister, Ashley Nicole of Marietta; one half- brother, Kyle Andrew of Waterford, 0H.; grandparents Ruth Ann and Charles Pugh Sr. of Rt. 2, Waverly, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Felty of Syracuse, 0H., and Charles Salser of Pomeroy, 0H; great-grandfather, Clarence Sunderman of Waterford; step-great-grandmother. Avis Sunderman of St. Marys; great-grandfather, Oris Hubbard of Syracuse; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two other victims of the accident, his father Charles Edward “Butchie Pugh Jr. and his uncle, Eddie Lee Pugh.

Eddie Lee Pugh
Eddie Lee Pugh, 30, of Dart, 0H., Rt. 5, Marietta, was born Jan. 11, 1971, in Marietta to Charles and Ruth Ann Sunderman Pugh Sr. He attended Hamilton Junior High School in Parkersburg and Frontier High School at New Matamoras. He spent his early life in Pleasants County in the Bull Creek area. He was a truck driver for Meylan Enterprises of Boaz.

On Oct. 29, 1988, he married Crystal S. Taylor, who survives with two daughters, Jennifer L. Pugh and Crystal L. Pugh, all at home; two brothers, Teddy E. Pugh of Belmont and Bryan E. Pugh and his wife, Rosa, of Waverly; one sister, Jessica L. Dunn and her husband, Milo, of New Matarnoras; his great-grandmother, Avis Sunderman of St. Marys; grandfather, Clarence Sunderman of Waterford, 0.; step-grandmother, Lucy Sunderman of Marietta; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys G.Sunderman; and two other victims of the accident, his brother Charles Edward “Butchie” Pugh Jr. and his nephew, Cody E. Pugh.

Charles Edward “Butchie” Pugh Jr.
Charles Edward “Butchie” Pugh Jr., 31, of Dart, 0., Rt. 5, Marietta, was born Dec. 25, 1969, in Marietta to Charles and Ruth Ann Sunderman Pugh Sr. He grew up in the Bull Creek community in Pleasants County and attended St. Marys High School. He had been a truck Driver for Meylan Enterprises of Boaz.

On May 18, 1996, he married Shawnee Salser Green, who survives with two stepsons, Keith Green and Josh Green, all at home. Also surviving are one son, Kyle Andrew Sunderman of Waterford, 0H.; one daughters, Ashley Nicole Pugh of Marietta; his parents of Rt. 2, Waverly; two brothers, Teddy E. Pugh of Belmont and Bryan R. Pugh and his wife, Rose, of Waverly; one sister, Jessica Dunn and her husband, Milo, of New Matamoras; grandfather, Clarence Sunderman of Waterford; great-grandmother, Avis Sunderman of St. Marys; step-grandmother, Lucy Sunderman of Marietta; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys G. Sunderman; and two other victims of the accident, son Cody E. Pugh and brother Eddie L. Pugh.

Joint funeral services were held at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta with Melvin Adams officiating. Burial was in Hubbs Cemetery in Pleasants County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pugh Memorial Fund in care of McClure-Schafer­Lankford Funeral Home, 314 4th St., Marietta, OH 45750, to help defray the medical and final expenses of family members.

Keith Alan Greene
Keith Alan Greene, of Dart, 0H., died Oct. 11, 2001, in the University of Louisville Medical Center.

He was born April 8, 1985, in Marietta to Brian Keith Greene of Rt. 1, Waterford, and Shawnee Faith Green Pugh of Dart. He was a student at Marietta High School and had been employed at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta. He enjoyed hockey, skating, demolition derbies, music camping and hanging out with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Jason Michael Green of Dart; grand­parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Felty of Syracuse and Charles Salser of Pomeroy; great-grandfather, Oris A. Hubbard of Syracuse; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Edward “Butchie” Pugh, and his half- brother, Cody E. Pugh, who were killed in the same accident; grandparents, Doanld Owen Green and Nola E. Grreeen; and great­grandmother, Leeona Mae Hubbard.

Services were Monday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Brian Harness officiating.

Clyde A. ‘‘Jim’’ Reynolds
Clyde A. ‘‘Jim’’ Reynolds, 76, of Waverly, died March 20, 2001, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital of Parkersburg.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Flowers Reynolds; one stepdaughter, Sandra K. Langford; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one aunt; and two cousins.

Services 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home of St. Marys, with Evangelist Bob Long officiating. Burial will be in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island, W.Va. Calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Lynden E. Reynolds
Lynden E. Gene Reynolds, 82, of Pataskala, OH, died at his home Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002.

He was born in St. Marys on June 10, 1920, a son of the late Lynden E. Sr. and Mildren E. Reynolds. He had retired from North American Rockwell after 34 years of service and was a member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Reynolds; six children, Randolph Reynolds of Capitola, CA, Vicki (David) Dale of Phoenix, AZ, Donna Callaner of Chandler, AZ, Renee Prociuk of East Fallowfield, PA, Teri (Greg) Clark of Pataskala and Toni Monson of Chandler, AZ; sister Charlaine (Hobert) Gilpin of St. Marys; brother, Joseph I (Margaret) Reynolds of Willow Springs, NC; 10 grandchildren, Carmen, Danielle, Trey, Brittani, Courtney, Megan, Asma, Jared, Brenna and Gage; one great-granddaughter, Madison Page. He was preceded in death by a brother, Millard Reynolds, in addition to his parents. Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 12, at Pataskala United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruben Cabanillas officiating. Interment was in Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Memorial contributions may be directed to Prostate Cancer Research Program, 870 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215-1165 and/or Mt. Carmel Hospice, 793 W. State Street, Columbus, OH 43222-9988.

J. Eugene Riffle
J. Eugene Riffle Sr., 77, of Finch Community, Route 1, St. Marys, WV, died Jan. 5, 2002, at his residence.

He was born June 7, 1924, at Weston, WV. Mr. Riffle was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service, was veteran of World War II and was a farmer.

He is survived by two sons, James A. Riffle of Washington , WV, and Jarrett Riffle Jr. of Oxford, WI.; two daughters, Belinda Ogle of Pigeon Forge, TN., and Susie Riffle of Ludowici, GA.; one sister, Clara Belle Liebrand of Washington , WV; one bother, Ronnie Riffle of OH; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Riffle was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Elias and Rettie Dorcas Wilson Riffle; four brothers, Roy, William, Edward and Charles Riffle; and one sister, Eva Jane Riffle.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, the Rev. Terry Boyce officiating. Burial in the Masonic Cemetery. Ellenboro, WV. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Albert Riggs
Albert Leslie Riggs, 93, of Parkersburg died July 29, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Sandyville, WV, the son of the late Alva and Maggie Dailey Riggs. He retired from the John Manville Co., where he worked as a mill rite.

He is survived by two children, Esther Marie Morrison of Parkersburg and Howard L. Riggs of Waverly, WV; three brothers, Sylvester Riggs of Vienna, Delmar Riggs of Sandyville and Ralph Riggs of Ravenswood; one sister, Freda Powell of Vienna; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Loyd Winans officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
